Viewing podcasts

Please help. I have downloaded some video podcasts and they show up in my Itunes library, but not on my Ipod. I have everything set to automatically update, but the videos don't get transferred. Any help would be appreciated. I'm new at this, so I may have something set wrong. Thanks.

Hi Marc,
I just figured it out. The podcasts were being downloaded as a Quicktime movie file. Ipod will not play this file type. So, I had to convert it and then drag it to the podcast directory on the left side of the Itunes screen. To convert the Quicktime file, I right clicked it and selected "Convert selection for Ipod". When it finished converting, I dragged it over to podcast, synced my Ipod and there it was. It played fine. Hopefully this will help others. Thanks for your response.

Can I view podcasts on a 2nd generation iPod touch?

Ain't gonna happen.  The 2G does not have the necessary hardware to support iOS5.  The "Check for Update" process checks to see what version of Ipod you have.  If your iPod does not meet the upgrade requirements iTunes will tell you....

  • Can not view Podcasts on iPod with new iTunes

I just installed the newest release of iTunes for Win XP (7.1.1.5) and now I can't see any of my Podcasts on my iPod (I have an iPod mini). I want to delete some of the podcasts from my iPod, but not all of them. And since I can't view them (I can only view MUSIC) I can't do that.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the posting to my question.
But the Podcasts currently on my iPod are not in my iTunes (I delete them after transferring to my iPod as I don't want to get confused which are new and which are old...).
So the problem is my inability to access my podcasts that are on my iPod as I want to delete the ones I've already listened to... If you have another guess I'd be very happy to give it a try.

  • Is there a way to view podcasts in .mov format in itunes 11.1.5?

The latest update to itunes, which unfortunately updated automatically on my laptop, no longer reads podcasts that are in quicktime.
What is the best way to regain access to podcasts or similar fiels that were made for itunes using quicktime?

I've been using Column View for years and have it set to None:
It has always shown in alphabetical order automatically.

  • View podcast Comments field on iPod?

I have a lot of podcasts I listen to on my iPod (classic & nano) but it would be really nice if there were a way to view the Comments field because on these particular podcasts, that's where the info about the show is. Otherwise they basically all look alike, except for the date/hour which doesn't help me sort through which I'd like to hear.
Is there a way to view Comments on the iPod or is that strictly an iTunes option?
    Thanks.
    Sally

I don't think that is possible. You can only view the Description, not the Comments.
It sure would be nice if iTunes let you edit the Description, wouldn't it? You can try giving Apple feedback about it here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
I wrote a script that will let you edit the description of the tracks you select in iTunes -- but it would be up to you to manually copy the comments field (copy and paste should work). If you want to use it, download the script, then select the podcast tracks in iTunes, then run the script by double-clicking on it. You will be prompted to enter the description for each track.
    You can download it here:
http://www.pobox.com/~teridon/itunesscripts/itunes_description.vbs (right-click, and select "Save link as")
Or copy and paste from below into a text file (use Notepad):
    ' # itunes_description.vbs
' # This script will eject all connected iPods

  • Need Help viewing Podcast with Quicktime

I'm having difficulty viewing my podcast movies in quicktime 7.1.5 When I start watching a podcast movie (the Russell Brown photoshop lessons) , it will suddenly change to white/yellow. As soon as I move my mouse, it will become normal again. If I keep moving my mouse constantly, it won't morph into the white/yellow visual. Your help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

If it won't work natively, that is in QT alone, and needs the browser for proper functionality I would have a look around to see what codecs you have installed. I would also be curious as to what was used to make the podcasts you are watching, there might be some incompatibility issues. Also, you say things are great when you are using your mouse, perhaps this forces the system to focus it's resources on the Quicktime player. IM me if I can be of help

  • Viewing podcasts in Itunes library

How do I view and select/unselect the podcasts I already have in my itunes library in itunes version 1.4.1? I can't get it to show me all the individual podcasts I have already downloaded. It's irritating me so much- why make things so hard to access?

Just something that went wrong during the upgrade process from 4->5 I presume. Perhaps some corruption in the 4.x database that prevented the upgrade process from properly extracting the data.

  • Viewing Podcast Descriptions on iPod Classic after Changing Media Kind to Podcast

    Hi,
I have spoken word mp3 episodes as Media Kind: Music that I want to listen to on my iPod Classic 120 GB as Podcasts mainly because I want to be able to view the episode description of each to see the content while choosing which to listen to.
I have all the meta data entered, including the Description, for each episode, and in iTunes 11.0.1 OS X, I change the Media Kind: from Music to Podcast. The episodes go into the Podcast Menu fine and I can see the Description for each episode in iTunes.
However, when I sync my iPod and the Podcasts sync successfully to the device, each of these episodes is treated by the iPod as music in that when I press the center button to cycle through to the Description, the cycle sequence is like it is Music and the Description is not shown--it goes from Rating to the main screen and skips the Description.
Does anyone know if this is an iTunes or an iPod Classic issue, or if I (likely) am just missing something simple to be able to view the Descriptions.
I can get the Podcasts published successfully with the descriptions shown on the iPod using Typecast, but I have descriptions entered for a couple of dozen episodes already and I didn't want to have to do it all again if there was a simple fix.
    Thanks!!

The information you refer to is carried in the feed, not embedded into the media file, so the only way of keeping it is by entering it into the 'Comments' tag yourself in the Info pane. Unfortunately you can't copy the text you see when you click the 'i' button, so you would either have to type it all in manually or download the feed and extract the text from there.

  • Viewing Podcast subscribers

How do i view who is subscribed to my podcast?
Powerbook G4 15" 1.25ghz, 1.5GB RAM, 80 Gig, Superdrive, iSight, Airclick.     iBook g4 12,1ghz,1.25RAM,120Hd,17westinghouse, bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

You can check out your host server logs to see what IP addresses are downloading your podcast files. Mine show iTunes7.02 (for example) as the browser.

  • Viewing Podcast Meta Data?

On my old 30Gb iPod, when I downloaded a podcast (In particular Xbox Live's Major Nelson), I used to be able to click the wheel 3 times and it would show his comments about the podcast. Such as his interviews, and information about what the podcast contains.
If you look at iTunes podcasts you have downloaded, the information Im looking for is in the 'description' field.
Is there a way to show it with the iPhone 3G?
    TIA.

The iPhone does not display the comments for the Podcast.
However, you can edit the file once it's downloaded and copy the description into the Lyrics tap in the Get Info window.
When you play the podcast, tap on the center of the screen and the Lyrics will display in the screen.

  • No video when viewing podcast stream page made with iWeb08

I created a podcast project yesterday with iWeb08. Used compressor 3 ipod 420 preset to enode a .m4v. It plays fine on a Mac but PC users only hear the audio when going to podcast streaming site made with iWeb08.
These are some language lessons that I need to get running today:
    http://www.olc.edu/~bchargingcloud/Lak-language/Podcast/Podcast.html
    thank you

I took a look at your site on a Windows machine, in Internet Explorer - it DOES play the video, but only if QuickTime version 7 is installed. I.E. is not currently designed to alert viewers that they need the QT-7 plug-in - so you may need to add that information to your site.
Anybody with an iPod or iPhone will already have QT-7 installed on their Windows machine.
Fascinating project, by the way! Congratulations!

  • How to view podcast length prior to listening?

I only listen to podcasts on my nano and would like to know how long a particular episode is prior to listening to it. The standard user interface only shows the length of the podcast after it is started.
I know I could just start and stop it immediately if it is too long, but the podcast then gets marked as "listened to" (i.e. the "dot" goes away).
Does anyone know how to configure the ipod to show podcast length on the first title screen?
    Thanks.
    Roger
    ipod nano   Other OS

I figured. Looking just at the iPod, it's tough to figure it out because there really isn't a display that gives you the length.
But, if you have a set time for listening, like an hour long commute, then you can pre-plan things on iTunes. One other advantage to having Podcast in a Playlist, or a Smart Playlist, is that it keeps the Podcast on your iPod even if you sync. I've gotten to the point where I ignore the dots that mark an unplayed podcast. I have a smart playlist that has all podcasts where Play Count < 1. Play Count is incremented when you hit the end of the podcast. So if I start a podcast, but then decide I want to put off listening to it, I can forward on to the next one and the podcast will still be on my playlist. It will disappear from the Podcast menu on the iPod, but I can still get to it via the Playlist, even if I sync multiple times.

  • G"Green Screen" codec problem viewing podcast videos in full screen! HELP!

I love the show "Surface" on NBC so I decided to download the first pilot episode #101 to iTunes for Windows on my computer. When I go to "full screen" mode to watch the program it goes to a "green screen" washout that is common when Quicktime is installed whether the version 1.68 alternative or the Apple Quicktime. How do I solve this common known problem?

I have the same problem, anything I try to do in full screen just pops right back down to the previous screen. If I play a video I can hear it, but I can't see it.

  • How do I view Podcast Info on iPad iOS 5.0

I can't find a way to do this. There's no option on the iPad Music settings like there is on the iPod Touch Music settings.

I can't make it work either and it is very annoying. Works fine on the iPhone 4s
