Visible Passcode + kids = pain in the butt
To protect the kids from purchasing (among other things) I have my Apple TV set to prompt for a passcode. The problem is that every time I need to enter the code I need to ask all the kids to leave the room.
Is there a way to authenticate without the passcode being visible?
I also have an iPhone so if there is a way to do this via the Remote app on the iPhone that would also be good.

yes but only for people who have an iphone or ipod touch. it's unlikely that time would be spent on a solution that would only be applicable for appletv owners who also have an iphone/ipod touch.

I can't be the only person who has this problem with iCal- when a month ends on a Saturday I can't drag events into the next month and instead have to cut and paste - a real pain in the butt. I thought there was something called "scroll" but I can't find that.
Yeah that works, but, it involves a click on the event, a click on edit, a click on the date, keystrokes, plus, since you can't see the next month you have to have a calendar in front of you so as to put it to the right date. It's easier just to cut it and advance the month and paste it, once you are in the right month you can move it around helter skelter willy nilly no problems. Although now that you mention it I will try it, maybe it is easier than cut and paste as I don't really care about the date, as long as it gets moved into the right month I can drag it around all I want.

The following will result in complete loss of history if it comes down to deleting places.sqlite, so rename files rather than deleting. With Firefox down.
Of course you have backups of your profile you could replace rename and
replace those files instead.

I have tried multiple times to install CC and muse only getting blank creative cloud screen (no error and in serious pain in the butt to uninstall) PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Adobe Air is a huge pain in the butt
Updated my Flash to CS5 a week ago, then upgraded to PS CS5 a day or two ago. The programs run great. BUT whenever I try to use any of my Adobe program's Help files under the Help menu, Adobe Air tries to launch and then gives me an error message "Adobe Air This installation of this application is damaged. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance."
I tried both. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled Adobe Air several times with no change. Then I called Adobe tech support and spent a total of an hour on the phone while the tech had me reinstall Air again, then reinstall Photoshop. When I still got the same error message he basically sent me to a link to download an adobe product 'Cleaner" to run, gave me a case number and hightailed it off the phone.
The Cleaner tells me it wants to uninstall any or all of Adobe products (none of which are AIR). ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Arggh!
I have so many other support products installed for AE, PS, etc. that this would take hours.
If you are reading this and you are an Adobe techie, please tell me there is a better solution.
Again, all I need are my Help files to launch when I select them from the adobe program.Here is the Adobe AIR (filter) System Log:

Pop-up saga & other pains in the butt
Hi everyone,
Am a total novice to web design, and have just concocted my
first site...not without some headaches though.
PLEASE pretty please will those of you more experienced be
able to shed some light on these few irritations:
(BTW I'm using Dreamweaver and Fireworks, both version 8)

1. I created a menu in FW (seemingly not the best way to do
it, having read previous threads...but I'm stuck with it for now!!)
and the pop-up menu ('Applications') previews functionally in
FW...but then when I insert it into DW it seems to go haywire and
the pop-up is really fast, so fast that you can't even click on the
sub-menus! Is it something simple that I am overlooking?
2. For some reason the body text is appearing in bold, but I
have set it to plain old Arial in Page Properties...I've tried it
on several browsers and it still shows as bold...any particular
reason why this is happening?
3. Instead of 'floating' on a white background, I would like
the website to sit within a light grey background...just like this
one:

Can someone kindly explain how I may do this?
4. And finally: Obviously, I have simply delved into the
programs with only rudimentary instruction. At this stage what is

KatThe DW / FWs popup menus do not play nice with DW templates.
You say you are stuck with this menu - can't you seriously
rethink this -
it's already biting you, you may as well change it now before
you go any
further.
2. The bold text is due to the fact that you are using a
table header <th>
which automatically creates bold text. Move the text from the
<th> to the
<td> . The <th> is introduced because you must
have had it checked in the
dialogue box when you created the table.
3. The background for your document is not set to grey... try
this:
body {
background-color: #666; /* change the grey as needed */
4. Quite a few errors in your html code - which certainly
don't help the
correct rendering of your page...

No more details than what I stated. FF won't ask to store my pw for a site where I once had a pw stored. I had to change it so I deleted it in the tools area and thought it would prompt me the next time but it didn't and hasn't for months...
Also make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

Massive Pain In The Butt Export Issue... Please help !!
Hi all,
I have a problem that I haven't seen before, and I can't seem to figure out the solution. Here's the scenario:
I have a 1.5 hour speech that was shot on two HDV camera's. For some reason (let's call it stupidity) one of the camera operators decided to start and stop the recording a couple times during the speech, and of course I would like to do a multi-cam edit on this footage. So, for cam 1, I have two files (tape 1, and tape 2), then for cam 2 I have 9 files (tape 1 and tape 2, plus the start stop recording). In addition to the video footage, I also have a wav audio file that is the full speech start to finish.
What I've done is created two sequences; one for cam 1 and one for cam 2. I've taken the video from cam1 and lined it up with the audio from the wav file, then exported it to its own file so I have one video file that has all of the video and audio from cam1. Then I did the same thing for cam 2. Now, in theory I should be able to do an easy multi cam because I have two video files to work with (cam1 and cam2) that have the exact same in point / timecode.
Its cam 2 that is creating the problem.... for some reason, when I export the file for cam 2, the audio goes out of sync... the final export is actually 18 frames shorter than the sequence. These 18 frames are what is causing the audio to go out of sync....
It doesn't make any sense to me, and I've tried all I can think of to try and fix the problem.... any suggestions on what would cause a sequence export to current setting quicktime file to do this (I've tried both self contained and regular).

BlueWhere did this wav file come from? Is it sampled at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz? If you sync the wav file with cam 2 audio, then view the audio waveforms, are you able to pinpoint where the sync change happens?

Replaced my hard drive now Itunes tells me I have more computers that authorized.
I cannot deauthorize this computer as it is the one I use all the time and two of the others are long gone.

Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is unable to complete the repair you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer.

I have spent the day or so with a new version of XP. I have had a plethora of problems.
1. My home pc was a new XP Home machine updated to XP professional. I think I have reinstalled all jdk and tomcat correctly, but I am unable to run even a simple jsp page from webapps\root. It comes up with a servlet error suggesting that

No rush to answer, as I just want to advertise the fact that Microsoft products are NAFF. But it would be interesting to know if I am doing something wrong or there is a determined effort by Microsoft to remove all traces of sun from their products.

I have a freind using Oracle with XPHome and he has had a lot of problems with it as well. When starting the server it doesn't always start properly and trying to access it from Java does have dire consequences (literally crashes the DB server) so it may not neccesarily be Java thats the problem but the Database servers.
Do you have any other Java problems aside from the DB access? Are you using ODBC or custom JDBC drivers?
Also, as a java development platform I much prefer using Win2K as a Windows platform not in general, however I feel Linux is not my cup of tea (sorry guys ;-) ).
XP is still new and as a development platform I wouldn't try to use it for at least another year (minimum 6 more months).
Have you tried JDK1.4 on XP? I'm curious to know if there are any problems with it as I have had minor problems using JDK1.4 on Win2k. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but problems such as applets not working, IDEs not accepting it (JBuilder 4 can't use it thats for sure, unless someone knows how without upgrading to v6) and getting warnings from J2EE server about how it's designed to run on J2SE 1.3.1 (no major problems though).
To XP or not to XP thats more of a mystery!

How do you stop your kid from changing the plan?
I can't actually call a number? There's none listed on this site. I need to stop my kid from changing the plan from 3 gig to 10 bc I can't afford it and I'm going to end up canceling the service if I can't get help. They shouldn't be able to do this. I e had nothing but problems from the start. First getting a used iPad and used phone out of the 3 and being locked out bc the previous owner had I tunes passwords on the phone and on the iPad. Then I was told I was signing up for the next plan and that wasn't so now I have a crapload of extra charges because I can't get ahold of anyone to try to fix this. I'm so frustrated I could blow up!!!
Put a passcode on the account. That way, he will have to know the passcode to change the plan. If he doesn't know the passcode, he can't change the account.

Why does my artwork keep disappearing from my ipod? It's all visible in itunes, but on the ipod nano it when I copy over new albums with artwork, the artwork on the albums already on the ipod lose theirs, although they retain the artwork if viewed through itunes.
In case it matters, I don't "sync" my "library". I have a I have a PC and copy over directories containing albums of MP3 files by dragging them onto the ipod with itunes. I also tried pulling over only the files and not the directories.OK, so I decided that maybe if I "sync" my iPod instead of just copying stuff to it at will, that maybe it would fix the problem. I did a "restore", wiping out the contents. I set up a "playlist", and put everything that I wanted on the iPod into the "playlist". Then I "synced" the "playlist" onto the iPod. Every song and album now had the proper album art. I could live with this. Then I added another album to the "playlist", and "synced". The new album was now on the iPod with the correct artwork. The albums that were already on the iPod now either had their appropriate artwork, no artwork, or the artwork from the other albums that were already on the iPod, with no rhyme or reason as to which was which. AARGH. I wiped it out and re-added the now-explanded "playlist" and "synced" again, and every album had the right cover. I guess the only thing to do is completely replace the contents of the iPod any time I want to add or change anything, or forget about artwork.

how can I check my passcode I updated today and when I am going to reset all content and setting my iPhone 4S they asked me for passcode when I entered the passcode the one I just update too is doesn't want to accept it
I have had the same problem with iPad recently not too sure why it happened but if you are completing a full reset anyway the easiest way is the restore via itunes on your computer and then set up a new passcode again. Resetting via itunes doesnt require a passcode so it should go straight through.

my iPod is I 5th generation. I forgot my passcode and typed in the wrong thing too many times, so now on the lock screen it says "connect to iTunes" I did all the steps your supposed to. I unplugged all cord from iPod connecting to my computer, I held the home button and plugged my iPod back in, and then I keep holding the home button until the iTunes sign showed up. I got to the right page and then clicked restore. A small window came up saying " restore and update" I clicked it, I agreed to the terms and agreements and the updating started. The updated finished with =out a problem. I t was when I clicked "restore " that I had a problem. The restoring lasted until I had about 10 or 11 minutes left. that is when I saw a alert of my screen saying "iTunes could not finish restoring,. an unknown error occurred. error code: 0xE8000065" I tried restoring and updating my iPod about three or four times now! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
