Vista 64 X-Fi Platinum mislabeled as X-Fi Ga

I have an X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion card and i have upgraded to vista64 from 32, and it recognize it as a X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro. I have installed it on fresh vista64 sp installation from the cd. I have tried twice to install only the latest drivers from the web (vista web update 5 2.5.0006) and reinstall from the cd after i have removed the drivers. uninstall from the device manager and used driver cleaner pro. A friend has the same card with vista64 and is labeled correct both in product registration and software auto update, so its not a vista64 issue. Any suggestion why is this happening?
My rest specs
Asus Striker II Formula 780i
Interl Core 2 Quad 9300
8GB RAM Mushkin 000mhz
2xASUS 8800GTX SLI
2xSeagate 750mb RAID
Thank you
EDIT : It seems that the front panel is not working also. Not good

Did you try to reinstall your drivers and callibrate your speakers? That might solve your problem. I have the audigy 2zs platinum pro myself and i have a similar problem on xp 32 bit and the callibration seems to be the answer. But i don't know what is happening on vista 64. If you see my post i have a much bigger problem.

  • No digital sound after Vista upgrade on Audigy Platinum

I finally got around to upgrading my Media Center PC from Win XP to Win Vista Ultimate x64. Following the upgrade and after installing the latest official drivers for my Audigy Platinum, I am unable to get any sound when using the digital out on the sound card. I also made sure to change the Audio Console setting to use SPDIF. If I switch to normal line out, it works fine and digital out worked fine on Win XP.
I tried searching but only came up with threads pertaining to the X-Fi and Audigy 2.
Is there something else Im missing to get this working in Vista?
    Thanks a bunch!!

    Hi there-
I just finally had the chance to install these drivers and I still have no sound coming out when I connect to the digital out of my Audigy card. Again, Ive verified the Audio console has been changed to SPDIF output and still nothing.
Is there something Im missing here? Are there other settings I need to change / set in Vista to get this working? This is very frustrating that this worked without issue in XP and I really dont want to have to go back to it.
    Any help is much appreciated!!

  • FIX FOR 64BIT VISTA SPIDIF (Audugy2 ZS platinum) running to an external

?This is when I want to run my PC to my projector and home theatre amp.
Hello All. Im not an expert on this subject but I have been trying to get spidif to work for frigging ages and last night I actually did. So here goes. Hopefully this information will help other 64bit vista users out there with an Audugy2 ZS platinum.
Things I got before starting: Latest creative drivers, K-Lite 64bit codecs and 64bit version of media player.
In audio console, pick spidif passthrough.
In control panel, Go to speakers, custom tab, and set to digital output only.
Set your spdif out as default. and tick output to 48000hz (i just ticked all of them, but I hear that 48000 is a safe one to aim for). Mine is set to 96000hz.
Now for PowerDVD in configuration pick spdif in the audio tab, mine actually worked now! and for Avis etc with a 5. soundtrack? use the 64bit version of media player (Ive read somewhere that the default 32bit version has issues with 64bit vista when it comes to spdif). Now I watch Avis in 5.!
Hope this has hepled some people and I apologise if this info is somewhere else on the forums.
    Bye

my problems dont lie with the box but with the installation itself, for some strange reason it will not install properly, i have completly cleaned my registry and computer of all S/B files and have reinstalled the software but when it tries to load up i get a error message saying that there are installation files missing, how can this be if i have used an origanal disc to do the install...
I am desparate for some help here guys as there is a lot riding on me getting this back up and runnin, i have a major internet radio show coming up in just over a weeks time that has had a lot of hard work and planning put into it and i really dont want to cancel it all now cos this bleedin soundcard has gone **bleep** up....
please please please can anybody help me....

  • Vista 64 X-Fi Platinum Sound Channel Prob

I have recently bought a new computer, and install a Vista 64-bit on it.
I have some weird problem - sometimes the channels of my speakers just change (I am using a 5. Surround, Logitech Z-640).
By change, I mean that sometimes I can hear from all the speakers, sometimes all of them go off except for one (And it can be any one of them).
I have looked for a solution online, but couldn't find anyone that was experiencing the problem.
Does anyone know what is making that problem, and how it can be solved?
P.S. - On my previous computer I had Vista 32-bit for a while, and I can remember that this problem existed there as well.
    My computer specs:
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
    G. Skill 4 GB RAM (2x2 GB)
    eVGA G-Force 9800 GTX
    Creative X-Fi Platinum

  • Vista + X-Fi Platinum + Z5500 = Dolby Digital H

Sorrry if this is a repost but I've looking around for awhile now and getting alot of mixed responses. Alright... I had some time to kick around and I thought I should give Vista another try. So...
    I've got Vista Ultimate + X-Fi Platinum + Z5500 and running WinDVD 8 Platinum.
Now the Z5500 has a Dolby Digital decoder/Sound processor built into which I would typically use. However When I go into the WinDVD setup... enabling "Digital (S/PDIF) out to External Processor" is blocked out. I can only choose "Analog Sound Card" in the "Audio Output Configuration" Area.
In the Creative Control panel under "S/PDIF I/O" I have set the "S/PDIF input setting" to "SPDIF Bypass"
Any ideas I use this exact setup on XP and works GREAT. Is this a Driver issue I know that SB doesnt support dolby digital but they say on the website I should be able to get dolby digital at the software level (IE: WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.)
Just doesnt make sense to me... Because if I can just pass it through the Logitech Console on the Z5500 will handle it.
I have a feeling its probably right underneath my nose and I just cant see it.
    Thanks!
Edit: I am using Digital Coax.

    Try this,
In vista right click on the audio sound icon and go to
    *Playback Devices*
Highlight Spdif and right click on it and select
    *Set As Default Device*
then shut the window down and open up your winDVD software and see if SPDIF shows up.
if your still stuck Buy PowerDVD, its far far better.

Hey,? I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me which cards have external dolby decoding?because i want to hook my 360 up to my computer speakers. • P45 Platinum & Corsair PC6400-800Mhz

    Hello,
I've some problems since I've bought an upgrade kit for my PC, with a MSI P45 Platinum, an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 & 2gb RAM PC6400 Corsair (I already had 4gb of PC5400).
    My complete cfg :
    -Vista SP2
    -MSI P45 Platinum
    -2x1go PC6400-800Ghz XMS2 & 4x1go PC5400-800Ghz XMS2
    -Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
    -ATI Radeon X1950XT
    -Maxtor 250go & Seagate 500go
    -Antec EARTHWATTS 430W
So, here's my problem : I can boot my PC without any problem if I connect 1go of ram (with about any go). But when I connect an other one at the same time, the PC try to boot and shuts down 5 seconds later. I tried with all dual channels, and it doesn't work. I tried some things with the bios, but I don't understand it very well, so if someone can help me precisly
    Thanks !

Welcome to the forum (forgot to mention that earlier). I just looked up the CPU list for the P45 Platinum. What bios version do you have? Also, do you have the utility CPU-Z? What does it show for 'Stepping Revision'? If your E8400 is an E0 stepping revision, you need at least bios version 1.1 for it to work correctly. I would recommend to update the bios to the 1.5 version using the MSI HQ forum USB Flash Tool.
    Hi,
how do you know which CPU and revision is supported in which bios version? I have a E7300 revision M0 and bios v1.0. Do I need to update a bios in order to get everything work correctly? Cos I haven't had any real problems only twice computer wouldn't from a sleep mode. I am just wondering whether the bios v1.0 is right for my E7300.
update> I actually have modded bios v 1.0B1 which solves DPC latency problem.

  • Response from a long time customer... who will be a long time customer no mo

I just browsed into the forum to get some help because I cannot get a microphone to work under Vista on my XFI Platinum. I also have an Audigy which as we all know has major issues as well and of which does not function under Vista correctly either.
.....And when I got here for some help, I got hit upside the head with this brewing Daniel K controversy.
To say this is unbelievable is an understatement. I became a Creative customer way back with the release of their first products... after being a C-64/C-28/Amiga user for years (still am actually!). Dam how I wish the Amiga were still a main stream system.....
To learn that Creative has, in effect, mislead all of us in such a way that my sound card does not operate properly?because I am running Vista and WITHOUT TELLING ME is completely unacceptable.
And this now explains why I have spent countless hours and days trying to get things working. Problems including crappy sound output (i.e distortion at volume), inability to get a microphone to function, lack of functionality of all the high end features on the card... the reason I bought it in the first place. It makes me extremely angry to know I have spent all this time trying to get things working?only to now find?it has been an entire waste because of your actions with the drivers. I have not?wasted days trying to fix this... I?have wasted MONTHS!Whomever the hell made this decision is an idiot. PERIOD - and I hope he or she reads this and chokes on it.
Your reaction toward someone simply trying to help resolve the driver issues, even if he was asking for donations, was unacceptable as well, in my opinion. You have failed to do anything so someone else did. Of course it made it much worse to find out you PURPOSELY mislead all of us and PURPOSELY disabled features and functions.
Hardware is what you make money off of, not drivers. In the past when I have upgraded, I have simply taken the old hardware and donated it to a good cause that needed it or put it in another older system that did not need the high end specs I was wanting or needing for a new system AND I could count on it function with the drivers because the hardware was still working solid. You should be giving us reason to WANT to upgrade.
I.E. Quality, features, reliability, customer support.
Now, instead you have really screwed the pooch and tried forcing us. You took years of me looking at your products as good, top of line, quality and functional to trash.
What really pisses me off is the nice set of speakers I blew out because of the sound quality output and the massi've noise burst that happened when updating the drivers a couple months ago. That now explains why that happened and I now know it was YOUR fault that this occurred during a driver update and reboot. (at reboot, when windows loaded, the sound blared out at full distorted volume and short of cutting power I was unable to abort it in time).
There is not much more for me to say here that others have not already stated. But I needed to make my thoughts public.
to Creative:? I am not some child or young kid who is just upset because things do not work. I am a 45 year old who has worked with computers since the C-64 as a hobby. Like, I am sure most others here on this forum, I know the insides and outs of my system, how it works, how to configure it and etc etc. Because of your actions and my struggles you have now lost what was a customer you had for the last 23 years or so. This action and your lack of support of your products, your customers and those simply trying to help has now cost you me and my business. I hope that makes you very happy.
Additionally, I will be watching and waiting and should a class action be taken against you for fraud, commercial deception, and false advertising, you can rest assured I WILL be participating.
Just off the top I would say we all have a pretty good argument and case. So if things do take a turn that direction, I am in.
In my RL work, I am in law enforcement. I deal with people who commit crimes everyday out there, people who boldly look me in the face and lie to me outright... Now I get to come home and instead of being able to not worry about being ripped off, taken advantage of and being able to trust companies I purchase from, I now have to think?of them just like those I deal with on the street. Now I have to look at companies like Creative who have also taken the path of boldly and outright lying to me as well. ?Instead of assuming you are honest, now I guess the time has come for me to assume you are lying to me like everyone else does.
What a freaking year... first a certain high end video card maker and their driver issues (won't say who, but will say it is?not ATI) and now Creative. I thought I had seen it all with the video card maker... but this from Creative?!
    This out does everything else.
In the meantime, I am right now making a purchase.... of a competitors high end audio card to replace the X-Fi card currently in my system. Unbelieveable.
    Sincerely,

Amen, I plugged in my first Soundblaster 8 bit card 20 years ago, and the being left without a decent driver for Vista for an Audigy I had less than 6 months hacked me off.... Then I find out they intentionally were not upgrading the drivers to force new hardware purchase? (And I was considering getting an X-Fi)... and now the shear arrogance of the management of creative?
"? O'Shaughnessy admits that Creative Labs intentionally crippled its Vista drivers as a business strategy.
"If we choose to develop and provide host-based processing features with certain sound cards and not others, that is a business decision that only we have the right to make."
I run a business myself, and the correct business decision is one that helps both the customer and the company, not the one that is an blatent attempt to screw the customer.
I only see 2 options for creative to survi've at this point.
One, Apologize, either fix their drivers quickly (in the next week or two) or hire Daniel_K drivers, and distribute his drivers. Key workd is quickly here.
    Two, Quickly offer a rebate/tradein program...and a significant one, not a 0% off sale...at least a 40-50% off sale. ?
I don't expect # 2 because that will be a hard financial hit on a company that is suffering anyway. ? But # will not create as much goodwill.....and goodwill is what creative needs because of the mismanagement of this situation, and the admission that it was done strictly to force purchase of their hardware. ?
Unfortunately, I think in either event, creative is now doomed.

  • DO NOT install this driver for Sound Blaster Audigy SE, or Sound Blaster Audigy Va

I have two creative products that work fine under xp. But since installing vista my sBli've platinum doesn't work at all, i find out that creative are no longer supporting this card for vista. Fair enough... So I'm waiting for the SB audigy driver update and behold I read that i shouln't install the driver for my other Sound Blaster card, Audigy SE.
what are creative trying to do? does'nt look like a well run company.
And from what I've read what is the point of getting a card that is suppoted by the new driver as other people seem to be complaining that this new driver doesn't enable all the features as under Xp.

If I am right your Audigy is the first Audigy (EMU0k2) soundcard that was launched by Creative Labs. You need the drivers for the audigy series. For driver/application updates: Latest downloads Audigy Platinum
For a proper install, you may use the tools Driver Cleaner or Driver Sweeper in Windows Safe Mode to clean up the older drivers that are left in the system which can cause the problems you are having now; you can find these tools at Guru3D (under 'General Utilities').
After that You can install the drivers including the software/applications by using the install cd which is supplied with your Audigy soundcard, and then install the driver updates manually afterwards.
Or you can try out the new Daniel_K's driverpack (software/applications included, install cd not needed): SB Audigy Support Pack 2.8.000EQ (08/22/2008)
    Good luck!

  • 2 things really

Got two things for you guys, a question and a suggestion :
    1. The question - has anyone installed Vista on a 975x Platinum powerup edition? and have you had a problems with it?
    2. The suggestion - MSI do you think you could write your software and utils for x64 systems as well, i know you do the drivers for x64 but it doesnt look like any of the utils/software are done for x64 either that or im just not looking in the right place
    Thanks very much.

    Hi guys,
Thanks for your replies after posting this i did notice a post where someone was having problems installing the beta version when having a intel Pentium D 940 installed, I have the 945 in mine and it sounds like he gets the same problem where after it gets to setup is loading files when it switchs to the screen with scolling bars going let to right it just stops there doing that no matter how long you leave it. Sad to say i got the RTM version of vista and still the same problem, i was just wondering thats all.
I have been testing vista for quite some time along with office 2007 on another machine since the early beta's and now all the way up to RC2 and moving to RTM version very soon, i know it has its glitchs and i wouldnt recommend anyone to play games on it just yet other then that vista is looking to be a very good version of windows with its added security and some nice new fetures.
I will say to those of you that have tried it and thought it was poo when its released and all the proper drivers are out to give it another go, you gotta remember you were testing a beta product.
other then vista not installing i think this mother board is great though, i run windows server R2 x64 on it and it just flys along i play games on it as well such as battle field 2142 and it runs great i use it for my work (IT engineer) and play. not really too bothered about the utils.
    specs if your interested:
    MSI 975x Powerup edition

  • P45 Platinum - Vista works just fine, but unable to get into BIOS

This is my first build, so I'm still learning a lot. Be kind!
I'm using the P45 Platinum with an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz Wolfdale cpu, 2 2gb sticks 1066mhz G-Skill ram, a Corsair 750w PSU, EVGA Nvidia 8800GTS video card, a 74gb WD Raptor HDD and a 250gb WD Caviar HDD (both SATA). I'm currently running 32bit Vista until 64bit has more support.
I have never been able to access the BIOS - before Vista was installed the splash screen was too fast so I kept missing my oppurtunity to enter BIOS, so I went ahead and put in the Vista install DVD. It installed just fine - it doesn't see my second HDD, but I expected that due to it being SATA.
I want to enter the BIOS to disable the audio so I can download the new Realtek audio drivers (I have no sound, even after installing the driver off the CD), but when I start up the computer and hit DEL (when prompted), it takes me to the Windows Boot Manager. Several times I have repeated the process and every time it takes me to the boot manager instead of the BIOS. The BIOS is obviously working, I just can't access it.
    Any help is appreciated.

Simply keep hitting  >DEL< as soon as the Splash screen appears.  If that doesn't help, clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU.  Upon restart the system should hold with a CMOS Checksum error and give you the chance to hit F1 to enter BIOS Setup.  Now you can load "Optimized Defaults" and disable the BOOT LOGO.

  • Creative Audigy 2 ZS platinum Vista Supp

    Guys
    i've a Audigy 2 ZS platinum
I bought a New Windows Vista Ultimate 32BIT
I try installing the drivers from the Driver CD its not supporting
I downloaded the vista drivers from web
and its the most lousiest driver pack i ever saw in my life
Is there any way to enable the full audio console(like THX,EAX,Graphic EQ and speaker settings) for Vista?
Why creative is not up to date with the market...
why no Vista support is available for creative.. weird...
    any brilliant ideas from anywhere?

Exactly how I feel. It borders on the absurd that 5 months after Vista release Nvidia has nothing but garbage drivers and applications for Audigy2.

  • Vista Beta 2 (v5472) + K9N SLI Platinum

Has anyone managed to get Vista installed from scratch with the "K9N SLI Platinum"?
    I tried, 32bit and 64bit. both failed.

I got Vista Beta 2 32-bit installed on K9N Ultra + 4200+ X2, but because of the poweroff-issues of K9N-series, Vista was really unstable. Well, my mobo is RMA'd now, so let's see how's gonna work with the new revision.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Ex No longer working properly under vista

;Audigy 2 Platinum Ex No longer working properly under vistat I have just upgraded to vista and I find my sound card to be no longer functional
I have upgraded all the fri'vers I can find
    SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_8_000.exe
    creative_sbxfi_250002_vista.exe
and a couple of others that SecurityCentre found
And when I open "Surround Mixer" I get "The selected soundcard is not supprted by the application," whatever the hell that means.
Ihave spent all day researching installing rebooting, and cannot get microphone, and all the other functions "what you hear" etc to work.
What must I do to get this perfectly good sound card to work please. Vista has been out for some time now, and I would export supportingdrivers yo have been redily visible.
    Thank you in anticipation.

? I guess Creative doesn't care about living up to the promise that their product is upgradeable as new technologies emerge such as VISTA. They were give plenty of warning, that it was coming out, and it has been out for some time. I guess the $700AUS I spent is down the tubes, because the lazy people at creative cannot be bothered to bring it into compatibility - AS PROMISED with "peace of mind" they said. There is no way that I will acti'vely tell people how good creative is any more. In fact I will be acti've in just the opposite.
Get of your backsides and support AS PROMISED, we deserve it, instead of giving us second rate partial compatibilities. I have wasted the best part of a week trying to get it all sorted, where do I send the bill for my time? Hvae I got sour grapes? No, I just expect decent support as promised.
I issue the challenge - ?Provide decent support and I will retract. Fair is fair. I PROMISE.
