I have had my Vision:M for about 6 month, and decided to upgrade from .4 to the new firmware. But when the update was finish and the device booted, it just freezed, with the lights on. Nothing worked. Same thing happends if you reset the thing. Tried new firmware and everything else on the rescue menu.

  • Freeze during boot after enabling Hyper-V feature in Windows 8

    Good day.
I'm using AMD FX 8320 with 990FXA-GD65. After enabling hyper-v my pc freezing during boot.  Google told me that it might be issue with USB 3.0 controller, so i disabled it in bios, but result still the same.
Can you please tell me where should i look at?

    Hi,
Please try to boot into WinRE and run the Startup Repair option.
Generally speaking, when you add feature like Hyper-V, system would take a long time to get this feature configured. if your computer still stay updates configuration steps, you can use Windows 8.1 installation image to repair system. In system repair mode,
you can access into Command Prompt mode, and check CBS.log under C:\Windows\logs\CBS.
This log file would record Windows installation process, we may find the problem of Hyper-V installation.

  • Ix2-dl doesn't boot after firmware upgrade

I upgraded to the latest firmware and it won't reboot now. the power light just keeps blinking.

    Hello lcgrzy,
I recommend trying the following steps:
--Power off unit, remove power cable and re-seat all disks.  Then reconnect the power adapter to attempt to boot up.
--While powered off, swapped the disks to opposite bays. Then see if the unit fully boots after about 5 minutes.
--Try booting the unit one disk at a time to see if either disk will fully boot.
--Try booting the unit one disk at a time to see if the firmware on the unit seems to be ok.
--If the unit does not seem to boot after the above, please call lenovoEMC support.

  • Creative Zen Vision M:30Gb freeze problem skipping between tracks

    Hi guys,
I bought my Zen Vision M:30GB 2 years ago. It was a regenerated model by Creative.
I'm fully satisfied of this product, i think the best of his category, but It has this problem since two years...Sometimes when i skip between mp3s (especially in random mode) it freezes and remains on the screen of current mp3, blocked...even I try to touch all buttons it doesn't unblock and i have to reset with a clip in the reset hole.
I've noticed that this problem comes especially when i use random mode of entire library (about 4000 songs) or however with a long playlist...it doesn't happen when i listen a single album (about 20 mp3s in playlist)
    Sincerely i'm a little bored ...
I tried to do some clean and format up by the system menu, but the problem persists...
I've also thinked the problem could be because there are in library mp3 with variant bitrate...or a physical problem (I hope not)
    What do you think of?
    Thanks for help!

Hi, I stopped using this MP3 for about 2 or so years because I bought a new one. I decided to start using it again and downloaded all the required software but as soon as I unplugged the MP3 from the power outlet, the player died. I can't get it to start up without plugging it into a power outlet. I think it has rechargable battery? Why didn't it recharge itself?
My second enquiry is about the capacity of the player. When my player was empty, I went into "Information" and it said Total Space: 28GB and Free Space: 2GB. Why is free space only 2GB? Shouldn't it be 28 as well?
    Thanks in advance!
The battery will only last about 3yrs regardless of use.You will need to change it. Did you scroll down to see the album, picture, track counts? Did you partition part of the dri've for removable storage. • Zen Vision M 30GB Freezes when

I hook it up to my PC. I have XP Ser. Pack 2. I recently had to reformat my hdd on my PC, so i reinstalled the creative software, but everytime I connect my Vision M via USB, it freezes, and windows says that it malfunctioned. Please Help. I have used it before and it worked fine, I don't understand. I couldn't even upgrade firmware since it freezes when I connect it.

Is there enough memory for the video to fit's Is it in the right format/codec? I am assuming it is since you were not asked to re-encoded before transferring the file.
Other than that, you may try restoring or formating the player to the original settings. The worst case scenario is that it is a hardware problem, but try to eliminate all other alternati'ves before reaching that conclusion.
    Good luck!

  • MacBook Pro Won't Boot after Firmware Update

So I just upgraded to a MacBook Pro which came in the mail yesterday. I removed the Apple-installed HD and swapped it out for a bigger, faster HD. I installed OS X from scratch, imported everything from my Time Machine backup during the Setup Assistant, and then started installing updates. Everything was running swimmingly until the last updates.
What happened is when I rebooted my MacBook Pro and logged in after a series of updates, I got presented with both a Bluetooth update and a Firmware update at the same time. Both required a restart so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone. I installed the Bluetooth update, and then when it asked to reset I installed the Firmware update instead. However, the firmware update didn't behave as advertised because instead of shutting the MacBook Pro completely down, it restarted and then started installing the firmware update.
Ever since the firmware update (which I think installed correctly but don't know how to verify), I cannot boot my MacBook Pro. Using the OS X install DVD I can view my firmware version using System Profiler, and the number it is reporting is MBP53.00A.B03.
I have tried booting in verbose mode to try and get a feel for the problem, and it eventually hangs on an infinite loop saying something about not being able to find something on disk0s2.
I also thought I would fix the problem by doing an Archive and Install, but it quit at the very beginning of installing with the error "unknown error".
Also I thought I would format the disk with Disk Utility and then try installing again, but Disk Utility reports that it in unable to unmount the volume.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    -- Update --
Remember how I'm unable to unmount the drive? I force unmounted it and then used Disk Utility to repair the volume, but still no luck.
I think the key to the problem is this new HD I put in runs at 3 Gbps. I think I read somewhere that the new MacBook Pro's don't support that.
I think next I should try swapping out the new HD in my MacBook Pro with the one it originally came with. What do you think?

I, too, have a brand new MBP 15" that I put an Intel X25 in. At the 1.5 (Prior to Firmware Update) setting, it worked fine. I rant the Firmware Update, all looked fine, but the drive is no longer able to be seen.
Flash the PRAM, per other suggestions to no avail. Boot off of the DVD and disk utility nor Profiler sees the drive.
Replace the drive with the stock that came with the MBP (which I had never even used) and it works.
Put the Intel X25 into a Windows machine and it works fine. Reformatted it (in windows) and put it back into my MBP. Still not able to see it (from the Disk utility after booting off the DVD).
Intel's firmware for the drive says its up-to-date (new drive) and if I attempt to "re-run" the Mac Firmware Update, it says that the machine is already up-to-date.
Seems odd that it worked before an now it doesn't. Also seems odd that the X25 works in other machines. And that my MBP works just fine with the stock Hitachi 7200 320GB drive.
Ideas? Intel says to call Apple Support. Not sure what I can say to them.

  • X79A-GD45 windows 7 freezes during boot after bios upgrade/usb 3.0 drivers inst.

    Hello,
After I upgraded my bios from 1.3 to 1.4 I noticed I still had some not properly installed hardware in the computer management screen, so I used live update 5 and found the the Renesas USB3.0 Drivers. The system runs fine, except from a cold start.
When starting the machine, windows freezes on the 4 colour logo, before the usb initializes (this I can tell from the keyboard not lighting up).
A forced reboot does not help. However, going in the bios (to check if all drives are functional) and then booting, does. After this the machine runs fine again.
Now my question is, is this caused by the new bios or by the Renesas USB3.0 Drivers? Or is it something completely different?
    Thanks a lot,
    Floris

Using LU5 often ends up this way doing UEFI/BIOS updates dead board!
In the future, recommend to use the forum flasher found here with instructions on how to use it; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=108079.0
After a flash, it is also recommended to remove the power cord from the PSU, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS & reset.

  • Acer aspire 5560g Failing to boot after Firmware update

Hey guys, So i recently upgraded my Aspire 5560g to Windows 8.1. I liked it but it seemed to have lost my drivers in the process (my track pad scrolling didnt work and my Dolby audio origram was gone). I went to  for the drivers and decided to start with a firmware upgrade (9545 for hard disk performance).  After the computer rebooted, I entered the dreaded Windows 8.1 boot loop. It would say "Your PC ran into problems..." with the bluescreen, then turn off. Then it would attempt the Automatic repair, and fail again, then restart the cycle. I wasn't able to even get into my BIOS until I cleared my CMOS, now at least I can get into BIOS. I created a bootable USB for Windows in hopes I could do a clean install, but even when trying to boot from a USB I get the blue Windows 8 screen, "Your PC ran into problems..."
Is there a way I can undo the firmware update, it seems like the culprit, doesn't it?  Any help appreciated. Thanks EDIT: I've read that the Windows boot loop may be caused by outdated drivers. Think this could be the problem after I did the firmware update? How can I install the drivers without being able to boot into Windows? Thanks

Okay, I tried each stick at a time in both slots with the same results. Windows blue screened on both the HDD and the bootable USB. Isn't it too much of a coincidence that it started acting up after the firmware update?
To be clear, it was a firmware update for the BIOS. The page is here for the Aspire 5560G: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers I am open to more suggestions, I'd really love to get this working again after dropping the $ on Windows 8

  • Lion freeze on boot after ram upgrade.

I have a mid-2010 13" Macbook Pro. I wanted to upgrade to 8G of ram so I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002YUF8ZG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
When it arrived in the mail I installed it and booted the laptop. The apple logo comes up, the spinner starts spinning and then after awhile freezes. I figured that I recieved bad RAM so I sent it back to apple and they sent me new memory. I installed the new ram and the same thing happened again. Booting in verbose mode (Apple-V) doesn't give anything useful.
This time I decided to run memory tests. I booted into single user mode (which sees 8G of memory and works fine) and ran memtest overnight. It ran 6 or 7 passes without finding any memory errors.
My next plan is to try to my DVD reinstall/repair the OS to see if that will help but I don't want to do that because I would have to downgrade to Snow Lepoard and then reinstall Lion and that takes long enough to try to avoid.
    Any things to try?

When you boot in single user or safe mode, all third party software is prevented from started. So it is possbile one of your third party party applications that are starting at boot is not compatable with the new RAM. I would try turning it all off and then test them all each in turn.

Unluckily, I need the SCA6000, and I don't have any other server in which to mount it, so I tried to downgrade the firmware to the release I had before the upgrade:
    firmware version: 6.6.7
    patchid: 136928-05
but the system does not boot anymore with the SCA6000 connected. I even tried an older fw release just to be sure (fw 6.6.1, patch 136928-01), with the same result.
I did not find mention of any incompatibility in T1000 or SCA6000 documentation.
Any help would be REALLY appreciated
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
This looks similar to the bug 6630313 :: http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-1-6630313-1
As described in the bug document, it is due to lower f/w rev. on the SCA6000 and solution is to upgrade the crypto card f/w to 1.1.0 /1.1.0 (bootstrap/operational )or later.
Another workaround would be to install system f/w 6.2.4 or 6.2.8 which works well with crypto card f/w 1.0.4/1.0.7.
Copying relevant part of the document for ref.
    =======================
Work Around: The card is recognized by obp and prtdiag with firmware 6.2.4, so at this point customer is using firmware 6.2.4 as workaround.
Customer's crypto card is currently running 1.0.4/1.0.7 bootstrap/operational firmware. Customer can upgrade the card to newer firmware such as 1.1.0/1.1.0 by moving card to a system that boots successfully such as Ontario T2000. After such upgrade, install the card back into T1000 which should boot successfully with sysfw 6.4.0, 6.5.5 or 6.5.11 posted on Sunsolve.
Another workaround is customer can downgrade the T1000 sysfw to 6.2.8 so they can boot with the crypto card. After the T1000 is up and running with sysfw 6.2.8, customer can upgrade the crypto card fw to the latest 1.0 patch on the T1000 itself, then upgrade the T1000 sysfw to the latest
version posted on Sunsolve. This workaround does require customer to have access to an Ontario T2000 system.

  • Freeze at boot after Grub

So here I am again, baffled by the simple freeze of a computer. I've installed arch Linux to me desktop and didn't receive any errors but when
I boot I barely get past Grub. Computer boots to post, bio's, and grub without problem. I select arch Linux and then I get the following
    message.
    Loading Linux linux ...
    Loading initial ramdisk...
then the screen clears itself and I get
    Starting version 218
    /dev/sda1: recovering journal
    /dev/sda1: clean, 36385/19013632 files, 1491251/76047360 blocks
and then the cursor blinks a couple times before freezing. There's an audible blip on the speakers and the cursor will either be on or off depending on which one it flickered to when it froze.
It's a clean install and I follow the same basic process every time taking from the Installation guide, the beginners guide and "Build a Killer Customized Arch Linux Installation". Nothing happened out of the ordinary and I got no error messages, but I'll show the commands I ran.
Got the arch iso from the download page of the archlinux.org/download/. Scrolled down to the http direct downloads and downloaded the iso from the United States mirror archlinux.surlyjake.com. Created a bootable usb to install the program using the USBwriter and that went without a hitch. Booted to the flash drive like normal and everything goes fine except for a small error at the boot where it says it can't load Nouveau something or other, it scrolls by too quick for me to tell but since everything else runs perfectly I don't think that's the issue. It get's to the root and logs in automatically like normal.
So going along with my normal process I took my 300GB harddrive and formatted it accordingly.
    fdisk -l /dev/sda
    fdisk /dev/sda
    m
    p
    default
    +290.1G
    m
    p
    default
    default
    t
    2
    82
the above commands creates a 290.1GB /dev/sda1 partition that would hold arch linux. Then I made an 8GB swap partition (I know that that's large to the point of being pointless but I like solid numbers too much and that's how much ram I already have).
    I ran the
    mkfs.etx4 /dev/sda1
    mkswap /dev/sda2
    swapon /dev/sda2
    mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
All my partitions made and mounted, I run
    pacstrap -i /mnt base base-devel grub
and it installs the necessary programs. Once it's finished I run:
    genfstab /mnt >> /mnt/etc/fstab
I change root into the install:
    arch-chroot /mnt
Instead of including all these commands, I'll just say what I did. I edited the locale.gen echo'd and exported LANG=yadayadayada, set and created the symlink for the timezone and ran the hwclock command. I run the systemctl enable dhcpcd@eth0 command to have internet. Configure pacman.conf to add the multilib repository and all ILoveCandy to the miscellaneous options.
    next comes
    mkinitcpio -p linux
and finally I set the root passwd and ran:
    useradd -m -g users -G wheel,storage,power -s /bin/bash terin
    passwd terin
to make my account. I edited sudo with
    EDITOR=nano visudo
and added the wheel to the group.
    Next comes
    grub-install --target=i386-pc --recheck /dev/sda
    and
    pacman -S os-prober
so I can finalize the dual boot later. I run
    grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
to finalize the process and exit, umount -r /mnt, swapoff /dev/sda2, and reboot.
This is where I remove the usb stick. The computer posts, bio's, grubs, and everything else fine until I hit the above point and it freezes.
For the sake of giving all the information I can my system is a desktop PC running an msi 970AG46 motherboard, and AMD FX 8320 3.5ghx eight core cpu, a PNY GeForce GTX 750 graphics hard and 8 gb (2x4gb sticks) ddr3 1866 MHx ram. The hard drive is a a Tochiba MK3252GSX 2.5 inch 320 GB sata drive. Hopefully that's all you guys need and we can get the ball rolling and on the right track once more. Thanks in advanced.

aWas at work so I'm only just now getting all this. I only reference the killer guide as a third source to the process as I do prefer some of his methods. Things like making the user account while chrooted in and he explained the EDITOR=nano visudo thing which I never see in the beginner or install guides. I prefer setting it up when I'm chrooted in as well. I know I could always go to the Sudo page for that line but Then I don't see the different methods of installing arch linux and seeing what changes effect what outcomes. Anyway, a moot point. I use the install as my primary source and the beginners guide as my secondary source when installing or reinstalling Arch Linux (a process I've done some 25 times over the years usually without headache if you don't count the 15 times I didn't really know what I was doing and the 5 times I broke the os messing around)
As far as the questions, yes I can chroot into my install and I turned off the quiet parameter for this session and rebooted. It froze again but with different stuff on the screen I'll detail below:
    starting version 218

  • MacBookPro won't boot after firmware update; superdrive spins forever

I got my brother to switch to mac recently, but his MacBookPro has stopped booting. He told me that he ran a software update, in fact he said specifically "firmware update" on his CoreDuo MacBookPro, and as a result the machine does not boot. Instead it struggles to power on when the power button is pushed, and nothing happens except for a spinning up of the superdrive. It continues on like this until he holds the power button down again, stopping the spin.
As he put it, he ran a "firmware update" (sounds strange to me) and was told to restart, so he clicked restart. He was later instructed to do a hard restart, holding down the power key. He did so and has since fallen into the spinning drive problem, with no hints as to any cause.
Does anyone recognize this, and could someone please suggest solutions for trouble shooting? Thanks in advance. OS 10.4.x

This sounds like he got a kernel panic, as my FAQ* explains:

  • Repair service for N80 (bricked after firmware upd...

    Hi,
I have a broken N80 mobile, that doesn't boot up anymore after an unsuccessful firmware update. Unfortunately the warranty is over and Nokia Service refused to repair as it is apparently not "worth" the repair cost. Does anybody here know a clever third-party company (preferable in Europe) that repairs this kind of damage and is capable of "soldering out" the flash mem and put a new one in (as normal flashing - even through the service bus doesnt seem to work anymore)?

Hmm,thats too bad but I can't hardly believe that a software(e.g. upgrade) can damage an electronic chips (flash memory)& service bus ! Its not allowed here to discuss hardware repair, but a hint... any laptop repair shop that is equipt with heat gun & laser for removing SMT chips can do that, if you knew the particular chips.

Like others I've been hit with the same audio and device shutoff issues after upgrading to the latest version of the Muvo TX FM software (.22.03).
    What a fricking pain!
After reading a lot of the boards and stuff I finally was able to revert to .9.0, but not before trying everything under the sun.
Starting with a player that had nothing on it I did the following:
    - reinstalled .22.03 so I had something that my PC could copy files on to, etc...
    - using Windows Explorer, formatted the device to FAT, instead of FAT32
    - Attached device in Recovery mode (holding play button long enough while connecting to USB port, that the device came up listed as in recovery in the device manager dialog.
    - launched .9.0 install (MuVoTXFM_PCFW_LF__9_0.exe)
This time I didn't semaphore timeout and it got past allocating tables and completed the install. My tests of the device seem to indicate things are working again.
    Hope these steps help others!
