Virtual mappings in tomcat

Hi All,
I need to know how can I create virtual mapping in Tomcat. I know we can create these in JRUN by adding the following lines in web.xml file for the application:
<virtual-mapping>
<resource-path>/TestMap</resource-path>
<system-path>/etc/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.12/webapps/etc/etc</system-path>
</virtual-mapping>
Operating system: Linux
Tomcat: 4.1.12
Web Server: Apache
I tried to add the above mentioned code in web.xml file for the application but it doesn't seem to be working in Tomcat. Can some one please help me?
Thanks
Viv

In the server.xml file d something like:
<Context path="/TestMap"
          docBase=">/etc/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.12/webapps/etc/etc"
          debug="0"
          privileged="true"/>Under the the docBase you would put your webapp directories such as WEB-INF etc.

  • How to create a new virtual host under tomcat 4.1.x?

    hi all
    i need some help creating a new virtual host under tomcat 4.1.18!
    that's what i do:
    i'm using the web configuration, reacheable by typing "http://localhost:8080" and then clickign administration
    i create a new host
    name: www.class-site.it
    application base: webapps\class-site
    then i create the context:
    document base: webapps\class-site
    path: /
    and nothing works!!!
    anyone could help me?
    if needed i can also post the server.xml file
    thanx in advance for your help
    sandro

    It should look like this
    <Host name="myvhost.com" debug="0" appbase="/my/path/to/webapps" unpackWars="true">
    <Context path ="" docBase="ROOT" debug="0"/>
    </Host>
    This should be inside the <Engine> tags. You should be able to access a page by going to
    http://myvhost.com:8080/index.jsp
    Obviously you need index.jsp in /my/path/to/webapps/ROOT/index.jsp
    Hope that helps

  • Remote Virtual Directory with Tomcat

    Does anybody knows if is it possible to set a virtual directory in Tomcat 4.1 or 6.0 in a remote PC ?
    This is the example:
    Mi PC running Tomcat. Mi PC IP: 172.16.8.212.
    There is another PC in the company with another Tomcat running. Let's say in IP 172.16.8.213.
    The public IP is asociated with my PC, and I need that when somebody tries to find certain web application (located in the Tomcat in 172.16.8.213 ) my Tomcat execute the remote application as if it is local.
    Somebody could tell me: "Ok, so why don't you bring the remote application to your local Tomcat, and end with the complications". For some reasons (one of them is security), that's not a choice.
    Thank you very much for any help, and sorry if for my ignorance somebody gets angry.

    A few methods that come to mind off hand would be:
    1) Make an app on your server act as a proxy to the other app. That is, make a Servlet mapped to all URLs in the context. The servlet simply makes a corresponding request to the other server passing all pertinent information from the originating client. Your servlet then reads the response and pipes it directly to the response object
    2) Try setting up a <context> element with the docBase attribute set to the other server's docBase. The other computer would have to give your server read/write access to the directory of interest. Since your server would be actually hosting the application you would have to check on environment and resources to make sure any required settings are duplicated properly.
    3) Have the other application hosted on a different port, and your firewall map that port to their server and your port to your server.

  • Web.show_document virtual directory

    Hi,
    I want to show a document (pdf) that is on the application server.
    I know I can use web.show_document but the issue is where do I define virtual directory in forms 11.1.2.
    I have weblogic installed, is there any where on weblogic where I can open a file in gui and define it?
    Secondly what should I put into the file to define my virtual directory.
    I looked up on support.oracle.com and they do have some examples but it is for 10g forms and the file they want me to open is orion-web.xml does not exist in 11.1.2.
    So how can I do this in 11.1.2 forms.
    Thanks
    Munish

    Munish,
    You can define virtual directories in the httpd.conf which is found in the Oracle Http Server (OHS). It is highly recommended that you use the Enterprise Manager (EM) to make this change, but you can edit the file manually if you want.
    Towards the bottom of the file, you will find the *<IfModule mod_alias.c>* tag. This is the section where you would add directory alias's. The syntax for an alias is basically: "Alias </directory alias/> </directory to alias/>"
    For example, If I wanted to add an alias for a reports directory that exists outside of the WLS/FMw home I would add:
    Alias /my_reports/ "/usr/app/my_program/reports_dir/"This defines the basic alias, now you need to set the attributes of the alias. In this same tag section ( *<IfModule mod_alias.c>* ) as you scroll down, you will see directory tags. For example: <Directory "${ORACLE_INSTANCE}/config/${COMPONENT_TYPE}/${COMPONENT_NAME}/icons">
    In this section, you will need to add a new <Directory> entry for the alias you just created. Using the "MY_REPORTS" alias above, I would add:
            <Directory "/usr/app/my_program/reports_dir">
                    Options MultiViews
                    AllowOverride None
                    Order allow,deny
                    Allow from all
            </Directory>Notice, that I am specifying the actual directory path not the Alias directory path. For more detailed information, take a look at My Oracle Support (MOS) document *How to Create Virtual Mappings in Forms 11.1.x [ID 1063043.1].* You do need a MOS account to access this document.
    I forgot to mention that after you make these changes you will need to restart the OHS service.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

    Thanks a lot.
    HASPJava.dll is used by verification  License and is invoked less and can't use a lot of native memory.
    Our business is communicating between java and COM component. In order to implement it, we used JavaCom to generate java class for COM component.
    Memory of COM component is little, but Native Memory is high.
    Who used JavaCom and did you meet this problem?
    Please give me some suggestions. Thanks a lot.

  • Tomcat running high utilization on OES11 SP2

    I have Groupwise 2014 with webaccess and calendar publishing host installed on the same OES 11 SP2 in virtual environment. Tomcat is slowly eating up available CPUs until the system becomes unstable. Rcnovell-tomcat6 restart will temporarily clear the problem. The problem is described in TID 7010072 however, the document specifically says that the fix is not for OES11. Does anyone know how to address this on OES11?

    Firstly I'm not aware of an equivalent TID specific to OES11 so I'll ask
    my Novell contacts.
    OES11 uses novell-tomcat6 rather than tomcat6 as used with SLES11 with
    configuration file at /etc/opt/novell/tomcat6/conf/novell-tomcat6.conf
    so in the meantime perhaps make the same change as noted in TID 7010072
    for SLES11 to the OES11 file.
    Note there is more than one line (re)defining CATALINA_OPTS so I'd be
    tempted to add the following line below the last CATALINA_OPTS line:
    CATALINA_OPTS="$CATALINA_OPTS -Xthr:minimizeUserCPU -Xms800m -Xmx900m"
    Restart the OES11 tomcat process via "rcnovell-tomcat6 restart".
    HTH.

    We are experiencing the same issue on our OES GroupWise 2014 server. Restarting novell-tomcat6 fixes temporarily, but always returns. Anyone find anything further with this? Just downloaded (1/12/15) and installed latest available hotpatches for GW2014 and SLES/OES, but did not resolve issue.

  • Configure virtual path mapping for forms 11.1.2

    Hi
    How to configure virtual path mapping for "Oracle Fusion Middleware Forms and reports 11gR2 (11.1.2.0.0)" on my client?
    Configuration type = development.
    In forms 10g I configure it in "orion-web.xml".
    C:\oracle\ids\j2ee\DevSuite\application-deployments\forms\formsweb\orion-web.xml
    Regards
    Tobias

    If you use the development mode install in 11.1.2 I think you cannot use the "forms.conf" approach because you don't have an OHS installed.
    We've used the approach described in the following metalink document (solution no. 1) which works with deployment as well as development installations. Tested on 11.1.1.4 and 11.1.2.
