Viewing songs with Itunes 7

When I click on the ipod icon in itunes it just shows a display of the ipod saying, update, restore...etc.. then it has tabs that say music, photos etc...
but is there a way to view the songs like in itunes v6?
how can i delete/view etc... songs with itunes v7
please help

Click on the chevron > to the left of the iPod icon in the Source list. This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the traditional song view with the information at the bottom.

My V3i use to sync songs with iTunes pretty fast, but after updating iTunes it syncs very slow, and half the time just hangs.
Is anyone else having this issue? Any tips?
    Thanks!

and, what is even more strange...
I actually bought 2 Billy Joel songs NY State of Mind from Essential Billly Joel and Italian Restaurant from Greatist Hits vol 1.  Neither song would play.
I went back the Apple store and tried to re-download NYSOM.  It let me do it for free.  Before I checked I tried to re-dowload IR but inadvertantly selected same song but from The Stranger.  I had to pay for this one.  The re-downloaded NYSOM still didn't work but IR I bought from Stranger worked.  So, I bought NYSOM from Greatest Hits vol 1. Didn't work!!!  Tried again and bought from another album, Turnstiles, and that one worked.  So, I bought 5 songs, only 2 of which will work.
So, now I ask - is there any way to get my money back?

  • Error when trying to purchase songs with iTunes account

Hi, is anyone able to help with this.
I am tryig to purchase some songs with my iTunes account (it is inn credit by about £6) but an error keeps coming up every time i try to purchase a song or if i try to view my account details. It is as if i am putting the password in wrong but i know that i am not. I have even reset the password now 3 times and it always seems as if it has gone through successfully but then when i try to purchase a song or view my account details again, the same error is coming up.
The error message is as follows:
*'We could not commplete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-9808) There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later'*
This message has been coming up all day though. Does anybody have any idea if i am doing anything wrong or whether there is a technical fault with iTunes? I have downloaded the updated version as well so it can't be because i have the older version.
    Thanks,

    Welcome to AD!
The top 4 fixes to itunes error 9808 seem to be
    1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced, make sure that SSL 3.0 is checked and TLS 1.0 is checked. Also under Security make sure that the “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)” is unchecked. Then click ok and fire up iTunes.
    2) Time or time zone not correct on your PC.
    3) The culprit was Norton. Ggo to Norton’s Personal Firewall and add the program “iTunes Helper.exe” and set the option to “Allowed” (”iTunes.exe should already be in the Allowed category.)
    4) Delete or cut the preferences.xml file which contains your iTunes preferences.
Close iTunes if you have it open right now. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes and delete or move the preferences.xml file. For Mac users, there is only one file you must delete or move a to a new location and is located at User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.itunes.plist. Restart iTunes and it will recreate those two (or one) files with the default settings. You'll need to set your preferences back to what they were and then connect to the iTunes store.

  • With iOS8.1 I can no longer sync MAC iTunes playlists to my iPhone. Purchased new song with iTunes and it is on my MAC but will not update to iPhone when I sync!

With iOS8.1 I can no longer sync my iTunes MAC playlists to my iPhone!  I purchased a song on Itunes store and put it into a playlist on my MAC.  When I sync (as usual) with my iPhone, the playlist no longer updates to include the new song (i.e., playlist stuck at 16 not 17 songs)... yes, all devices are authorized... If I turn on HOME SHARING it will work, but the moment you disconnect, everything goes away... What is APPLE doing?

From my post on what seems like the same issue (found here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21087892#21087892)
    Take the following steps:
    1) while connected to wifi, toggle off then back on the Show All Music and iTunes Match options shown in my original post. Important: I did this step before, but wasn't connected to wifi, and my music disappeared. Subsequently, I connected to wifi and turned off and then back on those options and everything came back though it was grayed out and my only option was to download music.
    2) To get streaming over cellular back, go into Settings>General>Cellular and scroll down to the "Use Cellular Data for:" options and make sure the iTunes option is set to 'On'
The above steps will bring back the streaming capability which seemed to go away when you update to 6.1. It didn't ACTUALLY go away, but something about the update toggled off the iTunes option in step 2 above.
I did a final test by turning off wifi, opening Music app and selecting a song. It played successfully without downloading! Crossing my fingers, but I think I'm good to go!
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem downloading songs with itunes +?

I have purchased 2 songs with new itunes + but they won't download. Anyone else have this problem? And what can I do?
    Toshiba   Windows XP

I started converting the "old" versions at 8pm CDT last night and was not finished at 12. I had about 275 songs to do. All loaded but 61 Grand Funk songs. Someone tell me that Grand Funk is that popular? Many dashed out to a fast load, only to stop halfway through. I agree that Apple has a problem, and it probably is a large load on their servers--but Grand Funk does not load? Does not make sense unless that funk just rocks the servers too much. Someone fix the problem, as I have about 600 songs to go. Oh, I restated the download so many times and turned off firewalls --and suspended the anti-virus protection, etc, etc, etc.

  • Distortion/stutter between songs with itunes 7.0.1.8

Everything was fine with itunes 6.x; then I upgraded to 7. Now when I play itunes on the sony computer, for 10 to 15 seconds between songs the music is distorted or stutters. Also itunes freezes for this time period. I have noticed the following: CPU usage shoots up from 6% to 70%. If I am using any other application (ie. program, email, etc.) it freezes for these few seconds. I have to stop playing/close itunes to do anything else on the computer. I have tried all the suggestions Apple has listed, Q time settings, updating the sound card driver, etc. to no avail!
The only solution I have found was to convert my itunes library to MP3, and created a play list in Windows Media Player. Every thing is fine, the music plays great. itunes at one time was state of the art, now just junk!
Any help would be most appreciate!
    SONY VAIO   Windows XP

Actually I have the same problem. It's really funny how if I go back to iTunes 6.x I don't have any problems at all, but as soon as 7.01 is installed it does this stuff.
I have Crossfader turned off, Safemode on, lowered the sample rate in Quicktime. I have the newest drivers for my Soundcard, and for Direct X
This is a REAL problem, I use iTunes to listen to the TONS of music that I purchased on the iTunes Music Store while I play World of Warcraft. This stinking total machine freeze totally hoses my game play.
I wish that Apple would look into WHY suddenly it takes a huge amount of System resources to change to another song in this version, when in the previous unbuggy version it took little to no system resources for iTunes to change to another song (and this was with Crossfader and sound Enchancer ON)
Perhaps the new Gapless Playback feature is causing the problem. I would turn it off, but I don't see the control to do so.
It would be nice to see an Apple Rep actually acknowledge a problem with the Windows version of iTunes, and give us a timeframe for when it will be fixed.

  • Using apple keyboard's default keys (play/pause, next, previous song) with iTunes on windows 7

    Hi,
I'm using my apple keyboard (wired with numpad) connected to a windows 7 machine. I'd like to know if there is any way for the default iTunes keys (previous song, play/pause song and next song) to work on windows? It's very annoying to constantly alt tab to iTunes and use the arrow keys and spacebar... Also, can I link the mute, lower and higher sound buttons to the audio output?
    Thanks in advance!!

I have this same problem, but with Windows XP Pro. It MUST be a iTunes and a Microsoft IntelliType driver issue.
I JUST reinstalled my computer and loaded all new everything and the buttons worked off and on (depending on focus). I don't remember doing anything to make it work last time. The only thing I remember was installing a plug-in so my ATI Remote Wonder worked with iTunes.
I downloaded Chris's dll as suggested. Worked flawlessly. I hope Apple and/or Microsoft fix this in the next release of their software.

  • How do I sync the lyrics of my songs with iTunes match?

I added on itunes lyrics but can not find them on my iphone how can I proceed?  I've updated itunes match on your computer and iphone is turned on in the music lyrics and podcast info. Google translate.

According to my knowledge, iDevices with iTunes Match does not import the lyrics for some reason. You can only see them if you import your songs without iTunes Match. I recommend Apple to fix it.

  • Distortion/stutter/computer freezes between songs with itunes 7.0.2.16

Everything was fine with itunes 6.x; then I upgraded to 7.0.2.16. Now when I play itunes on the Sony computer, for 10 to 15 seconds between songs the music is distorted or stutters when the crossfader is on. When the crossfader is OFF, then the distortion is gone, but the computer still freezes. Also itunes freezes for this time period. I have noticed the following: CPU usage shoots up from 6% to 70%. SONY VAIO   Windows XP   iPod Shuffle; itunes 7.0.2.16, SoundMax Digital Audio

I am having the same exact problem. My computer freezes for 3-5 seconds when the song has about 5 seconds left. I think it may have to do with the new "gapless" playback. This is garbage, I can't even use iTunes anymore. Have you been able to find any answers. If not, I just want to downgrade, but I don't know if that is possible.
I tried to install an older version but iTunes said that I have an newer version of iTunes on the computer, which is true, but the new version, 7.0.2.16, is not working. I hope someone finds something back from Apple because I don't want to reorganize all my music due to their bug.

  • Cannot sync songs with iTunes since activating Match

Since signing up for iTunes Match I cannot sync songs to my iPod Touch or iPad anymore, it forces me to download them from the iCloud, now multiple times since I have multiple devices.  Is there a way to still move music directly from iTunes to my device?

    @bmorgan
stuart is correct.  Enabling match says "erase songs son device" however that is simply apple's way of saying "we will replace those songs with higher bitrate songs form icloud - you don't need to do anything.
itunes match is a service to have your entire library AVAILIBLE any time you have an internet connection - which most people do most of the time.  Match is for those of us who do not want to take up 30 Gb of storage with music we hardly listen to, just for the one instance we want to "hear that song".
do as stuart suggested.  Turn off match on your ios device, sync to itunes, then re-enable itunes match.  the same songs will be there as before (if higher bitrate songs are available, they will download whether you like it or not.  To avoid this, I would replace all matched songs in your computer's library with the icloud versions - this would keep your ios device from wanting to replace music when you turn on itunes match.

  • Deleting songs with Itunes

I want to delete a lot of songs from my computer. I can delete the songs in Itunes, but they're still on my harddisk. Is there any way that I can delete a song in Itunes and that it's also removed from my harddisk?

    Hey there,
When you delete the music file does a small dialog box come up asking you what you would like to do with the files? It might say keep the files in the library or send them to the recyclable bin. You want to choose the recyclable bin and them empty it the recyclable bin when you are finished deleting music from your library.
If the warning box does not come up, you may need to reset the warnings in iTunes. To do this, head the Edit drop down menu and choose Preferences. When the Preferences menu pops up, click on the Adavanced tab at the top. In the middle of the window you will see a button to reset all dialog warnings. See if this helps.

  • Registering songs with itunes

i have recently recorded a demo with my band and have labeled and burned the tracks through itunes.
we have been giving out the cd for free to publicise our band and the feedback is that when put in to itunes the tracks are being misslabeled as obscure other artists or songs automatically.
is there a method of registering our music with itunes for free to avoid the issue without paying as we are not making any money from the music ouselves?
    yours hopefully

You mean you want people getting this audioCD to get the  correct Album/Artist/Track names when they open it with iTunes?
Insert the AudioCD in your computer.
    Select it in iTunes.
Select the tracks then right click - get info.
Make sure all the info is filled out and correct.
    Again, select all tracks.
At the top right at the Options button, click it and select Submit CD track names.
This send the info to -> Gracenote, which is where iTunes gets the CD information.

  • Brought a song with iTunes plus.. but no device understands it?

    Hi all,
Ive brought a song from iTunes with the hope of putting it on my Motorola phone.
However when I copy it accross it says it doesnt understand the file format. It used to work, so i'm not sure why it doesnt now?
Ive dug out my old creative MP3 Player and ive put the song on but it doesnt show up in the players list so I cant play it on the Creative either?
What can I do to get this working?
    Thanks!!

    Hi Dean Parker,
Ok, so you bought an iTunes Plus song from the iTunes Store? This means it's not encrypted, therefore you can use it in a healthy way, by converting it and so on!
Also, that song is in .aac audio format, which I'm sure it' not compatible with your Motorola phone! That's the reason of your problem... So, you'll need to convert it to .mp3 file, using the converting program in the market!
    Hope this helps!

  • Associating songs with iTunes....

I recently bought a new computer. All of my iTunes CD rips are on an external hard drive. When I tried to install iTunes on my new computer, I can't get it to recognize my whole library of songs on the external hard drive....
I've tried installing it on the C drive and the E drive (my external), and both times I've gone into the Preferences and used that tab that asks iTunes where to look for music to associate it to the "iTunes Music" folder on my E drive, but my Library still keeps coming up with a list of like 20 random songs that come with iTunes when it installs....
On another note (once I get THAT problem fixed), will I be able to get my playlists back? I had a bunch of playlists with a number of songs. I like the "auto update" feature where I can just plug in my iPod and it will match what's on iTunes, but if my playlists aren't in my newly installed iTunes, I'm afraid to plug in my iPod for fear that I'll lose all the playlists off of it...
Thanks for any help anyone can offer!...

    Matt,
the playlists/ratings etc are stored in the iTunes files (the .itl one I believe)that iTunes automatically stores in the my Music folder on your c drive.
iTunes generally does not like being installed on a drive other than c (you can have the music wherever you want).
What you need to do to get your playlists back is copy the iTunes files from your old computer to the same location on your new computer. You should then be good to go - assuming the file/location on the external is named exactly the same on the new computer as on the old.
If you don't have those files any more then I'm afraid your playlists are gone.
On the locating the library front pointing iTunes to the library ubnder preferences only tells it where to place new files added through itunes. If the above does not work you will need to manually add you songs back through the file>add folder option.
