Visio 2007/Sharepoint 2010 Workflows

I have Visio 2007 and working with SharePoint 2010. Am I still able to develop/deploy workflows with this combination? I only see tutorials for 2010/2010.
Thanks.

You can still develop/deploy workflows using SharePoint Designer 2010.  You won't be able to use Visio 2007 to rough out the workflows and import them into SharePoint Designer.  That requires Visio 2010 Premium.  But, even with Visio 2010
premium you can't develop/deploy workflows without going through SharePoint Designer 2010.

  • Sharepoint 2010 Workflow successful: Sharepoint 2013 Workflow UNsuccessful:

    Observation 1
    1. I created 2 workflows that write "completed" to the workflow history
    a. 1 workflow uses sp2010 workflow manager
    b. 1 workflow uses sp2013 workflow manager
    2. sp2010 workflow works fine; it will start either manually or automatically (when a new item is created ) without issue; "completed' is written to the log as expected. Good.
    3. sp2013 does not start automatically (when a new item is created ); when trying to start manually I get error message "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow." Which I do, but still fails.
    Bad.
4.On Workflows.aspx I can see the links to start the 2 workflows manually.
    a. When I hover over the sp2010 workflow link I can see something that look like this:
    http://playground/sites/falcontt/_layouts/15/IniWrkflIP.aspx?List={ae95de8e-508b-4aa6-b4b6-490288e35e9f}&ID=53&ItemGuid={697E4218-D889-4FB8-A27B-D188F5D93250}&TemplateID={199c3d86-89a8-4286-b285-37e2d2067b52}&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fplayground%2Fsites%2Ffalcontt%2FLists%2FTrouble%2520Tickets%2Fall%2520requests%2Easpx
    b. But when I hover over the sp2013 workflow link I can see something that look like this:
    javascript:StartWorkflow4('949cb889-9b46-4959-9673-842e60cc5a42', '53', '{697E4218-D889-4FB8-A27B-D188F5D93250}')
Should this link also look similar to the sp2010 workflow link? If so, do you have any idea why it is different?
    Observation 2
In Sharepoint Designer 2013, when I goto Navigation -> Workflows and click on the 2010 workflow, I see a file listed under "Forms" that looks like this "sp2010 test workflow.xsn". By the way the name of the workflow happens
    to be "sp2010 test workflow".
But when I goto Navigation -> Workflows and click on the 2013 workflow, I see a NO file listed under "Forms". Should I see "sp2013 test workflow.xsn" listed there? If yes, can you think of why it is not listed there?
I saved the workflow debug logs from Event Viewer but won't share that info here unless necessary, to avoid making things look more complicated than they have to be.
Thanks for any comments suggestions, tips, questions, anything, etc.
Thanks and have a great weekend.
    George

    Hi George,
First of all, I'd like to clarify that workflow manager is dedicated for SharePoint 2013 workflow platform. SharePoint 2010 workflow is integrated in SharePoint server, while 2013 workflow is based on a new platform named workflow manager server.
In SharePoint 2013 designer, 2010 workflow has forms while 2013 workflow doesn't have forms.
For this issue, I suspect there is something incorrect with workflow manager. From the error message "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow",  please flush the DNS cache via executing
IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS, and restart workflow manager related services such as below, then recreate 2013 workflow to test the issue:
    Service Bus Gateway
    Service Bus Message Broker

  • Prevent Sharepoint 2010 workflow to send duplicate emails

I have SharePoint 2013 as environment but am using SharePoint 2010 workflow on a list. There is a field in this list called "Order Status" which has different status such as Processing, Shipped, Cancelled, Hold. There is another list which updates
this Order Status. I have the workflow send out an email when the Order Status changes to Processing and another email when Order Status changes to Shipped.
The issue is that there are multiple emails being sent out when any of these status changes to either Processing or Shipped. There is no other workflow attached to this list
How do I prevent the workflow to send duplicate emails? I have seen that a flag could be setup to track the email sent once but that method does not work correctly and it still sends out duplicate emails. Or maybe I am not doing this correctly
Any suggestions, comments or have anyone resolved this successfully
    Thanks Snehal H.Rana SharePoint Consultant

    Hi Snehal
If you check the workflow history, you will probably see that every time an item is added or modified, the workflow runs twice. That’s why you’re receiving two email notifications.
The reason for this is timing. If your workflow is very short and the SharePoint server is very slow, the first instance of the workflow may finish well before the item is fully saved and committed to SharePoint. As the item is being processed, the workflow
event receiver can fire again, and start another instance of the workflow.
The solution for this problem is to add a step at the end of your workflow which will pause the workflow for a few minutes .
Another Option is to use a Flag. For Setting up flag correctly check the following link

  • How to migrate a SharePoint 2010 workflow to an SharePoint 2013 environment

    Dear guys,
I have a SharePoint 2010 environment with a workflow. Now I would like to migrate this workflow in the SharePoint 2013 environment? How could this be done?
I tried it via Visio, but it is not working...
    Best regards
    Matthias

All SharePoint designer 2010 based workflows will be upgraded AS IS and can be enhanced using SPD 2013 but enhancement can be done in SP2010 mode  only (using SP2010 features), no new SP2013 features can be used in SPD 2010 workflows. Microsoft has provided
a workaround to trigger SP2010 workflows with-in SPD2013 workflows using workflow interop for SharePoint 2013.

  • Remove bad dll reference after content data migration sharepoint 2007 - sharepoint 2010

I have 400 subsites under one root site and we need to remove one DLL reference from default.aspx Home page of each sub site.
    Assmbly ref like this.
    <%@ Register TagPrefix="WpNs0" Namespace="DS.DSQueryWebPart" Assembly="DS.DSQueryWebPart, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=709ed70a96eaa5cb"%>
This assmebly is not used anywhere .
This assembly is reflecting in subsite default.aspx after the content database migration sharepoint 2007 to sharepoint 2010.
Is there any way we can remove this bad reference through database query or any other way around
    sarav

    Hi,
If are sure that this is the only customization in the default.aspx page, then you can safely  go into Site Settings -> Site Actions -> Reset to site definition -> Select Reset specific page to site definition version and enter the default.aspx
page url. This will replace the customized page with the original site definition page. The process can be automated using PowerShell/C# Code. Here is an example:
using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://aissp2013/sites/Team/"))
       foreach(SPWeb web in site.AllWebs)
      using(web)
      SPFile file = web.GetFile(web.Url + "/default.aspx");
      if (file.Exists)
      file.RevertContentStream();
The main part here is to get hold of the default.aspx file and use RevertContentStream() to reset it to site definition page.
However, if there are other customizations as well, then you will need to get hold of the Project or WSP file and remove the reference there and then run update-spsolution powershell command to update to new WSP.
    Thanks,
    Nadeem

  • Sharepoint 2007 Sharepoint Designer Workflow migrate to Sharepoint 2013

SharePoint 2007 sites migration to SharePoint 2013, in SP2007 I have several workflows created using SharePoint Designer. Is it possible to migrate those Workflows to SharePoint 2013? If so,  is SharePoint 2013 Workflow
Manager needed to run those Workflows?
BTW, I will be using third party migration tools to migrate SP2007 content to SP2013.

    Hi John
I know one third party tool which is best in migration and it migrates designer workflows also

  • Create List Item using SharePoint 2010 Workflow

    Hello everyone.
I found in youtube video using SP Employee Onboarding Web Part, idea is quite simple and powerful. But this web part available only in SP 2013, and I use 2010. So I wanted to develop my own version.
    Questions is:
I have 2 lists Employee OnBoards (list contains data about new employee) and Employee OnBoards Tasks (list contains approval task). Where field Employee Name from Employee OnBoards list is lookup field in Employee OnBoards Tasks list.
    I need emplement next:
When new Item created in Employee OnBoards list, it should copy Employee Name value to the Name field of the Employee OnBoards Tasks list.
    I hope I explained understandable.
    Thanks.

    Hi Azamat,
This you can do by using SharePoint Designer workflow.
Create a sharepoint designer workflow and invoke that when new item will create in the list Employee
    OnBoards.
then use Copy List item action to copy employee name to employee on board task list.
Below link will help you how to use copy list item action in a workflow.
    http://blogs.salmanghani.info/copy-item-workflow-using-sharepoint-designer-2010/
    Hope this will help you.

  • SharePoint 2010 workflows randomly not firing in SharePoint Foundation 2013

    Hi,
We recently upgraded a client from SharePoint Foundation 2010 to SharePoint Foundation 2013. They had several workflows on their 2010 site and would like to continue to use them on their 2013 site. In most cases the workflows are firing properly, but in
some cases the workflows don't fire at all and I see the following exceptions in the ULS logs when the list items get created (the workflow is set to fire on item created):
AutoStart Workflow: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: List does not exist.  The page you selected contains a list that does not exist.  It may have been deleted by another user. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: List does not
exist.  The page you selected contains a list that does not exist.  It may have been deleted by another user.<nativehr>0x81020026</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>
A few of the ULS log entries that correspond to the exception are listed below. It looks like when the workflow is about to get triggered then the timer service can't find the associated list for some reason and then the workflow fails. The really frustrating
part of this is that the probably occurs so randomly. It can happen for any user and sometimes it happens multiple times a day and sometimes is doesn't happen for weeks.
Anyone know why this might be happening?

  • How to send current list item URL in email by using sharepoint 2010 workflow?

    Hi All,
I had created sharepoint workflow usind SPD 2010. when new item is created it sends the email with link. But it sends current list link not the current item link.
I tried to use Encoded Absolute URL but this like
    http://asdf.com/Lists/abc/10.00
but i need something like this
    http://asdf.com/Lists/abc/DispForm.aspx?ID
I have grow thorough some post and i found that,
Statically i can write http://asdf.com/Lists/abc/DispForm.aspx?ID= and from Add lookup i can get ID by choosing current item.
The link which i get is partially hyperlink like this
http:aasdf.com/Lists/abc/DispForm.aspx?ID=10 (here 10 is not hyperlink)
when i copy and paste this link it works fine but by clicking it i am not getting true result.
Please help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Raymond,
It works for me. Thank you so much.
I also have another issue related workflow. If you can help me, i really appreciate you.
I already configured AAM. I have two Share Point Address which are:
    Default : http://default.com
    Internal : http://intranet.com
I have List workflow using SharePoint Designer 2010. When new item get create, it sends email to person for approval. But when it sends email it sends Dafault zone URL.
Dafault zone URL is only accessible through Virtual Machine. We cant access from local machine. So i need to send intranet zone URL in email so user can open through local machine.
I tried it but i can only able to do for one list. I have to so this general for every list.
How can i send intranet zone URL?
Swapping the zone URL is not solution for this issue because after swapping situation is same.
    Thank You.

  • SharePoint 2010 Workflow: Email alert when item is due to expire

    Hi Guys,
I have a library which contains a number of customer records. In this library I have a custom date column called End Date which is used to hold a date when the record is due to expire. I would like to create a solution which would send an email alert to someone
when the record is 30days away from expiring a sort of warning, and another email once the expiry date had been lapsed and the record had expired. Can you please advise how best to create this solution, I should imagine that this would be easily achieved in
designer however, I've really not got much experience with using designer 2010.
If someone could help me out with what code to use, or some useful how to's it would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks

  • Delta migration on sharepoint 2007 to sharepoint 2010

    To
    SharePoint2010 Dear All ,
I am working on (SharePoint 2007 – SharePoint 2010 – SharePoint 2013) migration project . I need to do content database migration from one environment to another and many sites are suggesting the Content Database attach approach. It is working fine but doing
in production it’s taking more time minimum one week to complete this process.
I want to take the incremental backup of MOSS 2007 Content DB (only modified or newly added data )only with one week of updated data and restore in SharePoint 2010 and 2013 Environment .Kind of Delta migration.
    Please advice on this.
    sarav

If you want to do that the only approach I see is use a 3rd party product such as DocAve and Quest to do delta migrations.

  • Need to create a workflow that sends an email every friday, not every 7 days using sharepoint 2010

    Hi Everyone,
So I need to have a workflow in sharepoint designer 2010 that sends an email out every friday, so far all the ones I have seen send it out 7 days from when the item was created, but not every (certain day of the week)
Any help at all would be great.
    Thanks
    Best regards, Mike

    Hi,
    Greetings,
Use Information Retention policy settings as below.
    pls check below
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/7be77b5d-c686-4b33-b30c-204f7ffcd569/how-to-send-reminder-email-for-every-2-days-after-due-date-occurs-in-sharepoint-2010-workflow?forum=sharepointadminprevious
I recommend to use Information Management Policy and workflow to achieve this goal.
    https://www.earley.com/blog/sharepoint-2010-using-retention-stages-manage-lifecycle-information
    http://www.danielroot.info/2012/08/information-management-policy.html
You can also create custom timer job to start the workflow at a schedule time:

  • SharePoint Designer Workflow 2010 - System Account Initiator

I am current running SharePoint 2013. I have a drop-off library which routes documents to the correct location. But when I use the drop-off library the workflow initiator shows up as "System Account". When the document is added to the SharePoint 2010
Workflow fails (I've been able to get 2013 Workflows to work but I really need SharePoint 2010 Workflow for this scenario).
How can I solve this problem? Is there a setting I can change? Or even change the Workflow initiator?

    Hi Spupload,
It is by design that Content Organizer rule will route documents with System Account and 2010 workflow cannot be triggered by system account.
I recommend to start the workflow programmatically with Event Receiver.
You can refer to the links below for detailed codes:

    Hi
    XantosX5 ,
    Thank you for your posting!
According to your description, I try to reproduce your scenario in my SharePoint Server 2013 environment.
I create a lookup column in a list and create a workflow 2013 for the list. In the workflow, I add Send an email action. Then I display the lookup column in the body of the email as the below figure:
When I start the workflow, it works fine.
    Have you installed
the workflow manager 1.0 cumulative update 1 ? It can be the point.  If not, please install it.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
