Visitor entitlements have disappeared in Web Logic Portal console

Hi all,
Please help! We have an issue whereby our users no longer have permission to access parts of our web application. Upon further investigation, when looking in the Portal console under visitor entitlements, we see the following message:
There are no visitor entitlement roles to display.
We have checked the portal database, and can see the roles are still in there, but aren't being retrieved by the application. We can also add new roles through the console, which are persisted in the database, but these too do not show in the console.
This had previously been working, and we are not sure what has changed.
Please advise what further information I can provide to help resolve this!
Kind regards,
Mike

  • Web Logic Portal

    Hi All
I installed SOA middleware, and installed web logic server, I want to install WLP to use portal technology. I read some articles about installation and upgrading, but I didn't understand anything. :(.
Can any one help me please in how to install or upgrade my WLS installation to the version that contains the Eclipse IDE???

    Hi
    1. Weblogic Portal 10.3.2 DOES include internally Weblogic Server 10.3.2 also. Infact any Weblogic Portal version includes Weblogic Server with same version and additionally all Portal related stuff. SO all you do is, just install Weblogic Portal 10.3.2 in a new Home. There is NO Need to install Weblogic Server separately like WLS 10.3.4. Infact even if you install WLS 10.3.4, you CANNOT install just Portal on top of this.
So uninstall WLS 10.3.4. And install WLP 10.3.2 and you are all set. After installation, you can see that the folders of WLP 10.3.2 do include all WLS stuff also.
And as mentioned, right now there is no Portal that works with WLS 10.3.4 as far as I know. All you have is just WLP 10.3.2 and you have to use only this version that includes WLS 10.3.2 internally.
Finally, the error you are seeing is a valid error based on my above explaination. You are trying to install WLP 10.3.2 on WLS 10.3.4 and this is what it complains. Worst case, you can install WLS 10.3.2 and top of this WLP 10.3.2 and choose existing home. But there is no need for this. Just install WLP 10.3.2 alone.

First of all, I think this is a wrong forum. You had better use WebLogic Application Server forum - WebLogic Server - Upgrade / Install / Environment / Migration
From the error: Address already in use: JVM_Bind one can guess that some config of your Node Manager is wrong.
Note that you don't necessarily need the Node Manager to start WebLogic apps - it is necessary only if you want to use the Weblogic Console.

  • Web Logic 10.3.6 (64bit) - Could not load the sitemesh filter and library

Installed Web Logic 10.3.3 (32bit) and Java JDK 1.6.0_21 (32bit) in a customer's server (Windows Server 2008 R2 and 64-bit Operating System). The web page can be displayed with header and side menu.
However installed Web Logic 10.3.6 (64bit) and Java JDK 1.6.0_31 (64bit) on that same server. • Start Web Logic 5.1 in a separate JVM

    Hi All.
Is there a way to start Web Logic 5.1 in a separate JVM from within a java class.
I am writing a service pack for a Web Logic application. During the service pack
uninstall, I have to stop web logic, delete the new files, restore old files and
    restart web logic.
For restarting, I am using a JNI call to invoke the web logic startup class. This
runs in its own java.exe process. But even after the uninstaller's java.exe quits,
the java.exe that is running web logic holds a lock on to the folder from where
    the uininstaller was launched.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Is there a solution to this issue?
Your help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Jai

In your function that you call with JNI, before you launch the new WebLogic
process, you should set the current working directory to the WebLogic
directory and everything will work fine.
I have no explanation for why the directory remains locked.

  • LDAP in web logic console vs. bi publisher admin screen

    Hello,
what is the advantage of setting the LDAP in the weblogic admin
console vs. the bi publisher admin screen? Can move LDAP users into groups that I define in the web logic admin console or the bi publisher admin screen?
I am not talking about the embedded ldap but the ldap server that is part of the infrastructure independently from oracle.
thanks for any answers and a nice easter break.

Well, glad you got soemthing. Now I try to be more "properly" for you :)
    Good that you are trying.
The LDAP users do not show up in my Web Logic console. Is a functionality available to allocate the LDAP users to Oracle user groups in web logic or do I expect too much?LDAP = what in your case, do you mean Active Directory .? or any other LDAP directory .?
You need to configure that in weblogic as one of the authentication providers if you have not done so yet, otherwise they cannot magically appear in WLS console.
So I am assuming you are expecting too much if you have not configured and trying to look for LDAP users. Let us know if you have already configured one but having trouble managing these users.
If the functionality (allocating LDAP users to groups) exists in the oracle web logic console,Even though you configure LDAP users in WLS , you cannot assign LDAP users to LDAP groups in WLS since you have to do that in your LDAP not in WLS.
why does this functionality also in the Oracle BI Publisher Admin screen?Oracle BI Publisher security is managed by Fusion middleware security model not Weblogic , so to get the LDAP users to BIP you need to integrate OBIEE security to BI Publisher.
Hope this helps. ! Mark if it does.

just to run on an AIX box. Should we be thinking about using a Sun or NT box
    instead?
Are there any other gotchas that we need to be looking for when specifying our
hardware? Does anyone have a matrix to help spec the expected memory, disk I/O,
and CPU power required for an EJB based application. I understand that this is
largely dependent on the design of the beans, but there has got to be something
out there that defines a "typical" setup.
    Thanks for you help.

  • Web Logic 4.5.1, AIX 4.3, & hardware recommendations?

I have been asked to spec the hardware for the application server. We are
expecting the load to initially be very small but could grow up to 3000
concurrent users. We are thinking about initially going with an IBM H50, dual
processor (332Mhz 604E Power PC chip), 1 Gig of memory, running AIX 4.3.
We have concerns about web logic's support on AIX, it states that it is only
certified on JDK 1.1.6. Does anyone know if JDK 1.2 is supported? I believe
their is a JDK for 1.2 on AIX. We are uncomfortable about moving back to 1.1.6
just to run on an AIX box. Should we be thinking about using a Sun or NT box
    instead?

We have a Capacity Planning Guide that should help you in sizing your hardware
setup. It will soon be available off our website (with the rest of the docs) ...
but in the meanwhile, pl contact your sales rep for a copy.

After upgrading to Yosemite web icons in Safari bookmarks have disappeared. Anybody know how to reset this?

    Hi ..
The webpage icons database may be corrupted as a result of the upgrade.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Safari/WebpageIcons.db
Click Go then move the WebpageIcons.db file to the Trash.
    Quit and relaunch Safari.
It may take up to a day for your webpage icons to re populate.
