Viewing Videos Online

I'm having problems watching videos, particularly television shows, online. The introductory commercial plays great. When the show starts, it will play a few seconds then pause, then play a few more seconds, then pause, and so on for the rest of the video. It's really annoying! Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
Thanks

The reason why hulu and nbc sometimes stutter when youtube doesn't, is that youtube is a progressive download site and hulu and nbc are streaming sites. In other words, when you watch the little red progress bar on a youtube window fill up, the video you are watching is being downloaded to your hard drive. On hulu and nbc, there is no buffer because the video isn't downloaded and cached locally. In order to stop the stuttering on hulu and nbc you should quit all other apps that are using your internet connection (IM clients, skype, mail, limewire, bittorrent, etc) on your comp. If the problem still happens, try rebooting your mac, turing off other computers on the network, and/or rebooting your router.

I cannot view videos  on amazon.com in the customr review section. I have tried all the suggestions that apply to me on the web page http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/index.html  Any other suggetions? I have windows 7, and am using firefox as a browswer.

I can not find video on amazon.com in the customer review section. What I see for example is like this:

What is the link to your problem video? Is the problem only in amazon.com in the customer review section?

  • FIREFOX 5 & 6: When viewing videos online, the video stutters every 2-5 seconds like it is buffering.

The videos aren't buffering, though. The videos can be fully buffered or not, it doesn't matter. I've checked IE9 & Google Chrome, and bother browsers view the same videos perfectly. I've disabled my add ons, but nothing works. I love FireFox....I love being able to customize it, but, not only is the video issue a real problem, but FireFox is now really slow. HELP Please!

    Hi Koen
Several Time i had this Issue on cust. site you should use a Frequency Optimizer for WIFI
Use a Channel which is not used by your neighbours. There is also Overlapping of Frequencies
    Which gives you Performance decrease.
Also a Point was HDMI Cable between AMP/TV and ATV(3,1080p) should be HDMI 1.4. When your TV is New, there is Communication on the wire.
The Last point is your File. 1080p low compressed never works without any losses of something, also with an High-Performance Machine. YouTube, Vimeo... is running because they use High Compression. Data Rates are low for 1080.
In General, there is never a connection which is running over an hour, without any Problems.
Except youre livin in a Forest ;-).
    Hope that helps
    Greetz Nick.

  • Problems viewing videos online!

    Hi Guys,
this is just a quick one - my whole system is great and I have no issues with any other aspect other than my machine ability to load and play videos on youtube or any other online broadcasting site!
The video simply won't load - I know that the problem is going to be a very simple fix (or at least I imagine it to be) but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I'm using all of the up to date flash players and still nothing - the really annoying thing is that some Youtube videos will load and I'll happily be able to watch them and then others just won't even budge from buffering - any out there have any ides? The videos on You tube work fine on my Mac Book Pro (Using the same internet connection)
    Any ideas or suggestions wlecome,
    All the best, Lillyman

Have you tried using different DNS servers.  Not sure it would affect anything but there's OpenDNS's servers (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220) and google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4).
Also since this is flash, take look at the following and perhpas "play around" with the settings you find there:
    Website Storage Settings panel
Also when things slow down look at your Activity Monitor (in Utilities) to see if anything obvious is hogging the machine.  USe the System Memory tab to see you memory behavior as well.
Using Activity Monitor to read System Memory and determine how much RAM is being used

  • Is it possible to view video online with 8MG video card?

I have an iBook version 10.3.9. and I am having trouble viewing any tv shows online or even through itunes. Can anyone help?

    jenny:
I now have a flip4mac icon on my desk top, but when I click on it, it comes up as the installer. Does this mean it didn't install?
First, look in your Applications Folder and see if flip4mac is already there. If it is, you don't need to install it again. Delete/Trash the .dmg on your desktop. If it is not in your Applications Folder you need to install flip4mac. When the installer opens follow the promps to install.
By the way I have 256MG ram 10G hard drive and 500MHZ of something else.
Looks like you have the Dual USB 2001 release iBook. The combination of 256 MB of RAM and a 500 MHZ processor does not give you much power. Your RAM can be upgraded to 640 MB, which will give you a more efficient computer. You will need to get a 512 MB module to replace the 128 MB replaceable module, which will give you a total of 640 MB of RAM. You will find a list of the popular brands of RAM at ramseeker.
Please do post back with further questions, or an update on how things are going for you.
    Good luck.

No, you need to fool the CBS server into thinking you are not in the US.
It is for copyright reasons that it will not allow you to watch.

  • Mozilla keeps stalling and crashing whenever I try to view videos online, or check my email.

Whenever I try to check my email, or watch videos [on YouTube], Mozilla Firefox stalls--seemingly frozen--then I end up having to force it to shut down. And when I try to open a new window and restore the session, the screen appears frozen and unresponsive.
Before posting this question, I made sure that all of my plug-ins were updated, my computer(Windows-PC) is virus-free, and that I was running the most recent version of the browser. However, I'm using Google Chrome to post this question. I have uninstalled Firefox out of frustration.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • I am running Mac OS X V10.5.8 I have to buy an upgrade just to view videos online now? (thats crap)

i shouldnt have to buy an upgrade to complete my projects, not everyone is rich! apple should offer the upgrade free for anyone who needs it!

You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to 10.5.
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was based on Power PC code and was written to be able to run on both Power PC and Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It can only run on the Late 2008 through Mid 2010 MacBooks. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.
If you’re happy with 10.5 there’s no need for you to upgrade. But realize that you can’t update any applications. Companies like Adobe, Google, Firefox, etc.. no longer support anything less than 10.6.

  • I have a Mac Air.  When I go to view any video online (youtube for example)and click on a video, I get the space where the video should play but there is just a black screen and no play button and the video does not start.  Any ideas?

I have a Mac Air. When I go to view  video online (youtube for example), the screen for the video comes up with a black square space where the video should play.  But there is no pay button and the vidoe never starts playing.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Shockwave and Flash are not the same. Try installing a Flash plug-in. Here's the latest: Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.183

  • Problem Watching Videos Online

About two or three days ago, I started having trouble viewing videos online from Youtube and others.  It seems not to matter which website I try, but the video will start and stop every 10 seconds or so, buffer some more, and then start playing again, stop again etc.  I tried using different browsers and it had no effect.  The browsers are not causing the problem.  It's obviously not the individual websites either.  So I suspect it's something in OS X, but I don't know what.  The first browser I had the problem in was Chrome, and I tried clearing the cache----no effect.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Well I think I found the problem.  iIhave a wireless router, and I had lost the connection.  I just noticed my Menu bar wireless icon was almost greyed out completely.  Two or three days ago I had restarted the computer, and I believe that had something to do with it.  The videos seem to play just fine now.  I was still getting internet though, because it seems I was picking up the signal from one of my neighbor's routers in the same building I live in that's not password protected.  Just a much weaker signal, and that is what was causing the erratic video viewing.
Thanks for your time anyway if you read this.

  • My Macbook pro won't let view any type of video online?

So I don't know much about the techical side of computers, so ill try and explain this as best I can. About 24hours ago my macbook pro stopped letting me into a program I use for University called Pebblepad (which is an online portfolio that I document my work in), I have since tried other sites such as youtube and other sites that have video footage on thier webpage such as facebook ect. and nothing I cannot view anything online.
I'm using Safari, also have firefox neither works, any suggestions?

    Hi d,
Go to Adobe.com, download and install the latest Flash for Mac. I would also get Flip4Mac, and VLC Player.

  • Viewing HD online video at 1080P with graphic card ATI x1600

I seem to notice that when I am viewing videos in HD at 1080 the video tends to get choppy but then it start to work again normally, mean while when I go to my new macbook alum it works perfectly fine there is this because ATI x1600 doesn´t support 1080 HD trailer movies at that res, which it ***** because back then it use to work fine at 1080 is this a leopard driver issues or is it that the card is not powerful enough to handle that res, even though I have 256 of ram just as the same as the nvidia 9400m which has shared 256 of ram.

this is the link where my ATI X1600 graphics card with iMac intel duo core 2.0 gigahertz with 2 gigs of ram and my graphics is 256 of vram
has problem viewing smoothly the HD 1080P trailers, but it doesn´t have any problems viewing with the new macbook with the nvidia 9400m graphic cards is this probably because of an encoding issue or codec issues with these HD trailers.

  • I can't watch video online

I used to watch video online, I am using internet explorer, but now I can't watch anymore videos online and it keeps poping a message says that " I need to install Adobe flash player " . I installed it several time but I am still having the same problem.
Please, can someone help me to fix it

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Where to learn about viewing video?

Using my Mac mini 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, running system 10.6.6, I have trouble viewing some live or recorded video Internet broadcasts, but have no trouble with others. One that I cannot view with any browser is broadcast by my Mac user group!
Ones I can see: YouTube, CNN, live NASA TV, using Flip4Mac to tell QuickTime viewer to view. UStream no joy, for example. Cannot watch NASA videos online but after downloading they play well in QT.
Where is a good place to learn how to be able to view videos, and why some are available and others are not? I do not find the help files on the Apple site to solve the problem.

Some of the people at my Mac user group do not like questions from people who do not understand things so I am reluctant to ask any more questions.
