Visio Cisco Equipment Shapes out of Proportion and others Missing

Hello Everyone,
Have any of you noticed that the shapes of line cards and port cards are out of proportion with the chassis Visio shape in which you place them. The ones below leave gaps not representative of the actual physical equipment. Also, it seems not all the shapes are included with the VSS files.

The attached image provides and excellent example of the issue with the current Cisco Visio Shapes.

Hi CZ,
You are correct that some of the line cards on that stencil do not fit properly into the chassis. Those icons/shapes were produced by the previous vendor prior to 2009 when we took this over. The shapes produced by my group do fit correctly, for example the WS-X4748-RJ45-E. The product group did not authorize us to go back to retrofit the older shapes and that's why they do not fit as expected.
Regarding missing shapes, we produce what the product group orders from us but I can often ask them to fund additional shapes when there is a forum request. Please understand that they will not accept requests for end of life products.

You cannot remove the software update notification. It will not go away. If you have the iPad2, you can update the device to iOS 6.0.1. It is your choice to not update, but you cannot remove the update notification.

Tracks out of order and other problems

For one of my albums, the tracks are all out of order. I have edited the information, and the track numbers are proper, but it will not order them correctly. I have even removed the files from Itunes and then added them again--still they do not go in order. Then when I move the files onto my Ipod they are out of order, and it's very annoying. If Itunes won't recognize the track numbers, how do I reorganize them?
My other problem is manly with the Ipod. I'm not entirely sure what I did to cause this but on my Ipod, an artist is doubled. And yet when I view the songs list on Itunes (the list of my Ipod) there is only one artist. How am I supposed to fix this?
I've tried everything I would know of, and neither problems can fix. Thanks to everyone who replies.

Gcc and others missing since Leopard installation

Not that I use these myself, but in Terminal (and X11) I can no longer find things like gcc, c++, make and other files that would be valuable to show to my students. I have vi and emacs as before, and also pico. It seems as if we have considerably fewer items listed (now 1241).
I am perfectly willing to run to the install disk and amend the installation if only I knew what to add. (I do have the Developer Tools installed.)
Some guidance, please? . . .

OK, that mist be the answer as I did an Archive and Install (earlier I had upgraded but after a couple of weeks some gremlins struck). I then dragged the Dev folder from the Old System Folder. That will be going on again (properly) later this evening.
On the other points, I have neither of those invisible files in the Home directory (or at Root come to that), although I did find a .bash_history file there. Nor are the files in that /usr/bin location.
I guess we had better resort to the reinstall of the Dev tools and I will get back to you later.

Cisco 1131AG LWAP status led yellow and other leds blinking green

I have a problem with three AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 that joined the controller and the status led turns to yellow after joining the controller while other LEDs are blinking green.
The APs has no coverage at all although the WCS shows that there is coverage and the 4400WLC shows that the AP interfaces are UP. (The ethernet interface and tha 802.11b,g radio interface is up).
The SSID broadcast is enabled.
On the switch the interface is up and there is traffic going in and out of the LAP.
I tired power reset and factory reset for the APs but the problem remains the same.
Any ideas for what might be the problem ?!!

Yes the clients are not able to see the SSID broadcasted by the AP.
But these APs were functioning normally before without any changes to the WLC config.
I had the same problem with other APs but they went back to normal state after a hardware reset to the APs.

It sounds like your iPad is closing your apps without notice. I would start by closing all the running apps on the iPad first:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

Problem building J-K Flip-Flop out of gates and other circuits

I've been having problems with Multisim 11.0 when ever I try building a J-K Flip-Flop out of gates .
The simulation stops at the fourth clock and doesn't want to set Q low, I've seen the error in other design were multisim doesn't want to do the logic operations.
Multisim seems to have problem were whenever there is a wire that splits from an outputs to two inputs, I've used the measurement probe on an other design and it shows that when ever there is a spilt the simulation it say its state is unknown...... Well I jus found out that when I put a probe on the schematic and status the simulation then it works perfectly

I hope you can understand what my problem is
If I could get a solution to This problem(s) it would be great because I would like to be able to make more circuits without using several hours of trouble shooting only to come to the conclusion that it should probably work even though the simulation says no...
This would save a lot of time when I'm building those circuits in school and I would be able to make bigger circuit simulation

Current firefox version wipes out internet conection and other programs as "incompatible" Any solution ??

Repeated efforts to downloaded latest version of firefox results in error message that various programs are incompatible with firefox, including roadrunner internet connection and most every Java subprogram.
Would like to switch to latest version of firfefox, but always have to restore computer to earlier 3.6 version.
Any solution ??

Hi there rbowman, I can understand how concerning this is. It sounds like you set up Firefox on one or a couple of computers. It also sounds like you went with the regular version of Firefox. When you first set up Firefox it ask if you would like to pull settings, history, etcetera. I believe it does this after an update too. At lest in the regular one. So the employee must of said yes I want all my stuff from IE, and we know how that worked out. Firefox makes a version for the IT admin. It is called Firefox extended support. This lets you manage settings and all of that good stuff that an admin would have to do without going computer to computer. I would recommend you try this. Hope it goes better this time.

Recent Finder and other missing File chaos!

Hi everyone! I've just resolved a problem I had where Finder refused to see my Macintosh HD Icon, either in the sidebar, or on the desktop. I've noticed that many other people are having difficulties, presumably after the latest Security Update. After 9 hours of booting from the install disk, repairing everything etc, etc, etc I finally discovered that the Macintosh HD File had turned into an "invisible" file, the ones you don't normally see in Finder, like most System/Root files. I just happened to use a utility named Cocktail to view all invisible files and hey-ho, up it popped. Then I used Invisiblix to drag the file onto and make it visible again, so that I could hide the others once more.
I am wondering if this is what people are experiencing, but with random files on Tiger, after downloading the Security Update! It may be worth digging about in this manner, and I didn't need to go into Terminal/UNIX to do it. Hope this post is of some help

Thanks for the link BD! I hadn't heard of that little piece of mischief before lol! I've generally found Tiger has run along beautifully since I've had it, and I've hardly ever visited Apple support. Most of my confusion has been with third-party software conflicts. Today it had me baffled, but when I stumbled on the issue I spent 10mins laughing insanely to myself lol :-D

Why no option click and other missing features?

The biggest thing I miss from Eudora is being able to <option> click on any field in any mailbox and have all emails with an identical field grouped together. For example, I get daily emails from slate.com. When I get behind and wish to dump them all, I can no longer just <option> click on any one of them to select them all.
The other thing I miss is drag and drop editing. I used to be able to select a sentence, for example, click and hold, then drag it to where I would prefer it to be. This worked for any selection, and understood periods and spacing. I wish Mail had it.

I do that all the time myself, but in Mail it's done differently. If the emails have the same FROM address, select one of them and click the header for the From column. All the email with that same address are group together. I just select them all (click first one - SHIFT key - click last one) and drag to trash.
The other thing I miss is drag and drop editing.
It works for me in Mail.

Looking into any threads, I found the tactic of dumping the Lib/Pref/Net file. That didn't work either...?~!
I knew buying from iTunes store was a bad idea.... prove me wrong, please. what step might I do to actually accomplish authorizing this G5 for play'n the danged music. [other tracks play fine] Do I have to download them from iTunes again.... to overwrite the songs passed directly from one G4 to a G5???? mmmmmmrg

That is of course up to you and your choice. MacFixit did a survey back in 2000/2001 for what people use.
I've tested Symantec, Central Point Software, MicroMat and others.
I also installed Vista just so I could have access to vendor utilities like Seatools (Seagate) and WDC's LifeGuard which are useful for doing tests and things that Disk Utility can't. I also own SpeedTools Suite (Intech) that is useful for performance testing, mapping out bad blocks and other features not found in other programs.
Disk Warrior can fix errors that Apple's ignores (ignorance is bliss they say
heck, one person couldn't see the need to backup their OS. Until it refused to boot and they had no emergency bootable backup or such.
I was slow to check out and start using SuperDuper. I hated the name!
So I've got over 7 yrs of 'kicking the tires' with Disk Warrior and can vouch for its usefulness. And the thanks of many for solving a problem and getting their drive and data back.
Applejack is another neat little utility, too.

Visio Stencils for Cisco Equipment

Does anyone know where you can obtain some good visio stencils for cisco equipment like routers, switches, gateways, cables, ports, etc. The default ones in Visio leave much to be desired. Any input appreciated - thanks.

I too am looking for stencils. Even the Voice_IP_phone stencil is
missing all the new series phones, such as the 69xx, 89xx and 99xx models.
Anyone know where to even open a request for the new ones, or is everyone not using Visio anymore?

Screen images becomes big and out of proportion

Hello,
I've just upgraded to IO 4.3 and everything went perfectly smooth. Suddenly when I was using safari the whole screen images became big and out of proportion for that screen... It's like resolutions of my display would go crazy... I remember this particular issue happened to me on an earlier iPhone model... I don't remember how I solved then.
Please, could someone help me?

Cisco equip. and Gauss proximity

Is there any documentation on the proximity of cisco equipment in relation to the Gauss value created by an MRI magnet?

I am guessing that there is a concern that the big huge magnet from an MRI does not materially interfere with the operation of any network devices, including Cisco routers.
The best studies available on this are generally performed by the military under the TEMPEST specifications. Suffice it to say the following:
1. an MRI is a significant source of EMI.
2. STP or fiber optic is preferred over UTP for ethernet operation.
3. EMI hardening is generally not going to be cost effective for you, so the best bet is to keep the router and other network devices as far away as possible from significant sources of EMI.
