Vignette in lightroom 5 results in gradient lines

When using the post crop vignette all my images have bad lines/gradient marks.
I was using the same camera on my previous laptop and had no problem.
My camera is a Pentax K5 ii shooting in RAW(DNG) sRGB at full 16mp.
My Laptop is an ASUS N550JK i7, with 2gb dedicated graphics card and 16GB RAM.
I can't understand what is going wrong but saving a RAW photos with vignette results in a 7mb photo that may aswel be a 600kb one.
please help.

I see very little banding in either of the DNGs and even less when I apply my own adjustments. I believe there are a couple of issues at work here.
The Asus N550JK laptop appears to use an LG LP156Wf4 panel:

Issue 1: This panel is only 6bits/color (262,144 colors) as described on Page 4 of the below datasheet. Even with a standard sRGB gamut gradient banding is going to be more visible.

Issue 2: The OP's Basic panel settings used are exacerbating the banding because the Highlights slider is set positive (+38), which is incorrect usage of the Highlights control for this image. In addition the 'As Shot' White Balance setting is incorrect (7350, +45).
Here are the settings I used. Try these settings and see if it helps to reduce the banding.
On my display there is ZERO banding visible with the above settings and Post-Crop Vignette of -100 Amount. BTW- My HP 2509m display is also a 6bit/color panel, but it uses Frame Rate Control (FRC) to achieve 8bit/color depth (16.7M colors). "Each pixel is divided into Red, Green and Blue sub-pixels or dots which are arranged in vertical stripes. Gray scale or the brightness of the sub-pixel color is determined with a 8-bit gray scale signal for each dot, thus, presenting a palette of more than 16,7M colors with Advanced-FRC (Frame Rate Control)."
It appears the LG LP156Wf4 panel in your Asus laptop does not incorporate FRC and is probably better suited for gaming. You can use an external monitor to overcome this issue.

Numbering query results with a line number in SQL*Plus

Doesn't it stand to reason that in SQL*Plus there would be a way to number each query results sequentially with line numbers starting at 1 to n -- something option like from a SET command? I'm not talking about linesize.

There's a column rownum the engine adds into the result sets, just add it to the select list. Can use it to limit the result set (with some limitations) i.e.:
select rownum, ... from ... where rownum <= 100
Can't use ">=", that condition will never be met but a subset could be used:
select * from ( select rownum as linenr, tab1.* from ... ) where linenr between 10 and 20

Diadem graph based on one channel resulting in multiple lines

Hi!
I'm new to diadem and have a question regarding creating graphs in diadem 10.2. I have created a channel and viewing results from the channel in a graph. The graph has text as x-channel and numeric results as y-channel (Pareto?). Now I want each new result corresponding to one label in the x-channel to be a new line in the graph, i.e. ten labels with 2 different results at each label (corresponding to two samples) should result in to lines in the graph. How can this be done in Diadem?

I'll try to explain my problem better: I have a channel with 20 results, the results are linked to two different samples, sample1(repeated ten times)=ten results, one for each parameter(parameter = x-axis), sample2= new ten results for the same parameters. I need to generate a new curve in the graph per sample, resulting in two curves. The problem I have is that I generate two curves (I think...) but the results on each curve are identical, the graph plots only the ten first values for both curves. I need a loop that writes the correct values for each sample to the curve, so when the samplename changes value a new curve in the graph is generated plotting the next ten values. I have added my code so you can look at it.

Gradient lines showing on imported photoshop images

I am using photoshop for the background of my captivate
videos - I can see the gradient lines when I play the video as (
next 5 slides ) I have tried increasing jpeg quality to 100
percent.
I am using png files ( save as png from photoshop) should i
save as to jpeg or well, there are lots of options to save in
photoshop - which is best for captivate -
Also - i use the standard 72 res - is that right ! I also
have fireworks but photoshop is much better so would prefer to use
that.

72dpi should be fine.
I save Photoshop images as 24 or 16bit (RGB) BMP files then
import those
into Captivate. It seems to retain the quality a lot better
than a
pre-compressed format like JPEG or PNG.

Chebychev Polynomial fitting results show multi lines

I am using "nonliear curve fit.vi" with defined Chebychev Polynomial function to fit XY data. Strangely, if I enlarge the upturn part, I clearly see the fitting results show multi-lines (2-4) . Please the the attached snapshot.

I found the reason: the data X values are not mononicaly, i. e. there are local oscillations at some region.
After sorting the raw data, the fitting results show single line.
Is the sorting of X values necessary before Chebychev Polynomial fitting?

Scheduled Reports results by Command Line

I have several reports that I schedule to run nightly in Discoverer 10G Desktop. How can I open the scheduled results using Command Line? Once open, I want to export the results as Excel. I can do a unscheduled report using the code below:
\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin\dis51usr.exe /connect username/password@report /apps_user /apps_responsibility "responsiblity name" /opendb "report name" /sheet "Exception Report" /parameter "parameter name" 'parameter value' /export XLS C:\TEMP\testexport1.xls
Is it possible to retrieve the scheduled results? How much of this could be done at command line and how much would have to be done in a third party scheduler?

How much of this could be done at command line and how much would have to be done in a third party scheduler? It would be better to do it all using a third party scheduler such as the windows task manager. You could schedule the export to run overnight using the task manager and a windows command file. You can search this forum or the LearnDiscoverer blog for more details on third party scheduling.

You can try grabbing different properties, and they will print out differently, displaying the data on the same line in some cases. For example, pipe your output to a "foreach-object" block, and then for each object print out the CounterSamples property.

This should all print on one line now. However, you also asked if there was a way to not have the server print out on every line. The way to control the format of these outputs is to use the "format-table" cmdlet. So you would pipe your output to format-table
and then give it various options. This is how you would pipe it (without any options).

Importing Raw images in Lightroom the image is vertical lines and can not work with it

My lightroom 5 catalog contains red lines on my images

Hi there, i have been using lightroom 5 for sometime now on my mac operating system, with very little problems. Upon opening my catalog today i have discovered red lines on my images which were not previously there before, and i don't know how this has happened, let alone how to get rid of them. I have read several forums of a similar error to do with photoshop cs5, these seem to suggest some error with the graphics card on the computer. has anyone else had the same or similar issue in the past and know how to fix this issue? HELP!! Return Key results in multiple lines down

Everytime I press the return key, pages returns at least 10 lines. i can't figure out what is going wrong. PLEASE HELP

Put the cursor where you just hit return. Bring up the Text Inspector, Text panel. Check the settings under Spacing for Line, Before Paragraph and After Paragraph. Those all control how much space results when you hit enter.
You probably want Before Para and After Para to be at zero. You might need to select all text before making the change.

Bug: query results sometimes lose line formatting

Steps:
1. Run a query on "arraycollection adobe flex null pointer"
Result: the 2nd search result "Flex 3 - Using the HitData object" from http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/charts_eventsandeffects_03.html has all the line-ends removed (see 1st screenshot). When I go to the URL, the code looks OK (see 2nd screenshot), so it seems likely that Blueprint is somehow mangling the file.

Lightroom 5 graduated filter no lines no center dot

Lightroom 5.6. When I use the graduated filter I do not get the lines to show me the boundaries. The pivot dot is not visible. I do not get a a hand to adjust the lines. There are no lines, no pivot point. Weird. The graduated filter is unusable in this mode. It used to work just fine.

In the Toolbar (lower left) make sure Show Edit Pins is not set to Never.

Closing paths not resulting in straight line

Hi,
When drawing a path, I sometimes find that when closing it (and seeing the circle to let you know you're about to), it sometimes doesn't make a straight line to but rather a curve. Why does that happen and how can it be avoided? Thanks.

More specifically, you have ClickDragged the last point before closing, unless you have ClickDragged the start/end Anchor Point and almost unavoidably changed the first segment.
To get s traight segment, you need to Click the last one before closing (and then Click the starting Anchor Point).
