Virus email opened on phone is it safe to use Mac?

Hi everyone,
Whilst away on my honeymoon I was using my husband's HTC phone. I recieved an email from a family member and being half asleep I stupidly opened the suspicious email and the attchment and even logged into my email account again on a bogus site- I know this was incredibly stupid but I just wasn't with it.
Since doing this my brand new hotmail account emailed all my contact list the same email I recieved. I have checked in the sent folder and it only sent these emails out once so far and I have emailed everyone to let them know and since changed my password. My question is do I still have a virus? And is it safe to open this email account on our Mac and my new Macbook air without putting a virus on them?
All responses are very welcome- please help!
Thank you

Changing your password should stop the outgoing mail from your contacts.
It's not a virus but someone did hack your email account. Changing your password on a timely basis can help prevent that.
It should be ok to access your mail account.

  • Can't open firefox4.0.1 in safe mode (using a sony viao laptop)

can't open firefox4.0.1 in safe mode...laptop...........I just bought a new Sony VAIO laptop. Before, when I opened Windows Start Menu, I could right click on the Firefox logo and doing this would give me that option.

    The solution is easy.
Install "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" free edition and use it. This program found malware in your pc. After that clean this malware. Finally instal Firefox again and enyoy it because this installation is correct and clean. Regards.

  • After deleting several email from my phone, it will not update in Mac Mail and shows message: Messages could not be moved to the mailbox "Trash"

Using Outlook account associated with work. Deletes on iPhone, but not in Mac Mail.  I do not have Outlook for Mac.

Does the Outlook account allow you to store deleted mails on server?
Look under trash and see if "Store deleted messages on the server" is checked

  • Re Safe to use macOS X replacement discs on macbook 4,1?bySBV?

    1.  Is it safe to use Mac OS X replacement discs on Macbook 4,1 (make sure is 4 1)?  This macbook is like a child w/o parents.
    2.  Is it true this macbook 4 1 was upgrade to 6MG and that can be downloaded from apple?  sbv.illi

    1. If they are the gray install disks that came with the MacBook. The gray disks are specific to a machine. They only have the drivers and files for the machine that they came with. You have the operating system on disk one and iLife and additional software on disk 2.
Otherwise you'll need to use a retail disk.
    Snow Leopard 10.6
    or Leopard 10.5
    2. The model 4.1 can use 6gb (not mb) of RAM. It's physical chips and not downloadable. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/

. To make sure which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.

  • This morning after an automatic update, I could not access my email on the phone at all. I rebooted.  I checked settings.  No mail app will open.  what kind of update was that?

There was an automatic update to my ios on my phone whjen I checked it this morning.  I hit "download" and it did.  Since then , all my email accounts which I have been accessing with no problem are not accessible on my phone.  I cna;t even open the phone app in settings - nothing.
I hit reset after tring several fixes, but that didn't make a difference.
    What's up?

First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data, but it can clear some glitches after installing new software or apps.
If this does not help, set it up as new device, explained here:
How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • When I open an email on my phone I can only see the header

When I open an email on my phone I can only see the header & subject, not the content of the message

Reset your phone: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release.

i am the first owner of my iphone i erase all data and i am trying to open the phone but its does the same thing like the first photo and i cant find my first apple id because i have deleted the email i used for it because i maked a new one please help

Why do you need to access your email?  To reset the password?
If you're trying to change the password, you don't need to go to your email.  If you know the answers to your security questions, you can reset it without using an email, as explained in the first section of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5787.  If you don't, you can contact Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password.

  • Moved and cany get my desk top email to open. Phone is ok. How do I reset?

I've moved from seattle to reno and have new internet. I tried to open my email and it won't open. Keeps asking for my password. I put it in and it still does not work? I getting the emails on my phone ok but not my desktop. What to do?

Because you moved you have changed your I.S.P (internet service provider) the account settings are not the same as they were in Seattle. You have to change the account settings to the new setting that should have been given to you by your new ISP.
Open Thunderbird>Tools>Account Settings enter the pop server name and your new password and you should be good to go

  • I would like to know is it safe to use my ipad without virus software installed on it

I would lime to know,is it safe to use my ipad to bank and shop without any virus software installed on it.

There is no real functioning  Antivirus for iPad because currently there are no viruses that can affect an iPad.
The closed nature of the operating system prevents the Antivirus from installing and running itself, as well as preventing any Antivirus from being able to scan the iPad's file system in search of a virus.
So in short, usage of the iPAd is as safe as you make it.
Like has been said, don't  bank in open networks, don't click on links in emails you don't recognize, don't browse sites that look shady or untrustworthy, etc...

  • XServe Mail Server not receiving emails from our phone system

    Hi everyone,
Since late last year, staff haven't been receiving email notificiations to their work email (hosted by a 10.5.8 Xserve) of voice mail received by our 3COM NBX Phone System. However, if they provide any other email account, such as a Gmail account, they receive the email fine.
Our firewall providers have confirmed that there is nothing stopping the emails going in and out on their end. I've checked the server mail logs and can't find anything of value.
According to a forum thread, this is how our mail system sends an off-site notification via email:
1 - NCP performs an MX record lookup using DNS server IP information to return a valid TCP/IP address for each message being sent
2 - NCP acts as an MTA (Message Transfer Agent) - will directly contact each destination mail server for local delivery
3 - NCP establishes a TCP socket to the resolved TCP/IP address on SMTP port 25
4 - NCP must be able to open a TCP session to the resolved IP address of each destination email server
5 - Each destination server the NBX is sending email to may be configured for a rule base and based on certain criteria my reject an email or attachment that other email servers accept.
I'd appreciate any help you can provide.
    Thankyou,
    Rhys

I have no way of issuing that command from the "netSet".
Below is the link I found of the self service article on troubleshooting offsite notifications:
    http://knowledge.3com.com/service/main.jsp;jsessionid=5CC7B2440667382AC7190A9665 9AC61D.selfservice1?t=solutionTab&ft=searchTab&ps=solutionPanels&locale=enUS&_dyncharset=UTF-8&curResURL=%2Fservice%2Fmain.jsp%3Bjsessionid%3D5CC7B2440667 382AC7190A96659AC61D.selfservice1%3FSearchButton%3DFind%26_dyncharset%3DUTF-8%26 locale%3DenUS%26t%3DsearchTab%26useFocusTopic%3Dtrue%26focusTopic%3D9029739%26searchstring% 3DNBX%252520-%252520Is%252520NAT%252520Supported%253f%26sfield%3D%26dosearch%3Dt rue%26pn%3D4&solutionId=1802&isSrch=Yes
I've tested the internal settings, the dig as we've established, and I've checked the server logs - they don't seem to show anything relating to the nbx.
The firewall has port 25 open to our mail server and phone system only.

  • PDF Attachments in Exchange emails opened in iPad

Would like to know how to consistently make a PDF attachement in an Exchange email shown as an icon; not embedded text in the message body.  We use iPad to open PDF attachments in emails sent from multiple employees.  These attachments are all originally made in Word (Office 2010) on desktops, saved and sent in PDF, and opened in iPad Exchange email accounts.  Some attachments are shown as text embedded in the message body but some others are in an icon at the bottom of the message body.  We would like it to show as an icon and open it with other PDF readers on ipad.  How can we make them to show all in that way?
    Thanks

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • MMS malware email opened on iPhone 4s- help please

I stupidly opened a MMS email attachment, thinking it was a picture email from a number i recognised. I tried to open it in Onedrive (Skydrive) on my iPhone 4S however nothing would display and it saved as a zip file on my Onedrive.
I realised when I checked my emails on my home PC (windows 8) that this was a virus email & I immediately deleted it. I then went to my Onedrive on my laptop & deleted the zip file without opening it, and deleted it from my trash. I have run a full system scan on my PC with McAfee Total Protection and there is nothing reported.
    My questions are:
    - is my iphone 4s infected with anything (i think from reading other discussions probably not, but would like someone to reassure me)
    - is my PC in any way infected, given that I access Onedrive on my PC, but I did not open this attachment, though i did open the email
    many thanks for the info!

    1. No, your iPhone is not going to be infected as long as you have done nothing like jailbreak the iOS...just delete the email message, then reboot the iPhone by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
    2.  If the PC seems clean it probably is.
