Vision Evaluation License - Past Expiration Date

Hello All;
A word of caution if you are using LabVIEW 8.x with Vision 8.x installed as runtime: If you are using NI Vision in a runtime environment and have elected to use the 30-day evaluation license before purchasing a valid license, this is for you.
The evaluation license version has a few quirks associated with it.  This caused some minor grief for me, and so I am passing it along.  The only way to resolve these issues (that I am aware of) is to purchase and activate a valid license.
(1) Sometimes the license version will not always initialise correctly.  This has resulted in runtime application that may appear to be buggy.  If you are using the 30-day evaluation license, there is an additional toolbar that pops up, and you will need to select "Evaluate" if you do not have a license.  If this does not pop up, the runtime app may seem to work correctly, but guaranteed it will hang or do something weird.
(2) When the 30-day trial has expired, do not count on a friendly message stating just that - sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't.  Or it may be that it will show up the first time and that's it.  I've seen both.  Point is, if your runtime program was working fine "x" number of days ago, and no longer is, check the error messages generated.  Chances are, there will be an "invalid IMAQ License" error in there somewhere.
Anyway, as I mentioned, 30-day evalutaion license is great, but it may give you some weird issues.  The solution (and this has resolved all the cases I have come across - not that I'm an expert or anything) is to purchase and activate a valid license.
This caused me a certain amount of grief in the past.  Hopefully it will help someone else out in the future.

Yes, I've got the same too.
The problem was with Vision 7. We have put NIVision.dll and NIVisSvc.dll into installer, but have forgot to call appropriate Runtime installer (or probably old version was installed, and then libraries with new version was overwritten, but not licenced). Anyway, all was good, without any nag screens, but after 30 days license was expired (also without any message). After reinstalling runtime all was OK.
Question for NI - how to get license status programmatically in application?
best regards

Thirty days is nowhere near enough time to evaluate an application server,

Unfortunately, the way that weblogic is packaged mandates that they update the

You're losing development time? How's that - it's an EVALUATION license.
Download/install the product again and you'll get a new EVALUATIONlicense.
The installer might be smart enough to not overwrite your existinglicense,
so you might try to de-install the product, or at least remove the licensefile.

  • SQL Server evaluation license expired

I have a discovery system I installed in Feb 2007. Due to other work we've not used the system in a while. I'm resurrecting it and the SQL evaluation license has expired. In reading thru the forum, it's suggested that tiy detach the databases, uninstall the eval and install a licensed copy. Since SQL server qon't start, how do you detach the databases?

I've Installed a licensed SQL Server, attached the databases and am getting an error when I try to log in:
DBCHECK Wrong Server collation perfroms SQL2005 after upgrade steps Please see note 126973
Before I completely hose things up is there something I mssed when I installed the SQL Server?

  • Evaluation License Extension

Is there a way to get an extension to your evaluation license in Exchange 2007? I walked in to a deployment that was not complete, and would like to use an eval license to finish the deployment.

The sys admin setup all the servers (a Client Access server, Hub Transport server, Edge Transport server, and Mailbox server). They are setup with Exchange 2007 (which is what the company is licensed for). When I open the Management
console I am greeted with a notification that the evaluation license has expired. I would like to make sure everything is working before I apply the actual license they own.

  • Where can I see my expiration dates for the licenses i own?

I can view the licenses i own, but i don't see the expiration dates of the subscriptions anywhere.

There is NO serial number if you subscribe, none at all, and you shouldn't need it. If you sign in with the SAME Adobe ID, it knows what you paid for and gives you access.

  • License Expiration Date in "Show Version"

    Hi,
When I do show version on my IPS it shows that the license will expire after 2 years although I have purchased IPS services for 1 year only! Does this mean that the license itself will remain valid for 2 years, however I will after 1 year no longer get access to the download page?
    Please advise!
    Regards,
    Haitham

    Hi Haitham,
I do not know why you have 2 year license. In IPS, only different thing between licensed IPS vs non-licensed IPS is the ability to update IPS with downloaded signature file.
To answer your question, if you have 2 year license but only have 1 year service, you won't be able to download the signature update file after 1 year.
    I hope this helps.
    Thank you.

  • Updating Evaluation License for WLCS 3.5

    Hi,
I am still evaluating WLCS 3.5 and would like to obtain a new evaluation
license (my existing one ran out today). According to the docs this should
just involve downloading another license and running UpdateLicense.cmd from
the BEA_HOME directory where both the new and old license files reside.
However, doing this has not had any noticeable effect (ie I can't start the
server). The license.bea file still has today as the expiration date. Also
do I need to upgrade my WLS6.0 license separately as well? A quick response
    would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Laura Allen

Incidently, I can start the underlying WLS6.0 ok - I thought they used the
same license file? The error I get when attempting to start WLCS is as
    follows:
    <14-Aug-01 15:48:44 BST> <Error> <COMMERCE_SERVER_FRAMEWORK> <LOG_FATAL:
    WebLogi
c Personalization Server: Core Server: 3.5 license error.>

  • Circuit Design Suite 10.1. Evaluation error. Evaluation period is expired?

    Hi!
I'm a student from Portugal and recently (Monday, March 23rd 2009) I have downloaded the evaluation version for the Circuit Design Suite 10.1 that includes MultiSim 10.1...
Everything went perfect during the installation, but when I tried to run the actual application, an error box showed up saying "An unexpected licensing error has occurred. Contact National Instruments Technical Support at ni.com/support to resolve this issue."
I tried to open the application one more time, and this time, the evaluation option is disabled with a new message next to it: "Your evaluation for this product has expired."
Now, I went through the license file for MultiSim, and somewhere in the middle of it I could spot the following line, "INCREMENT Multisim_Edu_PKG nilm 10.0101 22-apr-2009", which I believe to be the expiring date of my evaluation...
Can you help me with this issue?
    Best regards,
    Antonio Rodrigues

    Hi Antonio,
    Thanks for
posting on the National Instruments Forum.
    Can you
Repair your installation? Does it work? If it does not work you can uninstall
your Multisim (don't forget the Windows Registry; HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\National
Instruments, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\National Instruments Delete the Multisim
    Key) the reinstall Multisim.
Moreover, if you downloaded the evaluation, make sure you have unzipped the
    files in your local disk.

  • It is possible that Ironport will send notification when license is expired

We have a problem that no one will remember when the licensing will expired, can ironport send email to notify user when the license is almost expired. If not is there any other alternative way like using third party softwar?

    This capability is already there.
Make sure you set the mail relay under Network>Internal SMTP Relay
Add an Alert recipient under System Administration > Alerts, and make sure they're set up for at least Warnings  (I get them all, and its not overly chatty)
You'll get one at 30 days, one at 15 days, and one when they expire.  See the below...
Also if you turn on AutoSupport (in System Administration > Alerts > Edit Settings)  and have it sent to an "Alert Recipient", it will send you an email with an XML data stream that has the expiration dates in it. See the below, specifically the "features" section
All of this is covered in the Online Help.  Search for Autosupport.

  • SQL Server 2012 Standard saying its Evaluation period has expired

We installed SQL 2012 Standard on a server and have since created a 1TB SQL server database.  Suddenly, we started receiving an error when opening the SQL management Studio that our evaluation period has expired.  We purchased 2 licenses of Standard
2012 and installed it on two servers.  One is working fine, and the other is saying it had an evaluation copy.
According to our VLSC account, there isn't a product key required, so I can't run the edition upgrade to upgrade it to standard.  Is there a way we can get the license converted without risking the 1TB database we created?

    Hello,
Sometimes the media provided when you buy the licenses have the product key prepidded. You may find the product key shows by itself
when you reach the Product Key page of SQL Server setup. Please try that?
An edition upgrade won’t delete any data or configuration of the SQL Server instance. Please read the following article:
    http://www.sqlcoffee.com/SQLServer2012_0015.htm
In some cases, even when you have performed an edition upgrade to a licensed edition, you still get that evaluation edition error message.
If that is the case, please read the following thread:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/9e50de75-6119-4963-8d5e-9d8b0367bc8e/evaluation-period-has-expired-sql-2012-ssms?forum=sqlsetupandupgrade

  • LMS4.1 evaluation license

    Dear All,
Cisco release the Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 on Aug. 2011.
I download the lms4.1 from cisco and install it, but the lms4.1's evaluation license expire date is Oct. 28 2009.
So my license already expired after I install the LMS4.1.
Cisco PH and TAC can't help me to resolve it and who can help me

This is quite abnormal. A re-install should help. Try if you configure the server's date before expired if that works.

  • LiveCycleES2.x86_64-0.0.2 license has expired

The license information in the LiveCycle admin UI of the most recent VMware image reads:

    Current license: EVAL
Last updated on: 11/18/09 5:59 PM
    By: LC_LICENSE_MANAGER
    Status: Pending confirmation
    Installation date: 11/9/09
    Expiry date: 1/8/10
    License has expired.

This is an "evaluation" virtual appliance.  So it has an expiry date.  However, the expiry does not prevent LiveCycle from functioning.  It will continue to work.
We will be keeping the eval appliance updated roughly 2-3 times a year.
