ViewSonic VX2435wm Display very blurry

I tried hooking up the Viewsonic display as a 2nd on my MBP, and no matter what i do it looks terrible. Text is fuzzy, nothing is very sharp. I've had this monitor hooked up to my work PeeCee for some time, and while it's nothing very special in terms of quality, it's never looked this bad. I mean it's almost unusable, especially when I glance back at my nice, crisp MBP display...
I've tried everything I can think of from the on board monitor settings to trying every resolution available, trashing display prefs, etc.
Am I just screwed with this combo?

what res is it running in? what connection - VGA or DVI?
DVI is going to look a bit sharper than VGA & if it's a 24" screen, you should be running at 1920 X 1200 or so.

Hello, I have a Thinkpad L 540 with Win 8 Pro and some applications are displayed very blurry.

Ah, so you have a first-gen model from the looks of it. If I might make a suggestion, please update your tagline as follows to assist others in helping you:
    MBP (Early 2006)
You can expand upon this as you like.
Perhaps I wasn't reading the original post, but what version of Windows were you running at the time?
As I recall, that model line of MacBook Pros needed an EFI firmware update to operate Boot Camp. Before the mid-2006 speed bump, these models also needed an SMC firmware patch. With the EFI update, your "Boot ROM revision" should be MBP11.0055.B08
If you can boot to Safe Mode, try using the Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features applet in your Control Panel to uninstall the ATI driver properly. Should that fail, search out "ATI Catalyst Uninstaller" using your favorite Web crawler. The first thing to come up should be AMD's uninstall tool, which you can then run to get rid of the driver.
Once you've done this, reinstall the ATI software from your Leopard/Boot Camp DVD and re-run the Boot Camp 2.1 patch from the Web; this should properly update the ATI software and get you back on track.
We would also need to rule out whether a recent update caused this issue, in which case rolling back to a prior restore point may help. You may lose documents created between the restore point time and the present, but this is normal.
The only other possibility I can suggest is to rebuild your entire Boot Camp setup and take notes as you get back up to the point where the blackout occurred. This way, you'll have some documentation handy whether you repost here or contact Apple directly.
    Good luck,
    Nate

  • L192W display very blurry after a few hours of operations

    I have a J115 with a L192W , GeForc6100 on board card.
I noticed recently that after a few hours of usage, the L192 screen becomes blurry where every icons, windows or text has a shadow.
If I turn off the power for a few minutes, the problem goes away for a while and then came back.
    Anyone has similar experience?
    THanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

after a couple of months tinkering with different solutions, i happened to see my neighbor on his way to the PC-recycle place to recycle his 12 yo CRT monitor from Viewsonic .  The monitor came with a old (but thick) VGA cord.
I asked if I can try that before he recycles it.   That was the solution.
My guess is that the stock VGA cable that came with the monitor was not shielded properly and it picked up some interferences from some other electrical sources or something.
Anyway hope that helps someone else in the future
PS: I ended up recycling the new stock L192 VGA cable and use the 12 year old Viewsonic VGA cable instead.

  • Philips Magnavox 17in display is very blurry

I just bought a Mac Mini and hooked it up to my Magnavox 17in widescreen TV. It says it has 1280 x 768 pixel res and 500:1 contrast ratio, which looks to be as good as most LCD monitors I've seen. But when I hook it up to the computer the screen is very blurry. Any suggestions on how to clear it up?

Is 1280x768 the native resolution? I know I had problems with my Compaq 7020 monitor being fuzzy at anything BUT the native resolution no matter what settings I played with.
Also, I'd check each of the frequencies the monitor can display at at each resolution. At the native resolution of the Compaq (1280x1024), it could DISPLAY at both 60Hz and 75Hz, but it was MUCH clearer at 60Hz.

  • Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.13 documents and InDesign CS6 looks very blurry on retina screen

I received an upgrade to my Adobe creative suite 5.5 to CS6.
On my macbook pro retina late 2013 15 inch screen, I currently have Adobe CS6 Design Premium, among these apps, I got Adobe acrobat pro, and recently updated my Acrobat Pro to 10.1.13. However, documents in this app have very blurry text.
I also have adobe InDesingn CS6 version 8.0, and text looks blurry on this as well.
are there any updates to these apps so they look ok on my retina screen? or does CS6 not support retina?

    Hi missartist,
Could you please try this out:
Open Acrobat and go to "Edit -> Preferences -> Page Display"
Under Smooth Text label, please select 'For Laptop/LCD screens' and click ok.
Now, check if the text still looks blurry.
    Let me know.

  • Emac Monitor Gone Very Blurry?

    Hi,
The EMAC last night was fine when I got home from work, I read an email, then all of a sudden the display went blurry - like the effect on some slideshows, except it never recovered. Changing the resolution to 640 x 480 helps slightly but it's still basically not very readable. I unplugged the whole thing for 3 hours and when I turned it back on it was still as bad, if not worse.
Any ideas what this could be or what to do? I think it must be a hardware issue since we haven't changed any settings - all I did was look at an email!
    Thanks in advance!
    Lisa Jane

    Lisa Jane etal,
I had the exact same problem in early March 06 and had steady blurriness for 8 days. My eMac 1.25 GHz is 2 years old and now running OS X 10.3.9 without any other troubles. I tried all the fixes listed in the posts at the time without success. While I was researching new LCD monitors on the web one morning, my wife came by and said, "That looks much better". I hadn't noticed, but the problem corrected during the session. I couldn't determine exactly when. I was preoccupied with my search. That morning, the only thing I did to the system was to update a photo editor program supplied by my camera company. It took a long time to optimize the HD after loading, but otherwise updated normally. Previously I installed Anacron v2.3 pl2, a program which initiates maintainence, that would normally be performed during the night by the MacX system, when the eMac is shut down. I usually leave my eMac in sleep mode. I installed Anacron to initiate the periodic maintainence during my random shutdowns. The monthly or weekly one may have corrected the blur for me, and I didn't notice it on the following startup. This is only a guess on my part. I really don't have the skills to assess such things.
I posted this good news, in case someone else still has hope that their blur problem can be corrected. I bough a new LCD 19" wide monitor anyway, and am enjoying the demonstration advantages this gives to two people viewing the screen data side by side. The Mac plug in adapters should also make it easy to use the new LCD monitor with 12 inch iBooks when my kids bring them by to show us their work and their many photos and slide shows.
Both monitors are still working great, but if trouble hits again, I won't have to ruin my eyes with blur for 8 days, trying to find the fix again.
The ScreenSpanningDoctor program reported in these discussions, and widely elsewhere, looks like a helpful addition to my two monitor new situation. I will try it for sure, if my eMac screen stays good, and I need wider viewing for future work with spreadsheets or photo editing.
Sorry I didn't report this good news earlier. My logon didn't work, and I hesitated to initiate a new account when the number of posts on this blur problem stopped for a while. Did anyone else have any success?

  • Can anyone help me solve the problem of text displaying very rough on my new ASUS PA279Q display monitor running off my MacBook Pro?

This is regarding a brand new ASUS PA 279Q, 2560 x 1440 IPS monitor. I'm connected via mini display port (into thunderbolt port on MacBook Pro) to display port on ASUS monitor; using cable ASUS included with the monitor. Mid 2012 MacBook Pro…full specs at bottom of this post.
I have resolution set at 2560 x 1440 which is the native resolution according to the ASUS spec. I tried the other resolutions available in my System Preferences and text displayed rough with those settings too. I've tried adjusting contrast, brightness and sharpness via the ASUS control panel and didn't solve the problem. Also tried calibrating via Mac's system preferences/display and that did not improve text display either. All the text on this monitor (no matter what software I launch, Finder, InDesign, Illustrator, MS Word, Excel, VMWare Windows XP, Windows versions of Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc, all are consistently rendering text the same way ---  ROUGH and with "HALOS" around each letter.
All point sizes of text and at various scales, display very rough on the screen. (My comparison is the retina display of my MBP and a Thunderbolt…so those two displays are my expectations.) I'm using the same MBP for both a Thunderbolt display (at work) and this ASUS at my home office.
On the ASUS it's not as noticeable when the text is on white backgrounds, but I'm a graphic designer and compose images with text all day everyday. Not to mention the specs on this ASUS PA279Q indicate it's built for the professional so I would expect better text rendering. I haven't even addressed color calibration and balance yet, because that won't matter to me if the text won't display any better than it is now.
I was so hopeful after researching all the specs on this monitor it would be a viable alternative to the glossy display of the Thunderbolt display. (Which, I do love the Thunderbolt display for it's clarity and how it displays crisp, clean text at all sizes. (This ASUS actually displays text decently if I increase the text so each letter is about 4" high. Which is pointless for practical purposes -- that'd be like doing page layout through a microscope!)
I kept holding off on getting a monitor for the home office thinking the Thunderbolt would be updated soon. I'd be sick if I dropped a grand on piece of 2011 technology only to learn a few days later an updated Thunderbolt display hit the market! Not to mention, I'm praying Apple comes out with a less reflective Thunderbolt display. The glare and reflection is the main reason I looked elsewhere for a large monitor; hence my asking for help. Hoping the ASUS text display issue can be worked out. My expectation is for it to display like the MBP retina and Thunderbolt display text. That possible?
Alternatively, I guess I could do the Apple Refurb Thunderbolt at $799. And see if there's a decent aftermarket anti-glare I could stick on it?
Thanks for reading my post. Hope someone can help; offer any suggestions? Words or wisdom?
Has anyone else had similar issues and figured out a resolution? Help!

  • I have a one year old Macbook Air 13.  I have a brand new 22" external monitor.  When I connect my  external monitor it initially provides a nice display - very accurate and  no distortions.  But, within a few minutes the screen begins a incessant series

I have a one year old Macbook Air 13.  I have a brand new 22" external monitor.  In turning the Macbook and monitor on, the monitor displays very well, but within a few minutes it begins this incessant blinking (temporary black out of the screen that lasts anywhere from 1-5 seconds).  This has been going on for a long time (it also happended with my older monitor which apparantly I threw out when I should have kept it thinking it was the problem).  From reading various blogs in the Apple support community, this appears to be a widespread problem, but I don't find a solution, only a lot of speculation.  I'm very surprised the Apple folks haven't figured this out.   As a new Apple user, heretofor, I have been very impressed with the support and effort to get fixes out to users.  This, however, has me frustrated to the point of junking my Mac and going back to a PC.  I love the Macbook Air and most of the functionality, but I cannot function without an external monitor. Anybody have any ideas, please help.  Frustrated, Jim

Your dsplay is getting extended onto the external monitor. Chcnage the setting to duplicate it or only display on the external monitor and you should be fine,
Let me know if this worked for you.

  • Display very slow in RH8

    Hi all,
I just upgraded to RH8 (via TCS 2). If I try to display a
topic from the Project tab (double-click or right-click>Edit),
it takes 5 to 10 seconds to actually display the topic in the
Design tab - repeated for each topic, it makes things very very
slow. When the topic at last displays, it's another 3 seconds for
the cursor to appear after I click within the topic. The same thing
happens each time I click back and forth between Design and any
    other pod.
I searched the forums and KB but the problem has never been
reported with RH8. Performance used to be an issue in RH7 with
iWYSIWYG.dll. I tried to revert to a former version of this dll but
my topics would no longer be recognized.
My PC is brand new, 2Go RAM, 2.53 Ghz, running Windows XP SP3
    Any idea what's happening?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys,
I'm still scratching my head on this.
To answer Peter, things go wrong as soon as I import one file
from an existing project in my newly created project. This will
also import the related css and images. I found that if I apply
default.css (the one created from scratch) to the imported files,
things seem to be better but not much and not always.
I then tried every possible test working on the imported css,
thinking the problem lied there. There was something strange
indeed. All paragraph styles were duplicated under list styles with
the prefix Kadov-P (eg Kadov-PNormal). I deleted those, saved and
    compiled.
The paragraph styles appeared duplicated again under List
styles, this time with the prefix P- or H-. Deleted those again and
now they seem to be gone for good. But the topics still display
    very slowly.
What baffles me is that this behaviour is random. If all
topics do display slowly, some will be very slow (one amounted to
20 seconds!), others less so. This is not linked to topic size, nor
to the presence of particular elements (images, bookmarks or
whatever). the HTML code is clean (at least, W3C compliance
    validation won't report anything serious).
Well, if you have any more ideas, they'll be very welcome.
    Thanks
    Dominique

  • Keynote presentation very blurry after exporting from imovie 08

    1. export keynote presentation as Quicktime .h264 size 512x384. The exported file is a .mov and the picture quality very good.
    2. Import .mov file into imovie as an event.
    3. Create a new project and drag event into project
    4. Share/export using quicktime
    5. End result is .mov but picture quality very blurry
Any suggestions as to why the final result is so poor quality?
I have tried most combinations of file type/settings/filters.
    Any help would be appreciated
    jebriordan

I converted it to QuickTime using the codec and frame rate you mentioned, but when I opened the converted file in FCE, the video played but there was only beeping for the audio.
I'm not sure what you meant by making my sequence settings and my media settings match, if you could give me a step by step to check that, that would be helpful. (I'm very new to this, so I don't really understand what you're talking about there.) My camera shoots in .mod format. I think iMovie then imports my .mod files and saves them as .mpeg files. Then it saves my projects as .m4v files. (That may be incorrect. That's just my guess as to why I had the movie in .m4v format, because I didn't do anything to it other than save it.)

  • How can NI FBUS Monitor display very large recorded files

NI FBUS Monitor version 3.0.1 outputs an error message "Out of memory", if I try to load a large recorded file of size 272 MB. Is there any combination of operating system (possible Vista32 or Vista64) and/or physical memory size, where NI FBUS Monitor can display such large recordings ? Are there any patches or workarounds or tools to display very large recorded files?

    Hi,
NI-FBUS Monitor does not set the limitation on the maximum record file size. The physical memory size in the system is one of the most important factors that affect the loading of large record file.  Monitor will try loading the entire file into the memory during file open operation.
272MB is a really large file size. To open the file, your system must have sufficient physical memory available.  Otherwise "Out of memory" error will occur.
I would recommend you do not use Monitor to open a file larger than 100MB. Loading of a too large file will consume the system memory quickly and decrease the performance.

  • Quality of slideshow on dvd very blurry

Hi I used iPhoto to create a slideshow of my son with ken burns effect. When I play the slideshow in iPhoto, it is silky smooth. But when I use iDVD to burn the slideshow to DVD and play back the slideshow on a DVD player and normal TV set, the ken burns effect is very blurry and you can see the individual pixels as the image pans. Can anyone help me on how to create a slideshow on DVD which has as good quality as that when played in iPhoto?
Macbook Black   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   30GB iPod Video Black

    linusloo:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I'm not surprised because the images have to go thru two rendering/encoding processes when done that way. iPhoto converts it to a QT movie then rendering the images to a different size and pixel type, from square to rectangle (or it may be the other way around). Then when encoded by iDVD it gets further compressed to fit on the DVD disk.
I found the best image quality is obtained by importing the still photos into iDVD and creating the slideshow entirely in iDVD. You can't have the KB effect and can only have one transition per slideshow buy the image quality, IMO, if much better. Also iDVD lets you add titles and/or comments at the bottom of any slide you choose.

You are not speaking to Apple here. So none of us can "fix it."
TRy try quitting the Photos app followed by a reset of the ipad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
