Vista 64 support for Gamers

Hi, When are we going to see Vista 64 support for gamers? Most gamers are now buying Vista 64 over 32 because of the fact that Vista uses up to .3gb memory at desktop and with modern games using up to 2Gb, only Vista 64 can meet the memory requirements (32 bit can't support 4Gb of installed memory, as it can't address it all. - Install 4Gb and you only get around 3gb reported). Yet I fail to see on these forums any mention of 64 bit support despite a huge take up. The Incrysis forums?have a poll of 24,000 users which shows that 4% intend to adopt DX0 and therefore Vista before Crysis comes out in Q3. Reading the forums, everyone is opting for 64. Same on story Toms Hardware, 64 far more popular as a switch than 32. As gamers are by far and large the biggest purchasers of cards such as the XFI, I'd have thought that 64 bit support would have been a priority. For whats its worth, the current drivers work fine on my 64 installation around the desktop, but presumably will suffer the same problems as everyone else with Movie and game sound decoding. Hence the request for support. (I'm currently waiting on Crysis / Quake Wars before gaming again).

every port will install native under vista x64.   if displaylink isn't picked up then you can download the driver here.

• Vista support for 6310i ?

Some time ago, Nokia announced a Vista Compatible version for PCSuite. However, the Website of my 6310i still indicates only Modem Drivers, but no software to synchonize with Outlook under VISTA.
Is there such VISTA compatible Software available?
When will it come, are there workaroud?
What is currently the latest XP PC Suite for 69810i (supporting also ServicePack 2!)
Thanks for any hints.
Carlo

Unfortunately the 6310i is not supported in newer versions of pc suite. Support for this model stopped a few years ago.
It is highly unlikely that support for this phone will be included in future versions due to the age of the phone.
You could try a 3rd party application like oxygen phone manager to connect to your phone, you can find this using google.

• Moderators: Full Vista Support for Bundled Softwa

I was wondering if creative was going to make available Vista upgrades for all the Software included with the X-Fi Platinum card and i/o dri've, especially Smart Record and the Mixer? I just bought this card after Christmas and now find that all the software is non-existent. The beta version falls way short of the software included with the card. Thanks

It has been said before, but they will update the software to work in Vista AFTER the main work on the driver is done. ETA? Around summer 2007.

• No Vista support for Sle

I see on the driver availability chart that there's apparently "no plan" to offer Windows Vista drivers for the Zen Sleek. What? The Sleek was only released last summer! Come on Creative, I've been a loyal customer - don't tell me that if I want to upgrade Windows I have to ditch my (perfectly working) Sleek!?

Alex: I PMed you the info about running the Xtra in Vista (mainly what to look for on your firmware version and software on your system.) As for the JB3, unfortunately it's well into "obsolete" at this point, I think it was released nearly 5 years ago, maybe more. It was never designed to work with anything like Vista, as Vista was still a twinkle in Microsoft's eye.
A possible solution, the one I personally would use, would be to set up a virtual machine on your system running an older OS, like XP or maybe Win2k, and use it to run the player. Vmware is good for this, as would some other virtualization software I'm sure. I don't have a JB3, so I can't test it myself, but I see no reason it would not work.

• VISTA Support for Multiple Dual Quad Core Processors

Sorry if I missed this in my search.
Does Windows Vista Home Basic support dual quad core processors?
Windows Help & Support:
Under System, you can view the processor type and speed, as well as the number of processors installed, if your computer uses multiple processors.
Yet I see no mention of multiple processors there -- what am I missing?

Hi -g,
all Windows Home versions (XP and Vista) only support one physical prcossor with multiple Cores.
Windows Professional versions (XP Professional and Vista Business+Ultimate) support two physical processor with multiple Cores each.

• Vista Support for Zire 71

My OS is Vista 32 bit and I downloaded the Palm Desktop 6.2.2 to sync my Zire 71. After Syncing, the message tells me everything went OK but none of my information from the handheld was transferred to the Desktop.
When I went through the initial setup for the Desktop I mistakenly put a different user name than what was on the handheld. There was a message that there could be a problem but I couldn't go back to change the user name in the software. So I went ahead and completed the HotSync. Then I changed the user name to match the new name. That didn't work. I went back and changed to the original user name...still didn't work.
I suspect my original data was saved somewhere (there is a backup file) but I can't find it and even new entries into the handheld do not get Synced to the Desktop.
Any suggestions?

Which version of Vista?  32bit or 64bit?

• Vista Support for Jukebox Zen X

My new desktop has Vista but now I find that there are no drivers for my 60GB Zen Jukebox
Has anyone come across any please?
Plus as the Zen has greater than 40GB of music any recomendations for a replacement as Creative don't seem to have ones with big enough disks anymore?
Thanks

I haven't moved my Zen Xtra to Windows Vista yet, but I have seen a number of threads on the topic here. I'd recommend you do a search on Zen Xtra Vista Driver and you'll some hits.
As far as getting more than 60GB on your Zen, I was able to upgrade mine to 00GB by installing a new hard dri've. The Zen Xtra uses a standard size laptop hard dri've.
Here's a link to my earlier post describing what I did:
I'm quite happy with the results.

• BDB support for Windows Vista, WIndows 7 and Windows Server?

Hello,
I examine to use BDB on Windows, and I have a question.
There's a description about supported OSs on the BDB reference guide as follows;
Where does Berkeley DB run?
The Berkeley DB distribution includes support for Windows/95, Windows/98, Windows/NT, Windows/2000 and Windows/XP, via the Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and .NET development environments.
Does BDB distribution supports for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003?
And it will support Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7?
I believe that BDB does not depend on specific function of Windows, thus there's no problem to support them...
Regards,
Akira

Yes, we have a plan about BDB support for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server. Once we are ready, we'll let you know here.
Hi Vit,
For Berkeley DB XML questions, please go to the Berkeley DB XML forum at: Berkeley DB XML
By the way, I learnt there's a XP-compatible mode in Windows 7. You may want to try DB-XML with that.
Best regards,

• No support for dv1000 with vista?

I upgraded (?) from XP to vista ultimate and now have no audio.  "no audio device installed" it tells me.  When I attempt to repair this, HP informs me that there isn't any support for this laptop running vista.  What's up with that?  There used to be sticker on it saying it was designed for XP but vista ready.
There is one more possible cause.... When I installed the vista, I did so on a samsung 320 gig hd that I purchased from a friend.  It came for a Dell XPS something and I still have a problem or two from that.
Now my dvd writter has vanished.  I am about to attempt to reinstall that....

nevermind found my answer here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090114155845AAzvnYB
which basically states you need to go to summary and select Manual Library Management

• 2009, Support for Soundblater Live! 24bit External for Vista and Alchemy

Hey i recently picked up a soundblaster li've! 24 bit external for my laptop running vista32, went to creative website and downloaded the newest 2009 beta drivers for it, and noticed all the features are missing that would usually be there for XP such as volume, EQ, Bass boost etc, and obviously there is no EAX support for vista...
So i tried using Alchemy .008 Uni'versal and although i could add games such as Warcraft 3 to the list the EAX still didn't work in-game.
Are there any 3rd party drivers or programs i could use to make full use of this card?
Any help would be appreciated,
Cheers.

I bought a USB external Surround 5. last week which had a Creative Labs sticker on it saying "Vista Ready - go to www.creative.com to download drivers". Yet having done so I discover that most of the features on the box do not work.
I want it for 5. sound and soundfonts - but both these are missing. If these are not going to be supported (and soon!) please can Creative confirm this. Then I will take it back to the shop (PCWorld UK) and advise them that is DOES NOT DO what it says on the box. I will tell them that they should peel the stickers off - because it is clearly not true that it is Vista ready!Message Edited by markburleigh on 04-27-200704:38 PM

• Windows Vista Drivers for 1820 and 1616 - Lets have some drivers ple

<span class="postdetails">Windows Vista Drivers for 820 and 66
I hate to say this about E-MU but the way they are dealing with Vista Drivers is unprofessional. I am a repeat customer of Creative products and was so impressed by my old Platinum eX that I bought a second to run duals for tons of audio processing. That was back in the day. Then I jumpped ship and tried out an M-Audio Firewire 40. That did not last too long beforei was completely unimpressed. So I came back to Creative... Purchased a 820 in the box. So impressed I turned around and purchased a 66 in the box just 8 months later. Both ran smooth as butter... All until i just recently built my new system designed primarily with audio production in mind.
With a setup like this, who needs a mac?
AMD Athlon X2 x64 Dual Core +6000 3.0 Ghz
2 Gigs Corsair
Samsung SyncMaster 206BW 2" Wide Screen
EVGA NVidia 9700s 256 DDR3 Graphics
SATAs up the yin
and a PCIMIA to PCI Dock
All under Vista Ultimate OEM
And Guess what?
Months into RTM of Vista...
E-MU is caught pushing release dates.
Last month it said they would release beta drivers middle of April...
I waited, patiently I might add.
I waited<waited some more, I try running xp drivers... computer wont even try to install them properly.
My software waits, computer waits, turns into a gameing machine just because my all together 600 dollar investments in Creative are not important enough to leld me the drivers i need to be producti've in what i love.
I need x64 drivers stat. I need them working, I need them installable without a glitch, a hitch, no driver signing problems, no questions, no fuss no muss. I find it ironic that you guys at E-MU are willing to jump right in there and make sure to have drivers compatable for you new products, yet faithful advocats of the most powerful soundcards you have are sitting here dead in the water because you dont find it nessesary to place priority on ready and waiting end users who have purchased long term support buy investing large amounts of moola into hardware from your company.
Come on, its not like the 820 or the 66 are exactly legacy technology. We are talking about Hardware that is only two years old and should be usable for up to 6 years. This is deffinatly a strike against the company and just goes to show where Creative stands.
I have stood by waiting in silence for a very long time.
Now i think my time has come to tell how i feel and i believe there are alot of others out there that feel the same. the only items that do not work soothly are my E-MUs... go figure.
And I have been looking forward to all i can do running both of them side by side.
Oh yes, and that link posted above to the beta news for vista... its a joke. open up your betas, and have a real dev tell us what the hang ups are... At least give us real concreate reasons why it is taking so long.
with that said, when you guys get yoru act together and get me some drivers, I will sit happy as a lark.
My thoughts for today.

Hello Silas,
sorry for my bad english
I already checked that page. On the first time I was trying to install Vista on a clean hard drive. The installation process finishes without errors but after installation Vista shows me a lot of error messages, mostly about unknown hardware. So I installed all available drivers I have found on Toshiba web site. It not helped me too much, hardware problems still remains. I could not find out what exactly causes probles. Finally I decide to install XP and then upgrade to Vista. Now everything seems to be ok. :D
There was some hardware problems but much easier to resolve. It seems to me that Toshiba did not provide all the drivers, for example StarForce Protection drivers. Vista did not recognized this hardware on the first time.
Now it works!

• Creative's Vista support is so bad - My horrible experience

All,?Have used Creative products for years, but how they are handling Vista is bordering on criminal. I do not understand how they basically tell good customers to take a hike with such terribly bad Vista support. Here is my story:?Using my SB Li've card in XP. Works GREAT!? Fantastic card, no problems. Not that old of a card either. Seems Creative will not be making Vista drivers for it. WHY??So go and buy a Audigy SE card. Plug in, can not get to work. Find there is no Vista driver.
Go out and buy a X-Fi Extreme Audio card, as I saw there was a Vista driver for it. Get home, find out that is not true, only for 32bit, not 64bit.
Wait, find this section. Find the Audigy SE has a beta Vista driver, whoops only 32bit again.
Vista (released version) has been out for several months (I have had my Microsoft Developers Network Release Canidate running now for well over a month). And beta's have been out forever.
There is NO excuse for a company as big as Creative not to have drivers working and ready for all current cards, and fairly recent cards (like SB Li've) by at least the public release date. None at all.
Funny thing, plugged in the built in sound module on my DFI nF4 SLI-DR motherboard (I kept it unplugged while I used the SB Li've card). Booted Vista, and drivers loaded without my doing a thing!? Works fine...

I'm on the side of Creative Labs here, and I'll say what they're probably thinking as they desperately work to get things up to speed for us. For starters, I assumed that if you chose to be one of the first to purchase Windows Vista (like myself), you were prepared to undergo a rocky compatibility period with some of your hardware, and were willing to wait it out. After numerous new versions of Windows....well hell, I figured?we all have come to expect this kind of thing at first launch. I guess I was wrong.
Secondly, I assumed that if you chose to be one of the first to purchase Windows Vista, but you were NOT prepared to undergo a rocky compatibility period with some of your hardware, than you would have perused this website's news, forums, drivers page, etc. for a little while?after the Vista release date to verify that everything?is?going to work?the way you "need" it to before you even put that Vista installation DVD in your dri've. And third....you consumers aren't working in the Creative Labs office. You've never attended their meetings. You've never been in on exactly how much work goes into keeping communication going with Microsoft, and you?dam sure don't know exactly what has to go into making these sound cards work with the types of Directsound changes that Microsoft has made. Don't sit there remotely from your apartment and tell a Creative Labs employee what they've been doing with THEIR time since they got the final info from Microsoft they needed to get to work on the new drivers. You say "fix it!" They say "we're working on it." What the hell else do you want?Fourth....don't forget that there are plenty of Creative Labs employees who have home computers with creative labs hardware in them, and those employees want their stuff working just as much as you. So here's your solution if this compatibility issue is really slowing down your life. Uninstall Vista. Put your XP back on. Enjoy your fully functional sound just the way you had it and meanwhile, keep checking back here periodically for updates on their progress. CL and CL mods.... I trust you. You've been around for years and you've offered up excellent hardware and software for as many OS's as I can remember. I'm not an expert in your field, so I'm not going to sit here, like some, and conjure up some self-gratifying scenario in my head of you guys doing piss poor work when I don't know jack about what it takes to get up to speed, especially if Microsoft has had you switching gears up until November. Your track record speaks for itself. You've always provided the best in sound. Guys, give CL a break. They've earned their stripes. In the meantime, go back to XP or thank them for the beta drivers and the EAX workaround. They did it for YOU. P.S. But Creative...just one thing. For now on, could you try to make your list of drivers and software updates for each card a little less confusing on the drivers pages? The XP driver/softwares sections are a mess! <img height="6[/img] width="6" src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-wink.gif">
