Virus/Bug Corrupted my PDF Files

Alright, so everytime I open a PDF file an obscene picture pops up. I'm not going to describe what it is, but simply put it is hentai and not something you want on your phone. Every time I open a PDF file it pops up for several seconds before going to the actual file. Besides being a nuisance it doesn't seem to effect my phone in any way, but I really want to get rid of it... I've searched and haven't found any similar problems. I'd hate to think I'm the first person..
Anyone know how I can fix this?

Try doing these steps
1. Backup the data that is stored on your USB partition (this will include pictures, music, etc)
2. Perform a Full erase
a. Launch device info
b. Select Reset options
c. Choose "Full Erase"
3. After the full erase sign back into your Palm profile
Before restoring any other data do you see the problem coming back?

  • Contribute Cs5 bug in reading pdf. file

I am using a trial version of Contribute Cs5 on my Mac.  When I want to see a pdf. file on my website through Contribute Cs5, after following all the instruction, I got the following message:
The requested URL /SRC_Residents/Interest Group/Walkers schedule/currentmonth__MMtmp315cb6b9/currentmonth.pdf was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I then looked into my website and found that there is an added folder with the above name, but there is nothing in this folder. My file is definitely there because I can see it on my website directly in the same folder as the added folder from Contribute.
I think this is a bug in the Contribute program.  Apparently Contribute created this folder but did not put the file in the right place.
I will only consider buying this version if the bug is corrected.
Does the Contribute Cs5 have the same problem in the PC version?
    Tsing Bardin

    Hi Tsing,
To upload pdf, doc, xls files to your website, you can use the Publish File From My Computer option.
Click File menu, and select Publish File From My Computer from the dropdown menu.
In the resulting dialog, browse to the folder that contains the pdf document, select the pdf document and click Select button. (If you are connected to multiple websites, Contribute will ask you to select which website you would want to upload the file to. Select a website.)
Then, you get the Publish dialog, where, you can choose in which folder you want to publish the file to, and click Publish button.
Now, the file will be uploaded to your website.
Similar to Flash Paper option, latest versions of Contribute has Insert Document as PDF and Insert PDF. So, you can embed a pdf document within your web page and then publish. For more information - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/contribute/cs/using/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d1180fba204e-7f91. html
As for the contents being empty in the temporary folder, the contents are deleted after preview in browser is done. That is, after closing the Browser window after Preview in Browser, the contents in the temporary folder are deleted.

  • Intermittent Bug when saving pdf files in Illustrator CS6

I save a pdf file in Illustrator CS6 with a specific art board size. When I open it in Acrobat the size is off. When our print's RIP's the file, it is off the same amount. I will re-open it in Illustrator and re-save it and just change the name, the artboard is then correct. This is very intermittent. It has happened on two copies of CS6. Both prograns are current with the updates. I am on a iMac running OS 10.6.8.

    Document size is: 36.01 x 98.12
I can open up both documents in Illustrator and they are identical.
We have been using these presets for a couple of years without issue. The problem started happening about 3 weeks ago on 2 seperate computers. We have not seen the problem with CS5.5 and earlier.

  • Corrupt/bad PDF files

Hi everyone!! I downloaded pdf files from a health insurance site which is now causing my computer to freeze any time I go near these files..
If I try to drag the files to the bin, it will make my Finder unresponsive. If I try opening the files, they make Preview unresponsive.
How can I delete these files from my computer??

I'm not a terminal guy but you might be able to successfully delete them that way.

  • Corrupted Font, PDF File detection in illustrator

    Hello,
I am new to illustrator. Is there any way to know in illustrator using javascript that the opened PDF have corrupted fonts inside?.Two cases, first in which font is available in our system and other in which font is not available in our system. If font is not available in our system the Illustrator ask to replace the font with some other default font but if the font is available in our system it just takes the orignal correct font from system and make the corrupted PDF font, correct. In both the cases corrupted font is not coming in the PDF opened in illustrator. In javascript textFont abject is perfect, it has all the properties which a normal textFont object must have.

    Joy,
Understand: The alert you describe is telling you that a font embedded in the PDF is not available for use in the OS. The font is just missing, not "corrupted."
An actual corrupted font can manifest itself in many errant and unpredictable ways in Illustrator; the program doesn't "know" the font is corrupted; it just suffers from whatever damage the corruption causes--like any other kind of corrupted file.
When you open a PDF in Illustrator, the dialog in the standard user interface gives you opportunity to replace a missing font with one that is installed, or ignore it (in which case the default font will be substituted.) As to whether Javascript can be written to automate that, I doubt that the detection of the alerts and the options for answering them are supported in the Javascript model. Moreover, the "answers" would probably have to be written for your specific set of available fonts if you want it to answer with a substitution. But I've never explored that, so I'll defer to anyone who has.

  • Corrupt Scanned PDF files

I scanned a form from a Brothers 5840CN MF and it could be read by Adobe Reader X.  New scanned files are now corrupt.  Is there a  problem with Adbobe Reader X?

If your earlier scans can be opened with Reader X, but new scanned documents cannot, I can only conclude that something is wrong with your scanner software.

  • Adobe 8 - Unexpected Corrupt or incorrect file type warning when viewing a PDF file from the Web

    Hi,
On downloading a PDF file from my web site using Adobe 8 on the client machine I expect the file to open automatically however I receive encounter the "File Download" dialog. It has the following warning message: "The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the default program. It is either corrupted or it has an incorrect file type. As a security precaution, it is recommended that you cancel the download."
This issue did not occur within previously tested versions of Adobe Reader (e.g. Version 5.1).
On investigating the issue I discovered the factor that results in Adobe 8 failing to open the file automatically is the Content-Type = "application/pdf; Charset=utf-8". However, if I intercept the response and alter the Content-Type to contain only "application/pdf;" the issue on Adobe 8 does not occur.
I have even tested when the Content-Type contains an empty Charset (i.e. "application/pdf; Charset=") but this issue still occurs. In addition setting the Charset to other encodings (e.g. "ISO-LATIN-7", "iso-8859-1") the issue occurs.
    QUESTION(s):
    1. Why is it necessary for Adobe 8 when opening PDF files from the web to expect no Charset within the Content-Type?
    2. If this was not an issue within previous versions of Adobe surly this is a bug?
Since I cannot ensure that the Response's Content-Type does not contain a Charset at all please can someone suggest either a work-around or more importantly a solution to the issue?
    Please Note:-
    1. Within Adobe, Edit -> Preferences -> Internet option it's compulsory for our users to have "Display PDF in browser" ticked!
    2. We cannot prevent a Charset from being present within the Content-Type of the response sent to the client, hence this issue.
    Many Thanks in advance,
    Martin.

    Bill,
This is exactly the same behavior I observed when I rendered a PDF stored in a database through a .NET page. If I chose to save it, it would open fine after the save, but if I chose to open it in the browser without saving it, I would get the error.
The problem was not with the PDF or Acrobat. It was with the way I was delivering the PDF. Putting the following code before my binarywrite fixed the issue completely:
    Response.ClearHeaders()
    Response.ClearContent()
    Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"
    Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + saveFilename)
where saveFileName is the name you want to give the PDF.
You can use 'inline' instead of 'attachment' above if you just want the PDF to open (no option to save first). You can also use 'pdf' instead of 'octet-stream' (not sure the difference).
The trouble seems to be that .NET puts some info in the header and/or content by default prior to anything your code says to write. If you don't clear this, IE has an issue with it. Other browsers seem to ignore it.
Bottomline is that this is an issue the website programmer needs to fix and is not something the user can fix by changing some setting(s).
    I hope this helps.

  • Why are my received file attachments (Office files such as .doc, .docx, .xlsx but also pdf files) corrupted - so that I cannot open them?

For the last month, 90% of the file attachments that I receive by email will not open on my MacBook Pro (2009, running Mac OS 10.7.5). I get assorted messages, but generally saying that the file is corrupt, or the filename contains unacceptable characters. The problem has been generally with Word files (.doc and .docx)], Excel files (.xls and .xlsx) and pdf files.
The bit that I don't understand is that I can open the same email attachments (without any problem) when downloaded on my iMac. And I have recently found that colleagues who received the same emails can open them, and can transfer the files to me (usually by USB stick) … and then I can open them. But I still cannot open the same files received as email attachments on my MacBook Pro.
Which makes me think that the files (email attachments) are somehow being corrupted as they are downloaded?
I installed the Mac OS X Update Combined 10.7.5 in July, so perhaps this was when the problem started? And, although it may be unrelated, around the same time as this problem started, I transferred some files from a colleague's computer on a USB stick and found that the USB stick had picked up a virus/malware, which meant that the stick was dead, and I had to reformat the stick. I scanned my computer (using ClamXav, with the latest updates) and quarantined a file found on the USB stick and on my computer.
Any thoughts on why this might happen, and what I can do to sort it out (as it is making work very difficult - I travel a lot, and rely on being able to open and read files sent from countries all over the world, often by people using old versions of Office software)? I have never had problems in the past, and can't understand why my other computer, and my colleagues, can all open these files, but my laptop will not! Many thanks for any help!

I opened one of the PDF files in notepad and these are the first couple lines:

  • PDF files corrupted, how to recover them?

I am using ubuntu 11.04. Few days ago, I installed wine to run .exe programs on the system. Somehow .exe virus flooded into the system & the entire system has got corrupted. Now I am unable to view pdf files as all of them are corrupted. How can recover them now?

Some viruses destroy all PDF (and other types of file) on the system. If this is the case, they are gone, and you need to restore from backup.

  • You click on a .pdf file; Firefox won't load and says "not a pdf or corrupted," but all other browsers open it normally

Clicking on a link to a .pdf file in Firefox results in Firefox displaying the box "Format error: not a .pdf or corrupted"
This has happened for several years with any number of web pages. A link to the latest event is below, but it typically happens almost every time I click on a link to a .pdf

General Repair of Adobe Acrobat Reader corrupted .pdf file...
    1. Go to adobe official site, click the "Support" tab on the top of the screen, click on "Adobe Reader," and then select the "I can't open a PDF document" statement underneath "Troubleshooting." The Support tab is located near the top of the screen as a white word against a black backdrop. After clicking Support, you will see the phrase "Product Support Centers" on a new page in bold white font, under which is "Adobe Reader." The new page after clicking "Adobe Reader" will have the word "Troubleshooting" underneath the phrase "Adobe Reader and Help Support." Underneath "Troubleshooting" is "I can't open a PDF document."
    2. Follow the instructions on how to complete a general repair and installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader. To attempt the most basic PDF repair method, Open "Adobe Acrobat Reader" (select the program in your Start menu, which is on the bottom-left part of the screen), select "Help" from the gray tab menu at the top of Adobe Acrobat Reader, and click on "Repair Adobe Reader Installation." A meter should pop up indicating that your Adobe version is being checked for errors and is being linked back to the home Adobe official website just in case you need to download a new update of the program. If you need to download an updated version of the program, another pop-up will appear on your screen asking you if you want to update Adobe. Click "Yes."
    3. Reopen the PDF file. It should now be readable. If not, then try the next set of directions.
    4. If nothing helped, and you can't redowload .pdf file from source where it was, then use third party solution PDF On-line repair service https://onlinefilerepair.com/en/pdf-repair-online.html

  • Bug in Preview in Snow Leopard when opening multiple pdf files at once

I receive 50-200 pdf files by e-mail each day. I have historically saved the pdf attachments to a folder, then selected all the pdf files in the folder (CMD A), then opened all the selected files in Preview (CMD O). After updating to Snow Leopard, downloading 34 pdf files to a folder, selecting them all, then attempting to open them all in Preview (using both CMD O, then File/Open, then File/Open With), the effort first opens 6 of the 34 files. Closing all then trying again results in 7 files being opened, closing all then trying again results in 8 files being opened, etc etc. Earlier today I had the same results, but eventually got a message asking if I wanted to open all in separate windows (I did) or a single window, and it opened all the files at once as I wanted. After shutting down, moving home, and receiving additional pdf files, however, back to the same open 5, then open 6, etc. problem. Anyone else having this problem or a suggestion on how to resolve?
    Thanks for suggestions,
    B

More info - apparently the bug isn't related to Preview, but to the attempt to open all pdf files in the folder with ANY program. After having Preview open 25 of the 34 files I was attempting to open, I then tried opening all 34 with Adobe Reader. It opened 26 (after Preview had opened 25). Tried again with Preview - it opened 27, then 28 with Adobe Reader. It doesn't necessarily open the FIRST 25 (or 26, etc) either, so it's difficult to work with the open ones, then go back and work with the remaining ones later.

  • When trying to generate pdf file from firefox 7.0.1 , getting corrupt content error, used to work with previous versions of firefox

We have done toleration testing on firefox version 5 thru 6 and haven't got an issue with our website generating pdf files for our users. One of our users upgraded to firefox version 7.0.1 and they tried to generate a pdf report, now a screen pops up with Corrupted Content Error The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected. I recreated this issue on my pc yesterday by installing firefox 7.0.1. Any hints as to what I need to look at would help. Cannot provide the url because it is a secure website for law enforcement. Thanks.

You can turn off compatibility checking, but more and more of the Google Toolbar will not work. Google is no longer supporting the Google Toolbar so you should use the alternatives.

Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder.

  • Intermittent Problem of Corruption when printing PDF files

From time to time I have a problem with text corruption when printing pdf files. Text comes out one character alphabetically later.
For example, a file I printed yesterday contained the text "ONE WEEK VISITOR LICENCE". On printing it again today (on the same computer and printer), it appeared as "POF!XFFL!WJTJUPS!MDFODF". But another attempt immediately afterwards was correct. Here is a scan of the correct and incorrect printouts
I have had this problem intermittently over a couple of years, particularly with pdf files embedded as a frame in a web page.
I am using Adobe Reader 10.1.0 (but the problem has also appeared on earlier versions), Windows XP SP3 with all updates and an HP Deskjet 6980 printer on a wireless link.
    Any advice would be welcome

Not sure why this may be happening. But you can try printing the PDFs as an image, which should solve the problem. It may take a little longer to print but at least you will get a correct print.
You can do the same by Clicking on the Advanced button displayed on the Print dialog and checking the checkbox for "Print as Image".
Hope that this fixes the issue.
