Visited Color links=Firefox 10=CSS required ?

Firefox 10
Color Visited links...I read how the instructions on how to "Go into options and uncheck the "web page choose their own colors" but the pages get really get messed up looking *losing their colors and format appearance.
I read where you have to make a usercustom.CSS file and then make a chome dir underneath firefox profile. *visisted links=red" for the command to load.
Can somebody give details instructions on what directories I have to make and under profile so my visited links have changed color. I'm an old guy and I really need help remembering what links I clicked on before. Where do I put the CSS, name of CSS?
or is this something that can't be done anymore with the new ver of Firefox,, Coloring links worked with older ver of Firefox but not now without messing up the whole web page appearance. HELP and old guy.. :) Thanks

Allowing websites to use their own colors works fine on 99.5% of the websites out there. Setting your own custom prefs via a '''user''' file can get complicated, and doing it for specific websites would involve a userContent.css file. userChrome.css would affect all websites you visit and might cause problems with conflicting preferences.
Firefox 10 does a fine job of remembering and displaying '''visited''' links for every website I frequent, as long as browsing history / the cache isn't cleared.
You aren't clearing browsing history when Firefox closes, are you? <br />
Options > Privacy -> History = '''Firefox will: ''remember history'' '''

    web links do not show as visited according to my color selection in content menu. visited sites/links should be in red, mine are not changing after a visit to a sits. A good example would be a visit to a news article in google. mu colors are set to res for visited sites - it does not happen, in fact nothing changes

    Google is using a visited color (#551a8b) that is hardly distinguishable from the unvisited color (#2200cc), so may not notice it.
    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
    You can look at these prefs on the about:config page to make sure that you keep history.

  • Visited Google Links No Longer Change Color

    On my preferred browser Safari 4.1.3, visited Google links no longer change color from blue to violet.  Any fix other than upgrading OS and Safari browser?

    Hmmm, still works in Safari 4.0.4 here.
    I think I'd clear the caches, with one of the many apps that do so, I prefer Applejack...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667/applejack
    After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
    Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
    At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
    The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
    Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
    First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
    Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

  • How can I make FF use custom visited/unvisited link colors but allow the website to choose the other text and background colors?

    websites often choose colors that I have trouble distinguishing between but overriding the other colors can cause color defects on certain websites.

    Add code like this to userContent.css in the chrome folder.<br />
    There can however still be problems with clickable elements that use background images.
    Remove that link from the history to restore that background image.

    You can use the ChromEdit Plus or Stylish extension to have easier access to the customization files.

  • Visited links using Safari on my iPad 2 won't stay the "visited" color

    Visited links using Safari on my iPad 2 won't stay the "visited" color after I close the tab, put the iPad in sleep mode (or whatever it's called), or when I power off the iPad.
    There are certain sites I visit where it comes in very handy to be able to see which links I've already clicked on. The links will stay the "visited" color during the time I'm on the site, but later they all go back to the "unvisited" color.
    Is there any way I can fix this on an iPad?

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Color of opened document's url not changing (visited color)

    Hi guys,
    Just like a visited url is presented with a different color in browser, i want document links in my SharePoint libraries to take a different color when a user clicks on them so that later on the user can easily distinguish which documents he/she has already
    opened. At the moment, i see all document links in the same blue color.
    The browser in question is IE8 and I have already tested with disabling the option "Use Windows colors" in Internet Options. Any other suggestions.
    Thanks,

    You should be able to override the css by
    a:visited{<value>} or td.classname a:visited{<value>} it depends how
    the style looks like.
    a:link { color:#FFF; }
    a:visited { color:#000000; }
    IE Developer Toolbar is a good tool to gain the css style.

  • How to assign a class for different colored links

    Hi. I'm new to CSS and HTML and Dreamweaver. I'm trying to
    get links to be different colors within the same page. I have a
    navbar with a CSS style that I've assigned colors to all my links
    there. They work. But if I attempt to change the links in the main
    content it screws up the navbar links.
    So, now, I'm trying to assign the different colors to the
    links in the main content. I have the link color down but I can't
    seem to get the visited, hover, active to work.
    So, I read somewhere you have to assign a class to be able to
    have different colors for your links on the same page. There is a
    class assigned to the links I want to change but it only assigns
    the link color, not the visit,hover,active colors. I don't know
    where I am supposed to put the code so that only the main content
    links are changed. Here is what I came up with from reading and
    studying. Can somebody tell me what's wrong with it and where I am
    supposed to put what in each page? This is just a CSS style page I
    made and I have no idea if I even did that right. Then, I can't
    figure out how to tell each page to include it for that class only.
    Thanks.

  • How do I set a 2nd Links Style using CSS

    This might be a very simple question to everyone else, but I
    am a very simple novice!
    I have set up the link style for my webpage (see below), but
    I want to add some different links in a different style on the
    page.
    a:link {
    color: #3CCCFF;
    text-decoration: none;
    a:visited {
    color: #3CCCFF;
    text-decoration: none;
    a:hover {
    color: #FF339A;
    text-decoration: underline;
    a:active {
    color: #0099FF;
    text-decoration: none;
    I have set up a different text style (below) and would like
    to create link styles off of this (ie. same size and weight) but
    with different Link, Hover, Active, Visited styles.
    h3 {
    font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-weight: lighter;
    font-size: 9px;
    color: #ACACAC;
    line-height: 18px;
    margin: 0px 0px 0px 5px;
    Can this be done? If so, how do I add it to the CSS and the
    HTML document?
    Hope this makes sense and that someone can point me in the
    right direction,

  • How can I make multi-colored links change their rollover or hover color?

    I have made links with seperate colors using css, but the links with new colors have no hover property. I want these links to change color when the cursor hovers over them the same way the other links on my page do. I have tried making a new css rule for <hover> and tried writing the property into the css code but to no effect. I have searched the web and this forum for an answer and found notheing that works. Does anyone know how to give links with multiple colors a hover property that will make them change color? All of my other links change color as defined in the page properties, but the links with new color rules don't change color anymore. This is probably pretty basic. I'm new to DW, using CS6. If anyone can provide a step by step and show where the code should be inserted, this would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!

  • Getting Rid of Standard Colored Links Around Image Links

    I have included several images on my CS4 Dreamweaver site
    that link to other pages, sites, etc. when clicked. An unexpected
    and annoying standard blue (active), purple (visited), etc. link
    border appears around the image when viewed in IE and AOL browsers.
    These do not appear in Live View in CS4. How do I get rid of this
    annoyance?

    .oO(DWFAQ.info)
    >Who's to say what's correct and much easier?
    The W3C and the HTML/CSS experts here and elsewhere.
    >Not simple if you want some image links with border, some
    without.
    Still simple.
    >To each their own.
    The 'border' attribute is deprecated for a reason. It's not
    only old
    style, but also bloats the code, because you have to apply it
    to each
    and every image. A hundred images, a hundred 'border'
    attributes. Quite
    a waste of resources, which also makes the markup harder to
    maintain.
    With CSS you just need a single rule to give every image link
    on every
    page on the entire site the same default style, usually
    borderless. If
    you then want some links differently - nothing easier than
    that. Either
    apply a class or ID to them for individual styling or to
    their parent
    element to access an entire group of links at once, for
    example all the
    buttons in a nav bar:
    a img {border: 0}
    #nav a {border: 2px outset #F00}
    That's it. Easy, flexible, efficient. Once you've learned
    about the
    power of CSS, you don't want to miss it anymore. Deprecated
    and
    inefficient markup was yesterday (or better last century).

  • Black color link change to something else

    How can I replace the black link to some other link color from the process chains between the Start and the Load data objects? When I use the black links, I would get an error message to say that there are too many processes and not enough background processes: "Too many parallel processes for chosen server".
    Can the blank color links be used between the Start and the Load Data objects? I have about 5 to 6 Data Load objects to connect between.

    Hi,
    The Link connecting Start Process and subsequent Load process will always be Black.
    The Other Link colors defines as per the following
    Green
    A link is displayed in green if the event is triggered after the process that precedes it has been completed successfully.
    Red
    A link is displayed in red if the event is to be triggered when the process that precedes it has been completed with errors.
    Gray(link with Both Red and Green Circles)
    A link is displayed gray if the event is to be triggered after the process that precedes it was successful or not. When such a link originates from a process, only such links can originate from this process. Refer also here to Documentation for Possible Links.
    Black
    A link is displayed black when the event is triggered after the preceding process was completed and the system cannot tell whether the process was successful or not.
    <b>You can change the Color by removing the Link(right click on link and remove) and again while connecting you will get all the Three Options(green, red, Grey(red and green) Except Black color)</b>
    Hope this helps,
    Sudhakar.

  • Dreamweaver very slow when linking to external CSS style sheets

    I'm working on a site on my PC using Dreamweaver CS6.  When I link to external style sheets, Dreamweaver virtually grinds to a halt.  Just clicking from one line to another can take up 10 seconds.  My PC is high spec, i3720, stripes set drives and 32gb ram.
    I have tried deleting the cache no change.  The external css files are part of the site and the site has been rebuilt .  Can somone help with this as it is seriously impacting my ability to use Dreamweaver.

    Hi Murray, the RAM comments were irrelevant, pointless. 32GB RAM vs 4GB RAM?  Sorry, I worked at Microsoft and as a systems integrataion consultant for a number of years.  32bit programmes don't access RAM the same as 64bit, but, having 32gb with a 64Bit OS means RAM usage for a 32bit programme is better managed. Programmes and data files are on seperate drives.  My data files kept are on 3 disk stripe sets.
    The CSS files and the HTML file are on the same drive.  AS an example of performance for data read/writes, I also use Photoshop CS6 to edit images in excess of 2gb in size containg multiple smart object, and I dont experience this type perormance lag.
    In this case, RAM is mainly irrlevent because the file are small, approx 200kb total combined size.  I mentioned RAM in my initial post because any time I've had problems with Adobe products before, I've always been asked how much RAM I have.
    So, can we please drop RAM, and perhaps focus on the problem....
         Dreamweaver, regardless of what background processes I have running, regardless of how much RAM I have, regardless of where the files are kept, has a significant performance hit when editing an HTML file with links to multiple CSS files.

  • How to set background ChoiceBox item color to ChoiceBox with css?

    How to set background ChoiceBox item color to ChoiceBox with css?
    I need to change items list backgound color.
    I tried with following code, but it doesnt helps:
    .choice-box .context-menu {
      -fx-backgound-color: red;
    .choice-box .menu-item{
      -fx-background-color: red;

    In Java 8, either of your selectors should work.
    In Java 7 (JavaFX 2.2), you need the following workaround:
    #choice-box-menu-item {
         -fx-background-color: red ;

  • When I click on some links, Firefox tries to open a ton of new tabs... I have to force quit. How can I stop this?

    Sometimes when I click on a website link, Firefox goes crazy with trying to open new tabs... it keeps going until I force quit. How can I stop this?
    == This happened ==
    A few times a week
    == I clicked on a link

    See [[Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows]]
    You can have infinite tabs opening if you have selected Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an ''Open with'' download window.
    Firefox should not be selected as the application to handle a file and you have to remove the action that is associated with that file type.
    You can delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/mimeTypes.rdf mimeTypes.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset all actions or set that action in Tools > Options > Applications to 'Always Ask'.
    See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions ("File handling in Firefox 3 and SeaMonkey 2" and "Reset Download Actions")
