Vignette Banding/Lines

Using the latest version of Premiere Pro with Magic Bullet Looks. When using the 'vignette' effect (either through MB Looks or using a circular gradient in Premiere) there are very pronounced 'banding' or lines throughout the gradient. These are more obvious in darker areas. Have tried on different screens, etc... Cannot figure out why this issue is happening.
See short clip example:

Please help! Thanks!

I cant see them in the "short" clip.
Up your bitrate  whatever.

  • Why are banded lines more prominent on photo paper?

My HP 1350 is pretty good for an inexpensive printer, but it does produce banded lines when there's a lot of black or anything like that. For that reason, I haven't experimented much with printing on photo paper. But I just now tried again, doing a regular paper test, then a photo paper version. The bands/lines showed up much more prominently on the photo paper. Any fixes for this (besides buying a better printer)?
    Thanks very much --
    Christine

There are a couple of things that can affect print quality.
If you are just doing everyday printing, chances are it will just be a copy, fair at best.
If on the other hand you want a pristine copy the best you can get.
You will have better luck with a Photo Program like the older Photo Deluxe for OS 9 or Classic, and the newer Photoshop or CS all are Adobe and will allow you to reformat to TIFF Format that is historically the best format to use for the highest quality.
If you are working with a JPG photo or picture that you can't enhance the resolution from the raw work you will only be able to use the printer Preferences.
It appears that each new printer that HP comes out with they change this function just a little.
Go to FILE and click print, then a Box will open and under the General tab it will give you your Paper options choose your paper, then you should have 4 additional options of Draft, Normal, Best, and High Res.
These can vary as I mentioned earlier depending on your printer but they are there.
So if you choose the best or High Res option you are only going to get whatever the quality of the Original is unless you enhance it and or change formats.
Normal JPG's that are used on most web sites and you see are rarely any better than 144dpi the higher the dpi the larger the file and the better the quality.
I try to use 300 dpi on everything, this way I know you get what you see.
The downside to this is the very large size of the file. Most people don't want to use up there space by saving large files, So, it depends on what you are doing and for what purpose will determine the finished quality.
    Hope this helps..Don

  • Vertical banding lines on iPhone4 still capture

I found that there are vertical banding lines on captured images. on another iphone4 there are no such kind of vertical banding lines.
Is there anybody who has the same issue?

i dont have vertical lines but there's a darker spot when i tried to take pics on light coloured background. and the spot gets bigger and switches to another place when i tried to take video. it's definitely the camera coz i dont see the spot when i looked at the pictures i imported into the phone.
does that happen to anyone else?

  • Broad band line amplifier

Hi all,I am alex and am new to the forum,
earlier on this year I was contacted by BT to see if I would participate in a trial of an amplifier on my line to improve my problem BB speeds(rural location, overheads for a mile to cabinet on main rd then about 3 1/2 miles to exchange)at best 1056Kbts at worst 120Kbs,joyfully said yes please to line amp and when fitted lo and behold 2.25Mbts ,heaven (for me at least) sadly 4 months later phone call to say trial is ending and amp being removed!
so now backdown to 982Kbs,question is of any Bt presence on here ,have you heard of these trials and do you know if the outcome was sufficiently good to encourage BT to produce these amps for use ? was told by engineer that there were plans to produce these as multi user units to feed "clusters" at the end of a long line.
any info would be wellcomed,as recent contact with India over poor line speeds and constantly changing line profile is getting wearing to say the least, thanks all Alex

Hi sorry couldn't get back sooner have been tied upwith family problems, have spoken to BT and nice lady in India did line tests but could not work out why the problem so escalated it to her  "level 2" dept' ? they phoned and again did line test and came back and said my line profile was too low and they would reset it,and keep an eye on it for the next 10 days and on the magic day 11 all will be well !
I told them that looking at my hub stats (home hub 3) that the time on  "line" kept changing (after 4days on line it would show an online time of say 10 hours ! it would seem that I am suffering from random dissconections and that the exchange equipment is constantly trying to renegotiat a stable line speed
My hub is plugged into a filtered master socket (rj45 and phone skt)
availability check says my line is good for up to 1.5Mbts
router stats as follows (if I can work out how to paste it in here)
normally line speed used to be fairly stable at around 1024Kbs which I have to live with because of line limitatons, but this is now getting wearing as even using Skype to talk to family on the south coast is painfull
thanks for your help hope info is enough for you to work with,Alex

  • Red vertical banding lines in Photoshop CC images - suspect is latest Nvidia drivers

Anyone getting this in their images when viewing at 25% or under? The problem goes away if I uncheck Use Graphics Processor and then restart Photoshop CC, so my latest suspect in this mystery is the latest update by Nvidia, their 335.23 drivers. Has anyone had this issue and successfully got it to stop by reverting back to an older Nvidia driver set?
I'm running Photoshop CC 64-bit, latest version, on Windows 8.1, latest updates applied. I just built the PC 3 months ago, has i7 4930K, 32GB ram, dedicated separate SSDs for C drive and Adobe Scratch Disk, and yes, I did uninstall and reinstall PS CC and selected "Remove Pref Files". I'm fairly sure it's the latest Nvidia driver that's causing the issue. Oh, graphics card is EVGA GTX 770, this model.
I'll paste in the long hairy list of info from Photoshop, but there won't be any more of my wording below it. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have three onboard raid0 all attached directly to a Gigabyte X79-UD5 using Intel Enterprise driver.  The boot driver I mention is a new thing, which I added after a major system crash left me needing a clean reinstall.
When I first built the system it had no raid0 at all - just a single 'Raptor I had hoped to use for the Project drive, but PremPro wouldn't play nicely with that, so I had to add another and raid0 them.  I could scrub the timline smoothly after that with as many tracks on the timeline as I needed, (all 1080 H.264)  I lost one of those Velociraptors, so replaced with a pair of 6th gen 1Tb V'raptors in raid0.  They give me 350Mbs continuous, but their 4k speed is still not special.
I also have a pair of WD1Tb Blacks in a raid0 for Exports, my docs, and I used to keep cache, and other large files on that drive before I upgraded the boot drive.
Altogether I have 18Tb because of the need to back up the video, which is done with USB3 externals.  I recently added a Seagate 4Tb USB3 external (to help organise files while reinstalling everything) and that is showing 185Mb/s sequentual, which is much faster than my single drive internals!  I guess they just keep making things better.

  • Help! Colour banding graphics problem /posterization?

    Hi.
I've been having a few problems lately with colour banding/gradients/posterization. I first noticed it 3 or 3 days ago in photoshop, and seem to have noticed it's mostly system wide. I ask her because you're all clever and I don't have a clue what to do next! So please help me!
Quoted from my thread somewhere else that I've had no luck with and was recomendded to try here...
Since yesterday whenever I'm using Photoshop and there is blurred edges/gradients etc, basically not solid colours, there is really noticeable sharp colour banding lines around it.
It's happened before and I've accidentally had it on 8-bit instead of 16-bit, but I've checked all that and it's on 16-bit.
I've googled it and the only suggestion was about duplicating the layer and blurring it then adding noise, but that didn't even work.
[EDIT] SINCE THEN I HAVE REALISED IT IS AFFECTING SYSTEM WIDE GRADIENTS AND COLOURS
My system is set to Highest 32-bit too. I changed it to 16-bit to see what happened and it made the banding 10 times worse.
    An example of the problem
Posted: Thu May 03, 2012 7:32 pm    Post subject:
It's supposed to be a smooth gradient. I didn't use the gradient tool, I used the brush tool with solid white and then smudged and blurred it like I always do.
That's a good point, and actually I did start it as an 8-bit originally (my photoshop has been starting as 8-bit, grayscale for a few weeks now and I don't know why) but then after I remembered and changed it to 16-bit, and noticed the banding, I closed that document and started a new one and changed it to 16-bit RGB when the pop-up for a new document came up.
The resolution is always 72pixels/inch, and the size 256x512, colour mode RGB.
In advanced it says colour profile Working RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 which I have no clue what means, and I never usually click advanced so I don't know if that is usually that or different.
When I use the brush tool and blur and smudge it it's fine, with no banding. It's only when I lower the opacity of that layer, or use Hue/Saturation and Lightness to darken it so it's hardly visible that the banding appears.
I've just tried it again with a fresh new document and it's still the same. Even in 32-bit it's exactly the same.
It's done it before, and all I did was close and reopen Photoshop and it was all fine again, but this time it happened last night and since then I have restarted my computer, had it turned off for hours, and I've even tried it on gimp and it's the same.
Ruled out that it's my monitor, tried a different one that I know works perfectly and it's still the same.
I've double checked all drivers, and monitor profiles, and drivers for my monitor, and colour profiles, and colour management, my graphics card settings, device manager for problems with any hardware, and everythings coming back fine. Could it be that my graphics card is old and just needs replacing? I'm not good with which one to buy so would getting a new one the same be of any help? The computer is about 6 years old, and the only thing changed on it is the RAM and hard drive.
I don't really want to end up not using this computer anymore if it's a simple graphics card issue, I just don't know how to tell if it is.
The thread that is from is here if you want to see some suggestions I've already had.http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&t=423942 &postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
My username is 'Ao'  on there so that is me explaining the problem.
    To add to that...
Here is another example of what is happening.
I'm thinking from all the answers I got from google its a graphics card problem. Only problem is all the updates are installed, and I can't find anywhere that sells my graphics card to buy a new one. So I need to know which graphics card will work with my system right now?
I've done some tests so you can see my system details. Im clueless with which one to buy so please help.

Thank you for the reply, you seem to know what you're on about.
When I go to color managment in the first tab, devices, where it says profiles associated with this device it is empty, and 'use my settings for this device' is unticked. It says device at the top and mine says 'Display: Generic Pnp Monitor - Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family'.
I did try to set up my monitor and had the .icc file for it in that list that pops up when I tick use my settings and click add, and I think I did set the profile to be the one for my monitor. I can't remember exactly how I did it and where I get that .icc file from, I've been through so many settings and websites trying to fix this.
It's not like I've recently changed any hardware or anything or my monitor, I was on photoshop one minute and it worked fine, then the next it just didn't. It's so strange because all I was doing at the time was using photoshop and I don't understand how it can go from working fine to all these problems with graphics and the banding. It's so confusing.
I can noticeably see banding on that image. It is still a gradient and smooth to a degree, but there is obvious lines of colour differences, and a harsher line on the outside.
Is that smooth for you? For me there is very obvious banding, especially at the top on the white on black.
I just don't know what else to do. I've tried everything I can think of, and spent hours upon hours on google. I've even tried a system restore to put it back to how it was when it was working perfectly, but it's still the same. I tried it on another monitor, just plug and play, and it was the same. Is there an easy way to install a monitor properly so that it should in theory work perfect? Because you're talking about the monitor profile, but with the second one I tried to test it all I did was plug it in and it was still the same. I've even tried it on my tv, and as I remember I think it was less noticeable, but then again that might be because of my tv settings because my tv is quite dark.
Just clueless as to what else to do now. I don't want to go out and buy a new computer for £100's over this, as I don't really have the funds to do so but I need a computer so the only option would be to sell my new iphone that I only got last week! Which I obviously don't want to do. That's how desperate I am to fix this though.

  • Vignette in Speedgrade CC not showing up in Premiere CC via Direct Link

I used the Direct Link to SpeedGrade and did some color correction on some ProRes MOV files and added another Primary color correction with a vignette. When back in Premiere, the color corrections are fine but the vignette doesn't show up. Also, the vignette doesn't show up where the widget is placed. I have to move the mask widget to the left of the frame for the vignette circle to be in the center of the frame.

The footage is a 2K ProRes MOV scaled down. The vignette is still not showing up on the adjustment layer in Pr.
The weird thing is, in SpeedGrade, the vignette widget doesn't line up correctly on screen. I have to shift it way to the left out of frame for the vignette to line up correctly. Any ideas why this is happening? The Pr comp size is 640x640. Maybe that is effecting the vignette.

  • Lines when printing

Help, when i print from my Officejet Pro L7680 All-in-one, lines go through my printed pages.  Why?  Do I have to change the printer heads or is it something more?

    Hi bridgetm,
It actually depends on the lines you're getting. If it's vertical lines, then it's an alignment issue, if it's horizontal then it's the printhead causing it.
Check this articles: Print Quality Issues & Vertical Bands, Lines & Streaks
    Hope this works for you!

  • BLACK LINES EACH SIDE OF SHEET WHEN I AM SCANING A DOCUMENT

My machine is  hp officejet Pro 8500 A scanner  all in one
thank you very much to help me out with those black lines

    Hello,
Please let me take a moment to say "Welcome" to the HP Forums.
I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see that you are having an issue with lines or streaks on copies and scans.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Please click on the following link that troubleshoots Vertical Bands, Lines, or Streaks in Copies or Scans.
Please feel free to write back if you have any other questions or concerns.
    Cheers,

  • Office Jet Pro 8600 (Network) scanning black vertical lines

When I scan a text document in Black and White mode the image is obscured completely by vertical black lines. Get the same problem whether I use ADF or flatbed glass.  I can scan the same document as color and it works fine. Problem occurs whether I scan as a PDF or JPG file output. Attached a scan of empty faltbed glass. Happens only in Black and White mode.

    Hello ,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
It would appear that you may have an hardware failure on the Officejet 8600. It is possible to successfully troubleshoot this issue however.
I would first suggest; While the 8600 is on, remove the power from the back, connect the other end to a wall outlet directly (if connected to a surge or power bar) and then connect back to printer. Allow the printer to power on with nothing loaded in the ADF or on the glass and ensuring the lid is closed fully.
Check for and install any possible updates available: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates.
Try your Black and White copy now. If it still looks the same, you could try cleaning the glass for the flat bed and ADF and the white covers. However, I do not think it will help with with what you have said in your post.

  • HP Officejet 6500 Wireless Scaning black lines on copies

HP Officejet 6500 Wireless Scaning black lines on copies

Hello Dadbowling, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing lines in your copies.  I would like to help.
I would recommend removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend following the steps in this document on Vertical Bands, Lines, or Streaks in Copies, Faxes, or Scans.

  • Scanner and copy colored lines

i have the officejet 4500 all in one printer, it worked great for the longest time and now when i try to copy something it prints a page of colored lines, the same when i scan its just a pageof colored lines, has anyone had this issue? the printer still prints no problem its just the scan and copy function

    Hey @jess1860,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're having an issue with your copier/scanner on your HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today at resolving the coloured vertical lines that you're experiencing on your copies.
Does the vertical colour lines issue happen from both the flatbed glass and the automatic document feeder on the top of the printer?
If the issue is only affecting the flatbed or the automatic document feeder and not both than it is usually an issue with dirt on the scanning assembly that can be easily cleaned.
However, if the vertical lines are affecting copies from the flatbed and the automatic document feeder than it is either a power issue or a programming failure on your product.
Please follow the steps below to resolve your copy quality issue:
First, make sure your printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet for power.
Vertical Bands, Lines, or Streaks in Copies, Faxes, or Scans
Please let me know if these steps resolve your issue. Good luck!

  • Lines are coming while scanning the documents or copying the document

Horizontal lines are coming while scanning the documents or copying the document from fedder as well as glass

    Hi there @Aziz_Husain,
    Welcome to the HP Community!
I understand you are noticing horizontal lines when you make copies and scans, and I hope to help you.
Here are some steps I suggest that you try:
    Reset the printer:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Tip: Make sure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power.
Try all of the steps from this article: HP Officejet Pro 8500A (A910a and A910d) e-All-in-One Printers - Vertical Bands, Lines, or Streaks i...
Test a copy and test a scan now. If they still have lines through them, please contact us directly to inquire about your printer replacement options as you would need a new unit at this point.

  • Key out vertical banding?

I just shot some phantom footage and the sensor was messed up in the field. There wasn't any way to reset the camera in the field without risking camera failure so I just had to go with having messed up footage over no footage at all. My question is, is there any way to "key" out these vertical banding lines in premiere/after effects to just essentially mask them out of the image? Thanks in advance

i dont have vertical lines but there's a darker spot when i tried to take pics on light coloured background. and the spot gets bigger and switches to another place when i tried to take video. it's definitely the camera coz i dont see the spot when i looked at the pictures i imported into the phone.
does that happen to anyone else?
