Viewing Timelapse movies/videos

Hi,
I am new to this timelapse movies/videos. I have tried capturing a video and wanted to watch the results, however the frame moves pretty fast.
Pausing the video and pressing a bit longer on the frame location reveals more sequence of frames. How can I play it like a normal video?
Also appreciate good links to reading materials to understand more about timelapse videos.

Is this a video or an image sequence?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
That's exactly what you need. A Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241?viewlocale=en_US
This is the only way to view a video on the TV. After connecting your MacBook Air to the TV, image on your TV should show immediately. Then, press Command and F1 keys to mirror your MacBook Air display, and open the video

Similar problem here. My Ical refuses to edit or delete events. Viewing is possible, though sometimes the whole screen turns grey. Adding new events from mail is still possible. The task-pane completely disappeared. My local apple technic-centre messed about with disk utility for a bit and than told me to reinstall leopard. I could of course do that, but it seems to me that reinstalling Leopard just to fix iCal events is a bit invasive.
I tried also tried removing everything, installing a new copy of iCal from the leopard-cd, software updates, all to no avail.
At the moment I'm open to all suggestions that do not include a complete leopard reinstall.

  • How do I convert .mov video to be viewed on a PC?

yeah, just download and install the QuickTime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
Read that "Free download and For Mac+PC"

  • Truncated mov videos cause bluescreen on Windows 8 when viewing.

    iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4
Windows 8 Pro with Media Center
    64-bit, 16 GB ram
    GeForce 8800GTS, NVIDIA driver 9.18.13.1106
Have you ever tried to take a picture and discovered that it was still on video cam mode, then ended the video abruptly by either pressing the home button or flipping the switch to cam mode while it's still taking video?
These videos play on the iPhone but cause bluescreens when played on Windows 8 machines.  Videos which were stopped using the record button work fine.
    Can anyone confirm this behavior?

I was wrong..  All mov video ***** on Windows 8..  Disregard this topic..

  • Just upgraded to Lion and can no longer import any .mov files ("file not supported") to 3.1.3.  Also can no longer view any .mov or .mp4 files already in library.

Have been using Aperture 3.1.3 with no problems.  Importing from a Nikon D80 (RAW & JPEG), Casio (.MOV) and Flip (.mp4).  Could import and view all videos without issue prior to Lion upgrade.  After Lion installation, can no longer import .mov files (get "file not supported" error) or even view any .mov or .mp4 files currently in library (even though thumbnail is present).  Can watch the .mov files directly on my camera using Quicktime in Finder but can't even drag & drop that file into Aperture.  Anybody else having similar problems?

Still no resolution and Geniuses at store could not assist.  Unfortunately, it looks like not all the applications were ready to support the Lion operating system.  We could not import any .mov files, could no longer view any .mov files already in my Aperture library and could not email any .mov files.  Totally frustrated.  Use Aperture almost daily and can't lose the video functionality.  Was also running dog-slow.  Constantly looking at the spinning wheel.  Geniuses suggested that I wipe out hard drive and reinstall Snow Leopard.  Had full backup on external drive with Time Machine.
Not an easy process though...had to reinstall several times (at 5 hours each time) because I continued to have issues.  Finally figured out that I needed to delete every backup file from Time Machine on external drive from the date I installed Lion because some of the hidden files were still migrating back to Snow Leopard.
    I had to:
    1. Delete all time machine backup files from date/time of Lion installation forward
    2. Do "clean" installation of Snow Leopard (wiped hard drive using disk utility and booted with Snow Leopard disc)
    3. Chose option to reinstall from backup off Time Machine which eventually got me back to Snow Leopard desktop
    4. Deleted Aperture program and reinstalled (I had to install Aperture 2 and then install Aperture 3 upgrade.
    5. Reinstalled iLife apps
    5. Applied all Apple updates available (again this took a few hours because there were several updates from Snow Leopard's original release plus Aperture 3 and other application updates)
Still doing some tweaking on some of my other apps but got everything back to where I originally was.  Now plan to wait on a few version updates from Lion before reinstalling.
I am one of Apple's biggest fans, but was very disappointed in the fact that I lost functionality in one of their own pieces of software (which I use the most!)  by installing Lion.

  • How do i view my itunes videos offline on the iPhone 4s?

OK, i got some videos on my computer that are converted to .mp4. I put these videos into iTunes and connected my iPhone 4s. Then i dragged the videos over to my iPhone in the iTunes list and the videos ended up under Movies / Video in my iPhone in that list. When my iPhone is connected to my PC i can view all of these videos without any problems but when i disconnect the iPhone from the computer i cant play the videos any more. It just gives me the following message:
"You are not authorized to open this file"
and it sends me back to the start page of the "Videos" app in my iPhone. I get the feeling the videos aren´t actually synced to my iPhone, theyre just "synced" as long as the iPhone is connected to the PC. All my music and audio gets synced without any problems...
Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

How very strange... 10 minutes after i posted this the videos started working in my iPhone. Maybe the soul of Steve Jobs made my wish come true.
Anyhow, i would still appreciate an answer for my question in case this happens again!

  • Best practice for viewing short home videos on AppleTV?

Please help me find a simple way to view short home videos taken on a digital video camera, photo camera or cell phone on my Apple TV.
I've been using AppleTV to showcase my photos for a couple months now, but all the short little videos I take along the way have been gathering dust in a general folder. None of them are significant enough to warrant building a full on iMovie, and all are in Nikon's AVI format. To date I have about 300 of them, hoping that one day they won't just gather dust.
As I understand it these are the recommended steps that Apple encourages:
    1) Import movies from camera onto hard disk (Aperture prompts me to do this when I import photos)
    2) Import all movies into iMovie
    3) Export for AppleTV (creating new projects for each video, individually!)
    4) Import into iTunes
    5) Sync with AppleTV
This is awful. For comparison, here is my current workflow for photos to get them to show on AppleTV...
    1) Import photos into Aperture.
Assuming iTunes is already running (and it mostly is), there's not even a step two. iTunes is set up to sync a "Recent Import" smart album from Aperture to AppleTV so everything else is behind the scenes. A few seconds after importing I'm viewing new photos on my AppleTV.
Since AppleTV is actually built for video, I'm hoping for a revised workflow that can showcase my movies as quickly as it does photos.
I'm currently not running a hacked version of the AppleTV OS, but would consider it if it simplifies the process. Automator workflows, Finder Folder Actions, and AppleScripts are also fair game.

Thanks pvonk. I get that video is more complex than photos, but Apple still wrote its photo applications to accept all sorts of photo file types (even the many proprietary RAW formats). So I don't think it's crazy to question why this workflow isn't easier for video. Especially when Apple is the biggest champion of integrated video solutions.
Right now, here's my best guess at a workable solution. Care to weigh in?
    Setup:
    1) Attach a folder action to a folder (let's say ~/Movies/Imported/)
    2) Folder-Action runs shell script that converts videos to mp4 via HandBrake's command line tool
    3) Shell script triggers another folder action upon HandBrake completion to pushes the completed file to a new folder (let's say ~/Movies/Converted/)
    4) "Converted" folder action to import to iTunes (perhaps Applescript? Automator?)
~ if one could automatically add a meta tag (let's say "AppleTV") they could be added to a smart album on iTunes that is set up to sync with AppleTV
    *Workflow after Setup:*
    1) Import all movies to a folder (~/Movies/Imported/)
Does this sound about right? My shell scripting skills are less than adequate for this, so if there is a way to accomplish this with AppleScript, that'd be ideal.
Any other suggestions to simplify the workflow? The setup here still seems overly complex for a normal user. I can't imagine the folks at Apple really excited about the hurdles involved in this either, so I hope that they're working out a solution already.

  • How to move videos from an iPod to computer?

I've tried several ways to do this, but none of them work. When I move the videos directly from my iPod to my computer, my drag and drop or through a program on the computer, they all become corrupted. Either the video works and the audio doesn't, or vice versa. I've even tried emailing them to myself, which works for short videos, but I can't only send about a minute long video via email. It's very frustrating. Can someone please help me?

    See:
iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod
iTunes: Frequently asked questions about viewing and syncing videos
What is the detailed format of the videos?
    Where did they come from?

  • Viewing photos and videos (mixed) in one application, sorted by date?

I'm "converted" Windows user, using OSX now for 3 years. I'd never like to switch back to Windows, but there are 2 things that still are a problem for me.
First and main problem: How can I view all the fotos and videos (of last saturday, the last evening, ..) in one single application, sorted all by date, no matter if the file is a photo or a video, without having to exit one program, open the video file(s) and switching back again?
just cmd+a cmd+o opens me the first photo with possibility to go to the next one by hitting the right/down arrow key - perfect. the problem is that i get hundreds of quicktime windows and i can't view the right video after the photo taken before the video was captured and continue viewing the other photos after viewing the video.
gramatically shurely everything but correct, but i hope you understand what i tried to explain :P
is there any way to get what i want and is automatically done in windows if i select some video / image files and hit enter?
Second is that i would like to switch the selection in dialog boxes with my keybord and accept that selection by hitting enter, but i think that can't be solved by anyone but apple whitch makes it not as important in this thread..
    thank you!

Now i have just got to figure out how to minimize the size of the iPhoto Library
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about accessing the files, there are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Your choice, obviously, but best to be aware of all the ramifications. By all means post back if you require more info.
    Regards
    TD

  • How do I get .mov video onto my 80gig iPod?

I have followed the instructions but I keep getting an error message saying that it can not be viewed on my iPod. I have the 5th gen 80gig model which should do video just fine. I have downloaded the .mov video into iTunes but it will not let me put it on the iPod, I keep getting the same error message. There is plenty of room on the iPod. Also, is there a why to convert Video_TS files so they can also go onto the iPod?

Not sure of what instructions you followed, here is a link on how to convert files for playing on your ipod. It includes freeware programs that work well. There is also another freeware program that I use and like, I will give you a couple of good links. http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=123067
    http://www.ipodhowtovideo.com/video/
There are many, many free programs out there. Be advised that there are spammers that fish this site and will lead you to there pay sites. There are many good pay programs out there as well, just be careful on which one, many do not offer refunds if it does not work and some are really second rate, I have tried one cucosoft and it is not that good and they do not offer a refund as well. see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=792280&tstart=0

  • Code Execution in Cover Flow View and .mov Files

There is a code inside QuickTime movies that gets executed in Cover Flow view in Leopard!!!!!!!!.
I was helping a friend installing Leopard on his machine, and after restarting, I was showing him the new options in the Finder, when a found a bunch of videos (searched on his computer with Spotlight) and switched to 'Cover Flow View', and then Safari started opening web pages from the internet (Mostly adult sites).
After doing some tests I've noticed that the pages load the moment the Finder 'refines' the view of the videos. You know when the Finder first generates a blocky image of the video (some times called proxy image) and then generates a higher or cleaner resolution of that same video.
Not only that, if I resize the window or the preview pane, the code executed again and Safari opened the pages again!!!!
The Finder also executed the code in icon view with the 'Show Icon Preview' option selected in 'View Options' (Command-J).
Opening the videos in QuickTime Player did not trigger the code. But I've noticed that the videos start playing the moment they open. The Inspector (Command-I) didn't show anything unusual. But the Properties window (Command-J in QuickTime Pro) show a "Sprite Track" of Format 'Sprite' but again the different tabs (Annotations, Resources, Visual Settings or Other Settings) didn't show anything unusual.
*CORRECTION: The code also gets executed at the middle of the video when played in QuickTime. So this problem is related to QuickTime.!!!!!!*
The only solution to stop the code execution is to delete the 'Sprite Track'!!!!.
I also opened the movies in TextEdit and found the following text almost at the end of all the weird symbols:
(I'm sorry but the code disappears when I publish this post).
That's one of the pages that Safari was opening.
I don't know where my friend downloaded those videos, but the potential security risk is imminent.
I had the same results even after updating to QuickTime 7.3
I can upload the videos somewhere (at least the 'clean' ones) so you can make you own tests.
    Any thoughts or comments?????
Is this a known issue in QuickTime?????
P.S. Once again please excuse my English (my main language is Spanish).

If I'm understanding correctly the "Sprite" is a part of how QuickTime works. In older versions you USED to be able to attach JavaScript to a sprite and do all kinds of useful and fun things. However, some websites used JavaScript to alter themselves, so a well crafted QuickTime movie could be used to deploy code that would alter websites. As a result, a LOT of this functionality was curtailed in later versions and many cool QuickTime functions no longer work.
The few that DO still work are when they are basic hyperlinks that take you to another web page, (Like at the end of this movie, BUT you have to click the link to go
    http://www.makentosh.com/tipsfromtheiceberg/Blog/Entries/2006/3/7Somebody_ToldMe....html
) and others no longer work within the browser (they only work when using the QuickTime player). Give this a try. Use Safari to "Open File..." and open the .mov file. After it's open, see if it generates any other windows from there. If it doesn't, then I'd THINK it's operating as intended BUT it wouldn't hurt to send your feedback here for Apple to look into and/or fix it if necessary.

  • Can I cut & past MOV videos with QuickTime Pro ?

I have a couple of DigiCam Quicktime MOV videos which I want to cut & paste.
Is this possible with a QuickTime Pro installation (under WinXP) ?
Is there any other alternative software which let me do such simple tasks with Quicktime MOV videos?

    Yes.
QuickTime Player Pro allows editing of nearly any format it can "play". MPEG-1 can be viewed but not edited.

  • Embedding .mov video - followed all steps - not working!

I followed the steps, and it's not working.
I selected the space where I want it. Clicked "insert" "media" "plugin". Chose my .mov video from my root media folder - things looked good to me.
On properties changed the width and height. There is a lovely empty box on the page!
I am not sure what exactly needs to go in the Url. space (in properties).
One site says - http://www.apple.com/quicktime. for those users that don't have it - another linked to a web page I did not understand.
This is a Windows file .mov, so I am assuming it does not need the Mark of the Web - please correct me if I'm wrong.
Can anyone see what is wrong. Ppl make it look so easy - follow the steps and it just plays - Brilliant!!! - why NOT FOR ME?
    Thanks a million.

Do not use .mov files.  Very few people have QuickTime / browser plugins to support this file type.  The universal standard now is HTML5 <video> with OGV, WEBM and MP4 files.  No players or special plugins required to view it.  And it works in all web devices!
Copy & paste the following HTML5 code into a new, blank document.  Save and preview in browsers.
