  • Syncing Apps from Iphone to Itunes and vice versa, quick question.

Hello, so I had a small question to ask about transferring apps from both the iphone to itunes.
Basically, I downloaded an app from the app store ON my iphone.
I've made a lot of progress and have a lot of data in this app.
The(Sync app) box was never checked on my itunes, so I transferred my purchases from my iphone to my itunes, and now i've downloaded a few more apps (over 20mb) ON itunes that I want to put on my iphone.
Thing is, when I click "sync apps" it gives me a warning saying something along the lines of "Apps in itunes will replace all in iphone, including data"
Now, i've already transferred my purchases, so all the apps from my phone are on itunes, but if I sync, will I lose the DATA in my apps on my iphone? Or will the data remain in those apps?
Basically, will syncing my apps replace my settings/data/progress of the apps I have on my iphone?

There is no data in the apps themselves. Your app data is stored in the backup file iTunes creates. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
From Page 179 of http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iphone_userguide.pdf, "You can reinstall an app and restore its data as long as you backed up iPhone with iTunes on your computer. (If you try to delete an app that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.) To retrieve the app data, you must restore iPhone from a backup containing the data."
So, make a backup before you click the "Sync apps button. Then, you may have to restore your phone from that backup to reload the data.

  • Hi guys. Just a quick question. My wife has a Mac Book Pro and when she is browsing the web she can use a two fingered gesture to go back to her previous page (by swiping from right to left). Is there any way to set that up on my iPad Mini. Many thanks.

Not in the Safari browser she can't. That is not supported on the iPad. There are other mobile browsers that do have that functionality - one is iCab Mobile.

  • My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?

My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?
I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?
    Thank you all,
    Fahmid

iCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data.  However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup.  Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge.  This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup.

  • Itunes library back up question?

Hello, I have a question about my Itunes library. I went and ripped all of my CD's through Itunes. I was wondering if there was anyway I could get those ripped files and save them to my PC. I have my Itunes library backed up, but was wondering if this was possible.
    Thanks!

How are you backing up the library? Done properly it should capture all of the media also. See Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy.

  • Quick Question: MobileMe and Info Tab in iTunes

    Hi All
I'm new to the iPhone, but use a Macbook and MobileMe.
    My very quick question is...
Should I be using the settings on the phone to sync to MobileMe while leaving the iTunes Info Tab settings unselected?
    Hope that makes sense.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You can no longer sync contacts with iTunes 11.1.4 with mavericks OS X

  • Hi. Quick question I am working with Panasonic GH3 footage and it is playing back in slow motion?

Hi. Quick question I am working with Panasonic GH3 footage shot using .MOV wrapper with their IPB 50mbps and All-Intra 72MBPS codecs and they are playing back in slow motion in Sg CC. The footage works fine in PP CC and I have no clue on how to fix it. Is this a bug or do I a have a setting wrong some place?

Yes it turns red this is silly PP and AE have no problem with playback for these codecs. So it is indeed Sg not handling the codec correctly and not my system?
What if I transcoded it to something else other than the previous what would you reccommend?
I was going to transcode to ProRes but 5DtoRGB does not work on Windows with GH3 codecs.
What is the correct time warp seting under clip properties? I screwed with it and forgot the default setting.
Is there a way to reset Sg back to defaults settings globaly. I tried to many settings trying to fix the playback and may have left something in the wrong state.
    Thanks...

  • Quick question!!  Is it mandatory that I set up my DSL through the time capsule? I'd like to leave my current modem from my provider as the primary unit for networking.  So in other words can I just set up the time capsule as a back-up device for now and

Quick question!!  Is it mandatory that I set up my time capsule as my DSL modem?  Based on the location of my iMAC right now it would be better to just leave the modem provided by my internet provider in place.  I really just want to use the time capsule as a back-up storage device for now and connnect the ethernet cable from my ISP at a later date.

Generally it is easier to bridge the TC and plug it into the router.. it then lives on the network.. it is after all, a network drive.. and you can access it via your existing connection whether wireless or wired to the existing modem.
If you really want a totally stand alone setup please tell me how you are presently accessing internet on the Mac you want to backup on the TC.

  • Ask your question.I'm trying to upgrade my OS in my iPhone. In iTunes, I backed everything up, then hit upgrade. All I get is This version of iTunes is the current version. How do I override that and download OS 5.0?

    You cannot override it.
What version of itunes do you have?
You need itunes 10.1 or higher to get ios 4.2.1 which is the latest available for the iphone 3G.

  • Itunes Organisation - Migrating to edit question.

I have a pretty big iTunes library and, in considering an iPod classic purchase, I've decided I should go through everything and tidy up my library to hopefully get more out of my collection.
My question is, my itunes library is on my iMac and that syncs all devices that I have and I want that to remain the case. Being such a big task, I was wondering if i could copy my music from my iMac (allowing me to carry on using the imac for syncing etc) and put it on my MacBook so that I can edit my tracks and tidy up my library on that. Being more portable i think there is more chance of me completing my task quicker. The idea being that once complete, I copy the music back across, overwriting what's there with the new, fully tagged music.
To do this, what files and folders do i need to copy across to edit and will i be able to put things back without causing any problems with synced devices or any other linked items.

provided there's enough space on the MBP, i would copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) to the MBP. this will essentially overwrite the iTunes folder in place on the MBP but will ensure you get the exact same library you know from the iMac and your mobile devices should recognize the library as the one they sync to.
when you finished your task, reverse the process, i.e. copy the iTunes folder back (overwriting the old iTunes folder).

  • Two quick questions about Library after moving beginning on a new computer

    Hi there,
I just moved from Windows to Mac, meaning I had to move my iTunes library from the old PC to my new MBA.
Just a couple of quick questions.
    1. When I started iTunes on my new Mac, in the preferences I directed the media folder to the folder with all my itunes music/podcasts etc, and then I imported the Library XML file.  Is this incorrect? Should I have imported a different file? Should I have used the itl file instead?
If so, should I delete the library and start again?  (if this is the case, please suggest the best way of doing this without affecting my media)
    - a kind of sub-question to this one:  some of the media files arent showing up in the iTunes library, but they are in the media folder on the ext HDD.  Is there a way I can find out which ones havent been recognized by iTunes?  Whats the best way of getting them in to my library?
    2. Pretty much half of my podcasts have not been loaded in the new iTunes.  The ones that havent were ones that I subscribed to on my iPhone, whereas the ones that show up in iTunes were ones I downloaded from iTunes.  When I connect my iPhone and sync it with iTunes, will those podcasts show up in iTunes?  Or is there a risk that they will be deleted from my iPhone?
    Cheers,

The .xml is lacking some information such as ratings, date added, and play count.  Using the .itl includes this information but cannot be imported using the method you did.
A complete library is everything in the iTunes folder.  By using the method you did you left the artwork behind in the artwork folder on the other machine.
Selecting the media folder in preferences does not get iTunes to recognize the media.  All it does is tell iTunes to start storing new media in that location.
Using the method I outlined nothing will be missed (with the exception of WMA) because you aren't rebuilding your library, you are using the one that already exists.
You don't have to re-copy everything as long as you get the stuff you missed and re-assemble it all as it was before except not on the Mac.

  • ITunes on back up disc, not being recognized by iTunes!!!

Can anyone tell me after having to re-image computer, re-install iTunes, why backed-up songs won't import into iTunes??? Also, the PC is not recognizing iPod either after having to re-image. Please help???
    Thank you!!!
    - Not so savy iTunes Girl

Can't answer your question - but think I can offer a fix!
Copy your backed up files to a folder on your computer and then in iTunes go to "File" and "Add folder to library"
Still don't know why backup disc is not recognised though!

  • Itune library back up plan

Sorry if this a repeated question but here goes. I have 3 internal drives + 1 external drive and need to back up all my CD collections. What's a good itunes library back up plan? Can I also play my itunes on my home stereo via some wire connections?  TIA

A backup strategy means having at least two copies of everything.  Since you already have one copy on your CDs themselves, you only really need  one more copy.  Without more specifics on the drives (capacity, space used, other uses), you could use any of the drives, with my preference going to the external.
I backed up my CDs on a hard drive, but since I don't really need that copy unless something happens to an original, I put them on a bare drive (one without an enclosure) which I keep in a safe place.  For daily use I put a mp3 copy on my computer.  MP3 for saving space, but a MP3 isn't a backup since it isn't the quality of the original.

  • I had all my iTunes music backed up onto a hard drive; but the hard drive was stolen along with all the files I backed up onto it. However, the songs I had in iTunes still show up (I just can't play them.) Would it let me get them back?

I had all my iTunes music backed up onto a hard drive; but the hard drive was stolen along with all the files I backed up onto it. However, the songs I had in iTunes still show up (I just can't play them.) If I were to use iCloud, would it still take those songs and let me listen to them (and maybe re-download them?) Or am I out of luck?

Open iTunes, go to the iTunes Store, and then go to Purchased on the right hand side under Music Quick Links.
You can re-download all the songs, apps, or books you have previously purchased.
I'm not sure if this is a requirement, but just in case, make sure you download the latest version of iTunes (v10.3) too.

  • Hi . please help me to back my security question i have in my account 25$ i dont know if my account are acctive or unacctive please help me

hi . please help me to back my security question i have in my account 25$ i dont know if my account are acctive or unacctive please help me i dont know what i do

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
