Views/Topics/Messages counts

What is wrong with the Views/Topics/Messages counts in the Leopard forums?
Universal Access & VoiceOver: 23,657 Views, only 250 topics THAT many views?
Using Mac OS X Leopard: 7,071 views, 43,511 topics LESS views than the actual # of threads??
That can't be right!

Hi,
I would guess the first one is right
At Category level the Views versus Posts look similar in low level thread areas
Depending when the software counts a View for the category List (It may not count the Original Post) the others would seem to be right as in busy forums some posts move down the list quickly.

  • In full screen mail, message count vanishes

I'm not sure if this is a Mavericks issue, or has always been an issue. When I use mail with the message viewer as a regular window, the count of messages in the mailbox I'm looking at shows in the window bar. But when I switch to full screen, the count vanishes. Am I missing something?

You're not missing something. When an app is made Full Screen, its title bar is removed. This is true for all apps; though most don't suffer from the loss of a feature the way Mail does.
If you want to see how many messages are in the currently-selected mailbox without leaving Full Screen, move your cursor to the top of the screen to reveal the Menu Bar, click on the "Window" menu and the very last item displayed in the dropdown will be the window title, which includes the message count in parenthesis. Alternatively, you can right-click (two-finger click if on a trackpad) on Mail's icon in the Dock, and it will show you the window name with the message count in parenthesis. Both options are less convenient than glancing at the menu bar, but at least you can remain in Full Screen.

  • Message counter in a mail folder ?

    Hi there,
How do i know how many messages a mail folder contain ?
    TIA

The message count is located at the very top of the "Message Viewer" window. It displays the folder/mailbox name then the location (i.e., "On My Mac") and the number of messages in parentheses. However, the message count does not include the number of messages within any sub-folders the parent folder may contain.
If there is a way of showing the full count of messages which include those within sub-folders, I do not know of it.

  • Tool for Viewing queue messages

Does anyone know of any tools for viewing queue/topic messages - including any configuration details for the tool.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Two options using SQL. Others may exist.
q_tab_name = value used in dbms_aqadm.create_queue for the queue_table parm
    select * from <q_tab_name>;
    select * from aq$<q_tab_name>;

  • Some solutions for screwy unread message counts

I've recently found solutions to two Mail.app (version 2.0.5) problems
I'd been having, and figured I'd share them. My apologies if these
duplicate things already said here by othersq; a quick Google didn't
    turn these up for me.
Problem 1: Mail spontaneously becomes unread after reading it. In my
case, at least, this was directly correlated with installing the
GPGMail plugin, and went away when I removed the plugin. According to
    http://www.sente.ch/Lists/gpgmail-users/Message/847.html you can solve
this problem by tweaking GPGMail's configuration; I haven't tried this
    myself yet, but will soon.
Problem 2: Unread message counts are sometimes unreasonably high in
IMAP folders. In my case, I would receive one piece of email, and my
"Unread Messages" Smart Folder would report that I had 8 unread pieces
of email. When I would click on the folder, it would show me just the
one piece of mail, and the count next to the smart folder would go
    away.
I should note here that I had configured Mail.app NOT to move deleted
    messages to a Trash folder.
It turns out that when I selected View->View Deleted Messages, I could
see another 7 unread --- but deleted --- messages. (All were spam that
I had manually "moved" to another folder, which, when Mail.app is
configured not to move deleted messages to a Trash folder, leaves
behind a deleted copy in the original folder. Oddly, when Mail.app
is configured to move deleted messages to a Trash folder, moving a
message leaves no deleted body behind in either the source folder, or
in the Trash folder. This seems inconsistent to me, but that's
    another matter entirely.)
Anyhow, the 8-or-0 count seems to be due to an inconsistency in how
Mail.app counts deleted-yet-unread messages: when a new message comes
in, it includes deleted, but unread, messages in its unread message
count; but after you've read that new message, it no longer includes
deleted, but unread, messages when it updates the count. So the count
goes from 8 to 0... until the next time you get mail.
Incidentally, another side-effect of this bug is that partial copies
of an email message saved in your Drafts folder, and then deleted when
you sent the mail, cause the Drafts folder to show a non-zero count
whenever you receive a new piece of mail --- even though clicking on
it will show it to be empty (until you start viewing deleted
    messages.)
The workaround for all of this seems to be to configure Mail.app to
always move deleted messages to the Trash folder I think this is
probably the default configuration; I had changed it for reasons which
    I no longer remember.
I am posting this information to the apple.com mail suport forum and
to the macintouch mail.app forum, and I am reporting the bug to Apple
    via the ADC bugtracker.
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Sorry I am marking this solved, but it never was.
The best thing that could be done is to rely on Time Machine, or forward all of your incoming email to another address.
Apparently, there is no way to do what I asked. But there should be. So Apple, please fix this.
Again, sorry I am marking it as solved.

  • How to view the Messages on the Stream Queues in the MQSeries Explorer

    Hi,
After you publish the data to the stream queue (SYSTEM.BROKER.DEFAULT.STREAM), how to you see the data on that stream using the MQSeries Explorer.
I could not see any data on the stream, but I have confirmed that the messages are being published because after I register the subscriber, the published messages do get routed corectly.
Is there a way to view published messages on the stream queue. any help would be greatly appciated.
    Thanks,
    Rushabh

Thanks for replying..but what if there are no subscribers registered for that particular topic and the publisher keeps on publishing the messages for a topic. I suspect there should be some way of knowing for the publisher whether it published the messages on the stream queue or not and hence some way of viewing the messages on the queue via the MQSeries explorer..
    Thanks,
    Rushabh

  • WebLogic 10 : Unable to view JMS message

When I navigate to from weblogic admin console to
Services->Messaging->JMS Modules->My queue->Monitoring tab I see count as 1 one High Messages but
When I check the queue and click on Show messages button the resulting messages grid is empty.
Why can't I view the message??

The high messages count shows statistics for what has happened not the current messages in the queue.
When you have a message current count you can probably view it (when you are fast enough).
Note that messages once they are consumed are no longer in the queue.

  • Incorrect message count in Mail.app inbox (not unread message count)

In Mail.app my inbox is empty but I have a current count of about 4.3 billion messages (varies some). Does anyone know a fix for this? I have 3 IMAP accounts set up as well as several RSS feeds. This is not a major problem since the new message count is usually correct (except for some minor issues updating the GMail count) but is a nuisance still.

It is not the answer to "billions", but click on View and see which is offered: Hide Deleted Messages or Show Deleted Messages, and whether shown in gray or black type?
Perhaps you should use Rebuild on each individual Inbox. If you do, be aware that all messages seem to disappear, before returning, so do not panic and do anything until Rebuild is finished.

  • The destination message count limit (maxNumMsgs) of 100000 has been reached

So I seem to be getting this error when trying to send JMS messages in Glassfish to a topic after our application has been up and running for about 18 hours. We're using a topic, so a message is being published to the topic and one of two things should be happening if I understand things correctly: 1) Subscribers on the topic should receive a copy of the message, then the message is deleted from the topic or 2) there are no subscribers so the message doesn't get stored in the topic. However, based on the stack trace below, it is quite clear that the topic queueing up messages. The messages we send are non-persistent and the subscribers are non-durable so if no one is listening to the topic there's no reason to queue up the message. And if someone is listening, when the message is sent to the subscriber then it should be removed from the topic. Maybe I'm not understanding how topics work.
    Here's the stack trace:

If no consumer on the Topic, the message will not be queued to the destination unless it's sent in a transaction in which case it will be cleaned up when the transaction completes if no consumer at time of transaction commit in GlassFish MQ. You can run 'imqcmd list dst', 'imqcmd query dst', 'imqcmd list dur' and 'imqcmd list txn' to check if any other consumer exist on the Topic that caused the messages get queued or held due to incompleted transaction. If there is a consumer client, make sure it's consuming messages and acknowledge messages if using client ack session.

    Hello gtsb.
You have the problem described here:
    Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty
Because of the differences between Mail 1.x and Mail 2.x, if you’re using Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), as your profile indicates, further discussing your problem here might confuse other users with similar problems running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), so please start a new topic in the Mail & Address Book - Mac OS X 10.3 & earlier forum. • Nokia 5530 Message Counter?

Does the Nokia 5530 have a message counter, which gives you the ability to see how many messages have been sent and recieved from the mobile in total?

No, but if you sync messages and contacts on Ovi suite on a regular basis all messages are stored there and can be viewed as conversations.

  • Dynamic sub-topic slide counter in Captivate 7

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me guidance on the following routine that i would like to implement using Captivate 7.
I would like a front-end menu selector slide to dynamically count how many slides are allocated to each of the sub-topics so that it can 'show' when all slides have been completed topic by topic.
I envisage puting a pre-loaded topic selector onto my master slide, so that when you load a new slide into the filmstrip, you would choose from a 'dropdown' as to which topic this slide belongs (this dropdown would not be visible in runtime)
This way, when i enter the package in runtime, I can use the system variable to count how many slide are in the total package, but when i get to the menu slide, it will have dynamically counted how many slides are alloctaed to each topic before i enter the topics. Once the total amount of slides allocated to a topic have been completed, the menu button will indicate this.
It is the sub-topic dynamic counting part of this query that i am having trouble with.
Thank you in advance for any assitance you can provide on this matter.
    Craig

    Hi Lilybiri,
OK, Captivate has a system variable that calculates how many slides are in a total package, but, for example, my package is broken down into sub-topics of:
    Colours
    Animals,
    Cars
    Flowers
    etc ....
When I am developing the content and I add a new slide from my Master template, there will be a dropdown menu (not visible in runtime) from which I select which topic this new slide belongs to (ie Colours, Animals, etc ......). So I can do this for all new slides added to my package. (Probably a variable set for each slide which will be 'Slidetopic = Colours' or 'Slidetopic = Cars')
When I finally run the package, I will have a 'Menu' slide where I can choose which sub-topic I want to visit, but I wan Captivate to dynamically count how many slides are there allocated to 'Colours', how many are set to 'Animals', etc, etc .....
This way I can then determine exactly when I have completed the 'Cars' topic and change the menu button to indicate this fact.
Upon initial entry, I would suspect my menu screen will display information such as:
    Total slides  = 40
    Colours = 12 slides
    Animals = 8 slides
    Cars = 14 slides
    Flowers = 6 slides
It is the dynamic counting of the sub-topic quantity where I am hoping that someone may help me.
Does this make my ambitions any clearer Lilybiri ?
    Thank you for your interest.
    Best wishes,
    Craig

Is there a way to view the messages I sent along with files in Adobe Send?

Too bad...I wish that feature was still there that was in SendNow...I also have to go and get the recipients email each time I send a file instead of Send remembering the email addresses I have sent to in the past.
Are any of the great features of SendNow going to be brought over into Send? Or are they just gone...I am a paying CC user...just curious what's going on at Adobe...Thanks for your very quick response though...I guess my message content is gone.
