Viewing webarchive offline?

I tried to view a webarchive file while my internet connection was down. However, it would not open. I thought that the webarchive was self-contained. Does it require an active internet connection to view? Something does not seem right about that.
Does this also mean that if the page that I save as a webarchive changes then my webarchive cannot be viewed?
thanks

Hmmmm
at the moment safari is rubbish at this - goodness; IE5 on winders 95 could 'make available offline' with a choice of link depths etc,
I'm sure it's because safari is so futuristic & cutting edge, that the programmers assumed everyone would have a fast, always-on connection.
</Rant>
I use firefox or camino if I want to save a webpage ; file-save as- web page complete.
It doesn't quite save everything - but the results when working off line are hugely better than safari.
There are a number of 3rd party apps out there that will save the linked-to pages too; but for just the one page ff or camino are fine.

How to view an offline-folio on an iPad?

If you are on a Mac you can connect your iPad to the computer, run Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad, and then select Preview On Device from the Preview menu in the Folio Builder panel. If you're on a PC you'll have to upload the folio and then log in to ACV on your iPad and download the folio.

  • RoboHelp HTML 11 - If I publish using a responsive HTML5 layout, will the output be available to users who want to view it offline? Or does it require an internet connection and a browser to view?

I am writing help content for software that has two essential components - one web-based and the other a locally installed app (our users work in both). I need the help documentation to be available from both and I wanted to use the new responsive HTML5 layout to make it accessible from a PC, tablet or smartphone while publishing from a single source, but the locally installed app allows users to work offline so I need the help to also be accessible when a user works offline. Is this covered with responsive HTML5 publishing or do i need to publish the documentation to an application help viewer as well?
I apologize if there is an obvious answer to this. I am new to this and I have already checked the RoboHelp user guide and the FAQ and forum to try and find the answer.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi there
While I agree with Jeff that CHM is a bit long in the tooth, it's still extremely viable. The only real issue with it is that it's PC only. Specifically, Microsoft Windows PC only. So that rules out Android and other platforms.
Yeah, HTML 5 is like the cool new kid on the block that doesn't play by the regular rules. But also like that same kid, it is a bit unpredictable. If it were me, I'd maybe experiment with WebHelp. ESPECIALLY if you have a fondness for customizing the look and feel of things. WebHelp customizations are so much easier to implement than the HTML 5 stuff in RoboHelp. I'd rather be forced to stick red hot needles into my eye sockets than to have to deal with that type of customization in RoboHelp. Not to mention needing to have a really good grasp of CSS and HTML 5 coding as well as RoboHelp Widgets. There are probably fewer than ten folks on this planet that can easily handle this.

  • Why can I not view files offline with Flash?

I installed, uninstalled, re-installed adobe completely... via the website to no avail.
I emptied the temporary files as often adviced here on the forum.
I work with windows XP and Chrome, my antivirus is Avast.
Any help is welcome, don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I am not sure what you are asking: is it local SWF files you are trying to view?  If so, use the offline player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

  • Viewing Threads Offline - Needs To Be Sorted

When browsing offline, the threads seem to be sorted by "start" date and not last post. We have at the moment for example, two very "hot" threads in the T-Series message board; T61p Graphic and T61 With Advanced Dock. If threads were, for offline browsing, set to last post at the top, a new visitor would see that there is more happening here, than they would at the moment, before having to click to the next page. These threads would naturally remain near the top, or at least on the first page. At some point in time they will of course disappear down the list into the cellar as they are no longer "interesting".
Seeing "hot" threads, on the first page of a message board, would make a better impression by a first visit.
just another 0.02 Euro cent worth.

    Hi Ganesh,
Since it is that particular person requirement, ask him to swap delivery date with material group in the report and he can see the result as per need.
I have checked by using rt click  on material group  then Sort by  ascending  / descending  but  didnot  work .
This will work based on the preceding values. If you want to maintain results based on material group, place it in first place of rows. Its common behavior of Bex.
Hope answers your need - Kumar

  • Adobe Content Viewer in offline mode

There will be this feature in future? Any eBook reader (even the most simple!) gives to the user the option to access his library in offline mode.
I work in a educational Institute and our students must be able to access their material anywhere, at anytime, and we all know that the 3G or wifi access are not available all the time, at any place.
So, please, make it works offline.

Have you downloaded Bob Bringhurst's free Adobe DPS Tips app?  Try downloading his folios and see if they remain on your device.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.bringhurst.dpstips
If you haven't already I would delete and reinstall the app after restarting your device.  Sometimes the temp/cache on mobile devices can get cluttered.

  • How can I read pages offline that I've previously viewed?

I'm unable to read websites that I've previously looked at online once I've logged off. I can't go into my history and re-read pages ofline. I can see what I've visited, I just can't open it. What do I need to do to read previously viewed pages offline?

  • Viewing Adobe TV episodes offline

How can I save Adobe TV episodes so that I can view them offline?
I have saved the epsodes and they appear in my Adobe 'My Library' but I cannot find them in my computer.

thanks John. I ended up using Real Player downloader. I don't recommend if you can't control it though. It does an update to some kind of Cloud program, then defaults to searching your computer every minute, wanting to upload videos to Cloud storage. That messed up my laptop into wanting me to trash it due to non-responsiveness, until I deleted enough programs to isolate the problem to Real Player downloader, where I disabled the 'search computer every minute' ridiculous option. Works with Internet Explorer, maybe with Google Chrome, but you'ld probably have to master the options lists.

  • Viewing RSS images offline

    Hello,
I like RSS feeds because I can open Safari, let it update the "subscribed" RSS feeds and then turn off the computer to read the feeds later offline.
While the text remains in place, the images that illustrate the feeds are replaced by a question mark with blue background.
Is it possible to keep RSS images in the computer so I can view them offline?
    Thanks.
    Machado

If you go to your account settings -> Synchronization & Storage -> Keep messages for this account on this computer you should have them downloaded already, right? I don't get what your question is then.
For your feeds there's also an option to show only the summary which you can uncheck. You can also run a script that wgets all the links in the feed, but that can be a lot very quickly I suppose.

  • Webpages offline viewing?

    Hi all,
    a) Is there a Mac Safari equivalent of viewing previously viewed Webpages offline later on?
    Thanks.

I agree. Try the web archive.
Try Version Tracker or Mac Update
Might be a third party utility that can do a better job. Just make sure it's compatible with your current Mac OS X and Safari version.

  • Saving YouTube clips to view offline

I would like to save a YouTube clip for viewing when offline. Is there an App I can download to do that?

I'm not sure that Linc is correct. Because it's too easy to download YouTube files!
I use JDownloader. To get the video's URL, right click over the video and choose Get Video URL.  If JDownloader is open, it usually detects the clipboard's content and alerts you to the available download, otherwise you will need to paste the URL into JDownloader.

  • Youtube donwload - how to view offline

I would like to view Youtube offline because the owner may delete the video.
I have seen lots of downloaders but there are so many and I cant decide which to download
It seems downloaders are for Safari only, not FireFox

If YouTube really wanted to forbid downloads, why don't they make it impossible to download ?
After some trial and error, I could donwload.
There are also pay programs that can download any video automatically, there is no restriction
I now wonder if it is possible to publish anything on the internet and block downloading ?

  • Unable to view kindle cloud reader offline

followed instructions to view books offline but to no avail. Changed the setting to allow offline storage and refreshed the page as instructed but the setting remained as (default) always ask. Using window 7 and the latest firefox ver.29

    Hi offislander,
Thank you for your question. The Kindle cloud reader may be better in the new version of Firefox 30. [http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201255020] says to click on the globe in the url bar. If allowing offline storage for one site does not work you can manage offline storage.
In about:config search for offline. Make sure browser.cache.offline.enable is set to true. However by default this should be true. Security permissions do override this if the site has different preference afaik.
Check that out and post back with the results please!
