Viewing TIFF files in Mail MAC OS X 10.4.9

I can not view TIFF files in mail. All I get is the first page of multiple pages. With the message open, I do see the Slideshow and Save buttons presented immediately beneath the headers but no mater what I try and do all I get is the first page. If I forward it and open it on a PC it displays just fine. Is there a way to view these files in mail correctly?
iMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I'll take a look at it and see. I don't know why the company (AAA) sends these TIFF files like this. They generate them like from a FAX and then email it or they are sending it to an email from the fax not sure which but they say this is the only way they have to send it by email.
Thanks for the quick response.

Back up all data. Quit Preview if it's running.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following items, if they exist:
    Caches/com.apple.Preview
    Containers/com.apple.Preview
    Preferences/com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Preview.SandboxedPersistentURLs.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.Preview.savedState
    Launch the application and test.

Is it possible to view .bbb files in a mac? how? I am transferring my bberry contacts onto my macbook pro, but cannot open the .bbb files...

Well, if simply double-clicking the .bbb file doesn't work, first try dragging the file onto the BBDM icon (either in the Dock, on the desktop or in the Applications folder or wherever it's stored). That tells Finder to open it with that application.
Otherwise, right-click on the file and choose the Open With option. If BBDM is not the default, select Get Info and use the Open with box from there to select it (if it's not in the list, choose 'other' and navigate to it), then click the 'change all' button.

  • Cannot read TIFF Files on my Mac

I cannot open or read most Tiff Files on my Mac. Only the very simple ones I can open. Only the ones that were created with a very simple setting (black and white document setting) will open. The Tiffs that were created with a setting more elaborate than this (such as greyscale) I cannot access on my Mac at all. I have tried everything. Preview doesn't recognise them. iPhoto does not recognise them. Can anyone tell me how I can open these files on my Mac or what program I can use to open them?

Where are these files coming from?

  • Viewing TIFF files

    Hi-
For the most part, I love the Pre.
I get many emails with faxes as TIFF files [I'm not able to change the file type]
The Pre will not open TIFFs nor have I found a way to save the attachment and view in the Photo Roll
On my 755 I could save the attachment then open it thought pictures
What are my options for viewing TIFF files?
    Thanks, Dan
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.  You can view a picture as an email attachment in JPG, GIF, BMP, or PNG format. In the Photos application, you can view pictures you take with the camera or copy them from your computer in JPG format.  In other words the Pre does not have software that allows it to view a tiff file.  There may be a 3rd party app developed that will allow tiff files to be viewed in the future but at this time the Pre can not view them.

  • Cannot view new files on networked mac

Hi all, I posted this last year but I think it was in the wrong section.....here goes again..
I have 2 macs linked via an ethernet cable (g4/400 g4/1.2dual).
The 400 is on 10.3.9 and the 1.25 is on 10.4.11
When I do the "Connect to Server" thing from g4/400, I can see g4/1.2's desktop folder with all the files that are on that desktop.
If g4/1.2 adds a file to that desktop I can't see it from g4/400 unless I disconnect and re-connect.
It's the same for any folder not just the Desktop folder.
Is there any way to "refresh" the view?
It's really inconvenient, but I'm sure it used to work ok. It does however work fine the other way round viewing new files on the 400 from the 1.25.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks
    G

    HI Granger,
Open System Preferences/Sharing and make sure you have both Personal File Sharing and Windows Sharing turned on the G4/400.

  • Can't view PDF files in Mail

After the 10.5 upgrade I can no longer view PDFs in Mail. Not sure if this is also due to the install of Adobe CS3, however now PDFs just show as a "mime-attachment" which do not display in any other app. Other 10.5.1 users can view these email attachments just fine.
Is there a way to re-enable PDF files in Mail.app, so that mails with PDF files are displaying within mail.app correctly?

Yes, I can view emails it is the PDF files I can't download or view.  In OS 4 I could touch the attachment and it would open up, now when I touch the attachment it just tries to download.  This is for all PDF files in gmail.

  • Viewing .WMV Files in Mail

When I get an email with a .wmv file attached, I used to be able to view it directly in Mail. Now, all I get is the audio - no video. I have the latest version of Flip4Mac installed and still not working. Any suggestions?

I got it working properly again. I had previously been prompted to install a new version of Flip4Mac, but when I went to install it, it said I had a newer version and did I really want to install an older version over it. I said no. But I just went in and installed the "new" version even though it said mine was newer and the problem went away. I can see the video in the email now and before this install, I could not.
I'm guessing that maybe the prompt saying my version was newer was not the case? I mean, why would I have a newer version than what's on the website? Maybe they reverted back to an older version on the website because of this problem? I dunno. I just know this fixed it, so I'm happy.

  • HT4566 how do i view tiff files in safari?

Wanting to view drawings on uspto.gov in Tiff won't open in Safari Mountail LIon...
    Anybody?

The USPTO has moved away from using Tiff images.  They are now using PDF files so you should now be able to see the USPTO patent drawings with a pdf viewer plugin such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
If you are still in need of viewing Tiff images, a free extension "Aspator" by Kenneth Yip was most recently still available that supported  Firefox.  see http://www.d-publish.com/aspator.php
I briefly used it and can't say much about it.
Prior to that Accel View Tiff was my preferred plug in but the publisher no longer supports it due to the change to PDF documents at the USPTO.

  • Any way to read/view .xps files on a Mac running 10.4.9 ?

I've searched the FAQs and the forums, and I've googled in vain.
I'm curious to view the .xps files on Microsoft ClearType page.
I found something called NiXPS.app for MAC OS X, but it fails to view or read anything in the XPS files, though it does recognize and "open" them without showing them.
Is anyone aware of a reader for .sps files on a Mac?

You can get a .XPS file converter from the Beast of Redmond itself. <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx> I've got no idea how well, or even if, it works; the downloads page says that it's v 0.1.1 beta. Try at your own risk.

  • How to view hidden files on a mac

I have certain hidden files on my mac that i know are there because they are taking up file space i was wondering how i can make them unhidden thanks

One of those multi-purpose gizmos is overkill for this simple task (unless you already have one – I personally don't use them). Save (to any location you like) Gnarlodious's script as an app, and then slide that app into the sidebar of any Finder window. From then on one click on that sidebar alias toggles 'see invisibles' on and off. My script is virtually the same:
    set {currentSetting, toggle} to {do shell script ¬
        "defaults read com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles", "ON"}
if currentSetting is in "ONO" then set toggle to "OFF"
    try
-- If you know how to, optionally insert a 'whoosh' sound here.
        tell application "Finder" to quit
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles " & toggle
delay 0.25 -- Alter this value by trial & error to suit your Mac.
        tell application "Finder" to launch
    on error errTxt
        display dialog errTxt
    end try
Paste that block of green text (or Gnarlodious's) into Script Editor, hit your <enter> key and the text should now display in pretty colors with no error message. You can click on "Run" to test it. Save as an application with all the Options UNchecked.
If you know how to, give it a suitable icon – mine is a "switch".
Heed the warnings about interfering with 'invisible' items. Looking is fine, altering is only for those who know what they are doing – that's why they're invisible!

  • Weird Glitch when viewing Tiff files

I use the NIK software plug-ins a lot with Aperture. Lately I have been running into increasing glitches with the subsequent Tiff Files. Right now I notice when I use the 'z' full size feature, instead of a normal zoom, I get a black and white image with bars across it. When I zoom back out the image is fine. I have run into this a little before, usually could revert it back by de-clicking one adjustment brick or another, or worst case export and re-import the image seemed to work. But now it is almost a constant on all my new tiff files.
    What is going on?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Good to know I am not alone, and that it may be the plug-ins themselves doing the corrupting. The files are fine for exporting and such, just a pain if you want to keep editing it.
What is the best workaround for this problem until we get some help from the developers?
(Export as full size tiff, then re-import and delete the troubled file, has worked for me, but it seems excessive, and possibly one more step of degradation for the file.)
