Viewing Webpages with Flash in Safari 3

The webpage loads, leaving wherever the flash may be blank... I am not recieving a missing plug in message or any other kind of message... For instance if you go to www.aldoshoes.com I can see everything around where the flash should be; and if you go to www.diesel.com nothing at all loads..
But when i bring up internet explorer pages come up fine...
I downloaded all the needed plug in's that are on the main download page for Safari 3 and am still having problems..
I really am considering switching to a MAC and so far i absolutely love Safari.. Much better than Internet Explorer.. Just cant view any flash at all...

Flash 9 works well in IE7, Firefox, and Netscape, but Safari doesn't notice I have any flash version. It's a flaw in the beta, not a lack of a plug-in on the user's machine. I've installed the plug-in offered by Adobe, which is the same one linked to by Apple. Regardless, in Safari, any page module that relies on Flash appears blank or, at most, with a notice that I need Flash to view it.

  • Internet Explorer 9 webpages with flash screwed up

I am having problems loading flash content in IE 9 since I got that browser update. I use Windows 7 64 bit. For the following I use the 32bit internet explorer 9.0.8112.16421
Webpages containing flash content are totally screwed up, for example this page www.vol.at
On loading such pages a message is displayed saying that internet explorer switches into compatibility view due to a display problem.
This occurs even on the page http://get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/
On the page http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ on the other hand it says "You have version 10,3,181,16 installed"
When uninstalling IE 9 and returning to IE 8 there is no problem.
With firefox 4.0.1 there is no problem at all.
Moreover the "Skype Home" tab of skype 5.3.0.116 is screwed up a similar way to the picture above.
I already tried to reset IE 9 and clear all user data (interestingly this seemed to work for some pages) and I switched off hardware acceleration in IE9

I just got it solved. The actual problem is not flash player, but the old Type-1 font "Helvetica". I just tested with pages containing flash content.
Unbelievable, but true. See http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_7/internet-explorer-9-wont-display -some-websites/8f4e6cad-3c4f-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5

  • Some websites with Flash crash Safari, OmniWeb, Camino (9.0.124.0)

For several weeks, I've found that some sites with Flash will
crash OmniWeb, Safari, and Camino. The applications don't quit, but
they do freeze with the spinning pinwheel. I have cleared the
caches and history for each with no change.
The first site that I noticed this on was
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/index,
but I've since found the same behavior on other sites.
The problem is the same on two different computers: 1.
PowerMac G4 dual 450 MHz, 1GB of RAM, plenty of disk space, running
10.4.11. 2. Mac Pro dual 2.8 Gz, 2 GB of RAM, plenty of disk space,
    running 10.5.2, fresh install.
I've attached a sample of what was happening in OmniWeb at
the time of crash, taken using Activity Monitor.

Upon further investigation, it appears to be a JavaScript
calling Flash Player that's the problem. In OmniWeb, using
site-specific preferences, I was able to turn off JavaScript for
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/index.
Loading the site no longer crashes OW; if I turn off JavaScript in
Safari, it also loads the site.
I have run into other sites that cause the same problem,
however, so this solution will continue to be hit or miss.
I don't know whether there is anything that Adobe can do to
solve this problem, but some investigation would be helpful.
    Thanks.

  • Pages with flash crash Safari

I'm having an issue with the Safari 4 beta where as soon as I visit a site that uses flash, the browser completely locks up and I have to force quit it. I have updated flash to the latest version but not even that solved my problem.
Any help would be great as I currently can not get on half the sites I visit because of this issue.

I open safari, go to a site with no flash. It loads fine, I can browse fine. I open a new tab, go to youtube. Safari hangs and doesn't show anything in the window, nor can i click any buttons in the toolbar or go back to the first tab.
I'm pretty sure its a graphics error, because if I then take TextMate, click and drag and move it in front of Safari, the TextMate window reveals some content, and bugs some other stuff.
I took a screen capture using Jing and uploaded it to my school's ftp cause it's kinda hard to explain.

  • Mavericks 10.9.4 complete system freeze on any webpage with Flash

Been running 10.9.4 without problems on this rMBP 15" 2.3GHz, 16GB RAM.  Today it started freezing when I tried to load a flash video from comedy central.  Complete system freeze, cursor stuck, no feedback, hard restart required.  I thought it might be Silverlight at first so I disallowed it in Safari and it seemed to be ok, but after loading another video the system froze again.
It now occurs for all browsers I try, Safari, Firefox, Chrome.  I have now *uninstalled Adobe Flash* via Adobe's uninstaller, and disabled extensions in Safari.  When I go to youtube.com the system freezes completely again.
I have run Disk Utility and at first it reported that repairs were needed.  I tried a Command-R restart but the computer would boot up eventually into a black screen and then I'd hear "To continue in English, press return" but then nothing would happen.  I restarted and tried to go into Safe Mode but it didn't work, read that I needed to disable FileVault for that approach.  I could still boot normally (and still can), so I disabled FileVault and have tried booting into Safe Mode.  It still doesn't work though--sometimes when I restart it just doesn't go into Safe Mode, and sometimes it goes to a black screen.  However, now when I run Disk Utility's Repair Disk, it reports no problems.
I don't know what to do from here except back up to Time Machine and restore from backup.

Thanks for your suggestion Eric.  I tried that and it gave me the recovery volume option.  But when I selected it, after a few seconds the screen went black and stayed there until a voice said "To continue in English, press return".  I'm guessing that it is in recovery mode correctly but there is a problem with the graphics card which leads to the screen shutting down.  I don't know what else I could try except taking this in to an apple bar, but holla if you have any ideas!

  • Sites with Flash hang Safari 3.1 and Firefox 2+

I've been having problems for only the past few days with some sites using Flash hanging my browsers. Force quit become the only option. Anyone else seeing this?
Here's a site where it happens consistently: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7355912.stm

Have you installed the latest Flash update released a couple of weeks or so ago? Also Safari is now up to 3.1.1. I have both and no problem with the url you posted.
Note: After installing Flash you MUST repair permissions using Disk Utility. You may need to re-run DU to make sure all permissions are in order. This should be done before and after all updates but Flash upgrades are a known problem in this regard.

  • This is how to save webpages WITH images in Safari

Select Print, click the box that says save as PDF, rest is self explanatory. Webpage will open in Acrobat when you open it later, but is that really a problem? Opening in Safari doesn't give you any more options than opening it in Acrobat.

Refer to the following post, hope it helps

  • CPU usage spikes while viewing webpage with java script

Can anyone tell me if it is normal for cpu use to spike up to 90% when I view a webpage that's using javascript? It is a scrolling news headline using java script 1.2 in the webpage.

Fortunately, while my temps do go up and fan speed increases, mine does not become exceedingly loud. I apparently have a lot of good karma stored up because both the original midplane and its replacement - bad caps - have had quiet fans.

  • Problems with flash. Safari doesn't recognize that I'm up to date.

This problem just started happening around time I updated to mountain lion. Can't play any flash videos because it says my version of flash is out of date. Prompts me to adobe's website where I downloaded latest version of flash. System preferences confirms I have latest version of flash. Still won't let me play any videos on safari and says the exact same thing.

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab. Click: Delete All
You may have the latest version installed, but follow the instructions for uninstalling any prior versions here >   Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.

  • After Installing Flash Player 9, i can't open anything with Flash

After ungrading to Adobe Flash Player 9, i can't open
anything with flash on any of my browsers (Safari, IE)
and it just keeps on running in circles...like it tells me to
go to the download page and then i would download it and install
the software, but after installation, it directs me to the
    macromedia pages and it says:
"The page “Macromedia - Flash Player” has content

    don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in
should be available on this page:

Do you want to open the page?"
and when i open the page. it's just the page where I
    downloaded the Flash Player...
it just keeps going back in circles after i've done it like 8
    times already!
    URGGHHH!!!! help!
now i can't open anything with flash on the page!!!!
and just any webpage with flash movies...it would just say

and there isn't any help on the forum at all!!!!
anyways. i'm with Mac OS X 10.3.9 on a PowerPC Powerbook

Are you using any MS Office third party Add-ins? Test:  Remove third party Add-ins other than PDFMaker.  Test to see if the MS Office apps run afterward.
Did you attempt to repair MS Office?  Test:  Go to Add/Remove Control Panel run Repair.
Finally, have you tried testing to see if it's PDFMaker?  Test: Use the Add/Remove Control Panel to modify the Acrobat installation to remove PDFMaker.  See if MS Office applications launch and behave correctly?

  • Can't connect to any webpages with any browser

Our Powerbook G4 can not connect to any webpages with any browser (safari, firefox, IE) but other TCP/IP applications work fine. IE, the AOL application can connect via TCP/IP, iChat and skype both work fine.
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Alan

It sounds to me like either a DNS server issue, or your Mac is looking for a web proxy and not finding it.
If you don't have the DNS server filled out in your network settings, find out the DNS IP info from an ISP and try inputting it.
Also, click on the Proxies tab in Network Settings to see if you have a proxy configuration listed (either automatic config or manually inputted proxies per port). If you do, disable the proxies and try again. If not, see if you can get the web proxy info for where you are from either your ISP or your work place.

  • Websites with Flash Not Loading

My browser is IE7, after installing Macromedia Flash Player I
am still unable to view websites with flash, I have checked add ons

Any assistance as to solutions or settings I can try,/change

    You're welcome.
I'll be backing up to a 1TB ext. drive, so I'm going to set up Time Machine and maintain regular backups.
Time Machine is great for recovering specific files/folders. I find a clone backup much more effective for going back to a previous HD state. I think both are essential. The latter is created with SuperDuper or CarbonCopyCloner.
I have Time Machine and a bootable backup on a 750 MB HD. One partition matches the size of my iMac HD (297 mb); the rest if for Time Machine. Works well together. I create a bootable clone every few weeks or so, or just prior to a significant update to the OS, such as an incremental update, eg 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, or any Apple update requiring a "restart". This way, if something goes awry I simply can start-up from the clone and copy it back in a few minutes to the HD (only those files that have changed in the update are copied).
