VISTA - Acrobat 8 Error - Windows Installer

Operating System: Vista Ultimate
Product: Acrobat 8 Professional
We have managed to install Acrobat 8 Professional and it works perfectly with this one exception. Every time we start the computer, or click on a hard drive or such like we encounter a Windows Installer pop-up stating that it is preparing to install adobe acrobat 8 it then gathers information and completes
It does this every time the computer starts and at random intervals in-between and as you can imagine this is extremely annoying so much so that at the moment I have completely removed this product from the computer.
How do we fix this problem???
Help
Steve

Ok...here is a little help here--
From this point on...I shall deem this: The UNIVERSAL VISTA HELP GUIDE FOR INSTALLS AND CONFIGURATION OF ACROBAT 8 -- ok...so now it sounds impressive and scarry, here we go
All steps assume that your Vista interface is left on factory, Aero defualts
First off, you must be logged into as an administrator on your machine!! VERY IMPORTANT!!
Second, remove all instances of Acrobat from your system (including reader)
Third, disable IE protected mode
Control Panel>Network and Internet>Internet Options>Security Tab> Uncheck "Enable Protected Mode" (repeat this for all zones)>OK!
Fourth, temporarly disable UAC (Universal Access Control)
Start (or Pearl as MS calls it) > (where it says start search--it is paired up to be your RUN line) type 'msconfig' (w/o quotes)> Enter > Tools Tab> Disable UAC > Launch > close out of the command prompt> OK >restart computer
Fifth, only applies if you have downloaded the trial version of AC8
Right click on the installer/download package> properties> compatibility> Set to run this program in compatiblity mode for "Windows XP SP2" mode > OK
Sixth, run installers
Downloaded versions: Double click as normal to launch (be sure to complete step 5 first)
CD versions: DO NOT USE THE AUTORUN -- its been my experience that the autoruns sometimes have issues -- Follow these steps instead (with the CD inserted of course)
Open up My Computer (or in just Computer) > Find your drive that has Acrobat CD inserted into it> Right click > OPEN > Double click on the folder Acrobat Standard (for standard users) or Acrobat Professional (Pro users)> then launch the AcroPro (Pro) or AcroStan (Standard)
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND COMPLETE INSTALLS for purpose of future updates and also if a repair is needed
Seven, after installation -- IMPORTANT!!
Run Acrobat for the first time and accept the EULA and Activate (if you are provided with a key), then close it
Eight, Print to the AdobePDF Printer to verify its functionality
It does not matter what application, preferably IE though
Nine, Restart system
Ten, reenable Protected mode and UAC
Control Panel>Network and Internet>Internet Options>Security>(in all zones) check the enable Protected mode (except in the Trusted Zones group)>OK
Start>(in the search bar type) msconfig > enter > tools tab > enable UAC > Launch > close the command prompt > OK > restart computer
Finally, test Acrobat again
Launch, Print to the AdobePDF printer and you should be all set

When my downloading until 80%, appear Installation error, "Window installer does not permit updatating of managed advertised product. At least one feature of the product must be installed before applying the update."

What product and version number are you talking about. Is it a trial version, or is it the full or subscription version. If the latter, activate the product with your S/N or Adobe ID and then do the updates.

  • Trying to download update to iTunes in Vista but get Windows installer error. How do I update?

Trying to download update to iTunes but get Windows Installer error.  How do I correct?

    many thanks.
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • ITunes 10.5 Error- Windows Installer Package

Previously, I had iTunes on my computer, but then got rid of it because my iPod got stolen. I now have a new one, but iTunes 10.5 will not install on my computer. When I've tried to install it, right before it was done installing, an error message popped up saying, "There is a problem with the Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I've looked through support topics, but cannot find the solution. Please help.
If it helps any, my computer is Windows Vista Home Premium.

    Go to support.microsoft.com/fixit
In section 2 click on: Install or upgrade software or hardware
Then click on the title in section 3: Fix problems with programs that cannot be installed or uninstall

Let it run and then try to download it again

  • ITunes 10 Installation Error: Windows Installer

I'm sure this is a common issue, but I have yet to even solve this problem and I am in need of assistance. Topic with same issue: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2599360
I have uninstalled a previous version of iTunes to upgrade to iTunes 10. When I finished downloading it, I go into the installation process. Right in the middle of the installation, an error message pops up with this:
+*There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.*+
+*A program required for this install to complete could not be run.*+
+*Contact your support personnel or package vendor.*+
I've tried many solutions while I lurked the internet:
    -Run As Administrator
    -Installed the Latest Updates
    -Updated Windows Installer
    -Cleared Unworking Registry Files
And some I may have forgotten, but I'm sure I covered all of it.
I'm still given the same issue after all that.
Is there something that still needs to be done?
I'm running on an Acer laptop with Windows Vista.

    Thanks for the help, polydorus!
But now I have another issue.
Before I had the iTunes problem, my sister gave me her iPod Touch 3G, which has been synced on her laptop before. I resetted via the Reset Options in the iTouch, then after a reboot, it came up with the iTunes Logo, a +, with the USB iPod Connector. So, I did what it said. I pulled up iTunes and plugged the iTouch in... The iPod Touch doesn't appear on the list. I tried unplugging it and putting it back in, resetting iTunes... then I upgraded iTunes, and now I'm still having the same problem.
So, my question is now... How can I get iTunes to find my iTouch?
I tried uninstalling Apple Mobile Device, but unsuccessfully uninstalling it, I repaired it after being able to upgrade iTunes. Could that be an issue?

When I try and install I tunes 10 i get this error. "There is a problem with this windows installer package a program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact support personnell or package vendor"

I also had this problem, and looked at variatent solutions such as clean unistalls and DEP conflicts within windows itself.  I even talked to the genisus team at my local apple store!! all were'nt able to solve this problem.
However, i done some research into the problem and realised that the problem was with the Apple Update software that is downloaded during install.
so i ran the udate program thing that the computer wants to update itself and ITUNES INSTALLED!  to do it your self before you upset your registery is go to-  C:\program files\apple updates and double click on the blue globe icom and in my circumstance itunes installed.  I hope this helps and i hope Apple would offer me the job better that their own tech guys.

  • Windows 7 acrobat XI window installer error

I have downloaded Acrobat XI three times and get error message
"Unable to find a volume for file extension."
    What do I do?

    Hi cressner,
This error usually comes up when you have insufficient permissions.
Try running the downloaded file as an 'Administrator' and check.

  • CS3 Design Premium - Acrobat error on installation

    Hi,
I have the CS3 Design Premium Suite. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I wasn't having any issues with it. I primarily use Photoshop/Dreamweaver/Flash, but was happy to have Acrobat and the Reader for functionality.
Well, I reinstalled the entire suite, due to issues with Photoshop. I thought it was best to start out clean again, so I installed everything. I do believe that was the beginning of this new issue. :(
When the suite installation was complete, there was an error message. It read:
    Errors 1 Component(s)
Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional (at install older versions get upgraded)
    Component install failed
It wasn't kidding, it really did fail! I can't even use Adobe Reader for my .pdf files anymore. :(
I attempted to uninstall the product and I was unsuccessful in that. I then did a repair/install and got the same error message. I changed the name of the existing Acrobat folder on my computer, so the install would have to create an entirely new directory. The install still fails.
It all worked before and I have not added any new hardware to my system.
I am running Windows XP Pro, SP3.
and for those that know me on these fora this next sentence is unncessary, but for those who do not know me, yes, it's a legit, non-pirated version of the software! ;)
    Thanks for any help!
    Hopper

thanks graf, I'll head over there.
    back ...
I did try some of the suggestions that were mentioned in someone else's post and they didn't work for me. I'll make my own post. I did see something mentioned about issues with SP3 ...
Hey, do you have a link for the cleanup utility from MS (didn't look yet, just thought I would ask in case you had it handy! ;))
    thanks!

  • Windows installation error, i'm in a constant loop!

Im working on a mid-2007 iMac running Mavericks. Trying to install Windows 7, 32 bit using bootcamp (4). After hours and hours of trying problem solve errors of bootcamp unable to partion my disk, I finally got it to work and to the Windows install portion.
During the installation my computer went black and appeared tohave turned off. I pressed the power button and it powered back up. However I can not complete Windows setup. It boots in Windows, and bgeins the setup process but I then get an error that says
"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an error.Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "ok" to restart the computer"
I keep restarting and getting the same error over and over again.
Followed Apple manual's advice and held the option key when rebooting and chose the windows CD, however I keep getting the same error and not sure how to get past this point.
It took me days/hours to finally get my harddrive to partition (after that kept returning an error) and am at my wits end to get this to work.

install gets pretty far. After initial reboot get error message "windows setup could not configure windows to run on this hardware" then the computer shuts off.

  • Windows installer package

    error windows installer package

Please provide more information. This doesn't help at all. For all I know, you could be talking about putting new windows that you bought from Oxfam in your conservatory. Could you send me the details on the box the windows came in? Maybe I'd be able to help...
    Ugh. Potatoes these days...

    Hi Abdallah,
According to your description, could you please post the summary and detail logs for further analysis? By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Usually, the error occurs when the Windows Installer Service is not running or the Windows Installer registry settings are corrupted.  I recommend you reset the Windows Installer Service settings in the registry and restart the Windows Installer Service,
then reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2. For more details, please review this similar
    article.

  • Windows Installer error while trying to install Acrobat Reader 8

I am trying to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 off the CS3 disc. I already have Acrobat 8 Professional (8.2.3) installed. I just need the Reader. Whenever I try to install the Reader I get the following error, "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnal for assistance."
I have tried all the Microsoft fixes for this situation, but I still keep getting the error message. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Nevermind, I figured out what was wrong. I had disabled User Account Control (UAC) when I was tweaking my OS. So I enabled UAC again and was able to install Acrobat Reader 8 without any problems.

  • Can't Install iTunes : Error Message "Installer has insufficient Privileges to modify this File" Running Windows Vista

    Hello!
I am currently having issues installing iTunes on BOTH of my computers. One running Vista, the other, Windows 7.
    (Not the same issues)
I used to have iTunes on my Vista (32bit), but when asked to update the software (The update prior to the newest one), I was not able to.
I dont exactly remember the error message.
Yesterday, I tried to install it again when I realized there was a new update.
I am receiving an error message while trying to install the software that says :
"The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: c:\program files\ common files \ apple \ apple application support \ webkit. resources \ inspector \ images \ warnings errors.png
I have tried almost everything I knew to do.
Downloaded itunes setup, extracted the files and tried to install them all separately.
Then I had issues UNinstalling Apple Support and Mobile devices!
Tried something with the registry (not too sure what. I read it on this website)
Tried to Force Uninstall EVERY bit of apple on the computer then try again, and to no avail.
I am a bit discouraged, because I have been trying for so long with both computers.
I even called applecare for help with Windows 7 computer. Spoke to one representative who forwarded me to another who could not help.
(Windows 7 itunes WILL install, but when I plug up my phone says I am not running 64bit itunes, which I am, and to reinstall. Then I was missing the Mobile device and would not let me separately install.)
I am a bit frustrated, and I'd appreciate all of the help I can get.
    Thank You all in advance.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
