Visio Template

Greetings:
Any one have a Visio 2000 template for a VIC 4FXS card? The Visio template index from Cisco indicates that there's one in the Modules_VICs.2.26.03. zip file. Only problem is there isn't one. This file only has the 2-port versions.

This works fine in visual studio 2008 and server 2008. But after migration to visual studio 2012 and windows server 2012(this code runs in a windows service in server) it is no longer working throwing COM Exception - "An Exception occurred" while
opening a template. Visio 2013 is installed on both server and client. Tried changing the file extension from vst to vstx. but no use.

Is it possible to create informatica visio template for sales force soruce and target objects.

Hello Anmol, I have a similar requirement where I need mass generation of mappings using Salesforce Objects as a source. As per your instruction, I used cloud version of Mapping Architect of Vision and create a template with normal source and target and Application Source Qualifier. I also mentioned Salesforce as the database type. However, when importing into Informatica PowerCenter Designer, it shows all other sources except for Salesforce sources. Can you please help me out. Hi Munisekhar, Yes it is possible. In most cases it will be easier to create such a template directly in Visio. If you need to get the mapping from PowerCenter into Visio, make a copy of the original mapping and replace the Source, Target and ASQ (Application Source Qualifier that you link the source to) with a relational or a flat file source, target and SQ respectively. Then import it in Visio. Make sure to change the source, target and SQ again back to Salesforce specific objects. So when you import such a copy (that used relational or file objects) in Visio, do the following:1. Edit the source definition and change the Database Type to Salesforce2. Edit the target definition and change the Database Type to Salesforce3. Remove the object SQ (linked from source)4. Drag the ASQ object icon from the Informatica stencil and link it the same way the SQ was linked earlier. That should validate and work fine. Let me know if you still face any issues. Note: You might already be aware of this, but you use the standard SQ transform/object when you use a relational or flat file source, and use an ASQ transform/object when you use application sources like Salesforce. While doing this, make sure to retain your original mapping in PowerCenter so you can start from that again if you need to. Thanks and regards,Amol

Editing SharePoint metadata for Visio files

When I am editing Visio files metadata in SharePoint 2007, it opens a web dialog page to enter the metadata for the SharePoint library, but, when a column field is type: choice-drop down menu. It doesn't take current metadata for those fields, so, the current
metadata has to be chosen again. Is there any technical document that explains this?
It also takes too much time to open Visio templates in SharePoint, it doesn't happen with Visio standard files, the solution was to uncheck automatically detect settings, but is there any other solution?
I am using Windows 7, Office 2010, Visio 2010 and Internet Explorer v8.

after some discussion, trial and research, seems there is a process that is missed.
as i know, when we check out the document the metadata itself cannot be edited. so then while we already saved the metadata, as by design the web file properties will be out and the metadata needs to be re-input again, as they will not be passed on check
in process.
so, this behavior is most likely by design, if you need to customize this then i think you need to open a ticket to us.
"By default you cannot edit MetaData in case the document is checked-out - which is by design and acceptable. But if you open up a checked-out document from a WSS doclib and edit it in Word and click File > Save As - in order to save the document back
into WSS - you are prompted for typing in MetaData (Web File Properties). In case you change or fill out some of them and in order to see them reflected on the WSS page you have to check-in the document again - which you will be ask for to do while closing
the office application btw.
If you keep the document checked-out the metadata are not reflected on the WSS page and are hidden (stored somewhere...) to the user. Users are confused because they cannot see the Metadata they typed in until they check-in the document. This wasn´t necassary
with SPS2001 where we could see the changes we made to metadata immediately on the dashboard. And as Joerg also mentioned bad user experience - we create unnecessary versions as we have to check-in the document which creates an additional version.
Solution here would be: either to reflect the changed MetaData immediately without the need to check-in the document or to avoid the Web File Properties Dialog box while performing a Save As of a checked-out document. "

Dynamic templates

I would like to use Visio to create graphics templates - save as PDFs and use them in Illustrator for art assembly.
Example; say a template for a #10 envelope - This template would be dynamic inthat it would be
scalable to other envelope sizes like a #9, 6 3/4 and/or monarch simply by selecting either a row in Excel
that is named as that envelope style or another method you may know of. This I call a dynamic graphics template.
Rather that having a vast number of templates of varying configurations, window sizes and locations, flap sizes and styles
and so on I would have one dtnamic template that would be the master and has new requests come along for newer styles
I could simply ad this perameters to the spreadsheet and update it in Visio thus adding that new style to the master

According to your description, I suppose that you want to list template sizes in Excel, when clicking different sizes, Visio can create dynamic templates automatically. If so, it is not accessible to achieve this goal.
It is alternative to create different sizes of templates and create hyperlinks in Excel. When clicking a row, it will skip to a Visio template.
Could you share more information about it? Or you can post a screenshot and upload it to OneDrive.

Please do check the version of the visio which u have installed it should be visio 2000 or greater.
If it is not the version problem, then may be you have not
After doing all these settings u will b able to use the visio within the Data Manager.
log in to the Data manager:
select the workfolow table, In the records --> right click and from the context menu select ADD, one new record, will be created,
In the record details you can find workflow -- microsoft visio document --> double click on that field it will take you to Visio template.

Visio 2010 starts configuartion on every run

Today I first time installed office on my computer. Office 2010 (Polish). Then I've uninstalled visio viewer 2007 I had. Then I installed Visio 2010 (English). And now every time visio start it runs configuration setup. I never had any kind of Microsoft
Office before on my computer. How to fix this issue? I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate edition (Polish). When I'm looking into Programs and functions there is no other Office than just installed 2010 , visio 2010

After 2 whole years of this nonsense, I decided to come up with my own targeted fix. Simply paste the below into notepad and save as a batch (.bat) file. Then run 5 times (or launch 5 times with each launch separated by a few seconds):

VISIO 2007 wizard runs every time I start the application

Hi All
Every time I run Visio 2007 software, the wizard installation opens.
When I click on "cancel" the wizard window closed and then the Visio software opens.
I am using with win7 64bit.
Any information would be appreciated

I too had the same problem on one of our machines - what I found is that I had to go though a number of different registry keys in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and modify all of them so they no longer pointed to
the visio viewer. Once I had removed all instances pointing to viewer I found that it was then working again. Here is a list of my keys and their settings that got rid of the issue:
.vsd - (default) Visio.Drawing.11
Content Type application/vnd.visio
.vsl - (default) Visio.AddOn.11
Content Type application/vnd.visio
.vss - (default) Visio.Stencil.11
Content Type application/vnd.visio
.vst - (default) Visio.Template.11

There is a setting to be done in .rhosts or in some particular

Hi Kaushik,
For activating the Notification step in MDM workflows you have to make settings in the mds.ini file in the server folder location,where you have to mention the Smtp server taht you are using for sending the mails.
Bedsides this settings you will have to crete users in MDM console with their email ids so that they can receive mails acc from the owner of the workflow.
You will have to add the notify step in the Visio template and fill in the correct property details.
These settings should enable your mail services for the wf users.
The mail will be shooted in 1 sec to the desired user as the timeout default time is set to 1 sec however you can set this prameter,if the mail sending is failed due to any unknown reasons an error is loged but the sending is not redone.

So, there are a lot of info in www - about how to connect shapes, how to edit some setting, how to edit microsoft built in shapes
BUT, i cant find anything (even for money) about how to create advanced shape, for example there are some paid shapes you can buy for rare usage - for example, meteorology.Or, how to create shape comparing to quality of bult in shape
all i need - i wanna learn how to do it, the best way - to find a video that will explain the mystery setting in Shape Format menu

Templates in Visio Standard

Trying to decide between Vision Standard and Pro 2013 and all I need to be sure of is if the Standard version has the Gantt Chart template in it or not? Does any know???

As far as I know, Gantt Chart is included in Visio Standard 2013. In the bottom of the following article, we can only see Gantt Chart applies to Visio Profession 2013.

UML Templates For Visio

I heard Martin Fowler speak a week ago. He had a lot to say about UML 2.0, which I won't go into now.
He said when he wants to create UML diagrams for books he uses Visio with a UML template that was allegedly better than the one M$ ships and was "available on my Web site".
I've gone to www.martinfowler.com and looked for it, without success.
Does anybody have a clue as to which template he's talking about? Where can I get it? - MOD
