Viewing PPT files

Is there a way to view ppt. files directly on safari? Everytime I want to view a ppt, it automatically gets downloaded to my computer. Since i only want to view them once, I always have to go find the file and delete a lot of the files that i don't need. PDF's open directly on safari, can ppt files be opened directly as well?

ok thnx

  • With PPT 2007 when I print my PPT file to Notes view why does the slide portion become an image

I am trying to print a ppt file using PowerPoint 2007 notes view to PDF with Distiller and create a full text searchable PDF.
Everytime I do, the slide portion becomes an image. The only textual portion of the PDF are the page numbers and the actual notes.
This was not the case with Office 2003. The slide portion was full text searchable. Does anyone know why this is.

    Irma,
Show the file in Finder with the pps or ppt extension, you want Powerpoint to open.
Get info on the file, using command-I, and change the application to open all documents like this to Powerpoint.

  • How to view Powerpoint files without Office

    Hi,
I just need to view a .ppt file on my Macbook (os x 10.5.2), and I tried to use the Powerpoint Viewer 98 for Mac from microsoft, but it is a classic application that is not supported on leopard. I also tried openoffice.org, but it converts the file poorly and leaves a lot of things out. Is there any other way to simply view a powerpoint on a mac without buying office or iwork?
    Thanks

Looks like you have done your research and know what to look for. You are right, I couldn't find anything that would run under Leopard and view Powerpoint files unaltered.
If possible then have the sender of the file convert to it to a .pdf (Powerpoint 2007 can do this under windows).

  • Not able to open ppt files

I'm experiencing problems opening some .ppt files.
When I try to open that files a window pop-up. The header of the window is: "oracle hyperion smart view for office, fusion edition". In the window is written: "Presentation.SlideShowWindow : Invalid request. Automation rights are not granted.". The result is that I'm not able to open these files from windows explorer. There is no problem to open the files from inside MS office powerpoint (with file/open, ect).
The strange thing is that these files are not trying to use any smartview feature.
MS office is MS office professional plus 2010 version 14.0.6029.1000, the OS is Windows 7, smartview version is 11.1.2.2.301.
Can you help to solve the problem? Thanks

Is Microsoft installed on default path?

  • Keynote 2.02 cannot open PowerPoint .pps or ppt file.

Hi, using keynote 2.0.2 I tried to open a PowerPoint file that originally had the .pps filename. This file was downloaded from an education site that stated that the latest edition of PowerPoint was needed to view this file. My version of PowerPoint is 2004 for Mac and I am unable to open it using my PP version, so the originating file must have been made using a later version.
I changed the filename to .ppt and tried to open it from within Keynote, but wasn't able to. Is there a solution to this dilemma?

(I forgot to write this and waited too long, so I cannot edit my post above.)
I wrote that both links refer to the same file. That's wrong as a second try showed. The file downloaded from the first link cannot be opend after renaming neither with Powerpoint nor with Keynote.
The file from the second link can be opened after renaming. However, there are some problems opening the file in Keynote. Keynote complains
    * rotated or flipped title and body placeholders are not supported. Placeholders were imported without being rotated or flipped.
    * re-ordered animations on an object are not supported. Animations were imported sequentially.
    * some fonts are missing
So, the file will definitely look different to the original file.

  • Viewing Powerpoint files in quick view or any app

I cannot view powerpoint files from the mail application on my iPad Air (OS and apps up-to-date). When I tap to view I'm presented by a gray screen with the name of the file and the message "Office Open XML presentation" and then the size of the file in Kb. If I then try to open with another app, eg: Keynote or Powerpoint iPad edition then I get a message that the file is corrupted  -  that msg doesn't make sense. I used to be able to view PPT or PPTX no problem, it has started to happen since this last Christmas (not sure exactly when).
    thanks for any help

  • Problems when i am viewing ppt presentation-no music

When i open a power point presentation through keynotes it opens correctly. The problem is that i cannot hear any music on the presentation, when it is supposed that i should hear music while i am viewing the presentation. Can anyone help me?

    Options:
Ask who ever sent you the PPt if they can send the sound separatly.
The only way to extract a sound file from PPT is to open the PPt file in Powerpoint and save as a webpage. The sound file will be in the folder thats created. Then place the sound file in Keynote.
You need Powerpoint to do this either on a Windows or Mac, if you dont have PPt for Mac or  have a PC, I'm sure you will find a colleague to help you out.

  • Reformatting images with .ppt file extensions (Powerpoint)

    Morning everyone,
A friend of mine sent an image file to me that was in the .ppt (Powerpoint) format. I know that I can easily view the image file via a slide show presentation using Quick Look. There are several images in the file that I would like to save to my computer and Print. Is there any way to reformat the file or an image contained in the file to a JPEG format so that I may save it in my Pictures folder?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks for reading my post.

Ira, just checking in on this thread to say I ran into a similar problem with a user. He has Office 2007, and has several ppt that were created with Office 2003 saved on a thumb drive. He took it to a presentation room with Office 2010 installed, and several
of the older 2003 ppt would crash Power Point, but not all of them. They all seemed to open fine using Office 2007 though. I helped him save all his 2003 ppt files to 2007 pptx files using his 2007 version of Office, and now they open fine in either 2007 or
2010 on any machine. We are close to moving all our users away from Office 2003, so this seemed like the easiest way to resolve it, although I still consider it a work around.

  • Viewing powerpoint files

Can anyone view ppt and excel files? I know we are supposed to be able to but I can't open PPT or Excel attachments from my email despite the 2.0 software update.
Perhaps there is an app that needs to be downloaded?
I understand that FileMagnet can perform that function for Mac users. Is there an equivalent for Windows?
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Opening PPT files

Is there a way to open PPT. files with out iWork or Powerpoint?

    HI Craig,
    AppleWorks won't open them.
MS does offer a free Power Point viewer for Macintosh, which you can download from the Microsoft site.
A better choice might be the open source NeoOffice suite, available for free download. It will open and save .pps documents as well as documents from the other MS Office components, Word and Excel.

  • Exchanging ppt files with PC - graphics issues

I often exchange PowerPoint files with my PC-using co-workers. In the files they send me, some graphics appear as solid black boxes. In the files I send to them, some graphics appear as solid white boxes.
They have tried copy/paste and insert graphics, but we still get inconsistent results using both methods. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
How can we avoid this problem? Any ideas?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

To iFelix - Most of the graphics are jpg files. The latest twist is that my co-workers get a message that they need quicktime in order to view the graphics in my ppt files - even though they are not movies - just still jpgs.
To Stephen - It turns out that my company has some additional security layers that would have to be peeled away in order for me to make a vpn connection from my Mac and they're not willing to do that. At least, that's what their PC IT geniuses tell me My solution is to make the vpn connection from Virtual PC. My need for the vpn connection is very infrequent, so it's not a big deal. It would be a hassle and very slow if you needed to work on a vpn daily.

  • Ability to view multiple files in ONE window

I can see here that this is not a new topic really but the thing with Acrobat 9 is so frustrating that it is just unbelievable.
    This is another pearl:
Acrobat 9 "lost" its predecessors ability to view multiple files in ONE window. After opening four only documents I cannot see anything on the screen because the toolbars on each individual window cover all necessary view and nothing is left for the actual document. And sometimes I need to open 20 documents!
    This is ABSOLUTE DISASTER!!!
I found some explanations from Adobe on the Web that are more than a year old.
I was sure that by now this unfortunate mishandling of that feature (apparently it was dropped out from A9 deliberately - WHO'S IDEA WAS THAT?) would be somehow restorable.
Would anyone happen to know if this feature can get restored to how it was working in A7 or 8 (without the need to uninstall A9 and install A8)?

No, it can't be restored, unless Adobe decides to change the way Acrobat works (which is possible, but not likely).
By the way, it was Microsoft's idea... Adobe were just following their example on this.
You can make a feature request here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

  • How to view PDF files like a flipping magazine?

Hi, I am new here. I didn't know if it is the optimum catagory for my question, I hope you guys will help me.
In brief, I want to view PDF files like a flipping magazine. You know, just the same flipping effect that ibook did on ios. Adobe reader is the only choice to browse PDF on computer for me. It's kind of bothering and annoying now.
So, any ideas for that? Plus, my computer runs on win7 64bit.

This is also a good site:  http://www.issuu.com/  You can sign up and use it for free or you can upgrade(for a price) to make custom changes (like background color, button color, etc.)  You can also embed the html code into your website if you would like someone to view it there.  Good luck!
