VIP and Public Network on Extended Rac

Hi Everybody
I want to install Oracle Extended Rac on two Sites which is 25Km far and the spec is :
Oracle 11.1.0.6
HP PA-RISC server
EVA Storage
my problem is
each of my sites has different subnet for public network so for VIP failover there is a problem.
how can solve this problem.
can we have two site with on subnet? how?
I have this problem eith Interconnect too.
thanks anyway

I just saw your post and I resolved this on mine for my wired connection. I'm willing to bet that the issue is the same for wireless. Here's what I found.
    Issue:
During the installation, iTunes installs some network components related to mobile device support over ethernet(Apple Mobile Device Ethernet Service - netaapl.inf). At the same time, according the logs, the install process removed OEM18.inf. This almost exactly coincided with the time that I saw the network connection die (preceded it by a few seconds).
Basically, iTunes appears to be removing a required network component.
    Resolution:
After installing iTunes and the network connection breaking, remove the network device from Device Manager and allow Windows to reinstall it automatically.
The following instructions are for Windows 7, but they are close enough to follow for other versions of Windows.
    1. Click the Start button (Jewel in Vista and Win7).
    2. Right-click Computer and click Manage in the menu that appears (type your password or click Yes if prompted).
    3. On the left side of hte Computer Management window, click Device Manager.
    4. Click the arrow (or plus sign) next to Network Adapters to expand that section.
    5. Right-click your network adapter and click Uninstall in the menu that appears.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Reboot.
Windows should automatically detect and reinstall your network device on boot.

  • Is this type of set-up possible - private and public network with Airport

We have an office network with Airport. We have internet with a cable modem with routers plugged to it. The network is not now shared with anyone outside the business.
But would it be possible to add a public component to our setup that would give others access to the internet but never, never, never allow them to enter/see/ mess with the private side?
    Tim

Sorry to intrude, I came across this thread while I was looking for some other information and thought that there needed to be a point of clearification to identify some major security vulnerabilities.
With the current config, Cable Modem->Wan port of Router A->Router B plugged into LAN port on Router A
    1. Traffic from Router A would see all traffic sent from router B out to the internet, if I was able to sniff the traffic on router A then I would see everything that router B was passing to the internet...not good idea if Router A is public, (traffic would not be encrypted since this is a hard line pass to the cable modem).
    2. Router A will always be able to see the interface of router B (have to have it this way to perform the passing of IP traffic from one router to the other.) This means that router B will be open for brute force login attempts and any other vulnerabilities that the router might carry, again since this is being accessed from a publicly accessible network it would be hard to stop from happening in todays world.
    3. Router B subnet - If you NAT all the IP's behind router A on it's on subnet (which would include Router B). Uunless router B truly has two interfaces (internal and external) you would not be able to use different subnets and expect to pass traffic all the way to the cable modem because it would not know how to get there.
Again, this post is not meant to cause annomosity, it is to help educate.
I personally think that the safer bet is to get a second hi-speed connection, physical seperation in this case is the best way to go, saves you the worry of getting attacked or snooped on, and keeps your private information safe from the public...unless that is something that you are willing to risk sharing.

  • Private and Public Networks with DHCP, DNS, AD-DS

Hello, I am a student working on creating a server lab at school and am curious if it is possible to set up a unique testing environment. I will describe what I am trying to achieve below.
I have roughly 15 servers inside of my school lab and want to learn some solid skills as I go out into the workforce. The server lab will utilize one server specifically as a AD-DS, DHCP, and DNS Server and another as a TFPT / Terminal Services Server. This
so that I can set up the rest of the servers as a PXE boot environment (This may not be practical in the real world, but want to get some experience with it.) In order to do this I am using a private network that I have created with the networking equipment
I have (Cisco 1800 Series Router, Cisco 2950 Series Switches) inside of the lab, but need to make sure that the servers in the lab can NOT talk to the rest of the world on the school network that will be plugged into the second NIC. This is so that I can download
windows updates from the school network and hopefully apply them through Windows PowerShell (Is this possible?) to the servers in the private lab network.
I am curious if it is possible to set up a AD-DS, DHCP, and DNS server so that it only communicates through one port and not talk to the rest of the world, as well as if it is possible to create a PowerShell script to check for Windows Updates on the school
network, download them, and then distribute them to the servers inside of the lab environment?
Please feel free to ask questions and any help or insight would be appreciated.

What you are attempting to do is quite common.  A simple implementation can be done with what can be called a 'jump server'.  That server is the only machine in your environment that has access to the internet.  You must log into it first
before you have access to your lab environment.  It's basically how I set up my lab.
The jump server can also host Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).  This is a no-cost capability from Microsoft that can automatically download patches from Microsoft.  I then use a group policy in my lab domain to set the update server of my
domain to point at the WSUS server.  If fact, this sort of configuration is quite common in corporate environments, too.  It ensures that corporate machines are not going out to the internet to download patches, allowing the corporate managers to
download and test the patches to see if they break anything before deploying to the rest of the corporate machines as a whole.  So the jump server has one IP address that is routable to the internet and a second network on your lab's domain network.
The jump server does NOT run any routing software, so no machine from the lab can access the external network.

  • Make Server capable of seeing both public and work networks

    Hi,
I would like to be able to see both the work and public networks from the 2008 R2 Standard server. I have 2 NICs and only using 1. IP is 10.95.60.10 GW 10.95.60.1 . I want to be able to see nodes on public with IPs 192.168.1.29 GW 192.168.1.1 Both have same
    DNS

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to configure one network connection as Work, and the other as Public on the Windows Server 2008 R2.
The network will be configured with domain profile if the device is connecting to a domain network and you can’t change the network location locally. If this is not the case, you will be prompt to select the network location when the first time the device
connected to the network, you may also change the network location later according to the steps below:
    1. Open network and sharing center.
    2. Click the network location type and select the type you want to change.
If there is misunderstanding about your question, please correct.
Besides, this may cause routing problem if you configured the 2 NICs with different default gateway, you may reference the link below for

  • Oracle 10g RAC - public network interface down

    Hi all,
I have a question about Oracle RAC and network interface.
We're using Oracle 10gR2 RAC with two nodes on Linux Red Hat.
Let's assume that the public network interface goes down.
I would like to know what happens with existing connections
on node with network interface with problems.
    Are connections frozen, actives?
Can the users continue to use theses existing connections using the another node of RAC?
I know that the listener goes down and any other connections is allowed.
    Thank you very much!!!!

You should spend some time in a test lab where you can test this stuff for yourself. Read the documentation and there are tons of sites out there that purport to have all of your RAC/TAF/FAN/FAF questions. - I would read and trust the documentation first.

  • RAC - pulling the public network connector

    Hallo,
would be really good to get an answer for this case:
What is the expected behaviour of the instance if i pull out the network connector of the public network.
In our case the instance of that node is reacting with an automatic shutdown abort.
Is that ok ? We want to have a running AS on top of the RAC so if there are network problems the whole AS would crash if the instance disappears in the back.
    Thx for clarification
    Jochen

The Oracle Clusterware requires that each node be connected to a private network by way of a private interconnect.
The private interconnect that Oracle Clusterware requires is a separate network that you configure between the cluster nodes. This interconnect, which is required by RAC, can be the same network that the clusterware uses, but the interconnect should not be accessible by nodes that are not part of the cluster.
So unless you do not use your public network as part of the private network (which is a contradiction) and both networks use the same protocols you will not have Oracle Clusterware use the "public/private" network link. It was just not registered with Oracle Clusterware during installation.
Correct me if I am wrong ...

  • I'm trying to log into a public network and while the fan blade shows I have a connection I can not get the user agreement to load in Safari. This was working until yesterday, what changed?

I've reset my network settings. I've cleared cache and cookies in the browser. Before yesterday the login screen would appear anytime I attempted to use an app or program that required internet access. Pretty much every program. Now I have a brick tablet at work. I've reset everything I can find. I'm at a dead end.
I've seen other ipads that had the auto login togle and auto join togle under network selection, my ipad does not have those options. Logging in at home is working fine on my private network. This public network is not being reset or forgotten when I choose "forget network" or Safari is blocking the login page and I don't know how to un block it.

Well, when I join a public wifi, a log in page displays a few seconds later, displaying the user agreement. But, earlier today, I was trying to connect my friend's 3GS to a public wifi, and it did not show up. So. I don't really know what happen. I think you should toggle the auto Join to on.

  • How do I know "Roaming Network" is working with Airport Express and Airport Extreme and should I use extended wireless network for third Express?

Attempting to eliminate a dead spot in Wifi coverage [and implement AirPlay] have one Airport Extreme 802.11n and two Airport Express 802.11n's.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4145
The Airport Extreme is of course connected to cable modem and Ethernet switch, and one Airport Express is connected to the Ethernet network. As per instructions for creating a "Roaming Network", Airport Express is set to same SSID, security type, and Password.
    Questions:
    1. How does the client device know which Airport to connect to? In other words, will it switch to the closer WiFi transmitter automatically? The WiFi reception problem is intermittent in the fringe areas so what I do not want it for it to stick with the more distant Airport Extreme in the basement when the Airport Express which is closer will work better.
    2. How can I tell which of the Airports the attached client device is using?
The third Airport Express will be in a third location - I was planning on using it also for expanding coverage but after reading the warnings about performance suffering when purely using WiFi for the expansion in this location ("Wireless Extended Network" without an ethernet connection) I have figured that the single wired Airport Express will be adequate and will use the third Express to do Airplay only.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259
Question: Can I use this second Airport Express to extend the wireless network via "Extended Wireless Network" while the other two are in "Roaming Netowrk" configuration? Without bogging down??
    Mitch

    1. How does the client device know which Airport to connect to?
The Mac computer will automatically connect to the wireless access point with the strongest signal...which is probably the closest AirPort. An iPhone or iPad may not do this and will tend to stay connected to one AirPort.
    2. How can I tell which of the Airports the attached client device is using?
On a Mac, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility. Click on one of AirPorts. In the area to the right, locate the AirPort ID and jot that down. Then do the same for your other AirPort.
Move your Mac near one of the AirPorts and log on to the wireless. Hold down the option key on the Mac while you click the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the screen. Look for the BSSID. That is the AirPort ID of the device to which you are connected.
If you are close to the "remote" AirPort, and you see the AIrPort ID of the "main" router when you are testing, then you know that the network is not configured correctly.
Can I use this second Airport Express to extend the wireless network via "Extended Wireless Network" while the other two are in "Roaming Netowrk" configuration? Without bogging down??
There will be a modest 10-15% bandwidth loss with the "extend" setup, assuming that the Express is located where it can receive a strong wireless signal from the AirPort to which it is associated. You can avoid the bandwidth loss if the Express is also connected via Ethernet as part of the roaming configuration.

  • Firefox does not automatically load nor find the login page for a public network (i.e. username and password)

To log in on a public network without a password-key (not secured), a user login is required.
After connecting to the network, the browser, upon opening it, normally automatically loads the login page, in order to enter a username and password and connect to the internet.
Firefox doesn't find the login page automatically, so I need to switch to google Chrome just to log in to the network.
Does this have anything to do with user settings in the options of firefox?

  • Mixing public and private networks on the same switch

    Hello Everyone,
I know this may get some security engineers in frenzy but wanted to know if there is a safe way to mix public and private networks on the same switch.
We have many remote offices that we want to add public wifi and a couple of other services that would be completely outside of our internal network.  Each office has a 3750 with plenty of open ports.  How can I safely create a vlan for public access on these switches which currently have our internal network on.  I have read that people are doing this to save on the cost of purchasing a dedicated switch.  Some people are using access lists and one person mentioned creating a private vlan for the public network.  I looked up private vlan and it seemed bit confusing.
Is this recommended?  If not what would be the safest way to do this?
    Thanks Everyone

How "safe" is relative.  If your running just one VLAN on a switch, that's would be the safest (basically the same as mixing traffic on the same wire - separation is done else where).
If you multiple VLANs on a switch, then you need to determine how likely someone might figure out a way to breach the VLAN barriers.  (This isn't so easy on newer switches.)  If the VLAN isolation is breeched, then you need to examine what does that imply from a security perspective (for example can someone now inject or receive other VLAN traffic).
For most purposes, I don't see mixing public and private VLANs, alone, on the same switch as much of a risk.  More of a concern is what can be reached on either VLAN and how well it's protected.

  • Best way to extend g and n networks with ethernet and AEBSn

Can anyone suggest the best way to extend both b/g and n wireless networks using a dual band AEBS, an AEBSn and AXs b/g?
I have two areas of the house served by cat5. Right now I have a wired AX set "Join wireless network" and an AEBS n wired and set to "Join wireless network". Wondering if that is the best way to do the b/g.
I have an extra AX. Wondering if I could do AEBS Main to cat5 to small switch in other part of house with cat5 to AX set to "join wireless network" to extend the b/g and cat5 to the AEBS set to "extend network" to extend the n component of the network in the same space?
    Thanks,

Yes "Solution 3:" is what you want to use.
Yes your MacBook will pick the "best" base station to connect to at any given time. Only Apple's engineers know the algorithm used to determine which offers the "best" connection.
