Viewsonic VX2739wm on Macbook Pro 15" - Fuzzy

I just purchased on of these monitors to use as a main, external display for my 15" Macbook Pro (Model 5,3). According to reviews, the display (though not perfect) should be sharp and good enough for gaming and general computer use.
Not the case here.
I'm connected via the display's DVI port, using the Apple Displayport-to-DVI adapter. I've tried different setting on the monitor, but still have fuzzy, slightly pixelated text. I'm running the monitor's native resolution of 1920x1080. I've also connected my PS3 via HDMI and the image is not as sharp. Most reviews (PC users) says this monitor is sharp. Is this a Mac driver issue? Unfortunately, there are no Mac video drivers for this display (only PC).
My Samsung B2330 was tack-sharp on this Macbook Pro, so I am trying to figure out why this 27" display is fuzzy.
Anyone else having similar issues?

What you are seeing is a limitation of your display. 1920 x 1080 is a low resolution for a 27" computer monitor that will be viewed from 2-3 feet away. It's fine for a 27" TV set that will be viewed from 8-12 feet away, but when used as a monitor, its great big pixels (closer in size to those of a 1984 Mac screen than to any current Mac display) simply can't render details or text finely enough for close viewing. Apple's 30-inch 2560 x 1600 Cinema Display had the same problem, but not nearly as bad. That's probably why Apple has replaced it with a 27" model at 2560 x 1440. That 27" display, like several other high-end 27" monitors on the market, has 78% more pixels with which to render sharp detail than yours has.

  • Using Viewsonic vx2433wm on MacBook Pro (late 2013)

    Hi,
I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite. I'm trying to connect it to a ViewSonic vx2433wm monitor. I'm connecting the monitor to the Mac using a VGA cable & Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter.
The Mac recognises the monitor as a generic display. It does not allow for me to set the full range of resolutions (i.e. it doesn't allow for 1920x1080, which the monitor is capable of doing).
How do I either get the Mac to recognise the monitor or force it to set different resolutions?
    cheers,
    Michael

  • One week old Macbook Pro 17" fuzzy green screen

I have had my Macbook Pro 17" for one week and enjoying it. When I awakened it from sleep, it had fuzzy green lines throughout the display. After browsing the internet for about an hour the fuzzy green lines disappeared and then reappeared randomly. Any suggestions about why this is happening and how to fix this. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
This sounds like it could be a hardware problem of some sort. Best thing would be to take it to an Apple Store for evaluation. Since it's only a week old, you may be able to get an exchange rather than a repair.
    Good luck!

  • Viewsonic VX2739WM and Mac Pro

    Hi,
I just want to know what I should check if I want to have a monitor that can work with my Mac Pro.
This is the information of graphics card of my Mac Pro. Viewsonic VX2739WM is the monitor that I'd like to have for the Mac Pro. The amazon link is

I just do not know if this monitor can be used with my Mac Pro.
    I will appreciate answers.

Hi. Did you end up buying this monitor? I just connected it to my Mac Pro as a second display, although I have a different graphics adapter (RadeonX1900). Compared to my Apple 30" display, the color looks quite washed out. I'm not sure if I will keep it.

  • My macbook pro making fuzzy noises

    hi
i get fuzzy noises when i am transffering data. a lot of time i get random fuzzy parts on part of my internet browser or software has anybody got any idea of why it is doing this

  • Macbook pro webcam fuzzy

clicked on my photo booth today and the webcam on my mac seemed fuzzy/blurry
It is not horrible but you can definitely tell that the image is not as crisp and clear as it was. The only thing i have tried is restarting my computer.
Could use some help if anyone knows what to do.
    Thank You.

I have seen this problem under two different scenarios.  First time was when I tried to load jabber on my mac.  All I got was a greenish screen.  After doing some research, I discovered that the same kind of problem occurred with Skype users and it was associated with photobooth. So, I stopped photobooth and the problem went away.
The other situation was when some of our users upgraded to Maverick.  So, the older version of Jabber would not work (camera would not work).  So, we got a newer version of jabber for mac and the problem went away.

  • Hi I have a MacBook Pro 2011 i7 and it stays on for about 4 hours then the screen go's fuzzy and I have to turn it off by the power button has anyone had this problem thanks mike

I Have a MacBook Pro i7 2011 it stays on for about 4 hours then the screen go's all fuzzy and I have to turn it off by the power button has any body else had this problem thanks mike

My guess would also be a failling connection between your logicboard and your GPU. See 2011 MacBook Pro and Discrete Graphics Card
For most users it starts with some random crashes and freezes like you describe it. And then it just gets worse and worse. There are still no "good" solutions, sadly. This is a hardware problem from the production.

  • Resolution of MacBook Pro display - always this fuzzy??

I should have done my homework, but...
I'm very sensitive to the fuzziness of the MacBook Pro display (especially the nearly grey and poorly defined letters on Word) and, to tell the truth, it's making my stomach turn and giving me a headache. I just received this computer through work, can't return it, and I'm stuck with it for three years now. what can I do or purchase to make the display CRYSTAL CLEAR (as in laser print quality)?
Will an external monitor help? Which one?
How can my iPod touch look so brilliant and this $2,500 laptop so archaic?
Thanks for any and all help,
    Ants

The reason your iPod Touch looks sharper is that it has a much higher pixel density than the MBP. Your iPod's screen is 163 ppi (pixels per inch) versus 110 ppi for the MBP. However, if it looks very fuzzy, I would agree with the other responder that your resolution isn't set to the screen's native resolution (1440 x 900) or that you are zoomed in (press control and scroll down on your mouse scroll wheel or two-fingered scroll on with the trackpad).

  • MacBook Pro Mid-2010 Intermittent Shut-Down and Fuzzy Screen

    Hi,
My MacBook Pro Mid-2010 has been having some problems recently. Hope someone will be able to help me with this. Below are the symptoms that has been showing.
    Symptoms:
    1. Intermittent Shutdown
    2. Screen going fuzzy (when I give it a slight tap it will be fine but everything just hangs)
    3. 3 beep sound
    4. Can't start up (The sleep light will just stay on but nothing appears. I have to force shutdown and try starting it again.)
I have recently done a clean install of Yosemite but the problem is still occuring.
I also took it down to Singapore Apple Service Centre to try to get the problem fixed. But the initial tests shows that all the components in the Mac is working fine. I will need to pay for a full test as my Mac is out of warranty hence I did not send it in.
Below is a copy of the recent log after it shut down by itself.
Appreciate if someone can help me with this!
    Thank you!
    Regards,
    Kai Yuan

I just had the same problem! Just installed Mavericks a couple of days ago but everything was running perfectly till just a couple of minutes ago watching netflix and working on Dreamweaver my macbook just shutdown. I had to Turn it back on and in the first try it shutdown immediatelly again, then i tried for second time and as soon as i got back into my account a bunch of programs start sending erros as my clock was set to a different date. My battery seems to be fine, i even check the report in the system preferences, it had 50% of battery and was plugged in so i am guessing that is not the problem.
    Here the report:
    Charge Information:
      Charge Remaining (mAh):          3356
      Fully Charged:          No
      Charging:          Yes
      Full Charge Capacity (mAh):          6626
      Health Information:

      Condition:          Normal
I had to have my motherboard replaced last year as my macbook its a 15 inch Mid 2010 so i took it to Mac Store.. they didnt charge me for anything as it is a problem that Apple acknowledge the problem was in their side. I am just hoping i dont have to deal with this again.

The monitor inputs is DVI.  Since the plugs do not match up...an oversite on my part when buying the monitors online, I am hoping to run these 2 monitors from mini displayport to DVI.  However, 2 external monitors requires a hub like the DualHead2Go DP Edition
However!  This device has many poor reviews on Amazon and I am concerned about spending the money and wasting the time on a device when there may be a better option.
At this point I dont plan on using the macbook screen while using the twin 24" screens.
The answer to this problem is not an easy one to solve and the answeres to my questions I am finding are bringing up new concerns...for example, learning that the Matrox above mentions that Hz compatability which i had never previously though of, may have been a problem to consider...depending on the monitor...however, i think im good here.
Can someone baby step me through the process and exactly what components I need to get these 2 External monitors working properly via my macbook pro?
Note: Please do not be an arrogant computer d!k.  I have already had 1 person act like a smart @ss when all I need is a real answer...not someone else Googling a 10 second easy answer and responding with sarcasm...I am quite familiar with a Boolean search...thanks but I am looking for someone with EXPERIENCE...not a search engine
*Would it be easier or cheaper for me to return these moitors and get different monitors with different plugs?
I appreciation all the input and assistance anyone can provide...I'm pretty new to the mac world.
    BTW.
The system will be used for the Adobe CS5 Suite (mostly Illustrator and Photoshop), Pro Tools 10, Serato SL3, Video Editing (mostly iMovie) and browsing.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2.66 GHz COre 2 Duo 8 GB RAM

    Hey drexfarrakhan,
Thanks for the question. For video, you can use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable or adapter. Our online store has a few offerings:
Mini DisplayPort to HDMI - Apple Store (U.S.)
    http://store.apple.com/us/search/Mini-DisplayPort-to-HDMI#!
However, your MacBook only supports video out via this connection:
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
So you’ll need an external stereo or speakers to output the sound to, using the headphone out port and a 3.5mm cable (or adapter, if needed):

I've found mention of this bug in a bug report for the Netbeans IDE and from the information present over there it seems that the blurred text issue should be solved with the latest version of JDK7 (later than 7u40 build b28). Could you please try updating the JDK and see if the issue is solved?
I am really curious to know if the issue is fixed.
Updating the JDK fixed the fuzzy rendering Unfortunately it's introduced a new problem where the UI font (not the code editor font) is too big.

  • Macbook pro desktop won't display via my viewsonic dlp projector

When I connect my macbook pro to my viewsonic projector, the projection image isn't my screen displayed.  If I take my web browser and move it to the left off the view of the desktop, it then becomes visible via the projection.  adjustments on the projector or the notebook display don't remedy the issue. Please help

if you want it to show the same thing on both screens go to system prefs>displays>arrangement(tab)>mirror displays (at the bottom left of this screen).
now you'll be able to mirror the displays and see what your laptop is showing and also the other way around.

  • I have a very tiny, fuzzy black speck on the screen of my Macbook Pro 15".

I have a very tiny, fuzzy black speck on the screen of my Macbook Pro 15". It doesn't resemble dead pixels I've encountered in the past (it is only visible behind a white or brightly colored background), and I'm positive it isn't sitting on the surface. The computer is only a year and a half old and my software is up to date.

    Hi austinbread,
It is hard to tell exactly what your issue with the MacBook Pro’s display is, but it is possible that there is a pixel anomaly. See this article for further information -

  • HT204291 my airplay from my MacBook Pro to my tv through my apple tv is fuzzy- it just started being fuzzy about 2 months ago- it used to be clear- anyone else have this problem?  How can I fix it?

    Hi freezebri,
The following steps may resolve your issue:
    Apple TV: Basic troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1551
If your TV screen appears fuzzy or black (you see no video)
Make sure the television you are using supports the Apple TV resolution requirements. Please see the Apple TV technical specifications.
When you connect power, check to make sure the LED turns on. If the LED is not on, then verify with a known good power outlet or connect something else to the outlet you're using for Apple TV and make sure it works (such as a lamp or clock).
Make sure you're using the correct video cables and that they are connected firmly to Apple TV and to your TV.
Connect the HDMI cable directly into the Apple TV and your television, remove any third party devices or adapters.
Make sure the input setting you've selected on your TV matches the input you have your video cables connected to. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.
Change the Apple TV resolution by pressing and holding the Menu and Up button for six seconds. The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals. Pressing the Selectbutton will immediately cycle to the next resolution.
If you are connected via HDMI, try unplugging and replugging your HDMI cable.
If HDMI isn't working on an Apple TV (1st generation), try component cables instead (and disconnect the HDMI cable temporarily). Read more about HDMI vs component video.
    Hope this information helps ...

  • Connect 2 ViewSonic 21" monitors to MacBook Pro ?

Can I connect 2 ViewSonic 21" 1080p LED monitors to my MacBook Pro 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, Mavericks?  I own one 21" ViewSonic which I connected and it works fine and I would like to buy a second monitor of the same make and daisychain it.  If this is possible, what cables do I need?  TIA,   Allan

The Belkin KVM is for connecting one display to two computers.  It will not do what you want.
You could connect the second display via USB, but it will have limited performance.
