Virus Checking Problems

I had ran the 10.5.5 server update last night and everything seemed to be fine. I log on the server admin this morning and check the server and that Mail server says Virus Scanning Unknown. So I go and check the Queue next and there are tons of e-mails in Queue all with the same error of:
host 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1] said: 451-4.5.0 Error in processing, id=14182-01, virus_scan FAILED: virus_scan: ALL VIRUS SCANNERS FAILED: ClamAV-clamd av-scanner FAILED: CODE(0x800e94
So I check the logs next and the amavis.log is churning out the same thing over and over again all these errors below. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

When I run the command like you said, I get a list of mirror servers. I also went to the servers in the freshclam.log that it says it can't reach and I can get to them through the web browser now problem. So I don't understand why it can't just download these definition files automatically and giving all these errors. But here is what I got when I ran dig:

Do you have a phone support number?
Firefox often disappears from my computer and I have to redownload. I do it from your site hoping it's safe, but my Internet Explorer always blocks it at first and I have to tell it it's ok. Then my virus checker pops up and says "potential problem", and then I search all the other options for downloading and the same thing happens with all of them.
How can I be sure I'm safe when downloading Firefox and why does this happen so often? I have XP, but my husband has it also on two computers, and he never has this problem.
I have also searched to see if I can contribute to Firefox, because I think it is a GREAT browser. I just don't know where to go for information like this, and you don't seem to have a phone number.
    Thank you.

  • Won't load Yahoo even after all virus checks - no virus detected

Mozilla will not load Yahoo.com page. Performed all the virus checks as suggested. Have no virus, malware etc. Running Windows 7 Pro.
Ran SuperAnti spyware, Adaware, Malwarbytes, spybot, Norton full system check, Avast full system.
Nothing came up except a few tracking cookies that were deleted.
I have been using Mozilla to avoid the troubles of IE for year now to run across this and have not been able to solve the issue. Any ideas?

There are a number of others here having the same problem (including me), where the project appears in Finder in the iMovie Projects folder but is not listed in the Project Library in iMovie. The project just seems to disappear from the Library.
Here is a link to a recent topic. It includes a post by me where I've provided links to other topics regarding this issue.

You've given an excellent summary of things you've tried. I've also tried most of those, but haven't as yet reinstalled iMovie. As I have Final Cut Pro X, I also attempted to open the project file in that app with no success. FCP X crashed just after loading, after I had selected from the menu - File > Import > iMovie Project.
You can submit feedback to Apple - from iMovie's Menu select iMovie > Provide iMovie Feedback.
Sorry I can't help you solve this.

  • BT Netprotect - McAfee Virus Checker

I've had this for a number of years now. Full Scan usually takes around 1 hour to 1hour 15 minutes. It's now taking  around 3 minutes. Report shows scan engine version 1840.0000 for the fast scan. Previous longer scans ended at 1838.0000. I'm using windows 8. Scan report shows roughly same number of items and registries scanned.
Can anyone show any light on this increase of scan speed? I'm worried in case there is a virus or something affecting the McAfee virus checker.

It could be just scanning any recently added items rather than a complete full scan. Run it again if you are worried and see what results you get.
My advice and that of others on the forum would be to uninstall BTNetprotect. It can cause problems on some computers and is a resource hog. Do a search of the forum to see the problems. There are far better free antivirus programs available such as Avast Free and AVG Free.
Windows 8 already comes pre-installed with Microsoft Security Essentials which might not be the best but is generally OK for most users and uses little resources.
If you do want to uninstall BTNetprotect use this guide and make sure you use the BTNetprotect/McAfee removal tool after you have restarted your computer.

  • BTNetProtectPlus and virus checking

I have BTNP+ installed on 2 W7 PCs.  Virus checking is set weekly, and to date I have had no major problems, just occasional viruses and trojans quarrantined and deleted.
My on line bank, NatWest have just told me that my access to them has revealed that my laptop is infected by a virus with the alias of either Ramnit, Tilon, Zeus (aka Zbot), Shylock or Torpig.  They advise that I "seek professional advice" before logging on to them again.
I am a retired IT manager, and am fully conversant with most parts of a PC. I have run a full virus check since the bank reported a problem and no viruses/trojans were found by BTNP+.
Can anyone advise me how effect BTNP+ is?  Or is this just a scam by the high street banks to get more business into local small businesses?
    Thanks

I still don't know how your bank could tell you had all these viruses on your computers without having scanned them for you. Did you have a problem and did they scan your computer?
I would suggest that to be sure you don't have any viruses on your computers you start them in safe mode then carry out a full virus scan using your virus scanner.
To start in safe mode follow this link
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Depending on what if anything your virus scanner finds will determine what you do next.
I would also "get a second opinion" by running an on line virus scanner after I had carried out the above. A decent on line virus scanner is Bitdefender. See this link
    http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/scanner/online/free.html
Also download and run Malwarebytes which will scan for malware on your computer.
    See this link
    http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=d...
If after running those and nothing shows up then you should be clear of viruses and malware.

  • Virus checks

i'm having trouble with my banking id and login.  bank want me to do a virus scan.  how do you do that an  a mac!  never had to do that before

You don't need to do a virus check on your Mac. It's unlikely to be the problem.
However, if your bank insists then try the free virus checker ClamXav.

  • Just ordered MB Pro, which virus checker/firewall?

I am waiting delivery of a MacBook Pro. I haven't used a Mac since my Mac SE and Mac IIci!
I'm assuming the MBP won't come with any software other than the OS. Which virus checker and firewall is recommended? On my PCs I have been using PC-ciliin as it's very fast compared to Norton. I will switch to Kaspersky or ZoneAlarm when my subscription ends for my PCs
Any recs for the Mac will be appreciated!

Just use the built in OSX firewall software.
Virus checkers usually cause far more problems than viruses on Macs, but if really feel you must have one, try ClamX. It's free/ donationware. http://www.clamxav.com/
The last time I saw a virus on a Mac was in 1997. I see people with problems actually caused by virus checkers every second day!

  • Since updating I can't click on horizontally placed links, buttons etc have uninstalled and reinstalled still doing it. Cant even see how to get an older version that did work and have run a virus check. explorer works

Firefox was automatically updated to 7 and now all the websites I go on the horizontal active things you would click on will not do anything. eg in ebay I can't access "My ebay" and in facebook can't click on my profile or messages, in Flickr I can't click on "Your Photostream" which means I can't use it. I tried explorer and all these work so it has to be firefox. I uninstalled and reinstalled and ran a complete system virus check on top of the active ongoing one and nothing no change. I am at a loss what to do now. A relative suggested downloading an older version that worked but I can't even see how to do that. I would appreciate help so I could use firefox as in the meantime I am stuck with exporer which I hate. Thanks

  • Downloading a specific file installs a keylogger not detected by virus checker

I recently downloaded "Optifine" for Minecraft from www.minecraftmine.org, and since then, every time I tried to log into any website, a window popped up asking me to enter my "password for the security software" - I thought this was due to me recently uprating my security settings in my virus checker (Trend Micro Titanium Maximum). The download was "powered by iLivid" and wanted to install a load of junk on my PC - I declined them all.
However, since then I found my profile got deleted from the forum I run, along with a few other member profiles, plus I've been unable to log into a few other websites I use as they say my password is invalid. Therefore I believe this iLivid install program is installing a key logger in Firefox (the security password box does not pop up in any other browser I have installed - I use them for testing my websites, but Firefox is my default browser).
I ran a full system scan using my virus checker, with nothing found apart from a few dodgy cookies, which were deleted. But the pop-up password box still persists in Firefox. The only way I removed it was to completely uninstall Firefox including all saves sites and preferences, and then re-installing Firefox (and now it's not asking me to enter my password anymore - even on sites I haven't visited in ages).
I'm now having to go through ALL my accounts to change their passwords (just to be on the safe side).
I will also be reporting this to Trend Micro, but as of yet they still don't have a compatible toolbar for Firefox :-(

    Hi there
I am glad you managed to resolve your issue. For future reference, you might want to take a look at this page: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware|Firefox issues caused by malware]] . It is also recommended to always download and install the latest security updates for optimum protection.

if i want to use A of Work Center 01 in the Project, the System will only check the Capacity of  01, or both of 01 and 02?
    2.  What is the Pooled Capacity?

  • Virus Check before documents upload in cFolders

    Hi All,
Is it possible to perform the auto virus check before putting the documents into the cFolders.
    thanks,
    rajesh.

    Hi,
in cFolders there is no virus scan in the standard, but you can use the virus scan that is integrated into the web application server. It is however only an interface so that you can use existing virus scan software - SAP does not supply the actual scanner software. Please see more in note 797108.

Run fscript distributed and do an unlockworkspace.
    fscript > help unlockworkspace
    UnlockWorkspace <workspaceName> [<workspacePassword>]
Force an unlocking of 'workspaceName'. This will release the repository

  • Updatetask.exe is repeatedly blocked by my virus checker. Forums say it can be malicious. How do I know, and how do I get rid of it?

I use Firefox on Windows 7. Several times an hour and sometimes when I click a link or do something else when browsing I get a dialog box that says updatetask.exe has been blocked. Forums say this can be a Firefox automatic update executable, but that it can carry malicious baggage.
This file or name does not appear in the Control Panel add/remove programs list, so I can't uninstall it. I don't know if it's safe to just search for and delete the file. So, how do I know if it's authenticaly yours or safe, and how do I get rid of it? The virus checker is F-Secure.

AFAIK. updatetask.exe is a malicious file and it is associated with the Ask.com toolbar. But I'm unsure as it is very tricky, because UpdateTask.exe has 29 different versions, varying from illegal to malignant.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br>
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br>
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
