Virtualization Support for DMM 5.2

Hi all,
Would like to know, with the latest release of version 5.2, can the DMM (with Digital Signs and Cast modules) run on a VMWare ESX environment and supported by Cisco?
Kindly advice.
Thanks and best regards.

Hi all,
What are the server requirements for Cisco DMM and Show&Share? I know we can use UCS C210 both of them however I can not find what is the exact requirement such as RAM, HDD, CPU...
Best Regards,

  • Is there still any hope to have virtualization feature for my compaq 620 energy star notebook?

    Dear HP Support,
it looks like that the motherboard of my compaq 620 energy star notebook doesn't support virtualization technology, even though replace the processor with one with virtualization feature, my notebook still can't have virtualization feature. moreover it is said the CPU socket type of notebook is soldiered to the motherboard, so the processor of notebook can't be replaced. if this is the case, it seems that i can't replace the processor of my notebook.
am i correct? is there still any hope to have virtualization feature for my compaq 620 energy star notebook?
    thanks,
    q.s.

The processor can be upgraded; it is socketed. However, virtualization must be implemented in the motherboard and BIOS and without that, upgrading the processor will do no good. Which processor do you have?
    Here is the Service Manual:
    Manual
See page 120....virtualization is possible on some models but I am going to assume only the models with a Core2 Duo processor. Celeron and Pentium Dual models use a different chipset on the motherboard so even if you put in a Virtualization capable CPU it would not work.

  • Is smb 3.0 already supported for exchange 2013

    Hello,
We are looking to deploy exchange 2013. We have a netapp storage and vmware environment.
I was wondering if smb 3.0 is already supported for exchange 2013. I read in a blog of 2012 that it wasn't supported at the time. We would like to use it instead of a iscsi lun.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, it is still not supported for Exchange 2013 up to now.
Here is an article for your reference, please refer to the "Exchange storage requirements" section.

  • Windows 8.1 Support for MED-V

    Hi
Can i deploy the Windows XP SP3 image as MED-v Workspace to Windows 8.1 Enterprise.
in other words, are MED-V supported to Windows 8.1 ??
    Shailendra
    Shailendra Dev

Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V) is only supported on Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise.
In Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Professional and Enterprise, the virtualization engine Windows Virtual PC upon which MED-V is run is replaced by Client Hyper-V. Bear in mind, however, that support for Windows XP is ending in less than a month on April 8, 2014.
This applies to MED-V and virtual environments such as Hyper-V clients as well as physical machines. There
is a great write up on MED-V and Windows XP End of Support here which I would highly recommend reading through in addition to

  • How to upgrade Compaq 620 Energy Star from non virtualization to virtualization support?

    Dear HP community,
My Compaq 620 Energy Star notebook with CPU Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4500, not support virtualization. For supporting virtualization, I want to upgrade it, e.g. upgrade motherboard (if necessary), upgrade BIOS, upgrade CPU etc. Please recommend the correct and compatible version/model of parts to be upgraded to enable virtualization in this notebook.
It is said it is not easy to upgrade the notebook, but I think with the correct tools and approaches, it shouldn't be difficult to upgrade the notebook.
Thank you very much for your help !

    Hi,
Given all those plus labor cost. My suggestion: buy a new machine, a lot cheaper.

  • Is vmware supported for production environment ?

    Hi All,
Is vmware supported for production environment ?
    Thanks
    Sunny

    All,
I'm glad someone has outlined the clear support statement that has existed for sometime between VMware - SAP.  For those of you still running on Oracle, here is some good news:
Wording towards SAP Customers requesting support:
"Oracle, VMware and SAP are working collaboratively to ensure support for SAP customers that use VMware virtualization for SAP solutions running Oracle DB. Functional tests are currently being performed to verify supportability of the SAP&Oracle stack.  Details will be made available in SAP note 1173954 u201CSupport of Oracle for VMwareu201D after tests have been completed. It is expected that in Q1 2010, ESX 3.5 and later releases including vSphere 4 will be supported by Oracle and SAP according to Oracleu2019s metalink note 249212."
There is no reason why x86 platform today cannot run the most demanding workloads on VMware vSphere in a production environment.  But has noted earlier, don't get hung up on "production" - you have heaps of TestDev, SolMan TestDev, sandboxes, gateways, application servers etc that should immediately by put into a VM - once you are comfortable with your solution in-house, I'm sure you will move production instances into a VM as well.

  • Oracle's Support for Virtual Iron customers

Please refer to the blog entry at:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/virtualization/2009/07/oracle_vm_blog_whats_safe.html
Lot's of chatter out there today about VMware's migration program. Below are a few points for customers to consider…
    1. Oracle is dedicated to the on-going support of Virtual Iron customers and has enhanced the support offering beyond what was previously available from Virtual Iron. Oracle is pleased to be able to offer its Lifetime Support program for Virtual Iron products, which will extend sustaining support for these products and the Virtual Iron Enterprise Edition products indefinitely. Please refer to the Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Technology Products on the specific support options for Virtual Iron products. In addition, Oracle has retained Virtual Iron support personnel, so that people who provided support prior to the acquisition will continue to do so going forward.
    2. Our intent is to seamlessly combine Virtual Iron's technology with Oracle VM to deliver a product that is unique in the industry both in breadth of functionality, and also depth of features specifically designed to make the full application stack easier to deploy, manage, and support in a virtual environment. Through the combination of Virtual Iron's technology with Oracle VM, customers will be able to benefit from an optimized, efficient application infrastructure with low operating costs. In the meantime, existing customers can be assured that they are fully supported, 24x7 through a world-class support organization.
    3. Oracle VM is a free download. Virtual Iron customers can download and start using Oracle VM today. Oracle VM supports both Oracle and non-Oracle software, and delivers more efficient performance than other virtualization products. Moreover, there's no license cost for Oracle VM. You can benefit from complete virtualization and operating system stack with Oracle Enterprise Linux and Oracle VM that permits dramatically faster and easier deployment of enterprise software.
    4. Compare. Oracle VM support pricing.

Got my call and was unable to get all my questions answered (my fault had to cut call short), also I was unable to get the tech called back today so i am hoping that I can tomorrow.
Preliminary thoughts/answers seam to point that they will sell you additional licenses if you buy support for all of your existing boxes, plus the ones you want to add. Because I use single processor boxes I am trying to get them to license based on the cpu count instead of by the box. If by the box it doubles my cost.
We talked a great deal about the Oracle VM 2.2 that was released for download and how if compaired to Virtual iron. Oracle is not up to the Virtual Iron level yet but it made some big jumps and will be there pretty soon, by their account. I look forward to seeing the progress and the advances that they will surely incorperate with the huge influx of cash that Oracle will bring.
    Stay tuned.

  • Digital Media Manager support for Hyper-V?

    Hi
Just a quick question, is there any planned support for the DMM Virtual appliance to be hosted on Hyper-V (on server 2012) or any supported conversion methods for a VMware Virtual Appliance to a Hyper-V version

    David,
I would reach out to the business unit responsible to verify but I highly doubt it.  DMM is not being developed further and is in a Maintenance Mode.  Since the change over to Appspace being the main platform for Cisco Digital Signage there will be no further feature development on the DMM platform in that regard.  Appspace is fully supported in a VM environment though.
I have also listed the contact info of the PM responsible who you could unicast to verify.

    Thanx Deepak,
            As per Note 1329848
All Oracle products (incl. Oracle Database 11.2.x, Oracle RAC 11.2.x, Oracle Client 11.2.x) certified to run on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2012 are also certified to run on these Operating Systems when running as virtual machines under Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V, whether used in a private cloud or public cloud (including Windows Azure) environment, subject to the exceptions and additional information identified below.
List of Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V guest OSes includes:
    Windows Server 2012
    Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1

Oracle has not certified any of its products on VMware virtualized environments. Oracle Support will assist customers running Oracle databases on VMware in the following manner: Oracle will only provide support for issues that either are known to occur on the native OS, or can be demonstrated not to be as a result of running on VMware.
Still Some Customers are using .Is it Advisable to use VM?
One more option proposed by partner:
All  DEV/QAS servers for portal,BI,Solman on single server without any VM on Single is Advisable?

  • Virtualization support in Sun middleware

Check out a new SDN article, "Virtualization Support in Sun Middleware," at http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/tools/support-vrtlzn.html. It answers the question "Can I deploy Sun Java Enterprise System in the various virtualization environments?" and features Q&As of interest.

    No,
S1AS7.0 does not support the JMX for user applications. JMX 1.0 is only an internal implementation feature of S1AS7.0.

  • Do MSI intend to implement BIOS support for IOMMU in its 890FXA-GD70 ??

All three of Asus 890FX boards officially support IOMMU in their BIOS -
    see the following two links:
    http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20100609185547531&SLanguage=en-us&board_id=1&model=M4A89TD%20PRO/USB3

    http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20100606232119109&board_id=1&model=Crosshair+IV+Formula&page=1&SLanguage=en-us
Now we ask for MSI's official stance on implementing IOMMU support in an upcoming BIOS for its 890FXA-GD70 motherboard.
And, if affirmative answer could you give us an approximate date when to expect a beta BIOs to try out?
The following OS environments should be able to take advantage of any hardware I/O virtualization support:
    -Xen 4
    -Linux+KVM
    -Vmware ESX(i) (VMDirectPath)
    -Parallels Workstation Extreme 4.
-Plus there's also a IOMMU wish ticket out for Oracle's Virtualbox...

    http://infoworld.com/d/virtualization/parallels-workstation-4-extreme-lowers-virtualization-overhead-237?source=fssr

I contacted AMD a few weeks ago to clarify whether the IOMMU feature is available in the 890 FX chipset and this was their response:
"Thank you for contacting AMD. I would like to verify for you that yes, the 890FX chipset does offer the IOMMU feature, however you will want to keep in mind that manufacturers can decide to enable or disable this feature through the BIOS and therefore you will want to verify with manufacturer of your specific board. But in short, yes it does offer the ability to do so."
    Pre-Sales Support -> http://us.msi.com/msi_user/PreSaleForm.aspx
I had contacted pre-sales support before purchasing my board and they said IOMMU was supported, however now that I have the board I know that the bios does not have the necessary support.  Most likely they just thought I was asking about SVM.
I submitted a support ticket asking when/if they were planning to add support but again there was some confusion about it being different from SVM.  Still waiting to hear back, I'll let you know when I do.

  • Cannot boot if HP ENVY Bios Virtualization enabled for Win8 Pro Hyper-V

HP Envy H8-1414 desktop machine (just bought last week)
Upgraded from Win8 to Win8 Pro
Win8 Pro has Hyper-V just like a Server OS, so I
    - enabled Virtualizaiton in the Bios
    - in Win8 Pro, Control Panel, Programs and Features, Add/Remove Windows Software
    - enabled Hyper-V
    - reboot
    - won't get past Window logo with rotating "busy" circle underneath
Power off, into BIOS, disable Virtualization
Machine now boots, but Hyper-V won't work.
So, looks like the BIOD supports virtualization, but not for Windows 8.

    To add some more details....
The HP specs for this machine say Gigabyte motherboard, but you can't find the model on Gigabyte's web site, and Gigabyte won't support it (I tried, they said it is not theirs - great). Anyway, some Gigabyte boards show a similar problem and the workaround is to disable USB 3 host in the bios, but this machine's BIOS does not show this option.
When I spoke with HP, they very quickly told me that I needed to call Microsoft. They would not provide support for this BIOS issue. Microsoft seemed pretty surprised that they would pass the buck so quickly and I can at least say that they are being very attentive to the problem.
With Microsoft support, they had me recreate the problem and wanted me to let it hang on the Windows logo screen for one hour. Then, they had me run a tool which dumps a bunch of logs and diagnostics to some files which I have sent to them.  That's the most recent step so I'm waiting to hear back from them.
I've used Hyper-V on a buch of HP machines with no problems, but none of them with Windows 8. I'm tempted to put in another drive and install Windows 2008 R2 or 2012 and see if Hyper-V works.
I've typically purchased HP machines (for work, so more than an individual woudl buy) because they have been reliable but I've never attempted to use HP support. I was surprised how poor it was. I would think that this would be an issue they would want to resolve and I expect it may be possible with a BIOS update.
