Virtual PC v7.0.2 and macbook pro with intel cpu

Is Microsoft Virtual PC v7.0.2 compatibble with intel cpu's?
thanks

Virtual PC for Mac will only work for the older PowerPC Macs.
For the newer Intel Macs look at either Boot Camp from Apple <http://www.apple.com/bootcamp> or Parallels <http://www.parallels.com>. The performance of Windows with either of these solutions far outweighs Virtual PC.
Hope this helps! bill

  • Can I have an iPhone, ipad and MacBook Pro with the same apple id

Can I have an iPhone, ipad and MacBook Pro with the same apple id. When I use I tunes it get confusing and I have a paid app that needs the same id

When syncing the iPhone and iPad with iTunes on your computer that is logged in with the Apple ID you plan on using on all three, the Apple ID should be transferred to the iPhone and iPad for the iTunes & App Stores on each device. If not, you'll need to sign out of the existing Apple ID on the iPhone and iPad followed by signing in with the Apple ID you want to use on both.
Keep in mind that all 3rd party apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account or Apple ID that was used to download the apps. With an app installed on your iPad and iPhone that was downloaded with a different Apple ID from the one you will be using now, you will need to use that Apple ID and password to install app updates for those apps. Not possible to transfer apps purchased with one Apple ID to another or to merge Apple IDs.

  • I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Want to upgrade to Lion to take advantage of icloud. Is there anything I can do without getting a new MacPro?

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?

I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly.  There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS.  There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement.  If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism:  Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality.  Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.
    Ciao.

  • Flash SDK and MacBook Pro with Retina display major issues

    Hello,
Apple has recently released Macbook Pro's with Retina displays.
I have tested my Flash application on the new laptop, and this is what I observe:
My Flex SDK Flash application looks blurry and strange when I try to check it out from any Macbook Pro with Retina display, while looking sharp and OK from all other machines.
On this screenshot you can sort of see the issue:

(Expand the image to the actual size, and compare the Flex SDK components with browser labels. Browser labels look crisp, Flex SDK components look a little bit blurry.)
    Please fix this issue.

Sure. LR 4.3 even specifically adds Retina support...

  • MacBook and MacBook Pro with 10.6:  Wireless Airport Issues with Cisco

Long Story but please bear with me:
Loaded SL on my daughters MacBook and my MacBook Pro. Internet worked flawlessly at our house (WEP encrypted) and on other public wifi. When my daughter went back to her sorority house at college 24 hours later, she could not access the internet using the sorority house network (Cisco Aironet 1800 router and Cisco Airo Access Points).
Her Airport on the MacBook appeared connected at full strength yet no internet. Two calls to Apple support (they were very nice) did not help. All the following were tried:
    1. Reset PRAM
    2. Deleted Airport and Safari plists
    3. Edited locations
    4. Removed Battery
    5. Others I cannot now remember
Still no net. However, she could 'pirate' and hop on line with other identified public wifi adjacent to the sorority house. I drove to the sorority house today and tried to get on the network wirelessly using my MacBook Pro with SL. Same identical results to hers. Another MacBook without SL works great and gets right on the network.
Is this some SL influenced issue with the Airport card and the Cisco system? Weird that both of our laptops work great with several other wifi networks but not the one at the sorority house.
Could much of what we all our seeing with the internet access problem lie not with issues within our software or computers but with the routers and access points not being compatible? I have very little understanding of this stuff (as you all can probably tell) but the Apple Support people acted like it was a old firmware issue with Cisco and not with SL. Not actually what I wanted to hear.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

Your description there, particularly the last part, sounds like my problem. At home, we connect using Airport and ADSL which was OK, once SL had sorted out passwords.
At my office, where there are two wifi systems, I could not get on either, although did have IP numbers on both. The link to the outside world is via a proxy which uses a PAC file. Network Diagnostics reported each time (whatever I did) that the link to the server was OK, but the Internet was not.
I created a new Location with identical settings (typing them in and not copying) and the only visible difference is that the new location has no DNS numbers -- I had not noticed that before. The moment I pressed, Apply, the computer was online.
I was guessing that there was a conflict in a .plist file somewhere; but now I wonder if DNS might have been the reason (the DNS number usually used is the one from the router itself).

  • Files disappearing iMac and MacBook Pro with iCloud

Just converted to Apple one month ago buying iMac and MacBook Pro.
iMac at office, MacBook at home.
My documents are mostly texts with Microsoft Word and numbers with Microsoft Excel.
I am using the new beta preview Word and Excel.
I copied everything (15 Go) to iCloud.
Not only the files don't synchronize between computers, they disappear.

You'll have to give yourself permission to the files. Do a +Get Info+ via the Finder, click the padlock at the lower right, and enter your Admin password.
Then click the plus sign at the bottom, and select your user account. That will give you Read rights. Click the arrows in front of +Read Only+ and select +Read & Write.+
If they're all in a folder, do this on the folder, then click the "gear" icon and select +Apply to enclosed items.+ That may take a while if there are a lot of files.

  • Macbook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo says it has a 32 bit processor

I have a Macbook Pro with a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Model Identifier MacBookPro5,4 with a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and it seems to me its a 32 bit processor when I read all Core 2 Duos are 64. I just want to make sure I'm reading this right.  Below are the specs.

Agreed.   Core2Duo processors through early 2007 were a mix of 32/64 bit, which is why they couldn't always be addressed beyond 3GB of RAM.
After then they were all 64 bit.   The graphics never increased above 32 bit, as that's all that is needed for millions of colors.  Optimizations for shade and three dimensional graphics came not from the bit of the card, but from the capacity of the graphics chip/card, measured in MB and GB.   Bit just describes the path width of the data stream.    The MB and GB of the chip/card describes the storage capacity itself.

  • MacBook and MAcBook Pro with ProTools

I have both a MAcBook and and a MAcBook Pro and ProTools runs fine on the Pro, however on the MAcBook ( 2 gig dual with 1 gig ram) the USB bus does not seem to have the power to drive the PRoTools MBOX 2 interface. ANy info on that? I'm surprised that it wouldn't be able to power it. I tried hooking up a pwered USB Hub, but that didn't do it either.
    Thanks,
    Jon Pousette-Dart

Check out the compatibility docs on the Digi website. The Macbook Pro is only certified with the USB ports on the left side of the machine. The Macbook is only certified with the USB port closest to the battery.
On the Macbook this does make a huge difference. Both power the Mbox (I have an original, not a 2), but I get tons of errors if I use the wrong USB port.

    Please help.

Your macbook pro has a 32 bit processor and not a 64 bit processor?
If so, i believe photoshop cs5 is the newest photoshop version that will work on your Macbook Pro.
    System requirements | Photoshop
You can get a 30 day trial trial version of photoshop cs5 from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html
Also, photoshop cs through cs4 should work as well, but cs3, cs4 and cs5 will run better since cs and cs2 require Rosetta and can be kinda slow at times.

  • Motion 4 and MacBook Pro with integrated nVidia 9400M Grapichs?

Hi. I wonder if somebody has experience using Motion 4 (and/or other motion graphics software)with a MacBook Pro 13" or 15" with integrated nVidia 9400M Graphics.
So far I know those laptops are very good for video editing and Photoshop, but I don't still know about people that animate with them.
    Thanks for your answers!

    Heya Mark,
Thank you for responding. The information provided leaves a lot to consider. Personally I would consider frequent solo layers or lack of expectance for realtime performance for anything moderately complex in HD comparative to simple, minimal Motion projects as originally stated. But everyone has their own opinion I suppose...
Checked out the first few seconds of your linked reel - pretty cool. Like most reviewing reels I only looked at the first 15 seconds since I consider that the just of the reel. Then I went back and re-watched and I was especially interested in the West Marine flag. Nice fluttering of the flag - produced using only Motion? So you produced that solely on the MBP described in your post? What was the FPS on the project file? Have a project file with included media to download for testing?
    Best regards,
    OP,
With my profession I use many different systems/configurations on a daily basis. So yes; I have tested the performance on comparative configurations. Cinema 4D does not = Motion and "pretty good" is an opinionated statement. Much like "acceptable" or any other opinion you will receive from your inquiry that begs the opinions from others that may omit specific hardware and/or project configurations comparative to your consideration. Maybe you should try going to a Apple store and testing a project yourself on the machine you're considering... Just a thought.
Yeah your MBP will work - it's just that there's better machines out there can produce better results. If your consideration is the best that you can get for your budget then you'll get the best performance that you can get. I described it as "acceptable". If it's a black/white, yes/no question of whether your MBP consideration will work with Motion then the answer is yes. Otherwise you're asking for an opinion that may contain uncertainty. That's the deal. Best of luck on your hardware choice. I hope it works out for you! The lack of responses tells a tale for me. If this thread was flooded with responses form others saying "yeah the 13" MBP with integrated gfx card works GREAT with Motion" then I might consider the hardware. But two responses saying "acceptable" and "surprising amount" tells me that there's not much to hope for. If you're surprised by the results that your hardware performs at then you should not expect much from the get-go. I expect high performance from Mac Pro - I'm not surprised by its performance.

  • Pairing iphone 6 and macbook pro with bluetooth

I have an iPhone 6 and a new MacBook Pro Retina and cannot pair my device with BlueTooth. I do have handoff working so I know they are communicating.
Why can't I use blueTooth to move files from one device to another?

Use airdrop to transfer files. Bluetooth is only for tethering your phone.
    Hope this helps.

  • Projector and MacBook Pro with Mavericks 10.9.1

My MacBook Pro (13 inches retina display flash memory drive) connects to Sharp Notevision projector but the image projected is a ghastly imitattion of my laptop wallpaper.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Running Logic Studio on Mac pro G5 AND MacBook Pro with dongle

Hi..I have been running the latest version of Logic on my Mac G5 for many years now but  also want to run it on my MacBook Pro. I have installed Logic studio from the original disks but the program will not load with or without my emagic dongle. I thought the whole point of the dongle is that you can take your work to different studios as the sole user of the program. What is wrong here?
    Thanks in advance.

I've just noted that Waveburner will work!

  • Problem installating Snow Leopard on old Macbook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo. After creating partition on internal hard disk (Extended Journaled), installation starts but stops at half of the progress bar. Screen asking Restart appears.

    Hello:
I have tried installing Snow Leopard via the installation disc on a Macbook Pro (2007) with an Intel Core 2 Duo, but I the installation has failed more than 5 times.
I have first formatted and partitioned the internal hard disk with Mac Os Extended Journal format.
Once the installation starts, it starts without a problem unti lthe progress bar gest until half completed then a screen asking for a Computer Restart shows up.
It asks to press the power button for some time until it the computer shuts down and then, press again to turn it on.
Once turned on, the installation disc gets readed, the installation screen appears again and asks again to start the whole installation process form the beginning.

Then you have a Hardware Problem.
Your system is Crashing part way through the install and Re-Booting because of the crash.
Could be the drive itself or it could be some other hardware part in your system. Like the RAM.
To check if it is the internal drive connect an External drive to the system by USB and do the install on that external. If the install completes then it more then likely the drive is bad. If it crashes again then it is more then likely some other piece of hardware in your system.

  • Using Modem MA034Z with MacBook Pro with Intel Processor

I have just bought the MacBook Pro to replace my old PowerBook G4 but find I no longer have an internal modem (Thanks Apple!! - we dont all send all our time in major metropolises)
I have read a couple of reviews stating the MA034Z apple modem does not work with the Intel processor in the MacBook Pro. Any substantiation?
Can anyone guide me to an external modem that works. I just need simple dial up - no faxing

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I have the Apple USB Model MA034 external modem which I got when I bought my MBP in September 2007. I have used it for dial up internet ever since, and have had absolutely no issues with it. I use it for dial up both at home and when I travel. It works perfectly.
I find it hard to imagine that Apple would provide a modem that would not work with the MBP. It may be worth reviewing the reviews, and possibly posting a link so that their assertions about the modem can be evaluated.
    Good luck!
