Visa: lack of privileges under WIN XP, Error: 42, Constant0042, VI_ERROR_INV_CONTEXT, 0xBFFF002A

Hello,
do someone know how to work with VISA devices as an
"normal user" (no administrative rights).
My software works fine with administrative rights under
Windows XP. But with "normal rights" the VI "VISA Find Resource"
finds no (zero - nada - nischt) device.
The error code is "42", the file "visainfo.ini" (LabView6.0.1),
tells me, that this is the error flag: VI_ERROR_INV_CONTEXT.
Do someone know how to set the rights properly, so that a normal
user can run my application?
For the people with LabView < v7.0 I publish here a screen shot
of my code to find the local devices.
Please can me tell someone how to set the rights for VISA instruments
like COM-Ports?

I failed to find it myself, perhaps you can add
the error-message, that you receive,
when you get in trouble with visa-ports
as normal user.

I have recently upgraded to Win 8. When installing iTunes the following error shows:
"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT.type="win32",version"8.0.50727.4053.publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b 9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64". Please refer to Help and Support for more information HRESULT:0x80073715.
I am running the ITunes x64 install. I have installed the V++ redistributable with no change in result.
I have subsequently downloaded and manually installed via the Apple Software update program iTunes. However this does not allow my iPad to be connected as it is not the x64 version.

After spending an entire day on this issue, I figured out something that worked. After installing Windows 8 (64-bit) then Visual Studio 2012 (or 2013) then the latest 64-bit iTunes app, I got the 0x80073715 error.
What finally worked for me was:
1) Get all the Windows updates and hotfixes - especially the ones for Visual Studio.
2) Go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14431 and download the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update"
3) Only install vcredist_x64.exe.
After running these steps, I was able to completely install iTunes on my Windows 8 64-bit instance.

[NOOB warning] Getting Java to install under wine

Having junked windows, I find myself in need of java under wine, but cannot get any version recognized. I have Fedora Core 5, wine-0.9.24, and mail from the Irish Revenue to read, which needs java to log in. I have jre1.5.0_09 showing in the wine uninstaller, and j2se-1.42_01. The about:plugins in Seamonkey (under wine) shows java capability. But when I try to install the Irish Revenue software, or run java executables, it just spews errors and dies

IAClasses.zip is not unarchived.
Trying to log in without the software shows that the java engine is not recognized :-). The software seems to be a java install, with it's own java engine creating a unique directory each time and using that engine to run the install. All this is way over my head. Any ideas for me?

SAP Netweaver Trial Version under Win 7

Dear Support - Team,
I have a new laptop installed with Win 7 Home Premium 32bit version.
Now i wanted install the trial version from DVD (it was an additional to the book " ABAP Objects in SAP Netweaver).
At first the installer tried to start and needed an addon from MicroSoft and wanted a Reboot of my system,
and then I had to start the setup.exe again.
This was 3 times again.
Now when i try again to install the version 7.0 from dvd, i get the error message:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:run
Exception in the read:"main"
Now i have tried it again and i get the error:
the installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer with the console or silent flag.
The graphical mode is 1366 to 768.
What i do wrong?
Do i need the version 7.01 or something else?
Or doesn't run the system under win 7?
I would be very pleased to you, when i get some answers or tipps to solve this problem and i can start my education in programming sap!!

Additional to the apply before:
Now i have installed the Java SE Development Kit 1.4.2_19.
But the error exist again.
A friend said, it could be a error in my graphical installation: i have to choice the agp slot for my graphic card.
but this seems to difficult.
In the system requirements doesn't stand something to this point.
At the moment i'm downloading the version 7.01 but it is a long way because i don't have a great bit rate in my dsl.
When you have another idea i would be very pleased.

Airport Utility SW rel. 5.5 does not recognize AE under WIN 7

Hi everybody,
I have an issue using AE utility SW under WIN 7. Yesterday I bought an Airport Extreme. Connecting it in my network is working fine. AE is coming up and will stay with flashing amber. Internet connection is fine, so I can connect to the web. I did install Airport utility SW rel 5.5 from disk. It runs fine, entry page shows me AE with MAC address. Trying to connect and start configuration it will show window `searching for apple mobile devices` and will end with error message Code -4 - no network connection. I tried is with antivirus disabled, FW off, still not able to start configuration?
Any help highly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Just one more: did install AE utility SW also on a Win XP workstation, same issue, AE utility SW does not recognice AE device. I´m starting to believe the HW is maybe root cause.

Modelsim PE Student Edition under Wine

Hi all,
I've been trying to run Modelsim (free student edition is windows only) under Wine with no success. The program installs with no errors but does not start. The problem is that some googling shows that it should be trivially installable/usable under Wine and it actually does work as expected under Xubuntu 14.04 (install, run, done).
When I run the program via GUI, nothing seems to happen but the desktop GUI starts acting funny -- mostly the cursor disappearing under dialogs and windows.
When running from the terminal, I get the following:

Some FPGA targets don´t support SIMULATION EXPORT including sbRIO. There isn´t a road map for new releases on LabVIEW with this extended feature .

Fixed sound issues under wine, but would like to know how

I managed to get sound working under wine. I have no idea how, but I did. Ill explain and see if anyone can make sense of it.
So I initially set up kmix to where my primary device was my soundblaster card. I would continuously get errors like "creative blah did not work, switching to 'HD audio generic'.
I would not get system notification sounds but things like youtube and movies would. I had no luck with wine. I then started experimenting with the preferred devices and set the generic one to primary. The sound would work, but my problem was reversed. I would get notification sounds but no youtube or media audio. I then tried moving "default" up to preferred, only to get the same result. Neither gave me any sound in games under wine --not to mention the horrible system hangups when using "HD audio generic" and "default"
So I decided I prefer media audio over notification audio and went back to my original configuration. The result was that I still got system notifications but no media audio. At this point, I became very confused and started experimenting with changing the sound profiles. Any sort of chage at all would create a "dummy device" as playback out of my creative card. About 15 reboots later and luck? maybe, I got it to at least give me notification audio. I was stumped. I also noticed that the hangups were returning.
After exhausting all the options, I was like "oh well better move the HD audio Generic back up" and see what happens. Reboot. Somehow, I got media audio AND wine sound worked as well as the system hangups stopping.
I have no idea. Anyone have a clue?
Im glad its working, but im not going actually going to learn anything unless i figure out what happened.

Update: Ive found at least a modicum of consistency here. If I try to change anything in the preferences at all once I get wine audio working, it will stop working.
Thus far, here are my options..I can have
System Notification audio working and nothing else
System notification audio and media audio working, but no wine
Media Audio and Wine Audio working, but no system notification audio
But not all three
If I change one preference, wine audio on its own will stop working, or wine audio AND media audio will quit working.
If I change it back to the settings which allow wine audio and media audio to work, it usually will not. It will however work, consistently after enough reboots...2-10.
Any ideas?

Cannot run Source games under Wine

Hello, I remember when I used ubuntu I had the ability to run Source games (although they looked... weird, I couldn't place my finger on it) under wine, however I have yet to get any source games to run. When I try to run them the text comes out all messed up, and the textures are screwed up beyond belief.

i have not tried team fortress, in a few days when the month rolls over and i get my broadband speed back i can try installing it. I have only minor problems running left4dead and halflife2 under the latest wine. but i cannot get the games to run if i install playonlinux. maybe theres something special you got to do to get playonlinux to work but i prefer to not use it.

EAC under Wine

After countless hours of frustration I decided to make this post.
I have pestered people in many IRC channels, dug through forums, and exhausted the bug comments at winehq.
These are the steps I have taken to try and make it work. They are a combination of things I saw in the bugzilla stuff on winehq but nothing seems to help.
>I install wine with pacman
>run WINEARCH=win32 winecfg
>mount a cdrom to /media/cd
>in the 'drives' tab of winecfg I path to /media/cd
I then click the 'Show Advanced' button and select CD as the type
>I make ~/.wine/dosdevices/d: a symlink to /dev/sr0 (my optical drive)
> I make sure my user owns /media/cd and /dev/sr0
>open the EAC install exe with wine
>run regsvr32 sql* in the EAC dir
>run EAC.exe with wine
>Set the interface to the native win32
>close and reopen EAC
at this point I get EAC to open but it is frozen. There is no cursor, I can't click, and hot keys don't work. It would seem that there might be another dll that is not getting registered. Here is a pastebin of what it looks like when I run EAC.

I am convinced this has something to do with either an unregistered dll or a problem in how my drives are set up in winecfg and the ~/.wine/dosdevices dir

hmmm, the latest eac runs fine for me under wine on my arch64 system (multilib libraries installed of course) under kde; I'm ripping a cd right now as a matter of fact. I never mounted my audio cd's when I ripped them though.
I think I set my cd drives for autodetect in wine's config gui, ran the eac install and followed the blowfish guide for setting up my drives and compression options. Sorry that I cannot be more of a help

KT3 sudden reboot under WIN XP

I just finished building my machine:
But it has a problem. I installed two OS, this machine can work very well under WIN ME. But under WIN XP, it used to reboot suddenly when I was working on it. I have tried to change all the drivers (VIA 4 in 1, Video driver). But there is no any change. What can I do?

I used to have a similar problem with my ASUS-board and Win2k (Reason why I bought my KT3 Ultra ). Did it say something like STOP ERROR 0005a ??
That usually happens with some dodgy device driver or card that doesn't like interrupt sharing: on the ASUS it was the Soundblaster Live!. Browsing in Internet Explorer would instantly BSOD my machine. After pulling the Soundblaster out everything works OK now (after driving me crazy for about a year ;( .
So I'd suggest you pull out all cards and disable internal stuff you don't need immediately.
Try to do a clean install of XP and see if it is working stable and then try to add things one by one.
Also you can see in the device manager / view by connection what devices are sharing IRQ's. Maybe something wrong there?
Try to put cards in other slots: AGP and slot1 share an interrupt, so do slot 2 and slot 5. Slot 3 shares with USB3 and Slot 4 shares with RAID.

"You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" error message on iTunes startup?

So I cleaned up my Macbook recently, and now I am fearing that I may have deleted something important.
Whenever I start up iTunes, I am met with the "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" error message. I have read forums that advised editing the Get Info page for the iTunes library to allow all users and staff to "Read/Write", but doing this has not eliminated this message.
Any tracks that were not purchased play normally, but purchased tracks now require additional sign-in that I do not believe was required before. Other than this, iTunes performs normally.
Did I mess something up permanentliy or is there a way to fix this?

The problem was that my account wasn't authorized. But when I tried to authorize it, I got an error message saying that the authorization could not be completed. Thankfully, THAT was something that Apple Support had previously addressed.

I have an Audigy 2 ZS installed on my AMD 64 3500+, Board Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe (BIOS 0). I first installed Win XP, Sound drivers and everything worked fine, then installed SUSE Linux 9.3 (x64-Version), and everything was fine too. After a while, under Win XP the sound card stopped working. I don't remember what I changed in my config, but I couldn't get it working again under XP. Under Linux everything is still ok.
I even reinstalled XP, and still there's no sound. Strange thing is, that the drivers install perfectly and everything on the system seems to be ok, but there's no sound neither on digital-out nor analog.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I tried both, disabling, enabling.
Currently there's a digital sound system with external decoder connected to it (Creative Soundworks DTT3500 Digital), as well a 5. analog Headphone, so all jacks execept line in are connected. Headphones and sound system is ok, I tested that on other PCs.
