  • Developer's password to  access to the Vision database

We have installed 11i on MS windows with the Vision database for
test purpose. We defined and assigned the access to a functional
end user and developer. The functional access is good, however
the developer access is not working. My question is: What is the
developer's password for Vision database, any additional setup
in the environment? Pls give detail steps for defining the
developer function and/or environment, or any other procedures.
    Thanks lot.

Please try your set of books in the general ledger and let me know if it is responding. I have set up my calendar, chart of accounts and currency but I could not define the set of books. Click define and see if it is responding or not.

  • Personal Oracle 8i Database startup password

Can someone provide the database startup password for Personal Oracle 8i.I have tried passwords like "oracle","sys","manager"in both uppercase and lowercase.
None of this works.I have read the required documentation for the same. But I haven't recd any information.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Normally this combination should work.
    Anyway, try this out.
    In the command prompt,
    set ORACLE_SID=<sid name>
    start server manager/svrmgrl
    connect internal.
At this juncture , if you are getting errors, exit the svrmgr application.
try to reset the password for internal with a new password file. (Backup the old one).
    Tr connecting.

  • How to export r12 vision database

    hi,
i want to export r12 vision database. tried to do it with apps/apps@sysdba but it is showing "invalid privileges". Same error with sys/manager & system/manager.
Is password correct  for sys & system?
Can anyone help with steps for how to export r12 vision database?
    Thanks,

You need to connect as sysdba or system to export the database -- Export/import process for 12.0 or 12.1 using 11gR1 or 11gR2 (Doc ID 741818.1)
The password for both SYS and SYSTEM in the Vision Demo is manager -- http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18727_01/doc.121/e12842/T422699i4783.htm
If the password is incorrect, source the database env file and issue:
    $ sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> alter user system identified by <new password>;
    SQL> alter user sys identified by <new password>;
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Vision Database Structure

    Hello guys
Does anybody know where I can find the Oracle Vision Database Structure? I don't want the installation documentation. I just want a document that shows the Database Structure.
    Thanks for all your help.

    Hi
    plese explain Youre question
Do You want to get DDL-statement to recreate objects ?
The space which You allocated for database is reserved and marked on blocks.
Free bloks doesn't belong to a reserve of an empty space of operating system .
I think if You whant to get size of the absolutely empty database
You need to calculate sizes of minimum necessary files in tablespaces SYSTEM, SYSAUX, Redo-files, control files , password- and controlfiles
or shrinking every table to a minimum space, move HWM and then calculate the size that Youre database occupy

  • Oracle 8i : Internal Password Disabling-Advice

We are having a severe problem at at client's site as everybody there is breaking into the Oracle8i database as internal with internal password.Inspite of trying manytimes, we were not able to find a solution. Is there a way to disable the internal provision as a whole?Kindly advise

Also, internal is just an alias for the sys as sydba user. They removed INTERNAL because of redundancy with sys as sysdba not because of lack of security.
You could also delete the old encrypted passwordfile and recreate it with the ORAPWD utility. You can create it with a new INTERNAL password.
    Hope that helps!
    ROb
    Hi,
Internal can't be disabled. Solution: upgrade to 9i: no more INTERNAL there, for obvious reasons....
Internal can be given a password to make it harder to use. Security acts different on NT than on UNIX. Lots of information on this is on metalink.oracle.com, search on keywords 'orapwd password internal'. You're not the first struggling with this.

  • Internal password

    Hello,
Last year I used Personal Oracle 7 in my database course. This fall I am using Personal Oracle 8i. When I try to install 8i , I am asked for an internal password that is needed to migrate Oracle 7 files to Oracle 8i files. Does anyone know what that internal password is????
    Thanks,

The default password for the Internal account is Oracle.
    Good Luck!

  • Change internal password

Changing internal password by using orapwd can not remove default password "oracle". It is possible to logon to the database through SQLPlus by internal/oracle. Or connect to database through svrmgrl without password. Anyone can help on how to limit access on database through internal. Thanks
    William

    1.orapwd file='/orant/database/oratest.pwd' password="password".
    2.in the init.ora file change the remote_login_password=exclusive.
    3.shutdown the database
    4.startup the database.
when you connect to the svrmgrl, it will ask you the password.

  • Dynamic Parameter Prompting for Database Connection Password

    Post Author: rsharp
    CA Forum: Publishing
    Hi
I've been finding recently that reports using dynamic parameters and published into Crystal Server prompt for the database connection password when the dynamic parameter is accessed.  Thing is, this only started happening recently for new and already existing reports with dynamic parameters and I don't know why.  In Crystal Reports the dynamic parameter can be accessed without a database connection prompt being displayed but not after publishing.  (Maybe there's a problem with the Publishing Wizard?)  Static parameters work just fine just as they always have, but I'm a bit mystified by the fact that dynamic parameters used to work (without prompting) but now they don't.  Any advice or opinion would be much appreciated.

from the CMC you have to set the default connection or wat connection should this report use,
go to this report in CMC, click process tab, and check the connection

  • Avoid EBS Vision Database data on Full Load in OBIEE

I've run Full Load after stressful installation and integration OBIEE 11g v.11.1.1.5 and OBI Applications.
The data loaded more or less OK, some parameters settings and application tuning need to be completed and it is not the issue.
The problem is that data from Vision database appear in Analytics Dashboards, specifically in GL Books drop-down LOVs.
I understand these values loaded from flat files because we don't have any tables from Vision.
We not loading Vision data and not need to show any information related to it.
My question is how avoid loading Vision data from flat files on the Full Load performing in DAC and Informatica.
    Oleg.

    Hi Sandeep,
    You mean in Oracle eBS? Than it would be something like this;
    select fur.user_name user_id
    , fur.description user_name
    , rsp.responsibility_name
    , rsp.description responsibility_description
    from apps.fnd_responsibility_vl rsp
    , apps.fnd_user_resp_groups furg
    , applsys.fnd_user fur
    where rsp.responsibility_id = furg.responsibility_id
    and furg.user_id = fur.user_id
    and fur.user_name like nvl(:p_user_id,'%')
    and rsp.responsibility_name like nvl(:p_resp_name,'%')
    and furg.end_date is null
    order by rsp.responsibility_name;
If you mean Oracle BI EE, check the repository via Manage, Security.
    Hope this helps.

  • Data Migration Oracle 8.1.6 Oracle 8.1.7 - internal password

    I upgraded from Oracle 8.1.6 to 8.1.7.

    What can be done ?

I could not get back to this discussion group before. I apolagize
for that, but as I mentioned in the previous message my problem
    is a linking one:
I have follow the step metioned in several discussions in this
    group, namely:
I have installed the compatibility libraries:
    compat-glibc
    compat-egcs
    compat-libs
    Set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL= 2.2.5
    run the environment script ./usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386
    ...-en.sh
The runinstaller program run ok has metioned previously but it
    gives me errors during linking:
After copying the necessary files and all that initial
instalation work the linking phase runs smootly, it even link
correctly several Oracle tools like Oracle intermedia, Oracle
    net8 client, and so on.
When the Oracle 8i server linking the problems start.
    All errors are like this:
-> Error invoking target install of makefile
And the afected makefiles are numerous:
    /OraHome1/network/lib/ins_net_server.mk
    /OraHome1/network/lib/ins_oemagent.mk
    /OraHome1/ldap/lib/ins_ldap.mk
    /OraHome1/odg/lib/ins_odg.mk
    /OraHome1/ctx/lib/ins_ctx.mk
Yes, the famous ctx is also giving me problems.
Moreover:The mentiones target .c files refered to in the makefile
script are all in their places!
I do not know what is happenig in this instalation.
    Any clue?
    Best regards,
    Pedro
    Note:
I also tried to cover for the ld and gcc linker and compiler to
make sure they are the right version as is mentioned in another
    thread... same thing!

  • Database Link Password Security

When using sqldeveloper it is possible to view passwords associated with database links. This is not possible to view when querying db_links or using Toad. How to view database link passwords do the following.
connections>your-connection>database links> click on a defined db_link > view the "sql tab" to see the source that creates the db_link
The database user can only view the database links that user owns. This is an issue if a production database is cloned to a test/dev instance and the db_links are not dropped or changed.
Listed below is an example of a user named 'APPS' and a db_link that user owns.
    REM APPS APPS_TO_APPS.SOMEWHERE.COM
    CREATE DATABASE LINK "APPS_TO_APPS.SOMEWHERE.COM"
CONNECT TO "APPS" IDENTIFIED BY "SOMEPASSWORD"
    USING 'SOMEDATABASE';
    ------------

While it is a security hole, it doesn't mean it is a bug. It is documented behaviour that existed in prior versions. It also goes down to the data files, so it isn't a matter of just patching the server software but changing (upgrading) the database (and in such a way that an unpatched set of software -maybe- couldn't work with a patched database).
This change is definately in the realms of UPGRADE rather than PATCH. While it probably could have been done as part of a dot release (eg 9.2.0.7 to 9.2.0.8) I think 9.2.0.8 is the terminal release for 9iR2 so if you want this, you're going to have to go a full version upgrade.

How much time do you want to spend? I've been learning the Oracle internal architecture for over 20 years and there are still new things to learn. (Well ... it also depends on what you mean by 'internal architecture'.)
If you want the basics - the Oracle Documentation set at http://tahiti.oracle.com has a Concepts manual that does a decent job of describing the basic architecture. And the Windows Platform Guide, the Unix Administrator's Reference give a fair bit of additional information. As does the Oracle Networking reference.
And there are courses. Oracle University courses provide a decent overview of the architecture. And Jonathan Lewis, Richard Foote and others give excellent courses and seminars on specific aspects of the architecture.
ANd there are books. Search for books by Tom Kyte. Robert Stackowiak.
    And internet search.

  • 9i Vision Database Installation

I am attempting to install the 9i Vision Database via the rapid installer on the Windows 2003 server platform. The Vision Database for Windows requires sthe cc, link, which, and gnumake commands. I have installed the MKS Tools 8.5 for Developers. As I work through the installation, a checkutil.cmd script runs and errors out becuase it is not able to find these commands. The MKS Tools also puts the necessary entries into the path variable. How do I correct this, or is there another set of utilities I must install? Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

Thanks. I have installed the cgywin and it has included the make command. The Oracle installation is specifically asking for the gnumake which as far as I can tell does not exist. All of the various vendors including GNU has the make command named "make". Am I supposed to rename the file?
    Thanks,
