VirtualBox and R12 pre-build developer vm

Howdy,
Is there any indication of when a pre-built developer vm will be available for VirtualBox?
Cheers,
Russ.

I have no experience with updating the VM image you mention, nor do I know whether this will work or is a good idea. But to answer your question where to obtain Oracle Linux binaries or update the system:
You can download installation DVD's from:
https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux
You can do free updates of Oracle Linux configuring Oracle Public Yum using the el5_latest repository and typing "yum update" at the command line. More info at:
http://public-yum.oracle.com/
Upgrading from one major Oracle or RHEL Linux release to another, e.g. 5.x to 6.x is not supported and cannot be done by yum or other package managers.

  • Pre Build EXE and Installer Set Version

So this topic comes up relatively often so I thought I'd make a new thread showing an example of how to make it work.  The problem is developers want a way to set the version of builds programmatically.  Luckily NI added some VIs for doing this.  Too bad you can't invoke them from the Pre-Build action of a build, because that information is read before the pre-build.  Here is an idea exchange discussing it.
But I figured I could come with some kind of work around and I have two, and neither is perfect.  Attached is a simple project.  It contains a VI that runs reading the EXE version that it is running from once it is in an EXE.  The project has three build specifications, an EXE, and two installers.  The developer can set the Major, Minor, and Fix of the EXE, but the build version is set programmatically in the Pre-Build action.  The version of the installers will also be set to the version of the EXE.
Attempt to build the EXE and a dialog will appear asking to enter the build version that should be used.  This could be determined some other way but this was the easiest for the demo.  If the EXE, and the Installers are already the correct version, where the build is the same as the one specified, and the installers are the same version as the EXE, then the build goes on like normal.  But if the build you enter is not the same as the current, it will abort the current build, change the versions, and then tell the operator to attempt to build again.  This time no prompt is seen and the build will work like normal with the version you set earlier.
The downside to this method is you have to tell the developer to build again, I figured I could do that programmatically so I tried.  There is a constant on the BD of Prebuild Action VI.vi, and if it is set to True it will try to invoke a new build on its own.  The problem with this method is the build the user invoked is aborted and the user sees the error.  But the second build might have worked fine, but there isn't any feedback.
In any case this is a sorta working way of setting EXE and Installer build versions from a pre-build VI.

I took your idea and "simplified" it a little
Some may want the simplified version I understand.  But for me I wanted a more robust VI, one that would work if a project had multiple build specifications of applications, or multiple installers.  Some developers may have two applications one that is normal, and another with debugging turned on and I wanted the versioning to work consistently there by grabbing the newest version and using it.  And in all my cases, if there is an installer it should be the same version as the EXE.
As for the getting around the error I think if I had enought time I could dig into the NI VIs to get rid of the error and show the progress of the new build.  The whole build process is a bunch of VIs, that augment the right click menus in the project so the source is there it is just taking time to understand it.

  • Pre-requisite checker script for EBS R12 and R12.1

    hi
is it possible to make a pre-requisite checker script (in perl or shell) for EBS R12 and R12.1 in RHEL5 or sun OS??
can anyone help / guide me to do so??
    rgrds

I don't know about EBS R12, but apparently the Oracle Universal Installer can use options to just run the prerequisite checks without having to install the product.
    E.g. /runInstaller -prereqChecker or -executeSysPrereqs

  • Why is the pre build VirtualBox without OSB?

Do any of you have an idea why the pre build [VM SOA|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/learnmore/vmsoa-172279.html] doesn't come with the OSB installed?
    Thanks in advance,

Basically because there are limited examples for OSB and it requires more resources to start SOA and OSB together.

    Dear all Gurus,
We are going to implement Oracle EBS r12, for industrial concern, we have following quires if any peer may suggest.
    1) we heard the oracle R12 has build new release with 11g db , is it been practical for choosing it for corporate ???
    2) Linux Read hat which version is more stable like 5 releases is compatible with R12 new release?
    3) We are also thinking for 64 bit architecture rather than 32 bit, could any one figure out the practical pros and cons for this.
    4) We are also wondering about the server machine brand and its configurations like HP DL380 G6, DELL 2850? could any one share abut his experience about the same.
    5) What sort of Server configurations (Processor , 2way -4way , RAM , HD and other accessories ) for r12 Multi node setup for 150 clients (DB Server , Apps Server , Test Prod )
    6) What should be backup strategies like tap backup and how much space requirements we must have provisioned for retaining almost 2~3 month backup.
    7) Application implementations methodologies?
    8)
I know to address our queries would be time consuming for you bust peoples , but I would really oblige for being shared your journey this would defiantly the PATH way for other like mentoring for others.
looking forward your valuable instructions ASAP.

  • Webcenter PS3 pre-build virtual machine question

    Experts,
I have following queries regarding VM for web center
    1) What are the limitation of using pre-build virtual machine for development/testing environment compared to standard installation?
    2) What are the webcenter features not supported by pre-build WC VM but is supported in standard installation?
I am thinking of using pre-build WC VM for development and testing environment. So, want to know the limitation before using it.
    Appreciate any help on this.
    Ashish
P.S - Standard installation is installing DB (using RCU), weblogic & webcenter suite.

The pre build is very good for demonstration purpose. You can do some development on it but i don't think this is recommended.
The pre build machine is just a plain installation with a DB, weblogic and webcenter suite. If you create your own VM with the same software, than there is not much difference between the pre build machine.
If you don't plan on using a real server for your development purpose than you can use the pre build machine. I don't know if it is allowed so maybe you should check this with Oracle. There isn't a real difference between an installation that you will do an the pre build machine to technicaly, you could use it... Licence wise... you should check it with Oracle.

  • The issue is related to firefox 3.5 but is also seen in firefox 3.6 the images rendered like a curtain effect if they are not preloaded and the page builds up in part rather than building all at once and showing

When we traverse from one page to the other and this is not different php pages, its the same html page only dom manipulation. to show different gui one after the other. Now on these screens there are some images that are preloaded like loaded upfront and some are pulled at run time when user visits that screen. All images that are pulled on run time show a curtain effect. This is problem number 1, we cannot preload these images since the systems are having only 250mb ram.
Now the other problem is that when the user goes from one screen to the other the entire screen builds up in one shot on ff 1.0.8 but on ff 3.5 or 3.6 it builds up in parts
Do we need to change some configuration in firefox so that the curtain effect is eliminated, Is there a setting in firefox 3.5 that can make the rendering more like ff 1.0.8 or ff 2.
Is there any different that you suggest we do our dom manipulations or some ways that we should not do if that is the cause of the issue. This is very urgent since we are loosing users due to performance problems

  • Do the "Pre-built Developer VMs" work on Windows 7 Home 64-bit OS

    Hello,
Do the "Pre-built Developer VMs" work on the laptops with Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit Operating System?
    Thanks
    Mohanraj

Yes, Aman you are right. As I guessed it worked. I was not sure that the Oracle Virtual Box will work on Home Premium 64-Bit because the download page did not say anything about which flavor of 64-Bit OS is supported. However, I downloaded and installed ("Oracle Virtual Box and Pre-built Developer VMs"). Afterwards, I tested a few items, so far looks good.
    Thanks for your response.

  • Issue with setting the tag "Bld_localDestDir" in pre-build VI: Project gets saved to previous localDestDir.

    Hey All,
I'm writing a pre-build VI that updates the build destination (and other items, but we're ignoring those for now). This pre-build vi, when run, grabs the Destination Directory from the tag "Bld_localDestDir" and modifies the directory by incrementing a version number.
The issue I'm having is that after the pre-build vi is run, the build continues and puts the executable in the *previous* Destination directory instead of the updated one.
    Example:
Destination Dir = c:\temp\version1   -->   Choose to build the executable   -->   Pre-build VI runs and sets Destination Dir to c:\temp\version2   -->   Build finishes and says "You can locate the build at C:\temp\version1"   -->   Check the build properties, destination dir is C:\temp\version2   -->   build again   -->   Pre-build runs and updates destination to version3   -->   Build finishes and says "you can locate the build at C:\temp\version2"   -->   check build properties, destination dir is C:\temp\version3
And so on and so forth. As you can see, the tag setting is working (as witnessed by the Build Properties being updated). However, it looks like the destination directory for the build is determined and set *before* the pre-build VI is run. This is, in my opinion, not intended behavior.
Here's a snippet of a watered-down version of the code, which still has the issue. I've also attached the full VI, saved for LV2010.
The attached VI will grab the version number of the build, append it to the startup vi's title bar, update the build destinations with a new path that has the version number, and then save the project.
As a final note, I'd prefer to not use a post-build VI to rename the directory that the build is placed in.
    Solved!

Cool, thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy.   And no, I haven't found any documentation concerning this phenomenon.
    > gmart Said:

Good to know. I think this should be in the documentation somewhere though, perhaps in the detailed help for the Get/Set Tag invoke nodes for a Build Spec reference.
To fix the issue, I've just made my own "Build Executable" vi that sets the tags before the build is started. It uses the same VI that I attached earlier (confirming that the VI works). Instead of starting the build from the project window and having a pre-build vi execute, I run this stand-alone VI and it builds the app.

  • NI IEEE 488.2 and Borland C++ Builder 1.0

I have an NI IEEE 488.2 card connected to a HP DVM. I am using this as a
test bed to develop the 488.2 base code for other projects. The rack system
normally runs off of LabVIEW 6.1.
I will eventually move this code over to run an old prober. When I initiate
the program level commands, ibdev or ibwrt for example, through WIBIC I have
no problems. Neither setting up or reading from the meter. When I utilize
these very same commands in the compiled software I get nothing. It's as if
the program isn't even going out and looking for the card.
I have called the decl-32.h and the NI provided .obj file as the language
    translator, but nothing.
    Any help?
    Seth

    Diego,
Thanks for the reply. I fixed the problem. It was the machine I was working
on. I had our IT guy give me a more up to date machine and comm. commenced
nicely. I've only written a small bit of C++ and like the Builder
environment. There never was anything wrong with the card, the NI 488.2 or
    NI 488 commands.
But, I'm moving on to our LabVIEW 6i. As an engineer, I was appalled to
find that we owned a full version of 6i Development System and are still
testing our production devices by hand.
Being that I am learning LabVIEW, you are sure to hear from me quite a bit.
Any help as to the location of some nice info on communicating with Excel
    from LabVIEW?
    Regards,
    Seth

  • Office 365 online Sharepoint (Business Premium) - pre-build intranet site that can be installed

    Hello,
Is their any possibility to setup in the new Office 365 online a SharePoint with a pre-build intranet website?
Those options exists in many intranet systems. Example: in Bitrix24 their is possebility to start with a theme for intranet site. The basic theme includes: Several internal departments (Management, IT, Sales, HR ect), tasks by deparment, users groups (by
department) with permissions for each departments, news feed by department ect.
Is their any pre-build option with a simple intranet configuration?
Sometimes it is much easier to configure when using a common simple company structures.
    Thank you

    Hi,
For SharePoint Online backup and restore, there are basically 4 options:
Use the recycle bin and version history.
Use a 3rd party tool for backup and restore (there are several).
Manually backup sites, lists, and libraries (see:
Information about manual migration of SharePoint Online content and
How to back-up an Office 365 SharePoint Online site and data)
Create an Office 365 support request (see:

  • Has any one (or) can we  run 11i and R12 in single AIX 5.3 OS

    Hi,
I have a requirement for running 11.5.10.2 and R12.1.3 in single AIX 5.3 OS.
The only thing i doubt about is the pre-requisites like Java version, and other packages.
Would be there be any conflict or version mismatch.
    Thanks

There might be a conflict as the packages required for R12 might be higher for 11i and would not work – Please go through the installation docs to confirm.
Both 11i and R12 are certified on AIX 64-bit OS and I do not see any issues in running both releases on the same OS but I would not recommend it except when you need to upgrade from 11i to R12 -- You may give it a try and install both release and see if it works.

Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.1.1) for IBM AIX on Power Systems (64-bit) [ID 761569.1]
You may also log a SR and see what Oracle support would suggest.
