Vision M FM Radio Prob

I got my Vision M last Thursday (today is monday). I installed the newest firmware update (.30.02)when I got the thing, then loaded a few albums. Everything worked fine. The FM radio sounded great, I was able to set radio stations, and record shows.
Today, though, the radio stopped working. The "FM Radio" option is still there in the menu, but when I select it I get no signal. (It isn't that the reception is bad, there simply is no singal.) When I unplug the headphones I don't get the "no antenna" message that it used to give me. I tried the "autoscan" feature, but this seemed to hang the device. After resetting it I went into recovery mode and tried "clean up", but that didn't bring back the radio. I reinstalled the firmware. Still no change. I'm beginning to fear that this may just be a hardware problem and I'll have to send the player in to the shop. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I bought my vision M from amazon and have the same problem . when I received the device I was able to do and autoscan and work fine then I heard several stations and no problem. But after one day or two I could not find FM in the Menu. I thought I had a firmware problem and I downloded the latest firmaware .30.02 .. surprise FM showed for a couple days and then I have tried everything Resetting options , reloading another time Firmware , clean up and formatting none of these options has allowed me to have FM back in the menu.
Have you fixed the problem..please let me know..

In the US my vision:m had no problem picking up radio stations. But now in Ireland when i do an autoscan, it picks up nothing.
    Anyone know why this is?
    Thanks.

Sounds like a bad connection internally or something else going out. Your best bet would be to contact Customer Support about your warranty status. Also, just because I know CS is going to ask you to try this, you may want to update your firmware just to eliminate the possibility of a software issue, and because you can tell them you already did it.
Also, please leave the cursing off the forums. We try to be 'family friendly' around here.

  • FM Radio prob

I recently purchased creative zen about a month ago and one day it froze at the creative logo and so i formated the hardisk and did a disk cleanup and then ran the 2.x.x.x whateva update it start working right but now all of a sudden i dont even have the FM Radio feature on the main menu i have checked where you can customize the menu and add things and it wasnt even there. The model i have is a Creative Zen Micro and if anyone can help me thanks in advance.

I know this topic is long since dead but I really need some help with a similar problem.
Recently I have been having the same problem since I updated from .42.x to .62.0 version of the Zen Vision M firm ware and when i tried going back to an older firm ware which the radio was working on for my brother in the display options menu it only made things worse by adding two new options with no label and they do absolutely nothing I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas because my personal experence with the tech support has been far from being even decent and I would like to avoid them if at all possible.

  • Creative Zen Vision:M FM Radio Completely Disappeared!! (Reinstalling firmware doesn't hel

I turned on my Creative Zen Vision: M, and the FM Radio wasn't there. It just simply disappeared; it's not listed on the Main Menu, nor is it listed as an option from "Configure Menu". This has nothing to do with a new Firmware update that removes the?radio; my player was not connected to?my computer. I have had my player since July of 2006, so it's obviously too late to return it. I've looked around on the forum and many other people have had the same problem, but the only solution has been to reinstall/upgrade the firmware. This doesn't solve the problem. I've tried everything on the recovery menu--formatting, rebooting, cleaning disk, etc, but nothing has worked. I've also contacted Customer Support, but from what I've heard, it's probably not going to help. Has ANYONE been able to solve this problem? It's really frustrating that so many people have this problem and nothing has worked.

    Oh, right, sorry.
"OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Version: 5..2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600"
Though currently, I'm installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 via Windows Automatic Updates.
    WMP Version: .0.572.5230
Should I uninstall WMP entirely to eliminate it as a possible factor?
(I have Winamp so I don't really need WMP.)
Are you saying that once I rollback my WMP to WMP0, my computer will be capable of reading my Zen & thus, allowing me to download the firmware and restoring it's previous condition (minus the contents-music, video, pictures, etc.)
Also, I tried to see if my Zen would try to connect to my laptop - I uninstalled the Zen program on it before connecting it, to see if anything would come up, allowing me to do anything, etc. But no, it just said "My Zen" but I couldn't do anything with that. And then I installed all of the software on the Creative Installation CD. After all of that, apparently my computer acknowledges that a device is connected via USB because it gives me an option as to what to do with it - open it, play it with wmp, explore, etc. The problem though was that the Creative program itself wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. So I still had the "The player is not connected."
Just thought this might make a difference -
I also was looking for some kind of repair shops or sites that would be capable of repairing my Zen - the only thing I came across was http://www.zenrepair.com/Zen/index.jsp - does anyone know anything about this site? If it's reliable, etc. (Just a back up option in case this situation isn't solveable by other Zen peers.)
Also, thanks again for any help, effort, attempt, etc.

  • Zen Vision M 30gb Connection Prob

Hello,?After using my Zen for months without any problems, yesterday, I couldn't make my player recognized by either Windows Media Player or Zen Vision:M Media Explorer. I made a big search on the internet, found too many posts, followed the instructions and nothing happened. - My operating system is SP2 installed Windows XP.- My Zen is fully charged.- I tried all 6 USB inputs.- I also tried three different USB cables.- In Device Manager, I can see my Zen with the name "Creative Zen Vision:M" under the Portable Devices category. No problems, no question marks, no conflicts...- I made the "Permissions for Everyone" change from Registry. People recommended me to install the latest firmware but it also says "your device is not connected". Then in another forum, I noticed that some people are experiencing problems with Media Player . I tried to uninstall it but couldn't do that, too! I tried to rollback the drivers, nothing happened. I tried to delete the files and registry keys, nothing happened. I tried to install Media Player 0 on , of course nothing happened. I want my Zen back! Your suggestions will be very much appreciated. )?Thanks,Ozan.

  • Zen Vision M 30Gb Battery Prob

My zen vision m 30gb player can not hold battery charge. The battery when charged fully will drain out without usage. When charged fully and in use, the charge will last for only 2 to 5 minutes instead of the 5 to 0 hours it use to last. Can any one help me with this problem please? The firmware I am using is v .62.02_0.0.23 and my operating system is windows XP professional with service patch 3. I have done clean-up and reboot, the only thing I have not done is reformatting the player.

  • Zen Vision:M 30GB Player Prob

The problem is that my Zen Vision:M 30GB Player is stuck in recovery mode. I turned it on the other day with no previous problems, and now it only goes to recovery mode. The player is detected when I plug it in, but it does not leave recovery mode.
    I have tried:
    ) Cleaning Up
    2) Formatting
    3) Rebooting many times
    4) Reloading firmware
All to no avail. When I try to reload the firmware on my computer by using the MP3 Player recovery tool it says "Upgrade Failed" at the end. I even tried downloading the firmware and upgrading it manually, but it only ended in the same outcome.
    My firmware is v.62.02_0.0.23?
    Any help is much appreciated.

  • Creative Vision:M 60 GB prob

I got my Vision:M back in January and it's been working great... until a few days ago. For the past week, it's been taking longer to load (though I only have 30 GB filled) and it's been freezing a lot (that's only happened once or twice before). Now when I go to turn it on, it just sits at the Zen Vision:M title screen while the harddri've makes scratching kinda noises.
I already tried resetting it a whole bunch, plus I went into Recovery Mode and went to Clean Up and then Reboot. During Clean Up it doesn't do anything (even after I left it for several hours), and Reboot just brought me to the title screen again. I really don't want to try formatting it as I have a dozen or so albums I didn't think to back up, so I came here to see if anyone had any other suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.

While its?is true that clean up doesn't physically check the hard dri've, it will detect and recover some data errors related to?corrupt information or incomplete writes to the hard dri've. ? So it is very much like chkdsk for windows as its designed to?fix?and recover?from errors associated with the data structures written to the storage medium. ?I got to spend about a half hour talking with a creative labs product engineer at comdex awhile back.
He seemed to REALLY know what was talking about and?will forgive the guy the fact that he was a Mac geek.
He was very kind enough to explain?how the MTP protocols have changed how?these devices are?designed internally and how the?meta data for files is?stored seperatly from the data themselves.
My interests where purely from a forensic standpoint as was wonder how law enforcement could recover data or evidence from a device, or how you could verify a device was sanitized before being sold etc. (Job related stuff.)? So it was a very long conversation,?part of?the discussion was the clean up operation. And he was the one who term'd it as a chkdsk for a zen.

  • Zen Vision: M Album Art prob

    Hi all...
I recently did a fresh install of Windows MCE and had to reinstall all my Creative stuff. I used the CD-Rom to reinstall (still mad about the MP3 conversion removal from the new version of mediasource). Since reinstalling everything, I cannot drag jpg's into the Zen Media Explorer to put on the Album Art.
It worked before I reinstalled. Now when I drag a picture onto the "musical note" icon, the hard dri've on the Zen Vision has activity (the docked icon spins) but the picture doesn't appear.
The album art I added before is all still there, but I can't change or replace it. Every time I drag, the hard dri've spins and everything, but the picture just doesn't show up.
I haven't installed Windows Media Player either.
    Any ideas?
    HB

I have found precisely the same problem.Re-installed windows last week, and ever since I have been unable to transfer album art. I used to do this by naming album art jpeg as "folder" and dragging album folder directly into Vision:M media explorer. I have also tried to dragging art onto the album art placeholder on "album" view - as described in creative knowledge base solution 879 - and this does not work. The only way I have found to transfer the album art is by syncing through media player . I should point out that I was using media player 0 before my re-install - but surely this cannot be the reason can it's The album art which I had transferred previously to my player is still fine. Is there any solution to this It's only a small problem, but it's really starting to bug me Thanks

  • MuVo TX FM radio prob

    Hi!
I have a muvo tx fm (256mb) player which was bought in France.
For a while the fm radio worked just fine. Then the player started to freeze if I try to tune to any station.
Out of approximately 0 attempts I can get the radio work only once. But even if it turns on I still can't tune to any frequency, the player just freezes again.
The only thing I can do after it freezes is to disconnect it from the battery and reconnect again.
I have the firmware version .00.04.
I tried the latest firmware .3.03 but with it the player stops responding right after I switch the radio on. So i downgraded back to the original firmware.
Anyway i still can't get the radio working.
    thnx and regards,

  • Vision:M 30gb driver prob

Ill start out with my computer specs cause I know thats the first question someone will ask:
    Operating System: Windows Xp-Service Pack2
    USB:2.0
    Media Player: Windows Media Player
Now the problem, when I plug in the mp3 player the computer will display Found new Hardware Wizard. In that window it says this wizard helps you install software for: Creative Zen Vision:M. I click on install software automatically, then it starts searching for the driver for the mp3 player. After that it comes up with a window saying cannot install this because wizard cannot find the software.
    Things I've already tried:
. Manually pointing the hardware wizard to look in C:\windows\system32
    2. re-installing the software that came with the mp3 player
    3. updating the the software that came with the mp3 player
