Visited links don't change color

Something I've done in the past 48 hours has caused Safari to not change color for visited links (this is still working fine on FireFox). I tried creating another user account and it works fine with that...just not with my account.
I've done all the typical things...repaired permissions, repaired disk, completely reset Safari to default and made sure all caches, etc. were cleaned out...both manually and with Onyx, reset associated .plist files.....nothing helps.
The only thing I've added to the machine is WebKit, but I tried uninstalling that as well, cleaning out all its associated files...but that didn't work. Returning to a Google search page still shows all links as blue.
Any ideas? I really don't want to do a complete reinstall...I just spend a week getting this new MacBook the way I want it and I have a lot of apps on it.
Thanks!
Larry

Thanks, Dimaxum...I've already read this thread, and every other thread about the subject on the internet. I am totally convinced this is a Safari issue because the links have always changed color for me using FireFox...always.
I'm sure there could be other situations where something else caused this problem and it was apparent on both browsers, but not in my case.
On my wife's Mac this is not a problem on Safari...it's something in my User folder causing it. For now I've just made FireFox the default browser and I'll keep searching. Or the next time I wipe my hard drive and rebuild everything (I do this every six months or so...old Windows habit that isn't necessary) I'm sure it will work fine then.
I was at the Apple store yesterday and tried several Macs there...they all worked fine. This is just somethiing on my machine.
Thanks for your help.

  • Some visited links don't change color

    on some of my hyperlinks (that go to other pages in the same
    file) don't change color after they've been visited... example:
    they start out regular "hyperlink" blue... then after visiting they
    should change (e.g., to purple) but they don't.
    I read in the knowledge base that for popups, the color WON'T
    change because of a javascript issue... however, the "non changing"
    links are not always for pop ups... as stated above.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks...

  • Visited Links Do Not Change Color

    My visited links do not change color.

    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the ''Browsing History''.
    * Make sure that the History is set to at least 1 day: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least"
    * Make sure that you do not start Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed, see [[Private Browsing]])
    * To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"
    You can look at these prefs on the about:config page.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days (180) (also affects saved form data)
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days_min (90)
    To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

  • Visited iPad 3 search links don't change color in Safari

    The iPad 3 (iOS 5.1) Safari search links returned from a Yahoo or a Google search don't change color after visiting them like they do on the iMac. Is this a known behavior?

    Choose Settings > General > Reset, then tap Reset All Settings.

  • Visited download links don't change color (but do in FireFox)

    I have a mass amount of files to download listed on a Web page.  When I click the link, the file downloads, but the link on my downloads page never changes colors to note that the link has been visited.
    Is this a bug and is there a work around for my HTML page?  Currently I'm using javascript to change link colors.

    Thanks for the input.  I tried that, and it didn't work.  It appears to work for everything else - just not download links.
    Here's an example of my links:
    <a href="http://cdn.setxvideo.com/001.MTS" target="new">001.MTS</a>
    in my header is
    <style type="text/css">
    a:link {background-color:#B2FF99;}    /* unvisited link */
    a:visited {
    background-color:#FFFF85;} /* visited link */
    a:hover {background-color:#FF704D;}   /* mouse over link */
    a:active {background-color:#FF704D;}  /* selected link */
    </style>
    Again, they work correctly in FireFox but not Safari.

  • Visited links no longer change color?

    my visited links in  search have suddenly stopped changing color? how to get back to color after visiting?

    I had this problem (or similar). Links changed color as I clicked them, but if I reload the page with all the links, they're all back to "unclicked". None of the above fixes helped.
    Things started behaving properly after I disabled all add-ons (and removed ones that were outdated), then re-enabled them one at a time. I can't get the problem to reoccur, so I don't know exactly what add-on was causing it.

  • Searched links don't change color

    Links I've already searched (inGoogle) used to change color. They no longer do.
    I've tried dong the reset but it makes no difference.
    What else can I do?

    Make sure your OS X software is up to date.
    Click the Apple  top left in your screen.

  • Google Links Don't Change Color

    Frustratingly, the links on Google search pages within Safari do not change from blue to purple after visitation. Can anyone help me to remedy this?
    Thanks!
    Dave

    Quit Safari, Go to Home folder/~Library/Preferences
    move the com.apple.CharPaletteServer.plist file to the<DESKTOP.</b>
    Under the Blue Apple restart your machine.
    Do a Google search do the links look visited ? If yes :
    go back and SEE if the file recreated itself.
    If not put the file back in the Home folder/~Library/Preferences
    Check the search again do the links work right? If not Move the file
    back to the Desktop.
    DO NOT TRASH the file .
    Leave it there for some time. I left it on the desktop for a couple of hours or so continued with searchs on and off, links worked as expected.
    ~ • ~ ~ • ~ ~ • ~
    As i said I did move the file back into the preference folder because the file still had not recreated itself. The Links continued to work correctly after i put it back into the prefernce folder.  I am not sure why it worked, however it did work.

    I am leaving this in case it does work it did then it doesn't. I just did a google search again and the darn LINKs are not changing, I am now thinking it is something to do with GOOGLE as Dale said, I just do not know what since the new window deal did not work. This is frustrating at the least.
    I moved the file back to the desktop but did not do a restart i have to go to work no time.

    No it wouldn't. It would mean any text inside a
    class='Accordian' would be
    blue, as would all links on the page. Surely you meant -
    .Accordian a { color:blue; }

  • Visited sites don't change color

    I have latest version. Default should be to change hyperlink color after visiting. This is not occurring in Firefox. Why?

    Is the problem on all pages, or specifically on Google results pages?
    If you reload the page with the apparently unvisited links (menu > reload), does Firefox correct the styling to show they were visited?

  • Visited links will not change color in FF 9

    Just upgraded to Firefox 9.0.1. When I click on a hyperlink, the color of the anchor text does not change. It remains the default blue rather than changing to purple, even though the settings in options>content>colors indicate that the color of the link should change.
    Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?
    Charlie

    Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Firefox/Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed)

    Make sure that the History is enabled:
    *Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" > Remember my browsing history

  • Visited links sometimes don't change color, sometimes do, at the same sites.

    I am using Firefox 4.0.1 under Win XP. Under Options/Content/Colors, the color of unvisited links are blue and visited links are purple. However, when I visit a link by clicking on it, the link temporarily changes color but after I visit the link and return to the original page, "'''''sometimes'''''" the link has reverted to its original blue (the unvisited color), and "'''''sometimes'''''" the color becomes the color it should be -- purple for a visited link. Using IE, the color always changes as it should.

    Thanks for the input.  I tried that, and it didn't work.  It appears to work for everything else - just not download links.
    Here's an example of my links:

    a:hover {background-color:#FF704D;}   /* mouse over link */
    a:active {background-color:#FF704D;}  /* selected link */
    </style>
    Again, they work correctly in FireFox but not Safari.

  • Visited Google Links No Longer Change Color

    On my preferred browser Safari 4.1.3, visited Google links no longer change color from blue to violet.  Any fix other than upgrading OS and Safari browser?

    Hmmm, still works in Safari 4.0.4 here.
    I think I'd clear the caches, with one of the many apps that do so, I prefer Applejack...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667/applejack
    After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
    Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
    At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
    The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
    Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
    First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
    Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

    Here's the error message I get.
    Note the TC is connected to my Airport Extreme via ethernet and my iMac is also connected to the AX via ethernet so it's not a wifi issue.
    I can see the TC in the finder so it's not 'gone' from the network either.
    Also note that just then the TM system pref pane was claiming a backup error, citing my 'network password' and still refusing to backup.  I waited 5 minutes and did some tidying of my office while I pondered this and then tried again and voila it worked ok.

  • Visited Sites do not Change Color

    Since the recent Safari upgrade, the sites I have visited do not change color.  For example, if I do a Google search, click the first link and then either use the back button or the refresh button in the Google search field, the site I just visited is not displayed in a different color.  This is happening on other sites as well but not all of them.  Project Gutenberg works as I expected.
    Any suggestions on how to fix this?  It makes searching more difficult since I now mentally have to keep track of which sites I've visited.  I realize this problem has cropped up before, but the answers are from several years (and versions) ago.
    Thank you in advance for any help you can give me,
    Frank

    You can use code in userContent.css or use the Stylish extension to override the page colors.
    I use code like this:
    <pre><nowiki>a:visited {color:#e08!important;background-color:#eee}
    a:visited * {color:#e08!important;outline:1px dotted red!important;outline-offset:-1px}
    a:visited img {background-color:transparent}
    </nowiki></pre>
