Virtual keyboards and landscape view

Recently I had to reinstall the software on my Torch because something went wrong after I downlaoded an app and my phone kept continuously rebooting in a loop. Since reinstalling the software, though, I have noticed some things that are different and one is that the virtual keyboard never appears anymore. Not only that but the phone does not seem to be able to change to landscape view anymore, except when viewing a YouTube video. And lately, the YouTube videos stop part way through and never start back up again, as they do when just buffering temporarily.
Is there something missing from the software I downloaded? Is there a special version of the OS6 that is just for the Torch?

Section header with portrait and landscape view

My iBook project is being created so that it is available in both portrait and landscape view. This has been a tricky process since alot of content was distored when I created the layout using landscape and then attempted to adjust the portrait view after that. Currently, after many adjustments, I am attempting to remove the small "section number header" throughout the book at the very top of each chapter header in portrait mode. I was able to remove the the section number from the landscape mode, but can't seem to figure out how to do so with portrait mode (or if it is even possible?)
Help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Remember....layout in landscape - edit content in portrait.
Did you try to select the section number header in the style drawer and remove it from the master layout?

Problem "bug" iOS 8 iPad 2, virtual keyboard and stream hdmi cable (adapter)

Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support and I'm sorry this update isn't compatible with the extensions you're using.
The Kaspersky support forums mention that those extensions will be updated soon, so that they are compatible with FF25. In the meantime, we do not recommend that you downgrade your version of Firefox, but you can find instructions and download locations for previous versions here:

Keyboard and character viewer, can't find it.

HI, I have checked the box next to the show keyboard and character finder in menu bar but it isnt showing up. Is ther an apply button or something that I am missing? Help woud be appreciated

What I tried in terms entering the changes didn't seem to work, is there a formatted list and if so how do I get to it?
I tried- clicked on the Plus button ( bottom left side)
clicked on a bar in the replace column , once it was highlighted entered $ by shift 4
clicked on a bar in with column, once it was highlighted entered shift 3 (£)
I then got a pop up telling me the replace item must have two characters. Repeated the process but with a double$$
Both times I did as you suggested and it remained on the list but didn't work when I tried to use it when typing.
I'm missing something?

file from the design view.
Am I missing something in the site setup?

Unless you are running off a properly configured IIS server
it is often
better to use FILE includes rather than Virtuals. The issue
is that your
intranet has been hung as a virtual directory off the default
website found
at localhost.

Touch keyboard and landscape orientation rarely working on my 9800

Having an ongoing problem with my 9800: Over the past 6 months or so, my 1+ year old Torch has gradually become disoriented, er, it has lost the ability to detect it's physical orientation. This inability to detect the device's actual orientation happens in conjunction with losing the ability to use the touch screen keyboard. I have fat thumbs, so the slider keyboard is frustrating to use. I mentioned this was a gradual loss of function, meaning that it sometimes resolved itself, but I cannot force it to recover via keyboard reboot, battery & sim pull, making it stand in the corner, etc. Now, six months later, the problem seems to have pretty much burned itself in, so I resorted to a complete wipe & restore. That didn't work either. **bleep**.
I am beginning to think the forced portrait orientation is initiated by opening (or partially opening) the physical keypad. When that happens, it seems as though the device is not getting the indication that the physical keyboard has been closed. Sort of makes sense. Dirty contacts or micro switch?
But I am conflicted because some game apps require you to orient the device to landsacpe. When I use those apps, I will get a message telling me to reoritent the device to landscape - and doing so reorients the screen - but only while that app is in use. Unfortunately, when closing those apps, the verticial orientation problem remains and the touch keyboard is not available.
Can someone give me any suggestions to fix this? I am eligible for an upgrade, but I am holding out for the BB10 lanuch later this year. This has to be fixable!
I saw one other post from November, 2011 by another user having the same issue. There were to comiserating replies with the same problem; yet nobody in the community has responded to that post with a possible cause or working solution.

I have concluded that this is a design fault. It frives me nuts and the only solutions I have seen on the forums is upgrading or re-installing the OS or doing a hard boot. The former does not work and the latter occasionally works. Of course, re-booting every time you slide the keyboard open is not a real solution. Very frustrating.

N97 and Opera Mobile - virtual keyboard

Is there any way to swtich the virtual keyboard off on Opera Mobile? I'd like to be able to type direct into the webpage, like you can on the built-in browser. Also, some symbols aren't available on the virtual keyboard (and the symbol key on the hard keyboard is deactivated).

Hi, I've used Opera mini for about 18 months, find it great. To remove virtual keyboard go to settings (on Opera), Advanced, Inline-Editing,set to off.. You won't be able to edit on web page have to use notepad that appears then ok to enter on page, but both QWERTY and phone virtual pad will work. Also have tried Opera Mobile 10, but find it caused freezing/locking and didn't seem any better or faster than Opera mini 5 Beta, which for the last 4 months has performed faultlessly on my N97, and which I continue to use. Hope this helps. Also try Snaptu, very useful and time saving, but need to go into Application settings, Installed apps, options settings, turn off onscreen keypad.

While this could potentially be a hardwar issue:
Try a rest: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the iPad shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the iPad back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
If the reset doesn't work, you may need to consider restoring the iPad to factory settings

Not able to use online banking virtual keyboard with ios 4.3 neither 4.3.2. Used to use with ios 4.2

I used to transfer money via ebanking with my ipad 1 ios 4.2. But since i updated to ios 4.3, i'm not able to do so. Then i bought an ipad 2 and still not able. I updated ios to 4.3.2 yesterday and the problem continue. I can open the bank page without any problem. But when i try to transfer money, it ask for a confirmation key and pops-up an virtual keyboard. Well with ios 4.2 i was able go see the virtual keyboard and enter the key, but with ios 4.3 and 4.3.2, not able to see the keyboard. Safari is set to allow popup windows, but still not able to do so. I installed another webrowser, which allow me to see the virtual keyboard, but when i type the key it doesn't do nothing. Does anyone have an idea how can i solvr this issue? Thanks

My BlackBerry 9810 suddenly stopped showing in landscape view & will not show the virtual keyboard. I have checked setting, removed battery & deleted unused apps to give more system space - to no avail. Suggestions?

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

Landscape view/keyboard for Mail and SMS...

Does anybody know if there is anything in the works to give us larger handed iPhone 3G users the ability to turn the phone sideways for a landscape view and slightly larger keyboard when typing in SMS or Mail like we have in landscape view when typing in Safari?

Thanks for the links. This was the main (read: only) reason for me not getting the iPhone.
I love just about everything about it and I have everything mac at home and a mobileme account so the iPhone would complement my needs very well, or so I thought till I used a friend's iPhone for a couple of days.
Typing emails and using SMS with the keyboard in portrait mode was painful. My fingers aren't that large but found myself spending more time correcting than actually typing. In safari I loved the landscape orientation for typing. I think this is a major oversight by apple.
I waited till this past week to see if apple releases an update to address this (what with all the feedback people are leaving on boards and forums about this problem), but nothing showed up so I bit the bullet and got myself a Blackberry Bold.
This was a deal breaker for me. Maybe when they address it I might try out an iPhone in the future.

My client is using an external blue tooth ipad metal cover type keyboard and does not wish to have the radial keyboard / mouse visable or floating on desktop when connecting to vm with iPad using vmware view client v5.1.
i was unable to locate any settings or related toggle key/function combo keystrokes under iPad settings under vmware view client, to affect viewability of the radial keyboard/mouse. And can you kill it from service/process on vm instead of ipad? then dont allow service to restart at startup? What is the name of services that enable the radial virtual keyboard mouse - function to work?

I'm having a very similar issue. Sometimes, when I boot and type in startx (I'm not even a GNOME user--I use dwm and no graphical login manager), I just get a black screen. No mouse cursor, so I think X doesn't even load. It only started with the xserver 1.6 update and the update to that hasn't changed anything. What I've been doing is just rebooting until it loads normally (takes one to three times). Is anyone else having this problem?

Try switching it back from landscape to vertical. Or, go to settings and see if you have any special setting turned on that enable only landscape view. Also, try hooking it up to your computer and charging it to see what happens.
