Viewing .wav files in emails

I receive .wav and other video files in email and do not know how to view them on my iPhone. I have the new 3g iPhone and would like instructions as how to do this as I have tried every thing that I can think of. I am semi-illiterate regarding this matter

Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP495
In this article there is an section that states what video format is supported.
Hope this helps

  • Playing a .wav file from email attachment

I am trying to play a .wav file that is attached to an email, and i get "The document conversion failed". Am I missing something? What do I need to do to be able to play .wav files that are sent to me via email?

    I have the same request.
We have a new Panasonic phone system that sends out .wav voicemail files.
Our company's Curve's play the wav fine.
Our company's BOLDs ... DO NOT.

  • Wav file in email won't play

I got an email with a brief wav file ( telephone message) and they always play on iPhone, but wouldn't play on iPad. Why?

Are you sure you did download the entire message? The built-in media player (QucikTime) should play WAV files and no third-party apps should be required.
    See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3652515?start=0&tstart=0
Nevertheless, if you in no way can make it work, let me know and I compile a full list of WAV-capable third-party players (there are a lot of them).

  • Cannot view wav files in folder

I transferred wav audio files from a PC to my MAC external hard drive using MAC DRIVE Standard. When I view them on my MAC the folders are there but when I open them the wav files are not visible, just the jpg file. ITUNES will import the wav files, play them and will also view them in Finder. How do I make them visible on my external hard drive?

I transferred wav audio files from a PC to my MAC external hard drive using MAC DRIVE Standard. When I view them on my MAC the folders are there but when I open them the wav files are not visible, just the jpg file.
When I use Finder to locate the folders with wav and jpg files on my External Hard Drive and copy a folder to my Internal Hard Drive, only the jpg file copies.
Both those statements you made tell me you never copied the wav's to the external in the first place contrary to what you believe.  I can't tell you what went wrong with your wav copying but I believe the wav's can't be seen on the external drive because they are not there in the first place.
As a confirmation of this perform the following steps in terminal.
    1. Type ls -la followed by a space.  Then drag the questionable folder into the terminal window.  You should see a line resembling something like:
    ls -la /path/to/folder
    2. Hit return an look at the list of files you see.  Are there any .wav's there?  Probably not.

  • How to view .WAV files

Search for anything on this turned up nothing so would I be correct that it can't be done?

WAV is a Microsoft audio file format. There is nothing to view with a WAV file - only something to listen to.
Audio formats supported with the iPad: HE-AAC (V1), AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV.

  • Opening .wav files in emails in iPad

I've setup my desk phone to email messages to me as .wav files.  The .wav files don't open on my iPad.  Any recommended app's?

If you search the store  you will find a couple of apps that reportedly will play wav files.   But, i also did a search in old forums, and wav voice mail playing was a fairly well reprted issue on the iphone, pre pad, and was fixed in ios2.
The problem then was that the provider was using a new and unsupported codec in their wav file. Does the system you are using to create the files have any output settings or options?  This might be as simple as a non standard sample rate that you can adjust.
I also note that the native player in my pad plays wav files just file.  I pulled a few from websites, and they all play.
What happens when you touch the e mail attachment?  Does it not play, or do you get a message?

  • Viewing PDF files from Email

I just recently changed from a BlackBerry to the new iPhone 4. Other than the known problem, the change has been great. Quick question for those of you more technical sound than me. I receive a large number of PDF files for the kind of work I am involved in. I was traveling yesterday and noticed that I am unable to open the PDF files from the email I received from one of my co workers. In fact, it is not even showing as an attachment although I knew it was coming. Would someone(s) let me know how I can remedy this situation as I am on the road alot and need to ability to view these crucial files. I am really not concerned with making any alterations to the files, just viewing them and then calling the appropriate people to make the changes in house. Your help is greatly appreciate.

Try if disabling Protected Mode helps (Adobe Reader | Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)).

  • After upgrading to ios6 my iphone will not open .xls files in emails with the default viewer. Is there a fix for this? The same emailed .xls files still open on my ipad using ios5 while viewing email like they did on my iphone prior to upgrading.

After upgrading to ios6 my iphone will not open .xls files in emails with the default viewer. Is there a fix for this? The same emailed .xls files still open on my ipad using ios5 while viewing email like they did on my iphone prior to upgrading. I have no special software like numbers or anything else installed on either device. Just using the default viewer provided by apple for viewing email.

The attachment is an .xls excel 97-2003 spreadsheet. I viewed the file in the email and did not edit it with any software. I can forward the file to anyone that is may want to check it out to see if they can help me. I was wondering if there was some way of forcing another ios6 install on my phone and maybe that would solve it.
Is there anyone out there that is viewing .xls files in email using ios6 w/o any other software installed like numbers or any other add ons? I am not upgrading my ipad from ios5 to ios6 so I can still continue to view the emails on my ipad. Is there an email viewer .xls plug-in that will be availablle in the next ios6 update?

  • ITunes can no longer read WAV files that QuickTime still can

    Hello,
I don't known what happened, but iTunes doesn't want to read some of my WAV files anymore. The strangest thing is that QuickTime still does read them. But when I double-click on the track in iTunes, it moves immediately to the next one in the list.
Here are some of the details about the WAV files given by iTunes:
    WAV
    64kbps
    16'000 kHZ
    Mono
    4-bits
    DVI IMA
Thanks in advance for your insights

Yes, I its low-quality voice recording.
When I try to convert one of these WAV files to MP3, I get an error message that says that iTunes can either not read from or write to the disk.
Something must have changed in an update to iTunes. I was sent such a WAV file by email a while ago; at the time, I had managed to convert it to MP3 using iTunes. I dug up this WAV file from my email archive, and now iTunes cannot convert it to MP3 nor play it anymore.
    Thanks for your insight.

  • Playing Wav files through bluetooth

I receive Wav files as email attachments.  I would like to play them through my bluetooth when connected.  Or, at least play them through the speaker as a default instead of through the handset.
    Is this doable?

Hello, I am having the same problem.  We have a Curve 8330 with a Jabra T5330 bluetooth device.  The device works great when using it with the phone, but we use Unified Messaging for our voicemail and need to listen to .wav files delivered via email.  These .wav files do not come through the bluetooth device.  Do we need a different headset (one that supports stereo perhaps) or is something configured incorrectly on the Blackberry?  Thanks in advance!

  • .wav files on 9630

Please help!  Is my BB Tour 9630 (v 5.0.0.732) capable of playing voicemails i recieve as a .wav file via email?
    Peter

That sounds like the standard Apple answer. That or you will have to call ATT for that.
This is after being transferred back to ATT and then back to Apple and then back to ATT for simple questions. I went to the ATT store where they asked why I was here instead of the Apple store. Then to the Apple store where I was told "oh it will play .wav files just not attached .wav files. If you know it will not play attached .wav file tell us that instead of saying it will play .wav files then wait for us to ask specifically to say attached .wav files.
This is a simple format that is widely used. If this new iphone is all that why can't it at least save the attachment and then play it. Why such a dependency on I tunes to do anything.
I have worked for a week getting an iphone working with exchange. I asked the sales person at the time of sale if it would connect pop and they told me sure it can. After 3-4 hours on the phone being transferred back and forth I was finally told it can connect to a pop server just not an exchange pop server. Now after making the changes to the mail server and firewall I finally got it connected to Exchange. It would be so much easier if apple just caved and worked with Microsoft to come to some kind of agreement on the licensing issues that are making the business users IT people reconfigure their networks to do nothing more than support this phone.
Come on guys if you are saying this phone was "made for the masses" then why is it every other phone out there can do thing this one can NOT...
Just letting you know how an IT guy fells after making his network less secure for nothing more than checking for an email...

  • Emailed voicemails with .wav files no longer play

My office has a VoIP system that I have set up so it sends me an email (Gmail not Outlook) with the voice mail message attached as a .wav file.  On Sunday my Droid Razr M stopped working and Verizon made me do a hard reset to restore factory settings.  Since then I can't open the voice mail messages.  When I try to play the message I get this error message: "Info  No app can open this attachment for viewing."
What got reset/removed during the factory reset and how can I restore the ability to play voice mails?

its the updates to google play music causing the problem
go to settings > apps > all and remove updates to google play music and it will start working

  • Email wav file attachments

I receive email from my work voicemail that sends wav audio attachments, but I can't seem to play them. they are adpcm codec files. is there an available player for these? (when I try to play them I get the message that they are corrupted files, but they aren't) I recently switched to the n95 from a Palm Treo where I had an app installed (mVoicemail) that allowed me to "view" the attachment in their player - is there anything like this out there?

These wav files are from my corporate exchange server...so I would thought they be typical wav files...my quicktime can play them on my MAC at home without adding any special codexes....and I tried a test by putting it in my itunes...and it plays in itunes on my iphone without any problem...so don't think that is it....I think they have it restricted somehow.
