Viewing Photoshop CS6 on a retina display help!

How do you view Photoshop CS6 13.0.4 in low resolution on a macbook pro retina display? I have tried opening CS6 in applications> get info> under general there is no option to open in low resolution as there is in Lightroom.

Perhaps it would be helpful if you would describe why you want to do so.  What's not working for you?
I'm not a Mac user, but if there's an underlying problem that could be worked-around by changing the way you're using Photoshop maybe that could be an alternate solution for you.

  • When will Photoshop (CS6) support mac retina displays?

    Hi,
Just curious as to when Photoshop (CS6) will support the retina display of the new macbook pro?  I've searched around and haven't seen any news about it since august.  Did the update come out and I missed it?
    Thanks!

Well, a few months ago Adobe promised the Retina update would be out before year-end...
And now the latest is, it looks like it could be out as soon as December 11th - so here's hoping.

  • Yellow/Green Cast in Photoshop CS6 After Calibrating Retina Display

I am using a MacBook Pro with Retina display, and Color Eyes Display Pro with the Color Eyes to calibrate my screen.  It is working perfectly, except, that when I open Photoshop (or even the Adobe updater now), the whole screen goes bright Green / Yellow!  See the photo attached, it's quite nuts and give you a headache after a few seconds of looking at it.  I have tried turning of the GPU processing thinking it would be conflicting with that, and a dozen other small attempts to get rid of it, and nothing!  I finally am back at the default calibraiton for the Retina display, and it's not that bad, but still obviously not calibrated.  I can't for the life of me find anyone else who has this issue, am I crazy?
    Thanks!

Okay, so, I really only posted that because I figured maybe in the future someone else would run into the same problem.  I found the solution!  Color Eyes Display Pro spits out the ICC profile as a version 4 and LAB based 16 bit file.  Turns out that isn't compatible somehow (would love and Adobe tech to answer why for me, is it GPU or something else bugging out here?).  Thankfully, there is an option in Color Eyes Display Pro to change it.  I changed it to "Matrix Based" instead, and voila!  Here's a screenshot of where that option is, just click on "Profile Setting" and change the second drop-down to Matrix Based.  ICC v2 didn't work for me either, whole program crashed.

  • Does Photoshop work well with retina display?

I am returning a PC notebook because Photoshop UI is too tiny for practical use with hi res PC notebooks (crazy, but very true) . Before I buy an Apple (Macbook Pro), can someone please confirm that Photoshop works well with retina display monitors? I need reassurance before I waste my time and money on another laptop. Adobe has already cost me hundreds in restocking fees for a notebook Photoshop will not support.

Im hoping to clear up some confusion with regards to Retina display support in Photoshop CS6. In December,  Adobe released Photoshop update version 13.0.3 (for Mac perpetual customers) and version 13.1.1 (for Creative Cloud members, Mac and Windows). So, if you have PSCS6 – through either the perpetual (“box copy”) or Adobe Creative Cloud membership (“subscription”), and you run the updater, you will have Retina support.  Here’s how to get the update:
    1. In Photoshop, choose Help > Updates.
    2. The Adobe Application Manager will launch. Select Adobe Photoshop CS6 and choose Update.
How to confirm that the Update worked
    1. In Photoshop, choose Help > About Photoshop (Win), or Photoshop > About Photoshop (Mac)
    2. For Mac perpetual customers, the version at the top should be Version: 13.0.3
    3. For Win/Mac Creative Cloud members, the version at the top should be Version: 13.1.1

  • Will Adobe develop a patch for pixelated CS6 workspace on retina display?

Will Adobe develop a patch for pixelated CS6 workspace on retina display?

You can believe what you like, but it won't change the truth.
CS6 is a Cocoa application, and Retina support requires Carbon (or the other way around, I'm a Windows user). It's not a matter of adding a few lines of code to make the change, it required rewriting the entire program from the ground up.

  • Does the retina display help your eyes when on the computer?

Does the retina display help your eyes when on the computer for a long period of time? Does it make a difference if you have eye problems?

First, I'd suggest posting your question on the MacBook Pro forum. This is the Mac Pro forum, where the computers start at 50 pounds and go up from there (at least so far).
Second, I think it depends on what your eye problems are. I can say that there's a lot less reflection off the screen than the standard MacBook Pro glossy screen; it's similar to the anti-glare screens that you can find on other Mac laptops. The Retina display also has the ability to present a much crisper image with compatible software.

  • Where can I find a patch for Indesign and Acrobat cs6 for mac retina display?

I have found the patch for screen resolution for photoshop, but the illustrator patch says it is not compatible and I cannot locate one for in-design (my primary program) or Acrobat. There must be a patch, right? Or else whats the point of it?

The patch is upgrading to InDesign CC, which requires an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Sorry.
There is no Acrobat CS6. The last version is Acrobat XI which was created too late to include support for Retina Display. It will probably be in the next version of Acrobat.
Creating "patches" for Retina Display are much more engineering intensive than you would expect. In the case of InDesign, it had to be completed in the context of moving to becoming a 64 bit application and moving application development from Carbon to Cocoa (a required move on the Mac accomplished finally in InDesign CC).

  • Dreamweaver CS6 on Mac - Retina Display not being used properly.

Hello. I have just installed the CS6 Dreamweaver trial [which I intend on purchasing eventually] and supposedly it is Retina display compatible. However, the fonts and in-program graphics look like crap for lack of a better word. I have checked the "Get info" panel and the box that says "Open in low-resolution" is checked and grayed out so I cannot change the setting. How to I get the program to use Retina properly? It is a fresh install, fully updated, and I haven't changed a single setting, I literally installed it 20 minutes ago. Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks!
Currently running OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2

Dreamweaver CS6 is not retina ready. Dreamweaver CS6 Cloud version is. Depending on which version you get depends on what you see.  If you are not trying the Cloud subscription then what you are seeing is what you will get until CS6.5 or 7 of the traditional licenses.

  • A file which was created and saved using Adobe Photoshop CS6 is not opening anymore HELP

Hi, please help with my issue which is as follows:
A file which was created and saved using Adobe Photoshop CS6 is not opening anymore and sends a message saying that the file is not compatible.
What should I do, I have invested so much in that file and I dont think i will be able to do it all over again.

That's why people do incremental saves and use backups... You could try to open the file in an image viewer like IrfanView and see which parts are salvagable, but that's as good as it gets most likely...

  • Photoshop Elements 11 with retina display?

I just ordered Photoshop Elements 11 for my new Macbook Pro with retina display, but based on the discussion here, I am worried that it might not work correctly. Does anyone know if Elements 11 supports retina display? Thanks!

PSE11 is not optimized for retina display but it runs very well on the latest Mac Book Pro with fantastic clarity. As far as I know, only Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom are optimized. You could set up the PSE11 editor application as your external editor in iPhoto preferences. iPhoto is obviously optimized.

  • My Refine Edge in Photoshop CS6 has STOPPED WORKING, please help!

    Photoshop CS6
    Windows 8.1
I have been using refine edge with no problem for months.
    everything worked great!
I was able to extract out hair and edges very, very, very well...
but about 2 weeks ago...something changed... the refine edge brush no longer works.
When I click on Refine Edge... instead of a brush icon, I get the CIRCLE with a SLASH and my system keeps dinging because the tool is just not available.
I deleted my preferences...but it is still a problem
NOW... when I adjust the sliders, i don't see a preview of the adjustments...
    Please help!!!!

    no difference.
i have tried to check and uncheck everything...
if i adjust the sliders, i get NO Preview... but when i click OK, the resulting photo has been completely ruined by the tool...
    I tried deleting preferences...no change
the weird thing is that this problem was very sudden.  Just a few weeks ago, I was using refine edge with NO PROBLEM. it is my GO TO tool for extracting people out of pictures...
but then one day, it just stopped working...
Do i need to reinstall CS6???

  • Camera Raw (7.0.0.308) doesn't open Nikon D800 NEF file after re-installing Photoshop CS6 (13.0.6 x64) Help!

Well, the title sort of sums it up. Ohyeah, and updater tells me photoshop is up to date.
I had this version of photoshop running for about a year with no problems, after doing a clean instal of my macbook an re-installing of photoshop CS6, camera raw doesn't open my D800's files anymore.
    All help is appreciated! Thanks!

What OS are you running?  Perhaps it is too old to be updated to the latest ACR plug-in.
If it turns out that you need to manually install the plug-in, due to the age of your OS, you can try the process described, here, which is for rolling back ACR 8.4 to ACR 8.3, but the same thing would work to replace ACR 7.0 with ACR 8.3:

  • Viewing graphics on a Mac Retina display?

I want to make some graphics that will be viewed on the web. I understand that lower resolution displays will display graphics larger than higher resolution displays. My question is with regards to how the graphics will be displayed on a Retina display that has 326 pixels per inch. My understanding has always been that you design graphics based on 72ppi for web.
    1. If I wanted to create graphics knowing that all of my users would have Retina displays, would I setup my .PSD files at 326ppi?
    2. Will graphics and websites designed at 72ppi appear really small on a Retina display?
    Thanks.

You're asking the question kind of the wrong way.  Pixels per inch (ppi) has nothing to do with the web, it's all about the pixel count - the number of horizontal x the number of vertical pixels.  Trying to think in ppi just muddies the water.
Assume that a typical web graphic is from a few hundred pixels to roughly a thousand pixels wide and tall and you won't be far wrong.
But your thinking is not off base.  You actually SHOULD be thinking about designing graphics with greater pixel counts for higher resolution display - both by high ppi Retina displays and by users who might zoom in to see things more closely.  That's less common on a computer, but quite natural on a tablet.  Your web visitor wants to buy a product, he/she invariably just does a reverse pinch gesture to see it close up.  It's natural.
Today's web graphics that are designed to show on a typical non-retina display monitor will not look as crisp as they could when displayed on a Retina display, because the display processor is upsampling them to be of sufficient size to see.
A forward-thinking individual who values image presentation quality over minimizing download file size (which is becoming less important each day) might design his/her web graphics with 2 to 3 times the pixel count in each dimension normally used, then set up in the HTML to display on a typical monitor at a zoomed-out size.  That way when viewed on a super-high ppi display, or zoomed-in on a tablet, the graphics will look good.
If you're all about making things look better on the web than the next guy, here's a whole new realm to work in.
Check out this page for an example of what I'm talking about in action:  http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/temp/WebImage/Test.html
Perhaps someone here with a Retina display will describe how different the two images look.

  • IPad Retina Display help?

I have an IPad with the Retina Display. I tried to update it to iOS 6.1.2, but now it doesn't turn on and I have to connect to iTunes. When I connect it, it never works and there's always an error that says the disk could not be read or written to. I've tried updating it five or six times with the same result. Any help would be appreciated!

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
