  • What happened to new Vista Audigy Drive

Okay, so I check for new Vista drivers (with apps so I can use MIDI and soundfonts!) for my Audigy card every night. I was hopeful when X-Fi drivers were released last week. No Audigy drivers? Did I miss something? WILL there be new Vista 32 drivers with apps for Audigy cards or is CL abandoning them completely?
If CL goes down that path, what X-Fi cards will do MIDI with soundfont apps (like XP soundfont manager - loading soundfont banks into computer memory)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. So much frustration!
    Thanks,
    RM

  • Vista, Audigy LS and the microph

I've upgraded my system to Vista Business, and my sound is working fine with the Audigy LS. However, the microphone jack in the control panel says that it is unavailable. I cannot find anyway to enable, activate or anything. I can see on the boards, that I'm not the only one having serious issues Sound Blaster cards in Vista.
I tried searching through the boards for a fix, but I haven't seen anything.
Does anyone know a fix for this, or am I waiting for a new driver?like everyone else?

    michelinok,
Have you tried headphones or a set of stereo speakers in the green jack and then run the Speaker Settings speaker test? Also, you could try the front (working) speaker plug in the other output jacks (black and yellow/orange).

  • Vista Audigy 2 ZS CMSS

Ive heard that people on the forums as edited the x-fi installer for audigy 2 ZS cards to allow CMSS 2 and CMSS Stereo Surround.. is this true? if so where can i download these from, as at the moment the surround is crap in Vista and i miss my stereo surround?many regards

No you do not get Stereo Surround back. What you get are Microsoft's Enhancements, which are available for other devices, when using Microsoft's default drivers. Here is a description of what the settings do. After reinstalling the drivers with the edited INF file, you should see the "Enhancement" tab in Control Panel>Sound>Playback>Speakers and selecting "Properties" from the lower right corner. You can also go there from the Volume Mixer icon on the taskbar. Basicly, you can now access advanced Bass Redirection options (even redirecting sub?to full-range speakers, if you have correctly configured your speakers' settings?before), a "better than CMSS"? upmixing engine (Speaker Fill) and Room Correction (which is does what the THX Console used to, but automatically). Room Correction I would only recommend if you have an appopriate microphone, otherwise the measurements would be false and it will severely distort your audio.

I'm haveing these problems when playing Aquanox 2 and Tomb Raider : Legend. It starts with a few 'click' sounds, goes on with stuttering and repeating some sounds very frequently and ends in serious game laggs. Curiously I don't have these problems at Oblivion or UT2k4.
I allready tried removeing the soundcard from the system and activating the onbaord sound-device, which at my Asus P5 supports 5. surround sound, too. I ran into the same malfunction. This seems to be a problem of Asus motherboards.
    My System:
    P4 3,400 Mh
    2048 Mb DDR 2 Ram by G.E. I.L.
Gainward Nvidia Geforce FX 6800 GS
60 Gb Harddisk with 8Mb cache by 7200 rpm
So it's impossible that my System is infirior. I allready tried shutting down the HD expansion in the BIOS, but this only provided me a few minutes more, until the noise starts again.
I guess we'll have to turn our questions to ASUS.

  • Xfi Extreme Gamer: Vista 64: Microphone is no

As title suggests, I am using the XiExtreme Gamer in?Vista 64. When I plug a microphone into the 3-way jack, even if I select microphone in the audio console, all I hear is a pulsing noise wjen I test the mic in BF242. Is there something else I need to do? I tried a headset and a stand alone mic.

Good luck, lots of x-fi things don't work right in 64. Most people I know just gave up and use the onboard audio mic instead, less hassle.

  • [Vista x64] Microphone problems with X-Fi and 2.15 drive

Hi guys,?I'm having a problem with the 2.5 drivers on my X-Fi Platinum card, under Vista x64. It seems the microphone inputs (both on the card and on the breakout box) have problems, any recordings stutter and pop rapidly, making any recordings (or voice chat)?quite useless. This issue doesn't occur with the 2.3 drivers. Is there any known solution to this problem yet?My system: e6600 CPU, Asus P5W-DH motherboard (975X chipset), 4GB RAM, 8800GTX, X-Fi Platinum. Thanks.

    hey Darkman,
since I never had this problem with installing this software, I cant really tell whats wrong, but you dont need it anyway to use the x-fi.
but you may want to try one thing, since it crashes at 27% something may still be in use, so check your task manager and close everything that has CT in its name. then try reinstalling again. If that still doesnt work, try to empty your temp folder, its located in documents and settings/user you are/local settings/temp
if that still doesnt work, try maybe something stupid, wait a bit longer than usual and keep the install window in the front to watch the process, maybe your pc is just a bit slowed down by other software so it may take longer than normal

  • Need help with Vista & Audigy

Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help me out. At first, with all the latest Creative Drivers, there was absolutely no option for "What U Hear". I got fed up and uninstalled the drivers completely. When Vista restarted, it began downloading it's own drivers for my SE, which kinda surprised me. For the heck of it, I checked again and wouldn't you know it..."What U Hear" was now suddenly available and works well....by itself. This is my problem. I need "What U Hear" to work AS WELL AS my microphone. I'm stuck with either one or the other. Not good. Is there any conceivable way to record what I hear AND what I say into my mic? I'm open to any solution, even if it means jerry-rigging it some ugly way. Please help?

Kaelthas: I just went iinto Device Manager, and chose to uninstall the drivers. Then Windows prompted me to make sure I want to "Completely uninstall this device". So I said yes. I originally did this hoping to go back to my onboard sound, but when Windows restarted, it automatically began searching for drivers. I was leery about stopping it, so I let it go. When it was done, I checked the Recording tab again, and POOF! What U Hear was available.
I don't know why or how, but What U Hear works. And if I keep the level no higher than 80-ish, there's no static or feedback or any distortion whatsoever.
Now...everyone keeps telling me to mess with the Registry to get mic boost back. I've done this, and the DWORD for MicBoost is now 0x000000 instead of 0x0000000, but it didn't seem to work. My mic seems totally unaffected.

  • Windows Vista Audigy 2 ZS FULLY WORKING see h

Ill be quick about this cause I know like most of you I was banging my head as to how to get this to work. This is what I did and its been playinng for hours without any garble. If you deviate from what I have done, post it if theres a quicker way.
I installed the drivers from the disc that I got with the set, you will get alot of errors but it should still install fine. I would also assume you can DL the orginal NOV9 driver and install under compatability mode. (DL to desktop--->right click---->properties----->compatability and change to XP) install and reboot.
Next, I installed the 2nd driver set (april5) and instead of installing under compatibilty mode, I opened the .exe with WINRAR and went to Drivers---->Support----->i386----->ctzapxx.exe and select "driver install" and leave "overwrite existing drivers" unchecked.
Reboot and let me know how it worked.Message Edited by tripy on 07-3-2005 08:23 AM

Now I have the same card, Audigy 2 ZS, and i used your method, making the first driver install compatable and then extracting the second one but it didnt work. First off when i extracted it i didnt see all those folders, for me i opened drivers and the file you were talking about was there. i installed it and a message came up telling me this driver was older then the one i was currently installing... did it anyways and still didnt work, maybe i am doing something wrong? Still getting Gargling...
Another thing is has this driver effected anyone elses Aol Instant Messanger?

  • Audigy SE probl

    Hi all.
Just installed an Audigy SE board and I've got some problems I need some help with.
I'm running Win XP Pro SP2
Installed the board on a ECS nForce 570 motherboard.
I disabled the onboard audio for the motherboard.
And I have a 4 speaker set up, with subwoofer. (Cambridge Soundworks FPS 2000)
When I do the speaker test, using the Creative speaker settings program, all my speakers are working correctly.
    But.....
When I play a Windows system sound, I only get sound out of 'front' left and right speakers.
When I play a video or mp3 with Windows Media player, I only get sound out of front right.
I already uninstalled all software and drivers, uninstalled the sound card and then reinstalled all of it again with the same results.
Anyone have any ideas as to what my problem is?

Hi there Shelter72?This problem would probably be best solved by creative technical support, follow this link to go to their 'contact support' page:http://us.creative.com/support/custsup/services.asp?I would imagine the problem is that the soundcard conflicts with your motherboard, and there aint much u can do about that!?Hope this helpssupernerd59

  • Creative Audigy 4 Probl

Hi to all, i tried searching for a similar problem iam currently experiencing but couldn't find any.
I have just installed a new Creative Audigy 4 sound card to replace my onboard AC'97 sound card. I have disabled the onboard sound card from the Bios, and also uninstalled the relevant drivers. I then installed the sound card in the PCI slot and started installing the drivers, so far so good. After completing the installation, I went to configure the soundcard, equalisers and stuff so as to arrange the sound, but after a few minutes the computer hangs up and gives me a brief Blue screen and restarts immediately after. Could it be the PCI slot ? or could it be a conflict ? I am not sure, any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ed.
    My Specs:
    AMD Athlon XP 2800+
    2 GB RAM (Corsair)
    ATI Radeon X800PRO (256MB)
    Windows XP PRO SP2.
and hopefully a Creative Audigy 4 soundcard

I'm having the very same problem. Along with that I can't seem to install the latest driver form the Creative site. I get the stop sign and "You have previously installed drivers without rebooting. Please reboot and try the install again" or something to that effect. I try rebooting and it still does the same thing. I not sure if it's a conflict between my onboard AC97 because I uninstalled the drivers for it. PLEASE help. Very frutrating. Can't play my Flight Sim as I like. Keeps rebooting.

  • Audigy 2zs probl

    Hi there,
I've been having an issue with my Audigy 2zs card lately. I transferred it into a new computer (worked perfectly in the old one) and now it works flawlessly for some programs and terribly on others. I'll compare 2 games, Il-2 Pacific Fighters and Rome:Total war. Both are extremely hungry games when it comes to system resources and will happily consume every bit of processing power and memory I throw at them! My Sound in IL-2 is flawless, absolutely perfect. However, when I try to play Rome:Total War the sound goes to crap. I get stutters, crackling, distortion, it's so bad it makes the game almost unplayable (at least with sound).
I tried all the suggestions in the sticky; I reinstalled the card, made sure it's not sharing an IRQ with anything else, turned off all the extra hardware, etc. I am at a complete loss as to why it is doing this.
The games I used are just an example of 2, like I said... Some stuff it works fine on, other stuff it is just terrible (same problem though, on the games it doesn't work with) but these were all games that worked fine with it on the other computer. I don't think it's a system wide problem because it is selecti've as to what it works with and what it doesn't. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Are you using AA when playing Rome Total War? If your graphics card bogs down it may also stall the rest of the system including sound. This doesn't happen in all games due their different working nature, but graphics settings may affect sound settings in others. (or it could be the developer wanted to have sound always synchronised with video, but if the graphics card begins to fall behind it will also cause the sound to stutter).
So play around with your graphics settings to see if it hel
    ps.
PS: Are you getting the problem with all sound options or just with EAX 3.0? Test the other options as well to isolate the problem if possible.

  • Microphone Probl

    Hello,
I am currently experiencing a very odd problem with my microphone. I was using a Realtek 97 onboard audio for a couple of months and my microphone reception was crystal clear and perfect when using Team Speak, Ventrillo, Skype or any other program.
Then I purchased the Soundblaster X-fi Xtreme Audio card, installed it, updated the drivers, ran diagnostic tests and now people can only hear me on my mic if I put it inside my mouth and scream into it.
Why did the sensitivity change suddenly? With my old soundcard I could put the mic on the other side of the room and people could hear my clearly and now with the X-fi card I can only be heard if I go hoarse screaming. I used the +20 boost on the settings, then I turned my outbound all the way up in both programs, I opened the sound control panel and turned the mic up all the way there too, and people still say I'm shispering to them when I'm yelling.
I'm so very close to returning this soundcard and getting another one, which is sad because I've only ever used Soundblaster products in the past and have never had problems before.
If you know what I'm doing wrong, or if it's a common malfunction with this particular card, then please let me know.
    Thank you,
    H0urgass

What does the LED display do in either the console or audio set up in msn, skype etc.
Go into Audio creation tick the Enable Monitor and put the dot in Recording. Talk into mic and see if the LED levels go yellow/red. If not then try a different mic.

  • X-Fi Fatality Microphone Probl

I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion(DR release 2.9.7)and am having problems with mic not working. Most of the time(99.9%), the mic will NOT work at all and when it does it crackles, pops, and sounds like a muffled p.o.s. as it cuts in and out. I have the flexijack set correctly for mic. All my drivers and bios are up to date, yet this problem persists. Mic 2 seems to be working ok, however, the software I am trying to use the microphone with(BF2 & MS FS X) only recognize mic/line . Anyone have any ideas on a fix for this, or if there is one in the works? I've read about some IRQ problems with nForce and X-Fi, any truth to this? If so, why do the IRQ problems afflict only mic and not mic 2? Also, digital I/O seems to work fine when its hooked up to speakers. My onboard audio is disabled. Right now it looks like i bought a $200 turd and I'm very angry. This is the 3rd creative card I've bought and at this point it will also be my last. This is completely unacceptable.
