Virus in Ovi Player Update?

I have PC Suite v7.1.62.1 running on Windows 7 64 bit SP1. My current version of Ovi Player is 2.1.11020.02. When I try to update it to the new version (v. 2.5.11021), AVG tells me it has detected a threat: "May be infected by unknown virus Win32/DH" (see attached file). The Ovi updater then tells me "Access is denied" while the name on its title bar is 7-Zip (see other attachment).
Is there really a virus, or is AVG being overly sensitive?
Interestingly, I recently had a similar problem when I loaded the beta version of Nokia Suite.

Further to the above... uninstalled Nokia Multimedia Common Components and The OVI Music Player..Ran the AVG and found a Warning related to the OVI Music Player (Ref.Attachment AVG) Then installed the Nokia Music Player without any issue..(Ref.Attachment Nokia Music Player)

  • Ovi Player Download Speed

Since receiving the last Ovi player updates for my PC, it cannot download more than one song at a time even though I can create a download list of as many songs as I like. The download speed also seems to have slowed. Previously I was on ADSL1 and now im on ADSL2.  This seems to have stemmed from the last Ovi Player updates released in which prior to this update I could download as many tracks as I wanted simultaneously.
Nokias response to me was this is due to Windows XP Service Pack 3 which I highly doubt. Has any else had this sort of issue or know of any resolution.
    Thanks.

Understand your problem.. but would suggest you to use the 'Contact Us' tab at the top of this page .. Atleast you can try getting the 7 balance songs that way..( i.e.If you are interested..)..

  • Adobe Flash Player update 11 gave me a virus

The newest adobe flash player update gave my computer a virus that required me doing a system restore and completely removing adobe flash player from my system. It was sending spam emails in different languages and spam videos. It was able to slip through my virus scan in the initial download but was found after I scanned it again when I began having problems. I need flash player to do online school work, but cannot have my computer spammed, infected, and crashing anymore. Is there any way this can be fixed so I can use it without problems. Most people I know who have tried updating it have not been able to because their virus scan wont allow them to do it and it comes up as a dangerous file. Please help

Download Flash Player only from the Adobe.com website, not any dubious 3rd-party download site.
Here are the installers for Windows: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header

  • My Download always fails.Nokia Ovi Player

my download always fails. i can browse Ovi Music but when i click on download and i buy it my download fails.always.
    please help.

    Hi Richcss,
Many thanks for your comments and suggestions.
I last successfully downloaded music (to my home PC) with OVI Player v2.0.50727 on 4 April 2010 when I managed to download 12 songs in one evening. Nothing has changed since then (with regard to my DSL line speed, Internet service Provider, OVI Player version, router firewall settings, anti-virus software etc etc.), except the fact that I cannot download music without getting the frustrating "Download Failed" message.
I have sent my ISP traceroutes from my home router to music.nokia.co.za to see if they can help identify a bottleneck in my DSL connection to the Net which may be the cause of a lengthy timeout (in one or more of the hops) that could result in the failed download. I tried a traceroute to music.nokia.co.za when my home PC connects via 3G, but unfortunately my cellphone provider blocks traceroute calls.
Today, I tried to download songs at work (through a corporate firewall and proxy server) using Nokia Music v1.2.20226. The app wanted to update to the latest OVI Player version which I ignored. I successfully downloaded one new song.
This is the first time I tried downloading a song using my employer's Net connection, as I prefer using my home PC for such "non-work" related tasks. I then upgraded Nokia Music to OVI Player (v2.1.10304), restarted my work PC, configured the proxy settings (corporate proxy) and managed to successfully download a new song. I tried a traceroute to music.nokia.co.za from my work PC, but unfortunately our corporate firewall blocks traceroute calls.
The only conclusion I can draw from these tests is that the fault lies with my Internet Service Provider for my home DSL connection. I will contact them again for advice.

  • Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are

    I get following message:
Adobe® Flash® Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    How can I solve this?

    People,
Listen. This service is, has been and seemingly will be: FREE. So while emotions are running on the hot side of the guage, let's remember; it is FREE. Adobe owes no one anything. Now who's to blame, really? We, the people are to blame. Why? Because everyone has been ok with the fact that one company essentially designed and released a technology for streaming from the net. One company. And almost all of us are using this one company's technology to stream; for FREE.
But now we are not ok with it when, after we are prompted to update, we have the issue of it not working? We all never saw the ridiculously high potential for this one company to screw things up, intentionally or otherwise? What the ramifications, that we are now experiencing, might be? Nah, we just took it for granted that we would continue to be served. Well the serve came, everyone. Mistake or otherwise.
It's like this country [US], up until four-years ago. Everyone was either running around with snow shovels and hefty garbage bags to gather all the money they were making or sailing the seas of expectation and an, 'I am out there to get mine' attitude, and then the sh*t hits the fan and now people are complaining? About the very system until four years ago was spoon feeding them poolside with mai-tai's? While it was crushing everyone else in the known world?
No doubt it seems incredulous that a multi-billion dollar company has an IT department that would include in an update, for their own software, that would be inconducive to working. No doubt. But keep in mind: we are all either using browsers by Apple or MS. Anything happens to these browsers, including a virus or anything else that threatens our use of them and...?
So climb off the haughty, 'I deserve' crap and walk on the solid ground of trying to resolve this issue here at Adobe and around the net. If we were to band together, as the 99%, we could solve this, no problem. But then that holds true with resolving this fictitious economic downturn nonsense, that we solidly take for truth at face value, because our mainstream media says so. But no other species on this rock flying through space would know what the f*ck we were talking about.

  • Having problems installing Ovi player.

This problem would not happen if I did not format my PC.
After format using Vista SP2, I can't install my  Ovi Player but before the format it was fine.
The installation starts normally but until half way the downloading process the status turns to fail and says network error.
    What is the problem ?
I have tried every solution on the internet. From turning off all anti virus programs to deleting files in registry.

  • Ovi Player library

    Hi,
I'm trying (and trying, and trying) to get Ovi Player to work properly. I might be really fu''''ng dumb, but why does my library contain more and more duplicates and non-working songs?
Ok, i get that it's because i've moved around _alot_ of music files, renamed, retagged, and so on and so forth - but why dosn't Ovi Player get it? Is there a big red "UPDATE LIBRARY NOW AND REMOVE OUTDATED STUFF *BEEP BEEP*"-button somewhere that i'm just... not... seeing?
My last not-so-genious move was to manually try to delete all 15000 songs from the library. Which - of course - made the program freeze, steadily chunking away at 40-60% of my cpu (the other 40-50% is ocupated by that nice little useless NokiaMserver.exe thingie)
NokiaMserver.exe. W-T-F-?! If i'm using a good app like, say, Songbird, my laptop goes to it's knees immediately - especially if i'm retagging stuff, or something similar. Seriously, 30-40% cpu? without me running a Nokia app and having no intention of hooking up my phone for the moment?
And... my laptop isn't allt bad, P8400 cpu, 4 gig ram..
I would appreciate a bit of help. :-)
    Thanks!
(and don't get me started on the battery life of my N86, or how often it freezes with the only solution being removing the battery, or the non-working GPS, or one of a kazillion more little annoyances. Yeh, it did indeed have a shutter for the 8mp-camera, but man... why didn't i get that SE w995 anyway.)
    EDIT:
And the Album Art fetcher/reader... is pretty damn arbitrary.
"Oh, you've got a cover for that album! Hey, do you want me to send that yo the phone along with the album? Hm, i dunno... maybe!   .... mkay?"
"Hey, i can fetch a cover for those albums/songs/whatever... wantmetowantmetowantmeto? Ok! Here's a picture for you! Do you like it? Whaddyamean 'its the wrong picture'? Yeh, yeh, i know, it's the same picture all over the place, for dozens of different albums, and not one right, but you know... It IS a picture after all, take what you can get."

depends how knackered your file system is & how much music you have, as to whether it'll be quick/easy, but one thing that does seem to work is if you make sure that your 'music folder location' in ovi player is correct & then delete the albums etc with duplicates in them from inside ovi player, choosing delete from 'my music collection only'. the album will then disappear from ovi player, but when you close & restart ovi player it will rebuild its lists based on whatever is actually in your music folder location - if there's only one album, it will now only reimport that album with no duplicates etc
wouldn't advise deleting too many at one time though, since ovi will have to reimport a lot of tracks when you restart it - & ovi doesn't seem to be the most stable application at the best of times . . .

  • Downloading Flash Player-update

I tried to download the Flash Player-update, but i stopped on 30%. I tried several times, but it always stopped at 30% with the "downloading"-status under the progression-bar. I tried to uninstall Flash Player, and do a clean install, but it stopped at 30 % again! What to do?

    Hi,
Are you using anti-virus software, if so, if you stop/exit the anti-virus software, does the installation proceed?
If not, or if the installation still does not proceed after stopping the anti-virus software, please try the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Macpage, in the 'Still having problems' section.

I had a same kind of problem ( Ovi Player did not start ) but this trick helped me:
This is lifted directly out of the Nokia Search and Solve FAQ database.....
Close Ovi Music Player and delete the MDataStore.db3 file:
    Vista C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
    XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
Both of these locations are in hidden folders.  So, to view them users will need to:
XP: Open Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders
Vista: Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders

  • Problem with the new OVI player - no access to com...

Yesterday i've done the forced update to the new OVI player - now for the second time. Two weeks ago i deinstalled the new player and returned to the old Nokia Player by reinstalling, but this doesn´t work any more. This time i have the same problem. The new player seems to run fine - much faster, but when i try to download (comes with music) a song the download doesn´t start. The symbol of the button is changing to the the dots but nothing happens. My account is ok, because download of songs with XpressMusic 5800 is possible.
I tried already a lot of things and now i'm going now a bit mad. Reinstalling the Ovi Player, reinstalling the whole Ovi Suite, reinstalling .NET Framework, checking and updating all OS components - I am using still Windows XP.
Is there anybody out there who has the same problem or anybody of the software developers that can help?

    Hi everyone,
I have encountered this issue before and at long last finally got a resolution. After following the steps provided to me, I was finally able to run Ovi Player, see the buttons sign in, comes with music and join now and login to my account. I would like to share to you guys the steps I followed. Please see below:

    4.             Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    ·               After uninstalling the programs, kindly follow these steps:

    a.                   Open a windows explorer window (for example, My Computer or My Documents).
    b.                  Go to Tools - Folder options…
    c.                   On View tab, go to Advanced Settings.
    d.                  Ensure that “Show Hidden files and folders” is selected.

  • Virus Warning on Flash update

    Hi
I keep getting a virus warning when I try to DL your flash update (from adobe site). I am trying to get the windows version for XP. This has been going on a couple weeks now and I have not installed it. I saw others have had virus warnings with Flash after installing.
NOD says it is a trojan possibly similar to the win32 genetik

Always download Flash Player updates only from the original Adobe or Macromedia site!
Always download Windows updates only from the original Microsoft site!
This goes for all software: always download software updates only from the original manufacturer's site!
I always download from the site both adobe and microsoft and that darn virus got me too! So it was not their fault
this one is a doozy. It is a dropper type trojan. I even wiped my computer and it found a way within a week to re-activate
itself. It had embed invisable code when it arrived so don't know if that had anything to do with it. It also opened a second portal
and changed the registry. The only thing that killed that picking sorry bisket eater was that microsoft antimalware tool. The first
go round I couldn't even download that for I was locked out. It had disabled javascript and removed my start button even and
was unable to get system restore to work.. After wiping my computer finally I was able to download the microsoft anti-malware
tool and finish it off for it was still lurking in my system. It took me a month of battling that sorry virus to kill it out of my entire system.
It was ALIVE I TELL YA.,Thank God for Microsoft! I had good virus protection and a firewall and it got me anyways so it helps to also
    know what to do.

  • I wish to make a complaint re Latest Flash Player Update

The latest Flash Player update installed Chrome on my PC without asking if I wanted it and without my consent.  This is illegal in Australia and likely other countries too (eg USA).

    Michael,
First, the update I witnessed installed McAfee Security Scan, NOT Google toolbar. But you're absolutely right. Installing it with no "opt out" is far less than what I would call a "good practice". That's the reason I DO update all my software, but I do it "manually". I never suggested "not upgrading" or not updating, but rather recommended what I do myself. I have always had a serious problem with people who tell me to do something they would never consider doing, so I don't make a habit of it myself. Yesterday alone I updated AIR and Flash Player on four systems... manually.
I doubt I'll be able to restore your trust in Adobe. ONLY YOU can do that.  As to your complaint, you originally indicated that said behavior was "illegal" and I believe I did a pretty darn good job of explaining why it isn't, because you click the "update" button, regardless of the reason, and your doing so (again, regardless of the reason) implies (if not proves), consent on your part. That's a legal point, even though it doesn't address trust or ethics at all.
When I was at Intuit, we reviewed two separate lawsuits during training on EULA compliance, one was a "Class action" filed by a state Attorney General, alleging that Intuit had installed what amounted to a "rootkit" (Google C-Dilla for more info) on potentially millions of systems without user consent, for the implementation of "anti-piracy" software in TurboTax in 2002. I went to work there in 2003 and I personally issued more than 300 replacement CD-Rs (along with apology letters) that didn't have the C-Dilla on them.
While the court ruled that the software itself caused many problems for the people who were involved in the suit, and that Intuit was liable for damages related to the repair or replacement of affected systems, the ruling magistrate was VERY CLEAR in pointing out that in installing the original software, and "accepting the end user licesne agreement", whether they actually read the whole thing (or any of it at all) beforehand, indicated their consent to install any and all software associated with such agreement. Therefore, the liability was severely limited, and NO puntiive damages could be applied. Several hundred people got free repairs and a few even got new computers, but Intuit made the decision not to use C-Dilla afterward; it was never ordered by the court.
TurboTax is paid software, and Flash Player is free, and C-Dilla was proven to be far more destructive than McAfee, Norton or Google bundled software (it rendered many systems useless), but the principle established by the court was that no one is forced to use TurboTax, and therefore not all of the liability could fall on the developer. Similarly, no one is forced to use Flash Player, or Adobe Reader. That hardly justifies installing third party apps in an update, with no opt out, but it still requires a user initiation to install a "bundled" update, and there ARE options to avoid the bundled software, which are posted in these forums DOZENS of times daily.
As I pointed out, I know of at least one detailed report that was submitted regarding this. It was my intention in reporting it, that someone would make changes that allow users to opt out of unwanted installs when all they're trying to do is update software they see as necessary to get full use and/or enjoyment out of their personal or work computer. Obviously that hasn't happened. I'm not endorsing the practice, or making excuses for it. I already made my position clear on "unwanted" software.
However, I also pointed out that the practice of "bundling software" is industry wide and it ISN'T going to end anytime in the foreseeable future, hence the links I provided and the advice to manually update. Believe me, I fully understand your frustration and I'm on your side. I have to be realistic, though. I have systems with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1. One of the Win 8 systems is my laptop I use when meeting with clients. I can't afford it to be down because of an anti-virus conflict, and I refuse to use Google Chrome on it because of the massive resource consumption of Google's excuse for a browser. But I've had to make changes in the way I do things to avoid it, because I'm not going to force a company the size of Adobe to change (as my unheeded report has proven).
I'm a freelance web designer, not an employee here. Thanks to the U.S. economy, I have a lot of time to help people out here, so I do. I'm an end user like you, only I have several years of software development and troubleshooting experience. I don't particularly enjoy answering the "why did they install (insert bundled software name here) on my system?" questions. Usually there's no convincing the original poster and subsequent posters that there IS a way around it. Most of them want their computers and ALL software companies to do everything for them, and do it without ever inconveniencing them with knowing it was done, and THEN they complain when something IS installed without their explicit approval. That's a hard case to argue.
Maybe (I'm not holding my breath) enough complaints like yours will eventually persuade Adobe to NOT install bundled apps with updates, and no way to say no to it. Meantime, I do things the long way because I have to, to keep my systems running like I want them

Well, unlike a lot of people I succeeded to update the Nokia Ovi Player to Nokia Music Player. The thing is, it's not running anymore. After the update I can't run it. It keeps saying that "The NokiaMusicPlayer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". So, any thoughts? Thanks

(or something like that), and after that the Nokia Music Player worked. Important thing: it happened after I go to the Nokia Music Store website. Coincidence or not...good luck!
