ORA-01733: virtual column not allowed hereThe error is correct as you have a transformation done on the Sal column which can't be updated. That's why the error is thrown to you.

If the view was created by using an expression, such as DECODE(deptno, 10, "SALES", ...), then rows cannot be inserted into or updated in the base table using the view.>

@Pavan,
That's different question altogether. I don't think OP question falls in that thread's context.

Thank you very much for the update to this old question
After reading the link I think I should ignore this error and accept it as ORA-01402
The information you asked me to check did not lead me an understanding of different error types.

  • Virtual Column not allowed here Error

    Hi All,
I am facing "Virtual Column not allowed here" Error when running a simple select statement. I have identified that if I am removing a primary key constraint and an index on top of month table which is used in the SQL solving this issue. But want to know the exact reason of this error. FYI I am having two indexes on Month_end_date_key (which is also a primary key) and Month_end_date. Could you please let me know the reason for this.
FYI I am not doing any insert, update deletion operations. I am using only the tables in the SQL not using any views.

Cause:     An attempt was made to use an INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE statement on an expression in a view.
Action:     INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE data in the base tables, instead of the view.

  • When Closing the window giving error " Virtual Column not allowed"

    Hi All,
In my main block, i have a button, on clicking which will open a new window(block) with a free text field to enter.
I have a Save button in a new window which will save entered text fiedl and refresh the main block to see the value entered in a new block.
But suppose, if entered something in text field and without saving if i close the window and try to exit from the form
It is asking me to save the form or not and if i press Yes
Then it gives me below error
ORA-01733: virtual column not allowed here
FRM-40508: ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record.
If i see from Display database error' It is trying to insert the record into the view On which my new block has based( i know it is not possible).
    Any suggestion on this please?
    Thanks,
    pavan

    Pavan,
How are you populating your block? It sounds like you are populating the block manually (eg; Looping through a cursor and assigning values to each row of your block). If this is what you are doing, then YES you will get these kinds of errors. Ideally, you should base your data block on your data (either directly on the base table or view of if you are using a query, then a FROM Clause based block).
I'm guessing here, so would you mind posting a description of your data block(s) is/are set up?

  • Fiscal Year Not allowed while creating the Process order (COR1)

    Hi Friends,
My Indian client is following the Fiscal year of 2011 for the period of April 2010 to March 2011). We have gone live one month before. But now the problem we are facing is while creating the process order (T.Code COR1) system gives the error message "Fiscal year 2010 is not allowed".
    The Diagnosis shows as below
Fiscal year 2010 is not allowed
    Message no. F5568
    Diagnosis
The fiscal year entered (2010) is different from the fiscal year derived from the posting date and fiscal year variant (2011).
    System Response
    Error.
    Procedure
    Correct the fiscal year entered.
I have Checked the Controlling area version. Fiscal Year 2011 starts from 01.04.2010. This issue is only at the time of Process oder creation and not in other module like FI, MM, SD, PS, QM and PM. I have checked with V3 Variant also and there is no problem with that.
Can any one help me where the setting is missing or what whould be the probable reason for this issue.
    Regards,
    Deva

    Hi Prakash,
Thank you for your reply. I have checked the MMPV and MMRV set up and that is fine with fiscal year 2011. We are also processed lot many Material receipts for the fiscal year 2011. I have checked with OB52 for finace it is opened for the entire year of 2011 from 2009 for all periods.
We are facing only when we try to create the process order. When we enter the starte date as 24.11.2010 the derived period shows as fiscal year 2011. But entered fiscal year shows as 2010. We are not entering any other dates in the process order.
Is there any other probablity the date is picking from any Production related set ups??
The costing version fiscal year 2011 starts from 01.04.2010. So no problem with Controlling area. I have Checked the Factory calendar. The calendar starts from 01.01.2010 to 31.12.2010 for the year 2010.
Is there any other possibility of the missing settings or problem in date control???
    Regards,
    Deva

  • Fiscal year 2010 Not allowed while creating Process order in COR1

    Dear Friends,
We have gone SAP live in the month of October. The fiscal yeat we are using is 2011 as the client is Indian client. I have made the fiscal year variant for 2011 (V3). The FI document posting with Fiscal year 2011. It is also creating the Controlling document and Profit center document without any problem.
We have also made the period open as 2011 in MMpv and MMRV. The goods receipts is working fine and the finance entry and material document gets generated for the fiscal year 2011.
Now we are creating the process order in COR1 and getting the error message Fiscal year 2010 not allowed as below.
Fiscal year 2010 is not allowed
    Message no. F5568
    Diagnosis
The fiscal year entered (2010) is different from the fiscal year derived from the posting date and fiscal year variant (2011).
    System Response
    Error.
    Procedure
    Correct the fiscal year entered.
In KP26 we have maintianed for activity price for 2010 &  2011 and the system is picking the data for the fiscal year 2010 data and not the FY 2011 data.
I have checked in OKEQ (Costing version '0') The valide start date for FY2011 is 01.04.2010.
Is there any other place to maintain the fiscal year in Controlling area or Prodduction Planning???
I last my patient last 5 days doing R&D. Can any one help me where the fiscal year is picking and why it is picking FY 2010??
    Regards,
    Devendran

    Hi Ajay,
Thank you for your comments. I have checked the Factory calendar and that is 2010 (January to December). We have tried to change to 2011 but the system automatically picking the date from January 1st 2011 to 31st December 2011. I am unable to create calendar year with date from 01.04.2010.
I have discussed with my PP consultant about this issue, he is telling the factory calendar nowhere related to Fiscal year. Do you have any idea how to change the factory calendar of 2011 from 01.04.2010 to 31.03.2011??  Is there any there reason why my system considering the Fiscal year 2010 instead of 2011???
Your inputs will defenitely help me to get an clue.

  • BOM editing should not be allowed while creating P.O./ Scheduling agreement

BOM editing should not be allowed while creating P.O. / Scheduling agreement

    Hi,
I think that when you create a subcontracting PO it READS the valid BOM, so there's no locking. From a business point of view you need to question such a requirement, since in SAP you can have many kinds and types of BOMs. Then what if one of the BOMs is open in change mode (edited) exactly when you try to create the order? It should not allow you to create the order? Why?

  • Error While Creating Materialized View

    Hello,
I am getting error ORA-22818: subquery expressions not allowed here while creating materialized view. I am using Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0. Below pasted is my SQL Script.
    Any help is highly appreciable.
    Thanks
    *********SQL************
select distinct(id),NAME,(select count(GRADE) from employees where
    nationality like '%US%'and id=a.organization_id and grade=a.grade

nationality not like '%US%' and organization_id=a.organization_id and grade=a.grade
    group by ORGANIZATION_ID,GRADE) NON_US,grade from employees a
    where grade is not null
    group by GRADE,ID,name
    order by to_number(grade) desc

    Hi,
This is a documented restriction on MVs. You cannot have a scalar express (i.e a select statement) in the select list.
You can get round this by joining your select count(grade).. expression in as an inline view in your FROM clause. Or you can create a normal view without the scalar expression, create your MV as a select from this view, then re-define your view to contain the query you want.
    Hope that helps,

  • People Picker column not displaying name in list view

    I have a strange thing going on in list views. If I create a default view with a people picker column, it does not show the name - it appears to be blank (like below);
    If I then alter the view and make the style "Shaded" the user name appears (like below);
It also seems to be an issue when looking at a Workflow process or survey results..  Can anybody explain to me why this is happening and how to resolve the issue?

    Hi,
As I understand, the issue occurs to All task view in task list, assigned to column not showing while it could be filtered.
I’d recommend you create a new view with needed column including assigned to column, and make it default.
Here is a similar thread, please check if it helps:

  • Database trigger - PL/SQL: ORA-00984: column not allowed here

I am trying to create a trigger that will update an employee audit table when a row is changed. Using a sequence number to assign a unique identifier to each row as it is created. Need to capture the user ID, date of the change, and the action (update), plus the before image of the row.

First, when you write an INSERT statement, it's always good to list the columns that you're inserting into. That makes the code easier to follow-- you don't have to separately pull up the table definition to know what order columns are inserted. And it makes the code more maintainable since the statement won't become invalid if you add a new column to the table in the future.
Second, CHANGE_DATE, CHANGE_USER, and ACTION are not (presumably) functions and they are not local variables so it doesn't make sense to use them in an INSERT statement. You would need to write code or leverage existing functions to populate those columns. I'm guessing, for example, that you want to use SYSDATE to populate the CHANGE_DATE and USER to populate the CHANGE_USER column. My guess is that ACTION should always be a 'U' for UPDATE.
Third, it appears that you left off the :old on the DEPTNO column.
Putting it all together, you'd have something like
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER trig_emp_audit
      BEFORE UPDATE ON emp
      FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
      INSERT INTO emp_audit(
          audit_uid,
          change_date,
          change_user,
          action,
          enpno,
          ename,
          job,
          mgr,
          hiredate,
          sal,
          comm,
          deptno )
        VALUES(
          emp_audit_seq.nextval,
          sysdate,
          user,
          'U',
         :old.empno,
         :old.ename,
         :old.job,
         :old.mgr,
         :old.hiredate,
         :old.sal,
         :old.comm,
         :old.deptno);
    END;
