Vision: M not connect

I literally got this thing today, really excited, and I charged it up as it said, and installed the software. I did everything correctly. I try to connect to my pc and I can't exactly register my product. No biggie. Well, yes. A pop-up DOES come on when I connect my vision:m, however, when I select the explorer program to transfer files, the program states that my player is not connected. IT IS.
I have reinstalled the software three times, I have tried different usb chords, I have tried different usb ports. I have spent the last several hours trying to connect, and nothing. PLEASE help me. Every time it pops up, and every time the explorer program won't let me send anything to my player. Same goes for WMP.
Do I have a defecti've unit's Have I done something wrong?

I'm having the same problems as phoenix has. I installed using the Creative install disk, and it doesn't work. I installed and re-installed twice. I go into media source and it says its not connected.
When I plug in my ZV:M, windows makes a double connection sound, then when I check it out by clicking on the symbol that pops up near the clock; it says a device is connected but its not recognized. I have . ports all around, so it gave me the disclaimer that it'll transfer slower, which isn't a problem for me just as long as it transfers. So i'm guessing that I don't have the right driver installed so that the ZV:M could be recognized? What do I do?
Also, I don't have SP I believe on my PC becaused when I tried to install the Window Plays For Sure program, it said I needed at least SP to use it. Will not having SP cause my PC not to recognize the ZV:M?

    ?I've searched through everything I could find here and tried them all, to no avail. Here's what's happened. My Zen Vision M (30 Gb) wouldn't start when connected to 3 different PCs I use it with. I figured it needed firmware update or something, so I tried that, but all update tools say I need to connect the Zen. I tried clean up and formatting all to no avail. Same not connected issue. Then I searched through the forum and saw the exclamation point in device manager issue, so I uninstalled and then plugged it back in. No more exclamation point and it shows up in device manager, but none of the firmware update options recognize the Zen is connected (or Media Player 0 or ). Device manager says it's operating fine, but Zen Media Explorer, MP3 recovery tool, and Media player do not recognize it as connected. Since it's older, all Creative said was EOSL... Are there things I haven't tried?

I don't think my player was ever exposed to 0, but I rolled back one on a laptop to 0 and then tried the firmware updater I had saved on that laptop and it worked! I'm back in business!? Now am reloading about 25 Gb of music, but that's a pain I can deal with. I tried the different cords and as for OS, one is Vista, one XP Media Center, and one XP. All are up-to-date with service packs etc. I had just updated Norton 360 and I read somewhere that it can mess up USB ports, so that may have started all the fun. In the end, thanks to all in these forums as I never would have thought of rolling back Media Player and the other things I did. Kudos to all....

    So, I'm sure that some guru has the solution, and I'm convinced that this zen is not dead!

    You're right the Zen is not dead. It needs a firmware to work & it doesn't need to be connected to the computer to erase it. It does however need to be connected to a computer to reload it. First you will need to install WMP0. http://www.filehippo.com/download_wi...edia_player/9/
    You then need to charge the battery When its charged & turned back on you will choose Format>Cleanup. You then connect player to see that Windows can see the device. Once you can see that it is recognized in Device Manager you will Disconnect it from the computer (use rear usb ports)
    You will need to download the firmware file for the player to the desktop & open the file.(do this before you connect the player again)http://support.creative.com/Products...me=MP3+PlayersOn the player before you connect it to the computer that has the firmware file open & ready to go you will choose Reload firmware connect the player to the computer(use rear usb port) choose your language & let it run. (the autoplay window may open DO NOT CLOSE IT)
    The reason it did not work before with WMP9 is that the driver is a part of WMP0.

    New at this, please bear with me.
    My player worked just fine, unfortunately I don't have a car charger and after a long trip killed the battery. I return home, plug the player into my computer and nothing happens. I get frustrated, try everything, even going from USB port to USB port to get the thing to charge... nothing.
    I leave it plugged in for a week and forget about it for?a few days. Well, it's charged, I'm happy about that, however I'm not very happy that it is not being recognized by my computer. Nope, no docking symbol, nothing. When I open the program it tells me the device is not connected. So again I try it in every port available and nothing. I do get a symbol within the battery symbol that sort of looks like a plug in, but no lightning bolt or dock symbol. (I guess it won't give me a lightning bolt if it's fully charged, right? (duh)).
    I even uninstalled and installed the software on my computer thinking this is the problem, checked the USB ports through the control panel(...), I get nothing.
    Anyone, please help. By the way, I am not a computer expert, nor am I an MP3 expert, I just want this thing to work so I don't have to go out and buy a new one. This one is only a year old and I only use it in my vehicle on long tri

    This has happened to me a few times with my vision m. First, is your firmware updated?
    Driver Removal/Reinstallation
    If this is not your first time plugging your ZVM into that computer, and it had worked before, then it is likely your system's driver cache has gotten corrupted. Windows has the occasional habit of "forgetting" things that it had recognized in the past. You will have to uninstall and reinstall the driver. To do this:
    Plug your ZVM into the USB port, if it isn't already.<
    Go to Windows' Device Manager by right-clicking on "My Computer" and selecting "Properties" (alternati'vely, if you are not running in "Start Menu Classic View" mode, then open your Control Panel from the Start Menu, select "Performance and Maintenance", and selecting "System"). From there, select the "Hardware" tab, and click "Device Manager".<
    Locate the entry for "Creative Zen Vision:M" in the device list. It should be located under "Portable Devices".<
    Right-click the "Creative Zen Vision:M" entry, and select "Uninstall".<
    When the entry disappears, unplug your player, and wait several seconds.<
    Plug your player back in. The "Found New Hardware" wizard should come up. Allow it to locate and install the driver automatically.<
    Windows Media Player on Windows XP
    If you are running Windows XP and have updated your Windows Media Player to WMP from WMP0, and you start encountering connectivity issues, you may have a conflict between WMP and your Creative software. There are three possible solutions for this:
    Download and install the update patch for Creative Media Explorer, which can be found on the appropriate download page on Creative's website. This makes the Creative software compatible with WMP's MTP driver.<
    Completely uninstall all Creative software and use WMP instead. If the problem persists, reinstall WMP.<
    Roll-back WMP back to WMP0.<
    Docked, but Not Recognized
    If your player is showing all the signs of being docked, but your computer isn't seeing it, then try performing a Disk Cleanup from the ZVM's Recovery Mode menu. As a last resort when nothing else has worked, you may need to reformat your ZVM - also from Recovery Mode. Note that you will lose all of your media files when you reformat.

    (Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging( Hi, I recently bought a refurbished ZVM that doesnt seem to charging properly. When I first got it, it hadnt been charged in quite some time so the battery was overdead. My PC couldnt detect it when I connected it via usb and it didnt even start charging at all. I then connected it to a wall charger and it finally started charging. The strange thing is it never fully charges. I've charged it twice now, both times for at least about 2 hours, and the battery doesnt go more than 50%. And when I connect it to my PC to transfer songs, instead of resuming its charge, my battery runs out. Is this a case of a faulty battery? I li've in Australia and I bought it from the USA. I would prefer not to go through the trouble of returning it if I could. Anything I should do like leaving it to charge for an even longer time? Also one more thing I should mention. When I remove the wall charger and plug it back in, it takes the ZVM sometime to detect it, about 30 minutes or so, and start charging again. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,?After using my Zen for months without any problems, yesterday, I couldn't make my player recognized by either Windows Media Player or Zen Vision:M Media Explorer. I made a big search on the internet, found too many posts, followed the instructions and nothing happened. - My operating system is SP2 installed Windows XP.- My Zen is fully charged.- I tried all 6 USB inputs.- I also tried three different USB cables.- In Device Manager, I can see my Zen with the name "Creative Zen Vision:M" under the Portable Devices category. No problems, no question marks, no conflicts...- I made the "Permissions for Everyone" change from Registry. People recommended me to install the latest firmware but it also says "your device is not connected". Then in another forum, I noticed that some people are experiencing problems with Media Player . I tried to uninstall it but couldn't do that, too! I tried to rollback the drivers, nothing happened. I tried to delete the files and registry keys, nothing happened. I tried to install Media Player 0 on , of course nothing happened. I want my Zen back! Your suggestions will be very much appreciated. )?Thanks,Ozan.

    Based on your description, it would be advisable to get in touch with support. Check the "Support" folder on your installation CD for Customer Support contact details.

    Hi I have just bought it today, and the installation went thru without any trouble. Then when I connected my mp3 player as the book says I for one cant install it (since there's no driver for it) and when I look in the 'Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer' it claims that my device is not connected even though my computer has detected it - but can't install it for some reason. Any solutions, suggestions anything?thx in advance

    I'm having the same problem with my zen vision m. It worked the first time I plugged it in, but now it doesn't work. The player says it's docked, and the computer says it detects it in the taskbar, but none of the programs recognize it. I've tried WMP, Musicmatch jukebox, the media explorer, and the source organizer but nothing recognizes it. I've restarted the computer, restarted the player, clicked "refresh devices" a hundred times and it still doesn't work. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Creative Vision M - Not working

    Ive owned my Vision m for around 4 months now, and had no problems with it at all. I used it on Wednesday night, to listen to some tracks, and i set it down on the sideboard when i had finshed. I picked it up agian last night, and low and behold it had stopped working...
    When i slide the slider to the left to 'Power on' the Blue LED just flashes, and doesnt turn on. If i hold the power slider in this position again the power LED blinks and nothing more.
    If i connect it to my PC, it isnt being read, and stays as 'Not connected.' If i try and change the player, the blue LED blinks constantly, and again does nothing more....
    Any help here would be greatfully recicieved...

    try to reset it by inserting a paperclip into the reset hole in the bottom of your player. no wait turn it on while doing so insert the papaer clip/ rescue mode will come up. choose cleap up. all it does is clean the junk temp file son the zen aand scans for errors. this problem has been posted.i think something that oyu might have to charge it or the battery or hard dri've are fired. also try turing it on when you do so. put it to your ear and if you hear a VERY low moan its not good if you hear the dri've spin than its good. loud clicking is bad and so is screetching.

  • Windows Media Player 11 - Zen Vision:M Not Recognized Anym

    I've installed WMP, which is told to be especially very well with Vision:M, and nothing recognizes my Vision:M now.
    It's shown up as a Portable Device (with a new icon), with it's Name "Creative Zen Vision:M", I connect, it asks me what to do. Windows Media Player, Vision:M Explorer or firmware updater I've just downloaded doesn't see the player connected. Each time I connect, it appears to be something different on My Computer. Sometimes the device's name with ZVM icon, sometimes Zen Vision:M with portable icon. And it even thought it's a camera or scanner and put it there!
    What's going on?

    Any chance of posting or PM'ing me your wmsetup.log file? So far I've seen one and that was a total install failure, so isn't the same problem you had.

  • Vision M - no connection with firmware upgrade with WMP

    Now I know there's been a lot of fuss about WMP and firmware upgrades but I've got a problem with WMP0! If I connect my Vision M to the computer within seconds the Media Explorer page comes up and I'm away - success. If I run the firmware upgrade (ZENVision_PCFW_L6__42_0.exe) it comes up and says player is not connected. If I re-connect, Media Explorer pops up again and says player is connected but the firmware upgrade exe is still saying the player is not connected. It doesn't matter how many times I disconnect and reconnect, the upgrade program does not recognise the player! I checked WMP and that is version 0. So is this an earlier problem that someone's got an answer to I don't think I'll go to WMP! My Zen is version .40.02 and I'm trying to upgrade to .42.0. Please help?Glazza

  • BT Sport Not Connected message

    When using the App on my I Pad on WIFI to watch BT Sport I keep getting a message saying I am not connected to the Internet, although the picture continues to play, which I have to 'OK'. The programme then continues. I suspect that these are very short interruptions that the App is detecting. I do not get the problem on my Mac.

    Ok, if you have a BT Vision+ box and can view the other extra broadband channels have a look in the following.
    Help & Settings > Settings > Entitlement Information
    That controls what you can and can't view.
    If it doesn't include 'BT Sport SD' and possibly 'BT Sport HD' then it suggests your order for BT Sport hasn't been processed correctly on the system.

    can anyone help.........my vision m was working fine a few days ago .now it will only charge up when plugged in .cant find player through "my computer" or "hardware manager ". "hardware manager" doesnt even show "windows portable devices " ,"windows portable devices" wont?even show up even when an apple ipod is plugged in , but ipod does work ok .i have run the checker from?creative fan?and it says service pack 2 not installed , but i know it is .all i can think is that its a update from microsoft thats caused player not to be recognised or done something to service pack 2...........does anyone have any ideasi've tried re installing just about everything .lots of people seem to be having this problem...........is there anyone out there who keeps their pc updated with microsoft updates that this problem is not happening tothe problem started around the 8th julythanks??

    next i would suggest you clean-up your zen, if still not ok, got to format itmany of the posts, i answered most never come back anymore, so i assumed their problems are solved . some minority are grateful and will come back to say 'thank you'. i am telling you the probable solutions that i knew or read another its success on someone else. just to tell you my zen vision got no connection issues, just got to reset it once when it freezes.

    Before this it was Ok. Now, when I plug in the usb it detects the player, but the drivers WILL NOT load. It shows up in system--->device manager--->? driver not installed.
    I've tried,
    -removing creative installation software (which came with the player)& re-installing..
    -updating my systems BIOS & USB drivers.
    -running regedit & ticking 'allow read' in USB's (as explained in creative troubleshooting)
    -turning off my firewall.
    I connected it to my sisters computer running Xp & it connected without problems.
    Why wont it connect to mine

    OK now, I am not the smartest computer dude and this is not the magic cure but it did fix my problem with WMP0 and Creative software not noticing the player and the driver having issues. I was also having issues with a new external hard dri've.
    I tried everyhting to fix this thru creative support which did respond to all my inquiries thru email, but nothing worked. I mean nothing. Reinstalling software, WMP0, manually searching for drivers, deleting USB ports so Windows could reconfigure, pulling out all USB peripheals except mouse, BIOS settings and updating drivers on motherboard.
    Now here is how I fixed the problem:
    I bought a new USB 2.0 PCI card to stick in my motherboard from NEWEGG for 8.99 plus 5 bux shipping. It was a wing and a prayer, it was plug and play and so easy to set up. It auto noticed without having to install drivers, even though a NEC chipset driver set was availbale on the disc provided. It noticed it and said I was good to go. I was still apprehensi've upon plugging my ZEN in , but saw stuff I hadn't seen b4 then went to WMP0 and There she was saying lets play. Creative noticed it tooo and starting DLing tunes.
    My external hardri've works great now tooooooooooo.
    It was a SYBA USB PCI 2.0 card on NewEgg.com and it got here in 4 days. 4 external and internal port and is 5 star rated by over 60 revieewer that bought the product. If this does not work u are only the 5 percent restock charge and so all u would lose is about a dollar.

    And no I do not work for SYBA, but just so happy that I finally got all my stuff to work. Seems a lot of people out there have the same exact problem as I did.

    Ok, i bought a Vision:M just yesterday, worked fine.
    The player jammed when i was browsing photos and now, when i connect it to my laptop, it recognises it "mtp player found" but the media explorer program simply says "your player is not connected"
    I have tried deleting and reinstalling the software, but it still does exactly the same.
    Any ideas on what to do?

    My 2nd gen works fine with WPA2 and AES encryption.
    You may need to go back and start over.  Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router.
