hi I'm new and got a new vision m today after my zen pmc broke a while ago. how do i manually add radio stations on my vision m as the autoscan doesn't pick up all the stations available.

FM Radio is built into the unit itself. You only need the headphones as an antenna and any headphone can serve as one.

Work around for radio tuner service not working

A work around for the lack of radio tuner service that has appearently hit Itunes versions lower than 11.
We all hope that Apple will restore Radio Tuner Service for us legacy products users soon, but I've been thrown under the bus more than once by Apple in the last 25 yrs to put much hope in that (I started with an Apple III w/a Z80 card running C/PM, yeah I'm that old)
Have your iTunes and your favorite browser open.
In your browser go to http://vtuner.com/setupapp/guide/asp/BrowseStations/startpage.asp
This will give you a list of Genre's, etc of streaming internet stations.
When you select a genre you'll get a list of stations that shows station ID, what type of feed codec and data rate.
Select any of the AAC or MP3 feeds.
Select play.
This will send a small download file to your computer containing the selected feeds URL.
Your computer will ask what app to use to open the file, select iTunes.
This will automatically open a file called Internet Songs at the end of Playlists in iTunes (if you don't already have one), and will install the URL there.
All the stations you selected will now be permanently stored in Internet Songs.
Viola, your very own custom personal internet radio playlist!

Apperently iTunes 11 is not affected (Apple stil makes iTunes11 for the 14 yr old Microsoft XP OS, but not for anything PPCs can run. Go figure)

On 9.2.1/10.4.11 differences, some time in the past someone selected 'save file' and checked the box 'don't ask again' on your computers dialog box. That's why you're not given a choice wih the file downloads. I would think that selection should be able to be reversed.
iTunes 9.2.1/OS10.4.11 puts those downloaded URLs into the Music Libary of iTunes, no matter if it's opened directly, or you click on the file on your desktop. You can create a new playlist, highlight the selection in the Music Libary, and drag it to your new playlist to keep alll the steaming URLs together. NOTE, this only creates an alias, the URL copied by iTunes must remain in the Music Libary. You can then delete the the files on the desktop, if you want. I did multiple stations this way in 9.2.1, they all show in either the new playlist created, or in the Music Libary, and remain after the desktop files are deleted and trash emptied.
You can switch sations by double clicking them. Another note, all the URLs were all from vtune.

How does one get a radio station listed in the iTunes Radio Tuner?

We have a live 24/7 Liberal/Progressive political talk radio stream which may be found at http://server2.whiterosesociety.org:8000/HeadOnRadioHQ and we would very much like to have this listed in the iTunes Radio Tuner.
We produce 60 hours of original programming every week, and also have permission to do a "The Best Of The Mike Malloy Show" in the wake of his firing by Air America, and that is appearing at 10pm ET every weeknight. When we are not live, we replay recent shows from the live stream.
I think that having HORN on the iTunes player would be an asset to Apple.
Who do I contact? Is there some sort of application form?

Sorry, but there's no mechanism for getting a station added to the iTunes Tuner list. No one outside of Apple knows who's running the server that maintains the list since 3Com shut down Kerbango, the previous host of the list, and for some unknown reason Apple has not provided any way of contacting the current provider or administrator for making changes or additions.
I can only guess why this is the case; perhaps Apple doesn't want to bog iTunes down with potentially a huge list of stations (there are after all hundreds if not thousands of iTunes-compatible streams available) and so only provides a sampling.
You might want to consider listing your station through Live 365 or ShoutCast or another such streaming service. That would get it to the attention of a lot of people.

Lost radio tuner with Win 7 install

Hello,
I recently installed Win 7 over Vista on my HP M8100n desktop. The radio tuner no longer works on the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC combo card, through Windows Media Center. The TV tuner still works fine. When opening the radio application in WMC, a small window opens saying "To play FM radio, you must first install a radio tuner". I have tried the Hauppauge driver 18drv_28021.

Itunes 10.6 radio tuner

Is anyone else having a problem with the itunes radio tuner working after upgrading? when I access the radio stations it says " Contacting tuning service refreshing Eclectic" and it hangs there forever. I had problems with this before the upgrade then it seemed to be repaired, now it is happening again.

I also noticed that version 10.5 doesn't prompt for Proxy credentials while version 10.6 does...

Qosmio F30 and Radio tuner for WMC

Hi,
I found software (radio tuner) but the problem is I couldn't run it. I don't have hardware (Floppy disk drive) to run on it.
And maybe it is not compatible for my Qosmio F30. Is there any another software that compatible for laptop?

I saw your posting where you asked about this software. Why you didnt wrote there where you found it exactly. This can help other forum users.
Sorry but it is not so cool just to ask something, read answers and ignore what other people wrote to you.
So if you have European notebook model it will probably not work. As far as I know US models have this function.

Radio tuner not working?

All of a sudden, the radio tuner is not working. The message I get is "An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your Internet connection, or try again later".
This tells me nothing. My internet connection is fine for everything except this. When I went into Help, this is what came up: "You can also choose iTunes > Preferences, click Advanced, and choose Large from the Streaming Buffer Size pop-up menu". There is no such pop-up menu or even any reference to Streaming Buffer Size.
Does anyone know about this?

Only about the other 500 people who have posted about this issue in the last 48 hours (browse the forum). Some have issues; others, like me, do not. I suspect the only thing to do is be patient. Oh, you can always report it to Apple, but I suspect they know about it.

Nokia 5800XM Radio Tuner Gets Freezed

Hi. Im having a nokia 5800XM with the latest firmware update and im having a problem regarding the radio tuner, that is most of the time the radio player gets freezed and cannot switch to another preset frequency or exit the application, inorder to do so is to turn the phone off and restart it. This problem is for the radio tuner only, the music player works fine without any issue. Please help me with this situation.

Creative Vision M - Radio built into headphon

Hi There,
Thinking of purchasing a Creative Vision M and have a question about the radio. I plan to use my own headphones - I like my noise cancelling Sennheisers. Anyway I read that the radio is partly attached/embedded in the headphones - is this true and therefore if I change to other headphones, how can I receive a decent reception?

Creative Vision:M Radio prob

In the US my vision:m had no problem picking up radio stations. But now in Ireland when i do an autoscan, it picks up nothing.
Anyone know why this is?

Sounds like a bad connection internally or something else going out. Your best bet would be to contact Customer Support about your warranty status. Also, just because I know CS is going to ask you to try this, you may want to update your firmware just to eliminate the possibility of a software issue, and because you can tell them you already did it.
Also, please leave the cursing off the forums. We try to be 'family friendly' around here.

XAV-701HD bought in USA change to Asian region for the radio tuner?

I bought XAV-701HD Car Head unit from Amazon USA, but bought down to Sri Lanka where I live, I wanted to have MirrorLink and a good head unit, I loved this unit as of its features and it’s a ‘Sony’. I fixed the unit on my new 2014 Subaru Forester and it works beautifully but with one exception, the radio channel spacing in this unit is in US configuration (0.3MHz gap), where in Asia this is 0.1 MHz steps. I checked the Firmware file for this unit in Asia region, its identical to the US region, so I believe the unit has the capability but some configuration sets it to US range. Pls let me know whether its possible to change this to Asia settings.

Thank you very much for your reply. I tested as you suggested, but brief touch on teh arrow or seak does not tune in 0.1MHz steps, but in 0.2MHz steps. I got a short Video. Note here there is very strong radio station on 101.0MHz but it does not get tuned in to. In Sri Lanka most of the radio stations on even steps of 0.1MHz which I'm missing. Any help is greatly appriciated. I stil couldnt fully explore the MirrorLink as my phone dosent suport it. Eying for a Xperia Z1 LTE, still want to make sure to further invest on this head unit as I get only few radio stations

Question on Radio tuner and msi radio on getting it to work

Ok Iv installed MSI Radio, also got the radio card muted with the msi media center uninstalled that thing is just evil, problem now is the msi radio is not talking to my radio on my msi mega 865 deluxe, the msi media center 3 works with it, but i cant mute the radio card on the audio settings. The radio card starts up when msi radio starts up but none of the tuner options work, i get the fuzz in the back ground but the buttions are not talking to the mega 865's radio card what can I do I want to avoid the msi media center 3 because I will not be able to mute my radio and will have that annoying fuzzy stuff running in the back ground that will annoy me to no ends lol

what is this background fuzz you keep going on about? thats the sound of an untuned radio...
if you aren't happy with media centre 3 (who is? ) then make sure you fully uninstall it, and uninstall the mega radio program (for now)
turn off your pc and unplug the power lead for a few seconds then reconnect.
put into hi-fi mode and make sure radio is working - if it ain't working in hi-fi mode its not gonna work in windows. try tuning a few stations in, and then leave it set to a station you recognise...
if all is ok, then power into pc mode (making sure you turn off hi-fi mode first)
if you hear the radio playing when windows has started (as opposed to "background fuzz" now you have a station tuned in), open the windows volume control and look for the "Radio" slider, you might need to go into advanced properties (under options) and tick the box to show it. just tick the mute box, no need to adjust slider.
now install the mega radio program (it is found on the Mega 651 downloads page for correct version). now when the radio program starts and closes, it should automatically "tick" and "untick" the mute box in the Radio volume slider itself

Zen Vision M Radio simply disappea

Just getting out of the car yesterday and wanted to continue listening to the radio program I'd been listening to the car, and I spent 5 minutes looking for the radio function, and it was nowhere to be found!!!!
What's going on?

Welcome to the wonderfull world of Creatives crap firmware!!! I updated my firmware and bam my FM radio was missing, it's no where.
I've cold booted, gone into recovery mode, reformatted, and reinstalled firmware/WMP liscenses. Nothing. Called the "support" team only to be told that I would have to send them my unit, which in turn I was responsible for the payment of shipping to them - and then in 4-8 weeks I would get the same unit back refurbed.
Call me a cynic, but something I just paid $300 for should probably work for longer than a week before completely crapping out. I decided not to spend my money to ship it back to them, and instead just pray for a 3rd party firmware that actually works (there are 3rd party firmwares out now that add gap-less playback and a bunch more features.)
You won't get much help here - there are mods that essentially just spit out the same phrase repeatedly - "we can't help you call customer support" In the meantime I've informed everyone I know to stay away from Creatives players (as if they had a choice, you literally can't find the Vision M in ANY stores in the Chicago-land area.)

30G ZEN VISION M - RADIO & ALBUM ART - HELLLLLLLL

Right then, guyz n galz, I have recently acquired this device and a cracking piece of kit it is too. However, one major problem and one niggly thing.
The major problem is the radio, I cannot get it to find any stations at all - yes I have connected the headphones. I have tuned it in to frequencys i know are correct (Radio , 2 etc) but nothing !? I also notice when the radio is selected it says at the top MONO ?
The niggly thing is album art. When I got the device, there were a couple of albums already uploaded and they displayed album art. I uploaded my music, but no album art is displayed. The art is displayed in my music folder on my PC and on WMP . I transferred files via WMP. I then tried to drag and drop files direct from my folder. Whilst the files went across OK, the art threw up a message advising the device wouldn't be able to display on the player but could be put into the photo library for viewing. I OK'd this and sure enough, all the album art is in the photos folder ? Any ideas ?
Finally, is there a stop button on this player or do you just switch off and then it resumes at where you left it when you switch on ?

Hiya Richard, thanks for that - I will have a play around with the album art thing later, but just noted that a firmware update is required. I have just downloaded the latest version (after I uploaded all my music) DO you think the problem was that the firmware I had on there was version .40 (I think) and so now, with version .62, it should be OK ?
Regarding the radio thing, nothing !!? I have tried everything - middle of the garden, upstairs out the window, uou name it I've done it to try and get a reception. Its just not picking a thing up at all. Autoscan just runs and then finishes without setting one station.

Connect radio tuner to garageband

I want to archive an opera radio broadcast to my Mac.
I initially thought of using my tape deck to record it and then use an RCA audio cable, via an iMic, to transfer to GarageBand.
My Apple Store said I didn't need the iMic, but could connect the audio cable directly into the 'audio in' port on the back of the Mac. They also said a USB connector would be better than the 'audio in' port (contradicted by AppleCare, as described in next paragraph).
I could use the iMic USB connector but it is 10 years old and not USB 2.0, and the Apple Store said I could get a seperate USB connector . . . however, just speaking to AppleCare Helpline they said the 'audio in' port would be better than USB !
I am seeking advice on the following :
- should I use USB or 'audio in' port
- if, as advised in the Apple Store, I initially go 'New Project' and select 'Voice', do I leave 'Tempo/Signature/Key' as they are at '4/4 120 bpm/C major' ?
- if, as also advised by the Apple Store, in the new 'Song' I click on the '+' bottom left and select 'Real Instrument', what options in 'Instrument Setup' do I select?
- do I have to select 'Recording Level', or actively select any other factors ?

The radio is a 'seperate' Denon, connected to other 'seperates' linked to an amplifier, and doesn't have a volume control. So I'm not clear what to do with recording level.
Particularly as in the GB window there are recording level displays in three different places, at the side of the track, at the bottom right where 'Input Source' and 'Monitor' are, and next to the 'time/measures' indicator, so I don't know which one/s I should set.
There is also an option for 'Automatic Level Control'. However, if I check it the 'Monitor' is switched off and I can't hear the radio broadcast; but if I then select 'On' in 'Monitor' the 'Automatic Level Control' becomes un-checked.
Apparently significant controls also appear elsewhere, such as in System Preferences 'Sound' where there are Input and Output volume settings for the selected device; as well as in GB Preferences Advanced 'Audio Resolution' (where I have selected 'Best').
I would appreciate any clarity you can shed.
The other responder to my request suggests GB can be erratic and unreliable, and suggests using instead an audio editor such as Audacity or SoundStudio. The latter is an Apple product so I am inclined, if I have to, to go for that, but it is a bit pricey.I would appreciate your opinion.
