Visio 2013 Breaks Internet Explorer Viewing

I believe this is a problem with Visio 2013 Pro because if I start with a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and install Office 2013 Pro Plus with the Visio Viewer then I can open Visio drawings in Internet Explorer, but as soon as I install Visio 2013 (with or
without the Visio Viewer included in that installer) being able to open Visio files in IE no longer works.  Instead of opening the file I get a popup window with three options
If I click Open then Visio itself will open with the document loaded.  The save options will just open the save dialog and allow me to save the file. I find viewing Visio documents in IE much nicer because I can pan around them much easier which is
why this is bothering me so much. Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any suggestions for what I might try?
I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro, Office 2013 Pro Plus, Visio 2013 Pro, IE 11
Thanks for any and all help!

  • SharePoint 2013 Open with Explorer View Requirement of Permissions for copy / paste

    Hi,
    I have a scenario, where I have a document library and it resides in the top level site of the site collection. I have another document library in one of the subsites.  What I am trying to do is:
    Use Explorer View in the top-level site's document library to copy / paste into Explorer View of the document library in the subsite.
    I can't seem to do it. Does it require owner permissions to do so?
    Can anyone list the limitations of using explorer view for copy/paste?

    Hi,
    SharePoint maintain the same access restriction in windows explorer view as it is in web UI. That means if user has contributor permission the he/she will be able to contribute in windows explorer view as well. By default windows explorer view is available
    to every users in SharePoint.
    Are you getting error message while opening windows explorer view for any document library? Windows explorer view only works in Internet Explorer currently other browsers doesn't support Windows Explorer view.
    Here are couple of article on troubleshooting windows explorer view:

    In my case, as soon as I open IE, it crashes almost immediately. Deeply disappointed at MS now. First, there had happened a few times last year that Windows Update bricked the entire OS, for at least two times. Now it's this shxt. It's truly a disgrace.
    With EVERY Windows update, the size of the OS increases by at least 2 GB each month. For my OS drive (120GB SSD) it's quite significant. I DON'T UNDERSTAND why the fxxk MS would push out such huge Windows Update every single month. To me, it's another evidence
    how incompetent programmers at MS become. They have to heavily patch the holes in the OS every 30 DAYS, otherwise the OS will be taken advantage of by hackers. What a pathetic situation for MS.
    I already decide to switch to Ubuntu and WPS Office Suite. I am typing this post on my Ubuntu 14.04.2 laptop. Bye-bye MS.

  • SharePoint 2013 - document libraries and newsfeeds are visible when viewed using Internet Explorer running on the server but not from any other machine

    On a single Windows 2012 R2 server I have installed SQL 2012 and SharePoint 2013 SP1 with the latest update roll ups. When I remote desktop to the server using the farm and site collection admin account  and open page http://server_name_here using
    Internet Explorer, I'm able to see newsfeeds and document libraries.
    If I connected to a separate Windows 7 machine as  the farm and site collection admin account  and open page http://server_name_here using Internet Explorer, I'm able to view the SharePoint pages except I cannot see any newsfeeds or document libraries.
    There's just blank space where they should be. I have repeated this process on several other machines that are not the server and get the same result on every machine (I've tried other servers, desktops, adding the SharePoint site to the trusted sites list
    in IE, even using firefox). I'm using the same account as I did when I logged onto the server directly. Any thoughts as to what's going on?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the idea, Harsh. What am I looking for?
    It is currently set to the default of http://server_name and http://server_name:port_number (the latter is for Central Admin).
    When I have access to the server, I have always done so the same way, using http://server_name. This was true when I access it from the desktop of the server itself and when I tried to access it from other desktops and servers (the machines where I had the
    issues with the libraries and feeds not showing up). Are there other values I should add?
    I have not tried to add http://server_FQDN as we don't plan on using that to access it but if you think it will help I would be happy to add it.

  • Internet Explorer 11 and SharePoint 2013 Standard - Web Parts and Calendar Don't Display/Render Correctly

    Hello everyone.
    I am currently running a fully patched (Service Pack 1) version of SharePoint Standard 2013 On Premises. I am having 2 problems that are reproducible on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 on multiple computers when running Internet Explorer 11 (fully updated
    through Windows Update). The issues are "fixed" when running compatibility view in the browser or using Chrome/Firefox.
    The issues are as follows:
    Issue 1 Calendar view does not display correctly
    Issue 2 Web parts do not display correctly when editing a page.
    Picture of calendar
    Webpart "edit menu dropdown" in upper right corner is replaced with 2 up arrows. Clicking minimizes web part.
    Is there any word on a fix for this? Is this something only I am experiencing? Is there an issue with my SharePoint server? I would hate to have to uninstall IE11 from 300 machines and install IE10.
    Thanks

    There are a few critical issues
    Pages will not enter edit mode. You will click Settings > Edit Page and the page will simply refresh but will not change over into edit mode. Seems to only affect pages with
    Web Part Zones.
    Calendar will not enter edit mode.
    Web Part Properties cannot be modified. If you are able to get into edit mode (you can edit wiki pages) you will not be able to modify existing Web Parts by using the Web Part
    Properties panel. Instead you will see a really weird collapse button that looks like it is coming from the mobile view but you cannot modify web part properties… even through the ribbon controls.
    I cannot use the import spreadsheet app, the error says it is not supported with the current browser.
    When I hoover over a “people” field I cannot see their information.
    I had all these capabilities with IE9
    This suggestion I found online appears to fix issues 1-3.
    http://windowsitpro.com/windows-7/fixing-most-not-all-ie11-compatibility-problems
    To run in compatibility mode
    Press ALT + T when viewing your      SharePoint page
    Click Compatibility View Settings      in the menu that appears
    Click Add to add the current      SharePoint site to your list of compatibility view pages
    Click Close

  • Visio 2007 saved as WEB page don't scale correctly in Internet Explorer 11

    For many years I've been working With Visio 2007 files and saving them as web pages. My customers have then been using the HTML Versions in their versions of Internet Explorer. This has worked fine until IE 11.
    Now the scaling don't work as it used to. The Picture is smaller now when loading the HTML Version and it doesn't scale to a larger or smaller picture

    Hi,
    Please try the "Emulation Document mode 9 or previous version" to check the Visio web pages.
    Click F12>Click ctrl+8>Choose Document mode
    If it displays correctly, the issue may be caused by the compatibility and some CSS properties were not supported in IE11.
    Thus, I recommend you upgrade the Visio to a new version or edit the Visio 2007 webpage
    through HTML before we view in the IE11.

  • SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 broke Explorer View (WebDAV)?

    We recently installed SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 and have since been troubled by Explorer View. Very often Explorer View doesn't work. This error often appears:
    "We're having a problem opening this location in File Explorer. Add this web site to your Trusted Sites list and try again."
    The weird thing is that sometimes the Explorer View works just fine, but more often it doesn't. There's are a lot of blogs / topics about this on the internet, but they all didn't help resolve this issue. We use persistent cookies for our STS (AllowSessionCookies
    == false), we've added the site to Trusted Sites, made sure WebClient service is running on the clients, cleared cookie caches, etc., etc.
    Explorer View works fine when we connect to Office 365 instances. But our local farm has these problems. We use ADFS auth.
    Our problems actually resemble the problems this guy had:
    http://blog.skadefro.dk/2011/09/sharepoint-2010-and-webdav.html
    But his fix doesn't seem to apply to us.
    This all started after installing Service Pack 1, so could this be a Service Pack 1 issue?

    Hi LZandman,
    There is a KB article, it provides that:
    Issue 2
    Assume that you access the date in a SharePoint Document Library. Then, you click Open with Explorer View when you view a SharePoint Document Library in Internet Explorer 10. In this situation, the operation fails, and you receive one of the following error
    messages.
    Error message 2
    We're having a problem opening this location in File Explorer. Add this web site to your Trusted Sites list and try again.
    Notes
    These issues occur only when the SharePoint server is configured for cookie-based authentication, such as SharePoint Online.
    You may encounter a similar issue when you use other Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) servers that are configured for cookie-based authentication.
    Please take a look at :
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2846960/en-us , and download and install the hotfix, compare the result.
    I hope this helps.

  • Menu positioning problem when viewing in Internet explorer on a pc

    Hi guys,
    I have created a website for a football team and I am having problems with the menu. It looks fine in all browsers apart from Internet Explorer. The menu positioning is meant to be on the left hand side but shows far right on the screen when viewed in Internet Explorer. Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue?
    http://www.stormersfc.co.uk
    css sheet - http://www.stormersfc.co.uk/style.css
    Hopefully someone can help.
    Cheers,
    Roy

    Hummm....its difficult to tell. Youre using so many redundant css styles ie not needed.
    Youre 'leftPan' <div> container is 140px in width but your ul (unordered list inside it is 244px wide?
    Why set widths and heights when they are not needed. You have no idea what height the ul and li will be in other users browsers. A child element placed inside a parent container will stretch to the full width without specifying a width for the child element. The key to web deisgn is keeping all the maths 100% correct. If you so much as get anything out by even one px it could break the design.
    #leftPan{
         margin-left: 90px;
         width: 140px;
    #leftPan ul{
         width:244px;
         height:250px;
         background-position: 0 0;
         padding-top: 0px;
         padding-right: 0;
         padding-bottom: 0;
         padding-left: 0;
         margin-top: 1px;
         text-decoration: none;
    I see no reason why your based structure ie the 'container', 'header', 'mainpic', sidebar1 and 'mainContent' should not work in all browsers. Now what you have inside those may be casuing the conflict. I would strip the page back to the base structure (check that it does work in all browsers) then begin to fill the containers, checking as you go.
