Visio 2007 Professional with Acrobat 9.4 Professional

My PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit edition with Office 2007 Professional and Visio 2007 Professional.  I have used Acrobat 9 Professional in the past to combine Word and Visio files into PDF files for patent applications with good results.  It seems that with the upgrade to 9.4, all of a sudden the formatting of Visio files has become incorrect when I use Acrobat or Visio to make the PDF conversions.  Specifically, if a Visio file has a number of pages that have a mixture of portrait and landscape views, the PDF conversion converts all the pages to whatever is the view of the first page.  That is, if the first page is landscape, all the pages in the PDF file will be landscape, rather than reflecting the different views on each page of the Visio document.  This never happened before with earlier versions of Acrobat 9 Professional up to 9.3.4.
If I use the Adobe PDF printer from Visio to make the conversion, the PDF conversion is perfect, with each page representing the correct view that is in the corresponding Visio file.  However, this is a real inconvenience, since now I have to create the Word and Visio PDF files separately and then combine the two.
Is this a bug in 9.4, or perhaps a settings change of which I am not aware?  I would appreciate any suggestions.

Could someone from Adobe respond to this specific issue so that we know we are being heard?  Will the fix for the print issue also resolve the 'attach to email' problem?  Is there any work around other than telling users to attach directly from their email programs?
Thanks in advance for your response to our concerns.

  • Conversion anomalies with Acrobat Professional 8 and Word 2007

    We recently upgraded to Word 2007 from 2003. I updated a Word 2003 document, as I do every year, with minimal changes. When I converted it to pdf with Acrobat 8.1.5, two unexpected things happened. One, none of the hyperlinks converted--they've always converted perfectly in the past. Two, numbers were inserted in front of each bookmark. They're sequential, starting at 0B for the Heading 1's and counting through the Heading 2's, then the 3's to 29B (the bookmarks are three levels). Here are some screen shots. One is with the unwelcome numbers, the other is how the bookmarks should look.
    I went back to last year's document (the new document is simply that document renamed and updated) and converted it, and everything is fine. The only difference I know of in the two other than text changes is that last year's is file name extension is .doc and this year's is .docx.
    Can anyone tell me why these numbers are appearing in the bookmarks and why the hyperlinks did not convert?
    Beth

    Apologies to everyone--I managed to insert the wrong screen shot above. From reading further here, however, I see that you're all familiar with the problem. Adobe has not fixed it? My document is about as simple as they get. Hard to believe they would ignore such a widespread problem with even very basic conversions.

  • Hello, I have purchased Adobe Design Premium CS5 with Acrobat Professional 9.0 with Win License in 2010.  Same computer, doesn't work any more?

    Hello, I have purchased Adobe Design Premium CS5 with Acrobat Professional 9.0 with Win License in 2010. Last month, the software is deactivated and asked me to reinstall it, however, the serial number I have doesn't work anymore. The computer is still the same, operation system is also the same. Something must be wrong with ADOBE. Can you help to resolve? Or direct me to a right person and number? Thanks!

    I tried, the Design CS5 worked that way, but not the acrobat pro. 9.0. I will update with what I was suggested to download again from Adobe volume licensing site. Since my computer is at my work. This is the site I was referred to:  Adobe Licensing Website | Serial numbers | Orders | Accounts

  • Problems installing Visio 2013 Professional on my Windows 8.1 system

    I have a recently built developer machine with Windows 8.1 Professional.  I have Office 2013 installed and running in 32-bit mode.  When the 64-bit install of Visio failed we got the 32-bit setup for Visio 2013 plus SP1.  That failed so I
    went out and downloaded the 32-bit "Visio 2013 Professional Preview" to get that installed instead.
    In both cases when I double-click the setup the behaviour is identical for both installs:
      The administrator approval screen pops up and I approved it.
       The Extracting Files screen pops up and goes to completion.
       The 'busy' cursor starts, disappears, restarts, and disappears once again.
       After that there is no sign of the setup process.  It just disappears.
    I did the Universal Microsoft Fix and rebooted my machine but got the same behaviour again.
    Visual Studio 2010 Silverlight 4.0 using Unity and Prism Expression Blend 4.0

    Hi
    Yes that is correct, if you have 32 bit version of office installed you need to install the 32 bit version of Visio.
    Can you right click on the setup file and then select "run as administrator"
    Perhaps restart your machine and then try the setup again. Also look for any errors in the event viewer.
    Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • How to convert large Word 2007 doc (1200 KB) to PDF with Acrobat 9 Standard

    I'm trying to convert a large Word 2007 document to PDF with Acrobat 9 Standard.  It gets as far as 58% and then says it is unable to complete the conversion.  How can I fix this?

    The file you are working on is really not that large. There probably is a problem on a certain page of the document. Break the document in half. Try to create a pdf file from each half. Hopefully, one half prints properly and one-half does not. Take the half that does not break it in half.  Try to convert each half into a pdf, etc...
    Eventually, you will find which page has a problem. Most likely there is a graphic or a font used on that page that has problem. Most likely a graphic. That graphic will need to be recreated.

  • Visio 2007 launch problem with Office 2013 installed "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Visio..."

    Running under WIN7-64 bit with Office 2013.  Requests reinstall every time it is run. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. No change. Office 2013 does not recognize that Visio 2007 is installed. Copy paste operations between Visio and Word 2013 don't
    work. Tried disabling sharepoint access for Visio 2007 and did a repair for Office 2013. No change.Tried various compatibility modes. No change. Ran Microsoft troubleshooter which verified there is a compatibility issue but provided no solution.
    Tried the following...
    Type the following command, and then press Enter:
    reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Visio\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1
    no change

    Hi,
    Based on the situation, I recommend you try to use locale administer account to login in the computer.
    Then we re-install Visio 2007, if you solve the issue,please let me know.

  • Problems opening PDFs from SharePoint 2007 with Acrobat X Pro

    We are currently migrating to Windows 7 x86, Acrobat X Pro, and Office Pro Plus 2010 SP1. Our old setup is Windows XP, Acrobat 8 Pro, and Office 2007. We are using SharePoint 2007. On our older machines, we are able to open and edit PDFs without any problems. However, on our newer machines with Acrobat X, we get this error whenever we open a PDF for editing:
    The document could not be opened for editing. A Windows SharePoint Services compatible application could not be found to edit the document.
    All of our XP users can open and edit documents without any problems--only our newly migrated Windows 7 users are unable to edit these documents. Is there a setting that I need to adjust in Acrobat X? I don't recall seeing any Acrobat X specific options in SharePoint configuration. Thanks!
    EDIT: I was able to open and edit a PDF document using the following steps:
    1. Click drop-down menu next to document and select "Check Out."
    2. In the check-out dialog box, check "Use my local drafts folder." Click OK.
    3. Back in SharePoint, click on document to open--click OK to message warning about malicious files.
    4. Edit document, then click Save button. Close Acrobat.
    5. Back in SharePoint, click drop-down menu next to document and select "Check In."
    6. Confirm the check-in.
    7. Redirected back to document library and the modified date and by fields are updated.
    This seems like an awful amount of steps. Is there a way to make this function the same when a user edits a Word or Excel document?

    Added info under EDIT.

    In Acrobat X, SharePoint Integration has been added which allows users to check-out/check-in the document from within Acrobat. Clicking the file from document library in Internet Explorer opens the file in Acrobat. The configuration that needs to be done on the SharePoint server is explained in the following KB article in section 11.1.

    Apparently the Help feature in Visio 2007 needs to access the Internet in order to work.  I need to know if Internet Explorer 9 and/or 10 certified to work with Visio 2007.  Thank you.

    Hi,
    Yes, Visio requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or a later version. Please see the article:

  • Continuing Leopard Issues with Acrobat Pro

    So after patiently waiting for Leopard update and installing it, I'm still having the same Distiller crash when trying to print to PDF. Is anyone else still having problems after this update? There's little weird about the machine - MBP Intel with 10.5.1 - and I'm up to round 4 with Adobe support on this.

    I was having the crash issue with Acrobat Professional 8 right after I upgraded to CS3 in 2007 and prior to loading Leopard recently. Calling Adobe did not help in fixing the problem (they just had me reinstall the software). The support staff didn't find/look for the Technote I finally found: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=333592
    When I upgraded to Leopard yesterday, I started making sure I had the latest updates for my CS3 suite and had to turn the updater.acroplugin plugin back on to install the updates. I was hoping the updates would have fixed the problem, but it didn't. Soon as I "unchecked" the acroplugin, Acrobat worked fine again in Leopard.

  • EMF graphics demaged in PDF created in Word 2010 with Acrobat X Pro,

    We export EMF from a modelling tool and insert the EMF graphics in Word (see Word window). Creating a PDF with Acrobat X Professional leads to a damaged graphic (see Acrobat window). It was no problem in the Word 2003 & Acrobat 7 Pro "suite"...
    What can I do to get embedded EMF graphics as before?

    Hi pwhite2315,
    Could you please let me know what version of Acrobat are you using.
    Try using 'Create PDF' option under Acrobat ribbon in your word file and check for the same.
    Also, please open 'Preferences' for Acrobat PDFMaker and check what 'Conversion Settings' have you selected.
    Let me know.

  • Scripting problem dealing with Acrobat 9's extra (unwanted) nodes

    Hello All,
    I'm having a few issues with the way Acrobat 9 creates extra nodes in the model tree when you try to export it
    out as a u3d.  Here's what i mean.
    In version 8, my object tree looks something like this:
    <Node Name="model">
           <Node Name="DTM">
                 <Node Name="D1"/>
                 <Node Name="D2"/>
                 <Node Name="D3"/>
                 <Node Name="D4"/>
    But, when i export the same model in version 9, the object tree looks something like this
    <Node Name="model">
           <Node Name="model.u3d">
                 <Node Name="DTM">
                      <Node Name="D1">
                             <Node Name="D1"/>
                       </Node>
                            <Node Name="D2">
                                  <Node Name="D2"/>
                       </Node>
                       <Node Name="D3">
                             <Node Name="D3"/>
                       </Node>
                       <Node Name="D4">
                             <Node Name="D4"/>
                       </Node>
    Acrobat 9 adds a new level of nodes.  This is a problem for me as i have been using a simple script to toggle my
    objects on/off.  The script that i've have been using:
    var Context = getAnnots3D(0)[0].context3D;
    var mesh = Context.scene.meshes.getByName("D1");
    mesh.visible = !mesh.visible
    This works fine under version 8 but not in version 9. I'm assuming that with the new level of nodes, i have to alter my script to reflect this. Does anyone know how i can adjust my script to make this work with all these extra nodes?
    Thanks

    I think I have isolated the source of this problem. It's the Pitstop Professional 9 plug in. I un-installed this, and everything opens quicker than greased lightning. I re-installed it and it's back to slowsville.
    Unfortunately Pitstop is essential to my workflow.
    Until recently I did my pre-press on a Mac G5 with Acrobat Pro 7 and Pitstop 6.5. I never had this problem with slow file opening. But it seems that the delays would occur when I used the plug-in with large complex files.. So it would open files as fast as you'd expect from an elderly machine. But starting to use Pitstop would result in a prolonged period of staring at a spinning beachball.
    I wonder is there any way to stop the Pitstop plug-in from initializing until it is used? So the plug-in stays inert until you select the tool from from the menus.

  • Text/html processing error with Acrobat Reader when sending to database

    Hi everyone,
    I have a problem that occurs in certain versions of the Acrobat Reader, with Acrobat Professional the error message does not pop up.
    In Acrobat Reader however, when sending the form to a php file to fill a database an error pops up
    "Content type text/html couldn´t be processed"
    Nevertheless it works fine, except the fact that the confirmation "successfully sent" that should pop up (and does in Acrobat Professional)  does not appear due to this processing error. What can I do?
    Thanks for supporting!

    Hi,
    I'll only attempt the first part:
    See this discussion where event.target.path.toString().substring(0, 4); was used to get the first four letters of the path. If that equalled "http", then the form was opened in a browser.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2840942#2840942
    I can't contribute on the other issues.

  • Problem with Acrobat 8 Minimize.

    Hi,
    I have some plug-ins loaded on acrobat 7, it is doing fine there, but when the same plug-ins on Acrobat 8(professional), for one of the plug-in, when i minimize the acrobat window, the UI dialog associated with that plug-in doesnot get close(minimized) along with acrobat window, but stay back on screen. It is only for dat plug-in, for other plug-in UI dialogs, they are closing with acrobat window when minimized. I dont't know what is the error creating this problem, please help me to solve this issue.
    thank you,
    palaksha

    If you have one window that minimizes, and another of yours does not,
    it's worth comparing the parent HWnd passed to window creation.

  • Right clicking PDF files and printing those with Acrobat Reader X

    We have a Windows XP computer with Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional and Acorbat Reader X.
    Now when we open PDF files they open with Acrobat Reader X wich is fine.
    But when we try selecting PDF files and right click Print them they print with Acrobat 7 Professional.
    The problem is with Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 it doesn't print all the files we selected.
    We select 50 files and only about 10 are printed and those are always random.
    So is there anyway to enable the print option to print with Acrobat Reader X ?

    This is not a desirable situation. Adobe recommends against having Reader and Acrobat on the same machine, unless they're both version X, exactly because it can cause this kind of conflicts.
