Viewing pictures on .mac accounts

Is it possible to view name/password protected .mac webgalleries through an Apple TV? If yes, some guidance would be appreciated.
When one publishes a web gallery out of Aperture, there is an option to allow everyone to see it or to restrict it with a name/password. I can get into the the gallery if I use my browser to get in, but otherwise I can not see it on my AppleTV.
Thanks in advance.

No, your gallery needs to be public before it can be seen on the tv.

  • Trouble Viewing iWeb site on dot Mac account

I have a home office and I also have a studio. When I am at home working, I have no trouble viewing photo pages on my dot mac account from either Safari or Firefox.
When I am at my studio, however, I cannot browse my photo pages on Safari nor with Firefox.
Safari gives me the "server stopped responding" error and Firefox displays "the server timed out".
    So, what's up with this?
At the home office, I use wireless DSL access with a MacBook. At my studio, I'm using an iMac wirelessly on my network. The the service provided is through Comcast broadband cable modem.
On both machines, I have iLife & iWork 08. I do not sync my dot mac account with the 2 machines. The original files for the photo pages reside on my studio iMac.
So why can I browse my way through my photo pages when I'm surfing the web from my home office, but am unable to see them when I'm working at my studio?
Thanks for assisting me if you can.

I will when I go back to my studio. I'm just trying to understand where you are going with this. I have contractors who work in and out of my studio with their laptops. They use XP & Vista and they have absolutely NO problem what so ever accessing my photo pages. In fact, when I couldn't access from my iMac, I had one of them check to see if the site was down. They could see my pages just fine with no problem. So...if they can reach them using the same network while sitting at the desk next to mine...why can't my iMac reach the pages?
    Thanks.

  • How to re-size pictures when you don't have .mac account

I don't have a .mac account so it is a pain to email pictures stored in iPhoto.
Some of my pictures are too big to be emailed and all i found so far to re-size the file is to go to File / Export and try out diff. window sizes until it works. Not great when you want to share 20 pic.
Any one knows of another way?
    Thx

    What email are you using?
The easiest way to send pictures is to use Apple's Mail.app that is part of the OS - it DOES NOT require a .Mac account.
If you are using a purely web-based email account, the File>Export method is the easiest.

  • Is there a way to be able to Edit pictures between different accounts on the same Mac?

Is there a way to be able to Edit pictures between different accounts on the same Mac?

What does 'edit pictures between different accounts' mean?
You can edit photos in each account. You can share the Library so the same library is available in all accounts. But I'm not sure what you're asking for.

  • Mac Account Picture

I just did a clean install of Snow Leopard. When the install completed, the iSight camera took a picture for my account which I now see in my Address Book. I'd like to use this image elsewhere - does anyone know where I can find the original picture? I've found the image with a .tiff extension in Library/Caches but that is only the size of a thumbnail. If someone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

In Snow Leopard, that thumbnail-sized image IS the picture that the system makes during the install process. You won't find a larger one. Although theoretically a snapshot is first taken at the iSight's native resolution and then scaled down--with any trace of that scaling process taking place only in behind-the-scenes tmp directories--the original (larger) snapshot appears to be deleted as the install process proceeds.

  • Using a common library between two Mac accounts

My wife and I are using our first Mac and taking/organizing pictures is a passion for both of us. Aperture is proving to be a great product, but one failing thus far is our ability to use a common Aperture library that we can use from both of our Mac accounts.
I have placed our Aperture Library in a shared folder and updated the permission on this library file (package actually) and all its enclosed files to allow Read/Write for both of our accounts. While each of our accounts can launch Aperture and view the pictures, once an edit is made, thumbnails regenerated, new pictures uploaded, etc..., Aperture keeps changing the file permissions on the underlying files (like the thumbnail file) to Read/Write only to the current account and Read to the staff/everyone group. Essentially, any previous permissions that I may have added are wiped away by Aperture . The primary effect of this is that the thumbnails basically disappear when being viewed from the other account (i.e., they are all gray).
Does anyone know a workaround for this problem? It seems like there should be a way to tell Aperture to use the default permissions assigned to its Aperture Library package. Any help would be most appreciated since my only "workaround" thus far is to always use Aperture from one of our accounts.

Well, I believe you are correct with the native OS; however, there was a nifty little workaround that seems to be the fit I was looking for:
    1. I created a new Image that will store the Aperture Library with "no ownership"
    2. I set the permissions on the resulting .dmg file to Read&Write for me, my wife, everyone, and staff.
    3. I moved my existing Aperture Library file onto the new image.
    4. I created the following AppleScript and saved it as an "Application" type (which launches when you click it)
-- We must unmount (detach) the AperturePhotos image in order
-- to make sure the launcher of Aperture is the one who mounts the disk image.
-- This way, the launcher becomes the "owner" of the image and all files are Read/Write to owner
    tell application "Finder"
    if (exists "AperturePhotos") then
do shell script "hdiutil detach /Volumes/AperturePhotos"
    end if
do shell script "hdiutil attach /Users/Shared/ApertureImage.dmg"
    end tell
-- Simply launch Aperture after mounting the Aperture Image
    tell application "Aperture"
    activate
    end tell
    5. Changed the icon of the AppleScript file to the Aperture Icon and place this script in the Dock
    6. Changed the Aperture preferences to find the library on the new volume.
What this now does for me is automatically unmounts and remounts the disk image as the person launching Aperture and therefore becomes the owner of the files while using the app. It works just like I wanted. Hopefully, I will not run into any snags along the way .
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Does anyone know how to get my email to download pictures?  I was able to view pictures in my email before I upgraded to iOS 7.  I have allow remote pictures turned on in my settings.

I was able to view pictures in my email before I upgraded to iOS 7.  I have allow remote pictures turned on in my settings.  I loved Apple until this last upgrade.  It used to be an intuitively designed product.  I hate it now.  If they don't make it easier for older users to use again, this will be the last Apple product I every purchase.

    Welcome to AD!
I have a regular post for the top 3 or 4 fixes for that 9808 error. Obviously you are going to skip #1, since you've already tried it. Let me know how you get on with the next 2.
The top 3 fixes to itunes error 9808 seem to be
    1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced, make sure that SSL 3.0 is checked and TLS 1.0 is checked. Also under Security make sure that the “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)” is unchecked. Then click ok and fire up iTunes.
    2) The culprit was Norton. The users are set up as Admin and Standard. I have Parental Controls turned on in both Vista as well as Norton. Admin users had no problems connecting to iTunes. Standard users would get the error. I had to go to Norton’s Personal Firewall and add the program “iTunes Helper.exe” and set the option to “Allowed” (”iTunes.exe should already be in the Allowed category.) in order for the standard users to be able to connect.
    3) close iTunes if you have it open right now. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes. Delete or cut the preferences.xml file which contains your iTunes preferences. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes and delete or move the preferences.xml file. For Mac users, there is only one file you must delete or move a to a new location and is located at User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.itunes.plist. Restart iTunes and it will recreate those two (or one) files with the default settings. Feel free to set your preferences back to what they were and then connect to the iTunes store and enjoy!
And #4, see if you can get into the iTS from a different windows admin account on the same PC.

  • New .Mac account no Web Gallery

I just got a .Mac account and have been looking at the help videos regarding iPhoto, .Mac, and Web Gallery.
The help video says there will be a Web Gallery icon in the bottom right of iPhoto beside Mail, Print and Order Prints. Well, it is not there. Does anyone know how to get the icon back or there?
    Denny

    Denny:
Go to the View->Show in Toolbar menu item and select Web Gallery and any other features you want to show in the toolbar.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Mac Mail 10.4.4 hanging on .mac account

I have been frustrated to no end by an issue in Mac Mail with my .mac account.
What happens? Whenever I access my .mac account via Mail and Mail attempts to download messages, it hangs. Not spinning-colored-beachball hangs, but it seems like the server is stalling. Upon closer inspection, the activity viewer shows Mail trying to cache any messages with attachements, regardless of how old they are. Other processes include "[.mac] Synching with Server" for Deleted Messages, Sent Messages, Trash, Junk Mail, etc. Also, "opening mailbox" three or four times, even though I only have one mail account. Everytime I try to stop these processes, they just re-emerge at the bottom of the list.
This problem occurs across versions of Tiger (10.4.2, 10.4.3, and 10.4.4) on a brand new iMac G5 20" with 2.5GB of RAM -- even after TWO erase-and-installs of the OS.
Help! I'm not afraid of complicated solutions. Thanks for your time.
    Ashley

I have similar problem with OS 10.4.11 and QT pro 7.4. When I write a mail and ask to 'attach' a wmv file I get two tiny examples superimposed. The front item will play, with sound but is so small you can't see the action.
This makes you reluctant to send the attachment,as you assume the receiver will not be able to see the picture (audio is ok).
However, I have sent the same item to myself, and it arrives correctly , normal size. Also, if you click while it is in the 'Outbox' it appears normal, but double click as if you wished to amend it and it appears with the tiny replicas.
It is very annoying, but the answer, pending an Apple Fix, is just send it anyway, the receiver won't know you have a problem....

Is that a MobileMe account? Perhaps try the instructions for common desktop mail clients. Obviously the dialogs are different, but if the Pre doesn't already know about the authentication requirements, you might need to check a few more boxes.

  • Cannot send attachments in Mail using .mac account, pop account is fine!

Within my Mail.app, I have 2 accounts: one is a .mac account, the other a pop account.
When I send attachments (jpg always and sometimes pdf) with the .mac account, they do not get encoded properly and my recipients cannot view them -- or they can view, say, 10% of the photo.
When I send the same attachments with the pop account, and within the same Mail.app, I do NOT have this problem.
Furthermore, if I send the attachment from my .mac webmail, I do NOT have the problem.
Does Mail.app have a problem with attachments sent via IMAP accounts?
I have tried Repairing Permissions, deleting the outbox.mbx (and emptying the trash).
Does anyone have any other suggestions? This is driving me crazy.
I am running Mail 2.0.5 on Tiger 10.4.3
Thanks a lot in advance, Neil
Long live the sunflower iMac, iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

    Hello Neil.
Does Mail.app have a problem with attachments sent via IMAP accounts?
    None that I'm aware of.
The Mail.app uses MIME 1.0 for message/attachment encoding (which is the internet standard) for all email accounts.
Is your POP account and the SMTP server used for the account provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet?
If so, try selecting/using your ISP's SMTP server (the same SMTP server used to send mail via your ISP's POP account) to send mail via your .Mac account as a test.

  • One mac account, two computers

I have one mac account and two computers. When I get up in the morning, I check my email. When I come to the office I recheck my email.
With my pop account through my ISP, my mail downloads at both places.
With my mac account, once I view it at home, I cannot see it at the office. Is there a way to resolve this issue.
    What am I doing wrong?
    SJ

it's IMAP. then it really should show the same messages on both computers. you can try rebuilding the mobileme inbox (mailbox menu->rebuild). but mobileme is a weird animal and is handled separately from all other accounts in Mail. I don't use mobileme so can't comment further on this, sorry. maybe somebody else who does can chime in or you could try the mobileme forum.

  • Publish web gallery to a different .mac account

    Hi Friends.
Can I publish web galleries to both of my .mac accounts from the same Mac?
It seems like I might have to create a different user account on the MAc itself and make the other .mac account the default for that different user. I would really rather not do that, as I have one iPhoto library with all of my photos for every aspect of my life and work.
    Thanks for any guidance.

To make is more convenient to do that you could create a second user account, set it up for the other .Mac account and publish from there. You could either use two separate libraries or put your library on an external HD so both account could use it without ownership/permissions issues.
You can also set up fast user switching so you wouldn't have to log out of one account to get to the other.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
