Visio 2013 64-bit Trial

Hello,
I have been working on this on and off again for the past few days. Still have not been able to crack the nut.
I downloaded the Visio 2013 64-bit trail (VisioProfessional_x64_en-us.img - it's 444MB) from Technet. At first I had issues getting a product key but found some instructions here on how to reset my browser settings and that seemed to work. So I'm square
on the file and the key.
I tried double clicking the file to kick of the installation and I get an error message (Sorry, couldn't mount the file). I found some more helpful suggestions online and have tried
 - renaming to .iso -> Double click. That didn't work
 - renaming to .exe -> Double click. That didn't work
Do I have to make a disc for this to work? I have two issues if this is the case...
1) I'm on a Surface Pro, so no burner.
2) in one of the two renaming tests above it told me that the file was corrupt. I don't want to waste a disc.
Anyone else having this issue or have any further suggestions?
Thanks!

We can not cross install 32-bit editions Office and 64-bit editions Office on the same system.
Here are some available options:
Download the 32-bit edtions Visio 2013 instead;
Remove the 32-bit editions Office 2010, and
reinstall the 64-bit editions;
Create a 64-bit virtual machine (Hyper-V), then install the 64-bit edtions Visio 2013 in the virtual machine;

  • Visio 2013 32-bit trial version will not install even with other 32-bit MS products only.

Trying to load MS Visio 2013 Trial to determine if it works so I can purchase full version.
Environment: MacBook Pro, w/ VMWare Fusion 4, Windows 7, running only MS Project 32-bit on the VMWare side. MS Office is not installed only MS Project.
Downloaded Visio 2013 Trial img file and attempted to install. Received 64-bit conflict with 32-bit software error message. Deleted Visio 2013 64-bit version and redownloaded Visio 2013 Trial img this time in 32-bit. Tried to install but the same 64-bit
conflict message is appearing.  As the only software I have installed is MS Project 32-bit it does not appear that there should be a conflict.  I have scanned TechNet and Googled to try and understand how to determine and resolve the conflict but
there are no threads to address this specific problem.
P.S. I cannot uninstall and reinstall MS Project as I spent hours on the phone with Microsoft and VMWare Support to get it installed the first time so I don't want to mess with an existing environment that is finally working.
Microsoft online chat recommended calling MS Support and they have now sent me to you. Can you please help?

    Dear Smith_123:
Thank you for your reply. However, Office had never been previously on the OS as it was never purchased.  I do have Office for Mac 2011 but that is 32 bit and is not on the VMWare / Windows side of the machine.  But even if I had, I would not know
how to clean up the residual file or registry keys without assistance.
After 1 hours and 20 min on the phone last evening and being handed from person to person through literally 9 different people, I finally reached someone that seemed knowledgeable in MS Support.  But all they would give me was a circular answer:
We can't help you because it is a Trial Version for which there is no support offered. When I explained I wanted to be sure Visio worked on my machine prior to spending between $300 and $600 on a copy, Support could only say that I would have to purchase it
first before they would give me any help to see if it works. When I offered to purchase it right then since I had finally gotten to someone who appeared as though they could help, he told me that he was Support and not Sales so I would have to go elsewhere
to purchase the product.  Very frustrating.

    Hi,
Which Office 365 Home Premium editions did you install? 32bit or 64bit? Office 2013 doesn’t support running side-by-side installations of 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Office. For example, you can’t install Office 2010 32-bit side-by-side with Visio
2013 64-bit. This applies to both Windows Installer (MSI) and Click-to-Run installations of Office 2013. If you try to do this, you'll receive the error message and be prevented from continuing:

  • Does Visio 2013 work with Office 2010?

Does Visio 2013 work with Office 2010?

    Tuesday 01/06/2015
Take a look at this Microsoft KB
    KB2784668
It has one reference to Visio and the support / install order of Office.
Now with that said, regardless of 2010 vs. 2013, you can NOT mix 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Office.
For example, lets say I installed Office 2010 SP2 64-bit
(FYI... How to determine Office 2010 SP file version
    KB2121559)
I then want to install Visio 2013 32-bit, the install will not work.
You cant mix 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office Products.
    TechNet article explains more...TechNet
(FYI...A few more people are asking the same question...)
    Forum 1
    Forum 2
(How to determine which version 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office is installed
    Stackoverflow.com)
Above article is dependent on Full Office being installed...  You can also query the DisplayName REG_SZ key as well, it will report back the Office version.
    Registry Location:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Look for the Office GUID in my example for 2010 64-bit SP2....
Now with the above said, below are notes from one of our desktop support techs in regards to issues we have seen internally running Office 2010 32-bit SP1 and SP2 on Win 7 x64 Enterprise with Visio 2013.....
Office interops. The ability for office and other applications to communicate with other office apps.
The first instance today: User sends corporate communications from word using the send to mail recipient feature. After visio 2013 installed, he received a message stating that word could not communicate with outlook, to either repair office or check the
server. Office was repaired, new outlook profile created. After research, discovered the office is sensitive to various versions in regards to interops. Discovered that Visio 2013 was installed around the time user experienced issues. After uninstalling visio,
when launching word it began to configure (like for a first time install), the send mail to recipient feature began working. This probably will affect anyone with visio 2013. Visio 2010 was not reinstalled afterwards, as user barely uses it and was hesitant.
Installation files are still on his machine in the event that he does need it reinstalled. Office version is 14.0.7109.5000 User is on Office 2010 SP2
The second instance today: Teammate stopped working 3 weeks ago according to user. After working through several support groups here and working with the vendor support, the vendor noted that some dll’s from the application were not registered. If that didn’t
fix it they suggested a reimage. After registering the dll’s, issue persisted. After further troubleshooting, determine that the feature that did not work for user consisted of teammate downloading information from a system, parsing it, then outputting it
to a word document. The application provided no error of any sort, it just would never get to the word document portion. Discovered that Visio 2013 was installed around the time that the issue occurred, and that the issue appeared to be related to office interops.
I uninstalled Visio 2013 and it began working as designed. In both cases Visio 2013 had been installed on 11/25/2014 (I didn’t see any corporate communication about an upgrade, but maybe one took place?). Office version is 14.0.7109.5000 User is on Office
    2010 SP2
I’m not sure if you have much experience with interops, but pretty much anytime you want to communicate with a different office application, that is how it is done. Per my reading through various Microsoft KB’s and support forums, different version interops
do not play well together always. It appears that these applications are trying to communicate to office 2010 (v 14) using 2013 (v15) interops, only after installing visio 2013 professional. Users were both Windows 7 x64. We also had a group of several users
who also ran into issues with sharepoint not working in any browser, turned out the problem was Visio 2013 was well....
Feel free to research more, but my own research comes down with having both 2010 and 2013 interops on the machine. To simplify it, the applications and office apps are being told to communicate using office 2013, and but only listen in 2010, causing problems.
Its not causing problems with every simple interop, or we would see it far more widespread, but we are going to continue to see the “ghost” issues where Visio 2013 is the root cause, but nothing is really going to scream it.

  • Visio 2013 Standard installer?

I have the key for a Standard version of Visio 2013.  The CD is not able to be located at this time.  The Professional Verson of Visio 2013 has a trial, so my User is happy.  The Key will only work on the Standard version.
Is there a link available to download the Installer for Visio 2013 Standard (x86) Version?  We do not have a Office 365 License, only a Key for the Standard version of Visio 2013.

  • Visio 2013 trial, problems to install the .img file

As soon as I download the trial for visio 2013 it automotically downloads an .img file. How do I either get an .exe file or the .img file to run? I would like to install the programm, thats all.
    Its the 64 bit version

I also have no option to mount an .img file, so there are 2 problems:
    1) This process doesn't work because we can't mount it, and
    2) Clearly, some software that performs the mounting is missing from the System Requirements.
Please answer how to do #1, and fix #2 on the MSDN pages.
Hi @thrillride, for your issue relating to MSDN, are you referring to this?:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/aa948864.aspx
Perhaps part of the difficulty is that various products, are "packaged" in differing ways (some are offered as EXE, some as ISO, some as IMG).
Also, different versions/editions of Windows, offer different disc-image-handling options as built-in features.
So it's not straightforward to have a one-size-fits-all guide for this topic.
The information on the linked MSDN page is somewhat adequate for most situations, but, a certain familiarity with the topic is assumed, and maybe it's that assumption which is unreasonable.
Since MS don't develop/offer/sell disc image software, MS are cautious when and how advising customers to select and use such software. (except for the builtin-in features).
There is a very wide range of software available to perform the "burning" or "virtual drive/mount" function, and MS do list some suggestions on the above-linked page. There is no need to wrestle with "mounting", if you choose
to "burn" the disc image to a recordable CD or DVD.
Some other popular choices include MagicISO, VirtualCloneDrive, WinCDEmu.
Also note that the software product itself (in this case, Visio) has no requirement for any such software. It's the delivery-vehicle that has the requirement, and, I agree that a bit more useful information about the "packaging and delivery vehicle"
    is needed.
You can raise this with the MSDN Feedback forum, since it's not related to the Visio product itself, but how it is offered via the MSDN channel.

    Hi,
This issue occurs because the trial version can only be installed on one computer. If you have installed it on an other machine, you can't install it on this machine then.
To work around this issue, you should use another Microsoft Account for this installation.

    Hi,
Is it possible to download a free trial for Visio 2013 Standard version?

    Hi,
I just downloaded the Visio Pro 2013 60 day trial, however when I put in my email address and password correctly it comes up with this error.
"The account email address here isn't associated with this Office product.  To activate this install, please sign in with the account associated with your product
Please help within the next 2-3 days otherwise I think it resets.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Have you installed Office 2013 trial version before? If you have, you might receive the error messages. Even if you uninstall the  trial version successfully, its product key and other license details still reside in your Windows which cause
a license mismatch problem and Visio 2013 shows this error message and doesn't activate itself.
We could activate it manually. Please try the following methods:
    Method One:
    Go to TechNet Evaluation center
    >Sign in with your live account> Get the Visio Pro 2013 Product Key>
Open Control Panel and click on Programs and Features icon >Right Click on Microsoft Visio
    >Enter a Product Key > Type your 25-characters product key and click on Continue button.
    Method Two:
If the above mentioned method doesn't work for you, please try to use Microsoft Visio Support Diagnostic to collect the detailed information and then do further troubleshoot:

  • Office 2013 64 bit get rid of WSD ports and never see them again

I have some users with enormous spreadsheets, so we upgraded to Office 2013 64 but (from Office 2010 32 bit). The OS is Windows7 64 bit.
We were working just fine with TCP ports for the printers. But Office 2013 64 bit installs WSD ports (not the trial version BTW, but as soon as you buy the full version it re-installs and messes up your printers)
How do I stop Office Pro 2013 64 bit from putting in these WSD port monitors. I don't need them. I just want fixed IP TCP ports.

I'm embedding by simply copying the drawing and then pasting on the slide.

Open PowerPoint 2013, go to Insert tab > Object > Create a new "Microsoft Visio Drawing", I can edit the drawing what I wanna edit.
open Visio 2013, create a new Drawing File and save as .VSDX file format, and then drag and move this file into a new creaing PPT, I can still edit it as expected.
