Virtual XP on a Win 7 Pro no longer will work

I have been running a virtual XP machine on my Windows 7 Pro PC for some time with no problem. Now the virtual XP won't run properly. It sometimes says it is running but a small window opens where what looked like some sort of script file used
to run to log me onto the virtual machine. Now the cursor just sits there and nothing happens in this little window. I am wondering if this situation is a result of me running the latest version of CCleaner on my XP virtual machine since when I
did a registry check, one file was deleted, the name of which I can't recall. I did ask CCleaner to save a backup file before doing this deletion but if I can't get onto the XP machine, I can't locate this back up file. From what others have posted,
the latest version of CCleaner does seem to cause registry problems. How can I restore my XP functionality which I really need to run some older XP programs.

Meanwhile, you can also check if you have a file called Windows XP Mode.vsv whcih is located at C:\Users\[your user here]\AppData\local\microsoft\Windows Virtual PC, delete the file, make sure to enable show hidden files under "Folder Options",
then restart your XP mode.

Audio drivers for Compaq C770LA for Win XP Pro / integrated mic not working

Hello. I have downgraded a Compaq C770LA to Win XP Pro SP3. Almost everything seem works perfect, but I have tried several audio drivers and still can´t get to control or use the integrated mic which this notebook has. I can hear audio and even record, etc, but there is no way to use or get to the integrated mic and some of the volumen controls I was used to (as "Record whats been listened") are lost. Does anybody knows wheter I have to change the driver or if it´s going to be any difference if I install for example the smartaudio add-on? I tried HP but they replied they don´t provide drivers for notebook for Operating Systems other than the one they gave the notebook with.

Outlook 2007 on Win 7 Pro - Outlook has stopped working

I've installed Office 2007 with all the patches including SP3 on a new laptop with all Win 7 patches
I've had repeated problems with the Outlook has stopped working problem. At numerous attempts and roll backs I've managed to get a version which works (I think) by not inputting an email account. However when I set up the profile (via Outlook)
I get the message.
Any suggestions please?

Might be, there is some issue which creating such kind of bugs and Outlook has been stopped. First open (run) MS-Outlook in Safe mode. To run Outlook in safe mode, follow these instructions:
1.) Open Run option by clicking on
the window button on the desktop.
2.) Enter or type the “Outlook.exe” in
the search box. Disable the all plugin which can create disturbance in Outlook.

K9N6PGM2-V, Win XP Pro/SP2, USB only works at USB-1 speed

Apologies is this is on an FAQ somewhere -- I did look, but didn't see it. Anyway, the USB ports work fine at USB-1 speed, but not at USB 2.0 speed. In fact, MS XP reports that there are no USB 2.0 devices available. Kinda frustrating, since the MSI manual specifically mentions USB 2.0 pin headers for this motherboard.
The PC (see signature) is built from scratch. At this point, the only software that is on it is XP Pro, SP2, and downloaded MSI drivers, and the only hardware added is the Intel Ethernet card. I installed the full package of drivers from this web page:

Specifically, I downloaded the full set ("NVIDIA_MCP61_SYSTEM_MB.zip") and installed everything except "forceware network access manager.".
One other note -- When I installed the motherboard, I connected the front panel USB connectors to the motherboard's JUSB1 connector (should I have hooked it to JUSB2?) ... however, the same behavior (USB1 speed only) happens with the built-in connectors (next to keyboard/mouse input, etc.)

Win xp Pro and card will not w

I had a sound blaster li've with win 2k and it worked fine. The comp is a AMD 64 bit 3200+ with msi K8n Neo board, gig of ram, etc I recently upgraded to win xp and the card does not work. I bought a newer card, audigy, in hopes that it might be newer and compatible with XP. Guess what...not a chance. I have been on phone 3 times with Creative Labs and got a quick fix each time after a 30 minute hold and none have worked. I have thus far:?-installed-call?told turn off all virus software-reinstalled with virus software all disabled-call?2 told to do clean install-done clean install-call?3 told to download windows media-downloaded windows media SDK 9.5-reinstalled clean again-still not working?when i run diagnostic it tells me that the card passes but midi driver, wave driver, etc all fail. I have seen this as a constant problem, but have not seen a real solution. Anyone have any ideas?

Expand what you mean by 'does not work'
Does it show in device manager?
Have you got the latest drivers installed via the creative website?
Do you get ANY sound be it via mp3 or cd or a movie?
Right click on the my computer icon
select manage
expand the system tools - event viewer - and look in application and system tabs for any sound related errors.
After you did a clean install of xp did xp pick the soundcard up in device manager or did it say unknown device? Did you install the drivers from a supplied cd or via creative website?

Palm desktop installation on Win 7--?serial port will work

Still syncing on my old laptop. Tried to use the palm desktop CD to install
ver 4.1 for my Kyocera 7135 on on win 7 64 bit machine. It wouldn't run the installation program. I had a virtual PC installed anyway and got the desk top installed on that machine.
I had to enable the USB port for it to sync and the program ran---but no data exported to the PC!!???
Have no clue what is wrong. I read that a few people have had the sync work with a serial port connection.
I have an express port on the new laptop and wonder if the virtual machine will use that OK and if that will fix
the lack of data transfer. Perhaps through in the towel and use the old laptop to sync but that will only work for awhile.

Just for the heck of it, I did a factory reset on the iPad again, and gave it another shot on the Win 7 64 machine at home. I uninstalled iTunes, restarted the computer, installed iTunes 9.1.1 64 bit for Windows, and achieved the exact same results: impossible to get iTunes to sync Google Contacts to the iPad. It goes through the motions, but never delivers any contacts to the iPad.

Macbook Pro...will work for a few minutes, then power goes out all together

Hey guys, tried finding an answer to this somewhere else on the forum, but came up empty. If this has been answered elsewhere, feel free to direct me there.
I have an older macbook pro (2011) that's in rough shape, but worked well up until recently. The symptoms I'm experiencing:
-The computer will charge (all lights are showing green on the charger and the computer)
-When I try to turn it on, sometimes it will turn on fine. Other times it will light up, then shut down immediatly
-If I remove the power cord and insert it again, sometimes it will boot up
-When I can get it to boot up. It will run fine for about 1-2 minutes, open all the programs, then shut down/black out all together (as if the battery was removed)
I'm assuming this is a hardware issue, or a cord issue, but not sure where I should be targeting my efforts. Any ideas? Thanks !

Win 7 pro 64 bit does not work nice with tv tuners

my win 7 pro 64 bit will not work with three recommened tv tuners, though not specific to 64 bit . I know one works great withmy old 32 bit xp system. all three different recommended tuners crashed my system three times amd informed me the flash player that comes in the software is not compatable with my system. also flash player stand along in my system will not work right all the time. worked so well in my old system? any thoughts on this dilemma. really do not want to return my new diamond tv wonder hd 750 card. otherwise this system blazes very appy with it, thanks.

ADOBE ACROBAT 8 Pro Upgrdade / WIN 7 Pro INSTALLING

I'm replacing my computer, moving from Windows XP pro to Windows 7 pro. To install Acrobat 8 Pro (this this an upgrade license) I should install step by step the following software: Adobe Acrobat 6 Std > Adobe 7 Pro > Adobe 8 Pro. This will work with Win 7 Pro ?

Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro is not compatible with Windows 7. I have seen cases where the installation goes fine. And with some workarounds you can get Adobe PDF printer installed as well. But Adobe still not recommend using Acrobat 8 on Windows 7. The reason why Acrobat 8 is not compatible is that the code of Acrobat 8 has not been tested on Windows 7 and it's not fully optimized for Windows 7.

Hardware buffering not working on Win XP Pro

Card: Audigy 2 Platinum with latest drivers (02.09.006)
Latest DirectX 9.0c (directx_dec2006_redist.exe)
DxDiag DirectSound test passes ok, except that at the end gives:
"Your card does not support hardware buffering. Sounds will only play back from software buffers."
Tested on Win XP Pro SP2, hardware buffering worked ok.

Just found that the problem is probably something with RAM configuration (motherboard problem).
I have 4GB RAM, with Memory Hole disabled in bios it works ok, but then only shows ~2.2GB. I only get 2GB in Win XP Pro SP2 with Memory Hole enabled (x64 is ok, 4GB). I think this option is not working properly.

Pro Tools 10 not working with 10.7.5 HELP!

My reading suggests that Pro Tools 10 will work with 10.7.4 . My mid 2012 macbook pro came with 10.7.5 and it looks like trying to roll back to 10.7.4 will crate other issues with Safari, iphoto, etc. I tried to install the late 2012 10.7.5 update which fixes some programs not launching, but I get an error mesage saying that my harddrive does not meet the requirements. Huh? It's a 750 g standard isue partitioned to use boot camp as well.
I'm desperate. I need my recording studio to work!! HELP!

That is because your Mac came with a special build of Lion made just for the newest models, it contains the correct driver set for the newer hardware in the new models. You may have to do a complete reinstall over the top of your current install from the Online Internet Recovery system, IE Not the Recovery HD partition on the internal drive, to get the correct 10.7.5 build for your model.
As to Pro Tools 10 working on Lion 10.7.5 you would need to contact Pro Tools and ask them.

QuickTIme Pro Windows Key Not Working in OSX

Is this intentional and is there a way to get a key for both if you purchased or do you have to purchase twice?

Sorry the Pro keys are not cross-platform. meaning you have to buy the Pro key for different OSs.
Except in OSX, the OSX Pro key in will work in either Panther, Tiger or Leopard. And the same with Windows different OSs.
A Window's key won't work in OSX and OSX won't work in Windows.

I have problem with installing win xp mode on my system, setup xp mode and virtual pc no problem. check with hardware support it's done with messege "This computer is configured with hardware-assisted virtualization". my BIOS is newest version 60KT34AUS with Intel VT are enable. when i run xp mode on start menu, the program did not respon and no messege, anyone have solution?

win xp mode will begin to setup.

Hi, I've rebooted into Repair mode (Console), (because repair said windows is installed on E:) run dism.exe /image:E:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
This gave a message about small scratch space but did say something out a fix. Upon reboot into safemode with console I received the same message
"C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
I then rebooted and tried SCF again, no luck... Same message, same updates still sitting there.

Personas suddenly not working Firefox 30, 31, 32 on Win 7 Pro x64 and Linux Mint 16 x64

Personas which have been working for a long time suddenly quit working on Win 7 and Linux. I tried changing to a different persona to change the background for the top border of the window and it just goes to some odd color and the personas just don't show up. This has been with Firefox 30, 31, 32. The personas still work with Win XP Pro run as a virtual machine on Win 7 host or Win 8 host. I thought it was a Windows thing until I saw the same problem with Linux. Everything else seems normal so this isn't a real bad problem. It's just odd.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).
